Trollbeads Glass Beads

As I'm sure you've noticed, when I get into something, I get into it! I've started exploring the Trollbeads Universe and it's a completely new world with its own terminology. One of the best things about Trollbeads is their glasswork; I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am in LOVE with their glass beads! TBs has two different types of glass beads, pandora jewelry which are mass produced and uniques (or One of a Kind, OOAKs) that are one offs or small batches of experimental beads. What I mean by experimental is that these beads have unique color and pattern combinations. TBs also offers Universal Uniques which have larger diameter cores so that they can fit over Pandora bracelets (with the threads). Since I'm a purist, I don't plan on combining my TBs and Pandora collections so I haven't bought any of these UUs.

Of course, bitten by the TBs bug , I explored the uniques and came up less than satisfied on my first try. I didn't realize this, but apparently I have some OCD-ness for bead size. The uniques are not mass produced so the size of each varies a lot. That's one thing for Pandora, the size is consistent because they used the Murano glass method. The only way I can get these uniques, as I don't have any large TBs retailer near me, is to buy them online and the color can be quite deceptive. Thank goodness for returns, but it's just such a hassle :/. Of course, I went back and tried again and this time picked some really awesome ones. I adore my new pale green petal unique; I can't decide if it looks more like feathers or flower petals, but I'm leaning towards flower petals. It is the perfect size to match my other beads and the perfect color too!
With my new purchases, my first TBs bracelet is complete! This bracelet has almost all the green production TBs and just one unique. As you can see, I kept it light on the silvers and heavy with the glass. My bracelet is 7.9-long (including the clasp) and it can fit 12 glass beads and 6 silvers very comfortably. I got a Trollbeads coin and the retired Shortcut silver beads as well for this one; I really like the coin, it's so ornate and it's perfect for my first TBs bracelet. I like the Shortcut bead because I'm all about efficiency, lol!
I cannot express how happy I am with how this bracelet turned out-while the greens are all different shades, they're along the same color spectrum so it looks really harmonious. I think I’m going to keep going with green beads! Since I've exhausted most of the pandora bracelets charms, my next bracelet will be composed of mostly OOAKs, I think. It’s going to be so much fun TBs hunting!

Donning a sexy red dress and showing her drama q

The stage was transformed into a virtual high school study hallcomplete with one of her adolescent crushes sitting at a desk for“Teardrops on My Guitar.” She pondered how love seems to be “this hugecomplicated thing” and daydreamed about finding “that one great love”as a preamble to “Fearless,” which had her spinning around like a topwhile she cathartically strummed her acoustic guitar. Donning a sexyred dresses and showing her drama queen tendency, Swift had a hissy fit(which including throwing furniture around during a mock interview) inher tell-all kiss-off to heartbreaker Joe Jonas on “Forever &Always.”

Swift popped up in the upper first balcony at the50-yard line (in a skimpy, shiny blue dress) and sang the not-so-secretsecret crush serenade “Hey Stephen,” which ended in a massive hug fest(and a security guard's nightmare) as she walked down the aisle. Alwaysscaling new heights as a performer, Swift made her way to the roof ofthe sound stage to confess her biggest high school fear and dream (notfitting in, being asked to the prom by a senior, respectively) and topour her heart out on “Fifteen.”

Back on the main stage, Swift, wearing a red Victorian dress, proved she is the champion of happyendings, changing the outcome of Shakespeare's tale of star-crossedlovers “Romeo and Juliet” with a happy ending no less on “Love Story.”

Nowwearing a purple sparkly dress, Swift sang about having a wild (but nottoo wild) side and a secret attraction to bad (but not too bad) boys on“The Way I Loved You” and flailed back and forth while pounding thekeys of a baby grand piano on “You're Not Sorry,” which included asnippet of Justin Timberlake's “What Goes Around Comes Around.” Withthe help of virtual fire, Swift scorched the stage with the set closer,“Picture to Burn.”

Winter jacket green popular this season

"I'm from Colorado, and it's nice to see someone in a bright green ski jacket. It seems everyone here either wears black or grey!" A woman turned to me.

