Starting College!

Hello! It has been a while! I've been very busy this summer hanging out with my friends so I have not been able to make an entry.
Earlier this week I began college. It has caused a lot of changes in my life. First of all, I know I have mentioned this, but I moved into a dormitory!
This is what my new home looks like!

My roommate occupies the other side of the room. My roommate is pretty cool. Of course we are very different and sometimes we argue but we still get along. This is my roommate Lynn! (Sorry about the sideways picture)

She is a lot taller than I am so we look funny together in pictures! I've had a lot of fun these 2 weeks. I met a lot of people, tried a lot of new things, and I also feel like I've grown up a lot. Now I have to was my own dishes, do my own laundry, and pay for everything by myself. I also no longer have my parents around to remind me of the little things. But don't worry! I talk to my parents and my little brother everyday. Speaking of my little brother... he starts High School tomorrow! Isn't that exciting!? The best part is that a lot of his teachers used to be my teachers. He even has the same homeroom teacher that I had! He is really going to have a lot of fun in High School. I'm honestly a bit jealous. I miss high school and all my friends I made in High School. We are all very busy so we don't get to talk a lot but when we do I almost cry because I miss them so much! Thankfully we all promised we would write to each other! It'll be a lot of fun.

Classes are very different from my high school classes. I only certain classes a few times a week and a lot of the work I have to do is online. I have already switched my major. I originally wanted to study to become an English Literature Teacher but now I'm studying to become a Math Teacher. I feel that now my classes are a lot easier since I am now doing something I enjoy doing.

The food at my college is not that bad either. Everything is super expensive but it tastes pretty good. I really like this one place called Jamba Juice! They make smoothies that are very healthy and can easily fill you up! It's like a meal! It's my favorite thing to buy right now. Whenever I am not eating food from the university I am usually eating Easy Mac and Ramen. The thing is I can only eat so much of one thing before it gets boring! It's just one of the woes of an American college student.

This is not college related but I want to share this anyways. Yesterday I finished reading the book, The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks. It was a really good book, but it was so sad! I cried for a hour after I finished the book. Now I just have to wait for the movie to come out next year!

Well I do have a lot to say but it would be too much to put in one entry! So I'm gonna end this here :) Thanks for reading and keep reading to find out more about my college life in America. Hopefully I'll be able to post pictures of my college next time!

Summer Begins!

My summer began Monday and a lot of things have happened since then. Monday night, my friends and I bought tickets to go to our school's Junior/Senior Banquet. Sounds fun right? It really was but at the same time it kinda was not. The Senior class gets to watch a slide show every year compiled of pictures through the class's life. You see, the girl that made the slideshow only included pictures of her and her friends. It was not fun to watch at all! And it was 20 minutes long! I did not care that I was not in it, I usually am not in these things. But I really wanted to see pictures of my friends. Still... I did not let this ruin my night! My friends and I took a lot of new pictures to make up for it!

Eventually the dancing part of the banquet started. My friends and I had a lot of fun dancing with all the excitement built up inside of us. I mean it was summer! We are done with High School and we should celebrate right? Well it was all peachy until... I got confessed to. o(；△；)o I'm not going to go into details... but because I am going to college far away soon I said no. Very nicely of course. I did not let this stop me from having a super fun night!

After the banquet my friends came over to hang out and sleepover! We had a lot of fun staying up late swapping funny stories. But the next morning we had to get up SUPER early because we had Graduation practice at 8:00AM! We were really tired as we had to get up very early because girls spend a lot of time in the bathroom and there were 4 of us PLUS my little brother that still had to go to school.

Before graduation practice we stopped to get breakfast at McDonalds. I do not really like breakfast very much so I only had a fruit smoothie. When we got to practice I found out that we have to sit in alphabetical order, luckily my friend Joe is next to me in the alphabet. We spent the entire practice talking and making jokes. It was a lot of fun! Then my friends and I went to Panera Bread for lunch, and then we walked the trails in the park. It really was a lot of fun! And when I got home I tried on my cap and gown!

