No worry, the ceremony and reception will be in both Japanese and English, and you will have at least one English speaker at your table. Anything unclear? Ask Eiko, Nozomi or Wakko. Eiko is the mother of the bride. She is taking role of Shiori’s private bridal producer, especially in flower, dress, and paper item parts. Nozomi is Shiori’s best friend from college, working basically in the U.S.A. Wakko is a lovely friend of Masato and Shiori, who is dating with Iku, Shiori’s brother.

I am asking my friends to wear the best for YOU. Shiori will be in the robe whole day and Masato will wear tuxedo. Most Japanese female guests wear dress, and male black/gray suits.


It’s typical in Japan that women wear black for wedding, but please wear something brighter at my wedding, if possible. (I’m asking the same thing to my Japanese girl friends.) Men, you don’t have to be in tuxedo, since most of our Japanese guy friend will be in their favorite black suits with white/colorful tie.


Most likely, white is the color to avoid, but if it’s the color of your choice, I will be happy to have the same/similar color with you! Someone might thing red should be avoided, but I like red ;)

Your existence is the biggest and the most wonderful gift for us!

In Japan, it’s the typical way to bring wedding tip, called “oshugi,” in a special beautiful envelope. Our Japanese guests will give the envelope at the entrance of the restaurant. Three of my friends will be there at the entrance, with the guest list; please just let them know your name.

Chopsticks are very useful tool, but unfortunately, we will not have it at the dinner table. It will be French cuisine of our choice ;) One of the biggest themes at our wedding is “let’s eat together, let’s share together.” Japanese brides, tentatively, are not able to eat their party food, but Shiori is trying to eat a lot! She loves their bread and butter, as well as the cake. An original cake has been developed by the bride and groom, together with the restaurant’s best patisserie.

15:00 Wedding Ceremony

at the St. Ignatius Church Yotsuya

Please arrive at the church by 14:40, go into the building next to the main chapel (you will see the church office on the left), and go to the 2nd floor. Iku (Shiori’s brother) and his girlfriend, Wakko, will be there at the reception, and ask your name. Just before 15:00, people will ask you to come in to the Our Lady’s Chapel, where the ceremony takes place. Please take the front/center seats except for the 1st row (for family). It doesn’t matter to be Masato’s side or Shiori’s side, so, please try to take the best seat for you.

15:40 Group Photo

After the ceremony, we will take a whole-group photo. If weather allows, please go to the open space around the Main Chapel. In rain, please follow the direction of the photographers.

16:00 Moveing (to the reception restaurant in Roppongi)

Lots of taxies will come to pick you up in front of the church. Please take one ride with four people. You don’t have to pay nor describe the direction. It’s all arranged beforehand. If anything unclear, please ask Iku or Shu (Shiori’s brothers).

16:30 Welcome Drink

Please let your name to the receptionists of our friends (Nana, Mayumi or “Tono”, and Non-chan). Go upstairs and enjoy the welcome non-alcohol drink. Each room is arranged with our photos and lovely flower that Eiko (Shiori’s mom) produced.

17:30 Reception dinner

Please enjoy the French cuisine with our choice of menu ;) Shiori loves their white plates, too. Yuka, Masato’s sister will sing a song for us. Each table is decollated with a picture of world cities/towns that we adored; drown by Shiori’s friend called Chikako.

19:30 Mingling & Music

Little break and mingling time in the small rooms on the 2nd floor; Enjoy the piano music composed and played by Yuka, Shiori’s high-school-friend.

20:00 Dance and Jember Party!

We might have our first dance and father-daughter dance ;) After that, Masato’s friend from his work (junior high school) will play wedding songs with jember (African drums). We will have dancing time with a Japanese instructor. You MUST join the dance to make it a special day ;) At the end, we will have bouquet-pull. Who will be the one who’s getting the bouquet of Shiori’s favorite flower/color?

21:00 End / Tea Time

Not enough chatting or want to stay at the nice place? You are more than welcome to have a cup of tea with us!

9:00-11:00 After-the-Storm Breakfast/ Brunch

at Westin Hotel Tokyo

Could wake up in the morning? If so, we will be happy to meet you again before you leave Tokyo. Casual buffet style breakfast/ brunch will be at the 1st floor dining in Westin Tokyo. You can come and leave anytime you like between 9:00-11:00. If you are not staying at Westin, it will be charged about 30 US$. Dress code is casual!