The Heat Jacket, which I was wearing, is a great texture play in subtle and not so subtle choices. Removable heavy weather hood and strategic pocketing make this jacket very versatile. I found it to be very comfortable and flexible on a day in New York which was in the low 30's and still had snow on the ground.

I happen to agree with this woman. An unscientific screening appears to confirm that 80% of New Yorkers are not very colorful in the winter months. Winter jackets from Obermeyer.com also come in bright Yellow, Red and Blue and Orange. They also have b/w and grey for those New Yorkers who want to blend in with the slush.

168 People were killed in Iranian Air Crash

Investigators said Thursday they had found two of the three flight data recorders that were on board the Iranian passenger plane that crashed and exploded shortly after takeoff from Tehran on Wednesday.

All 168 people aboard the Russian-built airliner were killed, Iran’s state news media said. The plane, leased by Tehran-based Caspian Airlines, had been bound for the Armenian capital of Yerevan.

Ahmad Majidi, an official with the Iranian transportation ministry, told Press TV in Tehran on Thursday that the so-called black boxes had been damaged in the crash and Iranian experts were trying to retrieve the data from them. He said the black boxes, which record the crew’s conversations and the plane’s speed, altitude and heading, might have to be sent to Russia for repair.

The crash is Iran’s worst air disaster in six years, and it underscored the country’s vulnerability to aviation disasters. Iran has been unable to adequately maintain its aging fleet of American-built aircraft for 30 years because of an embargo after the Islamic Revolution, and has increasingly relied on aircraft from Russian manufacturers, which have their own troubled safety history.

The plane that crashed Wednesday, a Tupolev 154, was carrying 153 passengers, a crew of 15, and was loaded with fuel, Iranian news services said. It went down in a farm field near Qazvin, a city about 75 miles from Tehran, said the Qazvin police chief, Hussein Behzadpour, in comments to Iran’s English-language Press TV.

Witnesses quoted by Press TV and other Iranian news agencies said that the tail and at least one of the tail engines were on fire as the plane plummeted, and that it exploded in flames on impact, creating a crater 30 feet deep and scattering body parts and wreckage.

Television images from the scene showed smoking ruins and emergency workers rummaging through the wreckage.

The spokesman for the Aviation Organization in Iran, Reza Jafarzadeh, said the plane, Flight 7908, crashed 16 minutes after departing from Imam Khomeini Airport in Tehran, according to Press TV.

Sirous Saberi, deputy governor of Qazvin Province, said the plane had a technical problem shortly after takeoff and was trying to return to the airport in Tehran, according to the Mehr News Agency in Iran.

Six Armenian citizens and two Georgian citizens were on the flight, and the rest were probably Iranians, The Associated Press reported, citing the deputy chairman of Armenia’s civil aviation authority in Yerevan. The passengers included eight members of Iran’s national youth judo team, two coaches and a delegation chief, en route to train with the Armenian judo team and attend a competition in Hungary in August, the semiofficial Iranian Labor News Agency said.

Is it hard to move from one style to to another?

A lot depends on where a person lives, and whether they've stayed in the same socio-economic levels. I’ve got friends from 25 years ago, who I wear are still dressing the exact same as they were back then. I grew up dressing very preppy – and even for me, when I want to be comfortable, I go back to that – polos, khaki shorts and loafers.

Yesterday, we were talking about pleated trousers – how many of us had pleated trousers? Our barber was saying how he went off to high school wearing pleated trousers, and how his girlfriend thought he looked so good, but you don’t see a whole lot of folks doing pleated trousers anymore.

But there are a lot of little things that happen that guys may not pay attention to – hem lines, pant lengths, the silhouettes of styles. They may be reading Details or GQ, but those things aren’t always called out and noted ‘it’s OK to wear pants like this.’

We have guys that come in, or girlfriends or wives that bring their guys in, and they just want them to be updated – and I think that’s something we’ve gotten pretty good at – just helping them work through that. We use a motto – ‘build your own style, we’re here to help,’ but I think we give them a framework of good choices.