Yesterday, I organized all of my school work. I made a keep pile and a fire pile. My friends and I are planning a bonfire to burn all the schoolwork we do not want to keep during college. My stack is really tall too! After I organized my schoolwork, my friends and I went to go see the movie Identity Thief! We thought it was really really funny.

Today my friends and I are planning to go out for coffee at the bookstore but I do not know when. I'll keep you updated! But that has been what is going on with me over in America. Before I go I want to share a funny story!

The week before school ended, my English teacher took us to the Art show and had us each write something inspired by one of the pieces of art there. I wrote about a piece that had a transparent girl trying to comfort a girl that was crying. The picture was in black and white and it was very sad. I wrote a first person fictional story about a girl that committed suicide. The next day, I read my story in class and everyone said it was a really good but sad story. Well... On Monday, the last day of school, after I read another assignment of mine to the class, my reflective narrative, my classmates again said that it was a great story. I was really happy but then one girl raised her hand and said, "Wow really interesting things happen to you, this and then that one girl that committed suicide!" I was really confused so I asked what she meant by that. she said, "Wait, so the girl that committed suicide was not a true story? Because we thought that might have been the reason why you moved here!" I was so surprised that I could not stop laughing! My friends also started laughing. I kept denying it between laughs. I apparently written my story so well that people thought it really happened! I was so flattered. I was also offended because the story was the point of view of the bully and I would never do that to anyone. I would feel too guilty. Well, that is my funny story that I wanted to share.

Goodbye High School!

Hello!
I'm posting to announce that as of today, I AM DONE WITH HIGH SCHOOL! Today was the Seniors last day! It was so much fun! Well, except for the classes I had tests in... But English, my last class, was a blast! We all took turns reading our reflective narrative assignments and I was the last one to read mine :) It felt special! But then our school has a tradition called the SENIOR COUNTDOWN! Basically, starting at the beginning of May our school puts up a countdown until the Seniors' last day of school. On that day when there are about 7 minutes left of school, we are called down to the countdown. Then when it gets to 30 seconds, my entire class, including myself, scream the numbers as they slowly go down one by one. And then once it reaches 0 we all start screaming and celebrating! A few people even cried, but I did not.

But then something really sorta funny happened. But it was also pretty bad. A Special Ed class student thought all of our celebratory screaming was screaming for help and he pulled the fire alarm! (ノ◇≦。)
And when my friend and I were leaving the school one of the Seniors for a prank decided to release a bunch of crickets in the hallway! It was gross! Speaking of pranks our school had a pretty awesome Senior Prank. Someone bought a bunch of drain fish and put them in every toilet in the school! But it was also very sad because all the fish ended up dying (:_;)

I want to share two more pictures with you before I go!
My friends and I took a picture of us at school after the countdown finished. It is very blurry but I still like it :)

The next picture is of my Spanish 4 class :) We are a small class for an American high school but it's a fun class. Except for the actual school work, none of us liked that. :)

That's all I have for you today! Tonight I have the Junior/Senior Banquet and we get to officially hand down the title of Seniors to the Juniors. It's going to be so much fun but very sad. Then... I am having a giant sleepover at my house! The next day we have graduation practice, hopefully I'll be able to post some pics from that in a few days. But until then, I hope you have a nice day! Bye!~

A new haircut for a new beginning

Hello Everyone!
It seems like a lot of stuff has happened since my last post. I went to two of my friends' graduation parties. They both were a lot of fun and they served a lot of delicious food! My friend and I ate two lunches that day and we both ate so much we felt sick. We couldn't help it! My one friend had sushi and Starbucks coffee at her party. Now in America, especially where I live in Ohio, sushi is really hard to find. So it really was a treat! And the coffee... my friend drank two of them. The caffeine made her so loud that she echoed in the tent! It was really funny but I felt bad. I'm sure her family thinks poorly of us because of how loud we were. After the parties we went back to my other friend's house and we sat and talk. It was a lot of fun!

On Monday I had to go to my other friend's house to do a project. She was the host at one of the graduation parties I went to. Our project was to keep an ice cube from melting in three days. When we were done, we had a lot of fun watching a documentary on Mermaids. It was pretty cool.

