HTC One is undoubtedly one of the best selling Android smartphones available in the market today, it has reportedly sold over five million units around the globe. Everyone knows that HTC has got a hit on its hands, with the company recently expanding this offering by introducing a “Nexus Experience” variant as well. Rumor has it that HTC is working on a Gps Windows Phone 8 variant which is going to be quite similar to the HTC One.

HTC could be planning a Windows Phone 8 powered One variant that uses the GDR3 update for the operating system. Rumours point to a device based very closely on the HTC One's design, but not an exact copy.

Display size is said to be between 4 to 5-inches, although sources speaking to Neowin haven't confirmed an accurate measurement. The body is said to be made predominantly from metal and sporting the inevitable Beats Audio logo.

Citing undisclosed sources, Neowin is reporting that the phone, while not a true HTC One, will feature the same styling cues, aluminum frame and will feature a display in the 4-inch to 5-inch range. Beats audio will also be present alongside the company's UlrtaPixel camera technology.

This would make the third Windows phone from HTC within the last year with the 8X and 8S being launched during 2012. Industry analyst are expecting the phone to launch sometime this fall with an actual release date of mid December. No rumors on pricing have been released yet, but we expect it to be similar to the price of the Android HTC One.

Samsung introduced a slew of new Windows-based hardware this week, including two tablets. The Samsung Ativ Q is a convertible that can serve as either a tablet or a laptop, while the Ativ Tab 3 is a standard tablet. Both run Windows 8 and include Samsung's S Pen stylus, which can be used on the touch screens.

The Ativ Q is the more interesting of the two. Its convertible design means it can be used in four different ways, says Samsung. The screen can be laid flat on top of the keyboard so it may be used as a traditional tablet; the screen can be stood up to so it acts like a standard laptop; the screen can be rotated for comfortable video watching; and it can be "floated" for a better viewing angle when used with the keyboard.

Which may be precisely why Samsung has unveiled the ATIV Q GT-S777. The convertible tablet will feature Windows 8 operating system and Android (Jellybean 4.2.2) on the same device. This will give users access to Google GOOG -1.54% Play, which means you’ll be able to utilize your Android apps on your Windows device. Oh, snap.

For a few months now, Android devices have not only led the mobile pack in device sales, but also in app sales. According to a Canalys report from April of this year, Google Play accounts for more than half of all apps downloaded. Windows and Blackberry devices, on the other hand, accounted for a paltry 9% of app downloads. Also running on Android, the camera has a 20.3 mega-pixel resolution and can be fitted with a series of lenses, from compact pancake to ultra-wide fisheye, and longer zoom. It shoots video, in both 2D and 3D. Pictures and video can be edited on the camera's screen before being uploaded for sharing.

With smartphones already denting sales of basic point-and-shoot cameras, the Zoom has the potential to further depress sales of photographic equipment.

Samsung is under pressure to deliver a best seller. Banks have cut their profit forecasts for the South Korean company, warning its flagship android smartphone, the Galaxy S4, may not be proving as serious a contender to Apple's iPhone 5 as originally predicted.

Mobile devices will continue to replace PCs as consumers’ primary computing device, leading with smartphones, which will continue to be the most popular IT device sold. “Consumers want anytime-anywhere computing that allows them to consume and create content with ease, but also share and access that content from a different portfolio of products,” writes Carolina Milanesi, research vice president at Gartner. “Mobility is paramount in both mature and emerging markets.”

Mobile phones will account for 1.8 billion devices shipped this year and 1.9 billion next year, with tablet shipments expected to grow 67.9 percent in 2013, reaching 202 million units and growing to 276 million units in 2014. Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android will outstrip all other operating systems during the forecast period, powering 866 million devices shipped in 2013 and 1.06 billion in the year to follow. Microsoft's (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows (including its Windows cell phone OS) is second with 2013 shipments of 339 million and 2014 shipments of 378 million, followed by Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS/Mac platform at 296 million in 2013 and 354 million in 2014.

According to Gartner, there has been a shift in consumer preferences as many moved away from premium tablets to basic tablets. The share of basic tablets is expected to increase faster than anticipated, as sales of the iPad mini already represented 60 percent of overall iOS sales in the first quarter of 2013.

“The increased availability of lower priced basic tablets, plus the value add shifting to software rather than hardware will result in the lifetimes of premium tablets extending as they remain active in the household for longer,” Ranjit Atwal, research director at Gartner said.inbluemall.com
