Calligraphy

Some time ago I started Japanese calligraphy classes.

It turned out to be a very interesting activity and I really enjoy it.
I've been practicing the four different styles and to be honest, I learned to be more patient as
it is important to work with it.

Next Saturday there will be a Japanese speaking contest in my Japanese School and my calligraphy group and I will be making works as a demonstration... I'm really excited about it. The words that we are going to be writing are "The Dragon Flies, the Big Bird Dances". I wanted to upload a photo with an example
but was not able to. I'll upload photos in other page and I'll put the link in this one.

After both the demonstration and the contest are over, there will be an "Ondo Dance" and then we will have our "obento".

I'm looking forward to it!!

English

As I keep learning Japanese I realize that I need to practice English.
My native language is Spanish and I've been told that for foreign people that it is very difficult to learn -I would be happy to help anyone who wants to learn it.

I've been studying English since I was about 2 years old (as long as I remember), and I've been learning different topics at school with English as my second language. Still, since I started University my classes changed and it is very rare now to study in English as I used to do it.

In Mexico it is very important for any person to know English, it makes everything much easier
such as finding a new job --- it's not a guarantee though.

When I started learning Japanese my professor told us that while a person is focusing in a new
language everything is divided into two sections: the first one is related to the understanding part (reading and listening) and it's the easiest part as your brain continuously receives knowledge; the second one is about the production of the language (writing and speaking), which is the most difficult part as you don't speak/write it like an 'everyday thing'.
There are many different methods in order to learn and practice a language and if a person doesn't keep having direct contact with the language... specially if it's so different from your own.

I'll need to start reading English books and keep writing because what it's about listening
(understanding) and speaking is almost as good as I expect it to be.

I wonder how many people speaks English as a second/third language...

Good luck to everyone!!
(¡¡Mucha suerte a todos!!)