Take our denim selection – we can’t sell denim that’s all tricked out or ripped, or funky washes. The guys buying denim at our store are buying it because they can wear it to work, or they’re not so much on the edge that they would wear denim with holes in it and all that stuff.

T-shirts are interesting as well – you have the guys that wear the t-shirt as a weekend thing, or it’s a certain kind of t-shirt to wear to the clubs. You start to see a downsizing, if they’re wearing it to the clubs, because they want to impress people, but that becomes a very different type of t-shirt than what gets worn to a barbeque.

intractable problems about global climate change

Developing countries have been strongly against any attempt to cap their carbon emissions, arguing this would constrain their economic growth to handle a problem caused almost exclusively by industrialised countries over the last more than 200 years.

Krishnaswamy said: "Newly industrialised countries, such as Singapore and Saudi Arabia, should take on binding emission reduction targets. The criteria for designating a country as 'newly industrialised' should be agreed in Copenhagen.

"We encourage bottom-up country driven actions based on national circumstances and taking development needs into account."

"There are no top-down targets proposed for developing countries in the treaty because we recognise they are not historically responsible for climate change. All countries have a responsibility to address the problem but these responsibilities would differ according to means and the capacity to act.

"Of course industrialised countries must act first to cut emissions. However, this will not be enough to bring the world back from the brink of disaster. That will take a global effort," said Krishnaswamy.

"While developing countries certainly do have the right to economic growth, the 'treaty' shows how, with financial and technological support from the industrialised world, they can leapfrog dirty technology and grow in a sustainable way," he added.

Shyam Saran had expressed concern to IANS because industrialised countries were not likely to meet their legal carbon emission reduction commitments under the existing treaty and had wondered why developing countries should believe their new commitments. It's a hot topic of debate among bureaucrats here right now.

According to the NGO document, "the penalties for countries that fail to meet their binding obligations need to be tougher and an early warning system should be in place to flag if a country is falling behind. If, after a round of consultation and revision, a country's plans are still not considered adequate, the ultimate sanction would be financial penalties."

The 47 NGO leaders who have put the draft together include those from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Greenpeace, David Suzuki Foundation, Germanwatch and indyACT, the league of independent activists. The authors emphasise that it is a "work in progress" and have sought feedback from everyone.

How should we face food crisis and food security

"Now is the time for action. The food crisis has taught us that to defeat hunger, we have to deal with its root causes and not to continue coping with the consequences of past mistakes," he added.

A strengthened global governance system is crucial to ensure world food security, the head of the United Nations agriculture arm said today, calling for changes to be made to the parts of the international trade system that led to increased hunger and poverty.

"What is important today is to realize that the time of talk has long past," Jacques Diouf, Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization FAO), said at the opening session of the World Grain Forum, which opened today in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The two-day gathering on global food security and the world's grain market, first proposed by Russia at last year's meeting of the Group of Eight (G-8) industrialized countries, has drawn agriculture ministers and officials from over 50 countries.

Mr. Diouf pointed out today that between 2006 and 2008, international prices of basic food commodities surged some 60 per cent, while the price of grain doubled. At present, average food prices are still 17 per cent higher than they were in 2006 and 24 per cent higher in 2005.

Soaring prices have driven an additional 115 million people into hunger, and the FAO chief cautioned that the current financial turmoil is exacerbating the situation and could push over 100 million people into food insecurity.

FAO's most recent report on food insecurity, released last December, estimated that the number of undernourished people worldwide is close to the 1 billion mark.

As of last month, 31 countries -- 20 in Africa, nine in Asia and the Near East and two in Central America and the Caribbean -- in are facing a food crisis and need emergency help, according to the agency.

"This cannot be acceptable. How can we explain to people of good sense and good faith this dramatic situation in a state of abundance of international resources and when trillions of US dollars are being spent to stimulate the world economy?" Mr. Diouf asked, calling for increasing funding to help developing countries boost their agricultural output through investment in rural infrastructure and ensuring access to modern inputs.
