The other day, I found an advertisement of "Kula sushi" in a town magazin for Japanese ppl.

Kula Sushi, one of the big revolving Sushi chain restaurants in Japan opened up a branch in California.

It said all plates are 2$. We were so excited about going to this place for a couple days!

The restaurant seems popular.

We got there around 5:30. There was already a line.

We waited for about 15-20 mins.

We left around 6:15. There was still a line. I am not sure when the best time is to go.........(・・；)

Well, here is my review;

I have to say this place is average.

I won't say that place was a total dissapointment considering it's in the U.S, not a raw fish eating country like Japan.

But the taste of fish does not compare with Japan.

In Japan, sushi fish is very shiny, I guess that's because fresh fish contains a lot of oil, and the color is very bright. Also it's cut into big slices, so you never see the rice under it.

Here the fish was hummmmm.... it was OK. They did not have much appetizing shinyness, but the fish wasn't smelly or looking too old. Actually some of them were marinated with soy sauce to kill smell?

Also selection is much smaller than Japan.

I saw eel, salmon, scalops, tuna, toro (only on piece on a plate), eel, yellotale, squid and egg for regular sushi and some rolls like california roll, philladelphia roll. (I love philladelphia rolls, btw)

Oh, I saw red snapper sushi as well. What is "Red snapper"?????? I was scared of eating fish I've never heard in Japan... so did not try.

Anyway my husband and I ate total 20 plates of sushi together and got sooo full.

Still we paid much less than we usually have to at Sushi restaurant in San Diego.

Coming from Japan, I have high expectation for Sushi.

But I would go back when I really miss Sushi but don't feel like paying a lot.

彼女は、車でうちから十分のところに住んでいるらいいのですが、

なにせ車の運転にまだまだ慣れていないので、数日まえから

旦那に　”どーしよーーーーー　こわいーーー”とぶつぶつ弱音をはいてます。

アメリカに来てから、毎日、旦那の仕事の後、一緒に車に乗ってもらって

Drivingの特訓しております。

が、今のところ、一人で運転をしたことがない！！！

とゆーか、ちょっとしたことで、旦那におこられるので、完全に自信喪失中。

　　駐車をする時のチェックがあますぎる、とか

　　Laneチェンジする時後ろちゃんと見てた？とか

　　青信号で、右折する時はSlow downしてもいいけど、完全にとまるなとか。。。。

いや、、、、分かっているけど、運転に慣れてないからさ。。。。。

昨夜、旦那に　明日友達の家に行くなら、

”Parkingできないと駄目だよ”といわれ、夕飯を食べた後、Parkingの練習にいきました。

既に閉まっているスタバのParkingで、ありとあらゆるケースを旦那が

想定して、駐車をさせられ、隣に止まっている車の役は旦那が！

”俺がとなりの車だと思って、ぶつからないように駐車してみて”

”お願いだから、殺さないでくれ”だって。。。。　はは

まあ、なんとか旦那がけがすることなく、駐車のコツもちょっと分かったかも！

という感じで無事特訓は終了しました。

さぁーー　これから一人運転に行ってきます。

San Diegoのみなさん Watch out!!!!!!

It's been tough to get used to the life in the US.

First of all, no many things are automated here in the U.S.

I rarely had to open doors in Japan. Most of them are automated.

I went to watch a movie with my husband maybe 3 days after I arrived in San Diego.

I was shocked that I had to push the heavy door.

No wonder why I have really weak arms.

I bought tuna cans to make my husband's favorite Mexican Tuna salad.

Shiiiiit, I can not open them. There is no tub to pull.

My husband is like.. "haha of course you need a can opener".

Really??? What century are you living?????? I haven't seen a can opener for decades.

I remember my mom was using one when I was still in elementary school.

Anyway I went to buy one of those ancient tools next day.

There are more.

One day my husband and I went to a bank to open up my saving account.

When we got there, It was 12:30. The business hours is from 8:00 to 13:00.

So my husband and I were glad that we could make it.

I did not want to keep all the cash I broght from Japan at home just for security.

I told the receptionist that I wanted to open a new account.

She said, "well we are closing in 30 minutes. So would you like to make an appointment? "

hun? you have 30 minutes.... Can't you make an account for me now????

Her argument was that it takes 40 minutes to make one, so they can not finish by 13:00.

So I need to come back some other time.

OMG, just for 10 minutes extra stay in the office, they refuse us. that's how you treat a new customer?????

I was so pissed because actually that was the second bank that I visited that day. First one says that there were not enough ppl working that day,

so they do not have enough time to make an account. Ok, I did not want to wait long, so I went to another brunch. Then, the receptionist treated us like this.

If that was because all the system shuts down at 13:00 or something, I accept that, but that's noe their reason. They simply don't want to work.

Well, my husband started complaining and ask for managers to come out, then the bank finally said

"OK, come to my desk, we'll help you".

Do I misunderstand the concept of "business hours"? In Japan, if you get there 5 minutes before they closing time, they still help you and treat well.

I thought this country's main business was not manufcturing, not agriculture, it was "Service". But where is it? I have not seen any of it yet. Guess I need to give them more time?

時差ぼけでまったく眠れない

昨日までは、一日15時間ぐらい寝ていたので、時差ボケだと気付かなかった　はは。

あまりにもひまなので、

アメリカへ引っ越してからの4日間に買ったものを書いてみよーかと思います。

（ちょいちょい　愚痴をおりまぜて）

まず、こっちに来てから真っ先に買ったもの　

1．　炊飯器　と　米

炊飯器は　なんとMade in Japan　（Tiger製）

ちょっと他のよりも高かったけど、買っちゃった

お米は、日本の品種だけど、カリフォルニア産。

味は。。。。。　　やっぱりお米は日本産が一番だと実感中。

2．　携帯電話

約6年ほど愛用していたピンクの携帯（アンテナ付き）から

やっと新しい携帯へ変えました！　（日本の携帯使えないし。）

Best Buy（日本のビッグカメラ的なもの）へ行って

いろんな携帯を見たけど、デザインのクオリティーにびっくり。

Smart phoneはどれもiPhoneのパクリかな的なものしかないし、

携帯は。。。。実用に重視をおいているのか、美的感覚の違いなのか

とってもUgly　

色のバラエティーも少なくて、基本白か黒、たまに濃い赤とか黄色とか。。。。

私のクラッシックなピンクの携帯のほうがよっぽど　かわいかったと思いつつ、

一番無難なiPhone4をゲットしました

あとは、その他もろもろ　近所の日本スーパーへ行って

食材を買ってきました。

日本に住んでいた時の冷蔵庫の中身をほとんどそろえてきました。

おーいお茶、本だし、みそ、みりん、醤油、わさび etc

今日の目玉は、さんま

2.99$とちょっと高めだけど、今年は日本もさんま高かったし、まぁ　いっか。。。。。

明日の夕飯は、さんまと大根の味噌汁だーーーー　やったー
