What a difference a couple weeks makes. Two Thursday ago I was operating today I am working on projects, spreadsheets, and studying topics I never imagined. While it isn’t what any of us choose to do, there is a beauty in the unknown....but we have to strip away the fear of the future and the longing for the past and resolve to recognize that the unknown in short order will be known. Then we can try to narrowly focus just on the moment... and appreciate being present in that moment... and there we find the beauty.

Our first responders continue to amaze me everyday, putting the lives of their patients first and continuing to push forward in this very trying time. Thank you for all that you do and may each continue helping others in their own way; through social distancing, volunteering, homeschooling children, nursing others back to health and so much more. We will get around this... sooner than we think.

Yesterday we celebrated National doctor day. Communicating with and watching what my colleagues on the frontline are doing day in and day out, I am reminded of why I became a physician. To help others. I want to give a shout out to all my friends, colleagues, residents and family on the front lines. @eadayan3 , Alyssa Dayan, @richaronwald, @tgandor , @mathew_avrammd , @kenjioyasu and so many, many more… We all look up to you, all peoples, cultures and generations. An older population that so desperately relies on your generosity now gazes upon you with reverence. They remember the days when doctors were highly regarded for their intelligence, servitude and devotion. For a current generation that may have tempered their awe and respect for the field, now reassessing and appreciating their doctor family, friends, and neighbors. Many have derided the field falsely believing that financial gain was the goal of too many physicians, but they couldn’t be further from the truth. The conventional wisdoms never really understood what all physicians who took the Hippocratic oath know so deeply. We are imbibed with a mantra and soulfulness to always do the right thing, to act in the patients best interest regardless of who they are or where they come from. And we now have a younger generation that looks up to doctors in a way that we haven’t seen in years. They recognize you for who you are and for what you do… their eyes are wide open and their adoration overflowing when they see you dressed in your blue armor, your gear holstered, and your shield at your side. You are the modern-day Knights of King Arthur’s round table and the Astronauts of Right Stuff. You are reestablishing the image and role of what it means to be a doctor. Your altruism, humanity, spirit and strength exemplify why we all chose the profession. While most run from the fire and cower, you are standing up, donning capes and masks and running into it. Yes, perhaps with some timidity… but that doesn’t stop you… your courage in the face of fear defines what you all are… heroes.

Dayan Dish☕️ God is Dead. Are fillers and neuromodulators dead? This is from a talk I gave in Montreal a couple years back. It is a theory on why there is a rash of unnatural outcomes. I also give insights into the future direction of aesthetics. While science is critical to medical advancement we can't overlook it's inherent limitation. And where the scientific road ends, is where I pick up the philosophical path to guide me toward understanding. Each route whether it be science, religion, or philosophy provide a different alternative but no one direction has exclusive access. It is when traveling via multiple avenues and viewing the horizon’s haze from various viewpoints that we gain a more complete understanding of the truth. Swipe up on my story to watch the full video. Exercise mind, body and soul! In this time of isolation there is no better way to stay balanced then to stick to a routine. Get up early, push your body and your mind. Consider a theme for the day! Today I’ve decided to everyday wear something that reminds me of my travels ✈️to wonderful places where I have spent time with wonderful people. Today I want to send a Special Shout out to my plastic surgeon colleague, @dr.alexandra_baciu and her fiancé Filip Mihai. Iam wearing a traditional shirt from Romania 🇷🇴 that they gave me when I visited them last fall. Their over the top hospitality further solidified my love for their country. I can’t wait to return! Tomorrow…🤔hmmm…maybe the Middle East…
