The 62-year-old introduced newcomer Rani Swarnkar as his leading lady and reflected on years of being sidelined: “People kept saying, ‘Now he won’t appear in films anymore.’ But I always started again.” His last theatrical lead was Rangeela Raja in 2019, and now, 7 years later, Chi-chi is back.

Preity G Zinta

After eight years of absence, Preity G Zinta is making a comeback with not one but two exciting projects. The 51-year-old returns to the big screen with Batwara 1947, originally titled Lahore 1947, on August 14 alongside Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi and Ali Fazal. The film has been produced by Aamir Khan. She has also been announced as part of Kunal Kemmu’s directorial Vibe, a comedy drama on OTT set for release on September 18. Her last theatrical lead was Bhaiaji Superhit in 2018

Urmila Matondkar

Nearly eight years after her last appearance in the song Bewafa Beauty (Blackmail, 2018), the 52-year-old actor is set to headline her acting comeback in the OTT revenge thriller Tiwari. Announced in 2022, the series faced speculation over delays, however, producer Utpal Acharya later confirmed that filming had wrapped and the project was in post-production, with a released slated this year. The project also reunites her with Satya (1998) co-star JD Chakravarthy after 27 years.

Celina Jaitly

The actor has spent recent years fighting a child custody battle and campaigning for the return of her brother, retired Major Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, from UAE custody. Earlier this month, the 44-year-old announced her return to the big screen after 15 years with Sister Nibedita. The biopic on the Irish-born disciple of Swami Vivekananda is directed by Ram Kamal Mukherjee. “I had to walk through my own fire to arrive at this moment,” she wrote on Instagram

Imran Khan

Having stepped away from Bollywood in 2015, Imran’s return has been slow. The 43-year-old made his onscreen reappearance through a cameo in uncle and producer Aamir Khan’s Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos this year. But his official comeback is the upcoming Adhure Hum Adhure Tum, a romantic dramedy directed by Danish Aslam and co-starring Bhumi Pednekkar. Imran, who is also co-producing the film, described the set as “the happiest I’ve ever been on.”