Now for the highlight of this post, as well as the title. Since I finish high school in less than 4 days, my mom decided I should get a haircut now! So I got my haircut. And now my hair is really really short! It looks very different from what I am used to. But I really really like my hair now :)
Here is a picture of my new hairstyle!

What do you think? :)
That is all I have for you today.
I'll post again when something interesting happens!
Bye!

I'm an adult!?

Guess what!
2 weeks ago was my 18th birthday!
I am now legally an adult in America!
WHAT!
Now I feel old.
A lot of things have happened in May. Many of them have made me really happy, others made me want to pull my hair out! So much to say... I'll start at the beginning of the Month, May 1st! On May 1st I had a speech banquet to attend. Speech is a extracurricular or a club that students can join. We learn how to speak in front of people and then we memorize a speech and compete with other schools by being judged on how well we speak. Sounds scary right? It is! But it was very fun and I have become a lot more outgoing because of it! Now the Speech Banquet happens at the end of the season and we have it to recognize the success of all of our members. Especially the Senior members since it is their last year of speech! It was a lot of fun but I almost cried so many times!
Here is a picture of my Senior Speech friends.

And here is a picture of my entire team!

I have a very big team!

After the Banquet was Prom! Not much happened at Prom. My friends and I took a lot of pictures, we ate some food, and then we danced. It was not life changing like it was in the movies. And it was not romantic. But I did have fun! I was really happy when my two friends were voted Prom King and Queen. They really deserved it!
Here is a picture of my friends and I at Prom!

I'm the one wearing the gold dress!

The next day was Cinco de Mayo! Or Children's Day in Japan. But for me it was the day before my birthday! I had school on my real birthday and I had another banquet to go as well. So my family and I celebrated my birthday on May 5th instead! It was a lot of fun, plus I got to eat ice cream cake! That is always fun!

The next day was my 18th birthday! Happy Birthday Self! The day I finally become an adult. Yet, I felt exactly the same as I did when I has 17 years old. I guess I didn't become an adult overnight. The day at school was a lot of fun. It was Senior Skip Day so a lot of my classmates were not at school. My friend's mom and my mom told us we were not allow to skip so we were at school. But we still had a lot of fun because we did not learn so much since no one was at school. After school was the drama banquet. Now this would have been a lot of fun since it was my first time going to the drama banquet. But the drama adviser asked my friend and I if we would record all of the drama speeches and put them in a video for the banquet. This was fine because she asked two weeks before the banquet and I'm pretty good at making videos. But the morning of the banquet and my birthday we were told that we also had to bring the equipment to play the video! My friend and I had no idea that we were supposed to do that! Luckily I was able to talk to a teacher that said we could borrow one of the school's projectors. My friend and I were so mad because this was not what we thought we would be doing that night. When I got home I tested out the projector, making sure it would work and it turned out it was missing a cord! I started panicking! Luckily, my dad had the same cord in our basement. Then the projector worked just fine, and it worked very well at the banquet as well. I did not have any fun though because I spent most of my time worrying about the video.
Here is a picture of my friends and I at the drama banquet!

The month was back to normal by then. Going home, doing homework, sleeping, eating, all that fun stuff. Then my friends started acting funny. They would whisper at lunch and give me funny smiles that just confused me. My one friend asked to hang out with my on Friday but she never told me what we were doing! I was really frustrated. It turns out my friends were throwing me a surprise party! I could not believe it! I almost cried I was so happy. I have such great friends and I do not deserve them! We went to a hibachi restaurant called Sawa. It was really yummy! And then we walked to the Frozen Yogurt place in the mall. The food was really yummy! Then we went to my house and talked until midnight. It was a lot of fun! My friends and I are going to have a sleep over on June 3rd and it will be a lot of fun as well!
Here is my friends at Sawa!

Maria and Chandace!

Alanna, Catherine, and MacKenzie!

Catherine and MacKenzie both have their Graduation Parties today! It feels like just yesterday I was a freshman in High School! Well I have to get ready for those parties now!
I hope you have a good day!
