I need management

Hello everyone :)

My job started two weeks ago. I was confused about new circumstance where I work.

I always have difficulties when I start something new. For example, new school, new friends, new work. It is surely exciting to have a new world, but it usually accompanies nervousness. I get so nervous that I feel sick. What I would like to know is how I can feel relaxed even if I am nervous.

I know the answer though . Be acustomed to the new things. lol

Well, that is simple. Be happy! Laugh out! Stay hungry, stay foolish!

Yes we can!!

Shohei

take over control

I would like to introduce funny Japanese culture.

What impression do you have for Japanese people? Hardworking? Sophisticated?

Well, they are correct, but not funny. The funny culture in Japan is Friday night. You all know it well. Friday night is the time people go crazy, get drunk and have fun. Drinking is a good example.
Most of Japanese employees drink a lot at Friday night. They drink too much to take care of themselves, and this is funny. You can see such people in cities and train stations being out of control. The best spot to see it is along the Yamanote line, JR line. The line is located in business towns in Tokyo, and employees work and drink there. It is a huge gap when they are sober and are drunk. Tokyo has big culture.

It doesn't matter when you come to Tokyo because you always can find something funny and interesting.

What do they like to say?

"TGIF!"

Shohei

good night

What do you say to people when you go to bed or go home at night?

It is usually “Good night.” This is absolutely good and correct. However, non-native English speakers would say that too much, which sounds boring to natives. So you need to paraphrase, or use different expression.

One of the different expression is “See you in the morning.” The meaning is the same as “Good night.” Instead, “See you in the morning.”is used when you meet the person the next morning. That is the difference between the two.

You can say both now, and it may help you look more sophisticated than before.

This is today's tiny lesson.OK every one? Good night!

The Asahi Shimbun GLOBE

It is necessary for language learners to be exposed to the language. If you are learning English, you should be in the environment of English to make your English ability better.

However, it is not so easy to make such kind of situation if you are non-native of the language you learn. For example, a Japanese studies English. He/she finds it hard to keep English-only time because people in Japan speak Japanese, listen to Japanese and talk in Japanese. Therefore, there is little time for him/her to use English there.

One of ways to introduce the language to your daily life is to read newspapers. Here is an example below:

The Asahi Shimbun GLOBE

http://globe.asahi.com/index.html

This is published by Asahi Shimbun every 1st and 3rd Sunday in a month. It deals with variuos kinds of things under the concept of looking at Japan from worldwide viewpoints. This is not written in English, but a good material to get knowledge about the world.

Subscribe the newspaper and broaden your world!!

Mar 14, 2011

Shohei
