A real colleague

Hi, my name is January.

January 16 will be my last day at the office where I worked for about 8 year. Surprisingly, I happned to know that one of my colleages also quit his job. He was same age colleage and the first department I was in was also the same with him. And I did not expect that the last time would be the same timing.....

I had a lunch with him and he looked so happy to have won a position that he would like to be engaged. Myself will have only three months left before I leave for UK. The top priority would be to get good IELTS score and secondly to win scholaship!!

Bye.

January

Medical check up to go.

Hi, my name is January.

About two weeks left at the office, and about two months before leaving for UK, I am having medical check-ups. Tomorrow, I will experience colonoscopy check up for the first time in 29 years of my life.

Because my father had a colon polyp and also had an operation on appendicitis, I have been worried

about any colon related diseases like colon cancer. If I have polyp or colon cancer after going to UK, it would cost me a gread deal of medical expenses. Hence, I want to get rid of this worries before leaving Japan.

Tomorrow morning, I need to drink 2 liters of purgative...

Bye,

January

Be strategic!

Hi, my name is January.

Life should be strategic. This is my policy.

Everyone has each life but the life of no more than 90 years is very short.

Hence, you need to have your leadership and get a grip of your life yourself.

Keep going, and hang in there to enjoy your life.

Bye

January

Academic writing, writing, and writing.

Hi, my name is January.

Today's topic is how to improve academic writing. This is my main goal for me because I need to improve my writing score in IELTS by January, when I take a couple of tests. I need 7.5 in writing, overall 7.5 as well. I understand my competitors have overall 8.0 or above, so I still can not have any break to achieve my mission.

I believe, in order to improve wrting score is firstly to know the structure of essay. In the first paragraph, the introduction comes, such as, "Studying abroad has both advantages and idsadvantages, depending upon the situation," and also I should mention my position which is "Comparing and considering the overall benefits, I claim that studying abroad brings good impacts on your cultural perceptions for the following reasons".

Then, the 2nd and 3rd paragraphs come with reasons supporitng my opinion. Like, "Most importantly, through living aborad, people realize cultural differences and learn to understand them, They consequently respect and cherish more of the cultures of their home country...".

And last but not least, in the last paragraph comes your conclusion. "In conclusion, I claim that having abroad brings good impact on your cultural perceptions. Through it, people consequently respect and cherish more of the cultures of their home country, and realize racial differences and learn to understand them."

Bye,

January

I want to be somebody's referee in the future..

Hi, my name is January.

It was a very good week and I think I can go to sleep peacefully tonight.

That is becaus I finally finished applying to 1st and 2nd choice graduate schools, which are LSE and UCL, and what is more, I got two letters of reccomendations from my heartwarming and respectful supervisors at work and volunteer activity.

Looking back my 29 years of my life, oops, this is my age actually, I was always supported by somebody, and I found that without somebody's assistance, people can not progress to next glorious step. Please remember, that at any time, the first things you should keep in mind is, to have your "life strategy" on what you want to be and manage your life-long project. Important thing is, Enjoy it!!! Keep smiling!!!

My self, I wrote my goals in my diary, or in notepad of iPhone which I can see it anytime anywhere. I had daunting months but thanks to my family, supervisors, and counselors, the goal is within my reach.

Big thing is that I had chance to meet with my supervisors, who I can ask reference letters, without them, I did not have chance to apply graduate schools. Next step is to get good English score and win scholarship before the pre-master starts in March.

Bye for now

January

Tamasaburo, my favorite kabuki dancer

Hi, my name is January.

Today's topic is Onnagata, the female role of kabuki performance.

Tamasaburo is my favorite Onnagata dancer among all kabuki dancers and he is also a leading Japan's cultural treasure. I love his performance since I was attracted to beauty of Kabuki because his performance was outsanding of all dancers, not only among Kabuki world, but also other types of dances. The name Tamasaburo is not his only name but was succeeded from former Onnagata dancer whose stage names were Tamasaburo. I recall he is the 5th.

In addition, Kabuki represents Japanese traditional culture and also comfort Japnese people's feelings when we are away from Japan. Especially, when I was in New York City in the States, and had been several months away from Japan, I became acutely aware of how Japanese things are something we Japanese should be proud of. I like the States, but from the point of length of history. Japan has its own traditional culture which has beauty in it delicate arts, culture and whatnot. While the Statest has shorter history than that of Japan. When I went to Metropolitan Museum in NYC and Boston Museum in Boston, I found the area where Japanese things are placed are the areas that I most enjoyed.

Coming back to Tokyo, I immediately went to Asakusa enbujyo to see kabuki stage which featured Ichikawa Ebizo. Because I really like to see Tamasaburo's dance, I went again next year to see his performance in the Chushingura, the popular theater towards the end of the year. His stage is very expensive now and he appears less on the stage because of his physical weakness year by year and he himself works hard on fostering next generation Onnagata dancers. It is very sad for me that his appearance become less and less, but I also want to see next Tamasaburo in the near future.

Bye.

First time I made my own decision

Hi, my name is January.

Looking back my life, the first time I made decision on my own life was when I was in university, to take US CPA exam.

Having no idea of what I want to be in the future, when I entered college, I joined a squash club at my college, kendo club outside the university, and did an internship at an IT company, and then I thought of an idea of studying abroad, and also went to a gathering of those who are interested in entrepreneurship. Yet, what I was sure about was, to be an expert in something. The idea was from a book 「国際公務員を目指す留学と就職」:http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E6%9C%80%E6%96%B0%E7%89%88-%E5%9B%BD%E9%9A%9B%E5%85%AC%E5%8B%99%E5%93%A1%E3%82%92%E7%9B%AE%E6%8C%87%E3%81%99%E7%95%99%E5%AD%A6%E3%81%A8%E5%B0%B1%E8%81%B7-%E3%82%B0%E3%83%AD%E3%83%BC%E3%83%90%E3%83%AB%E3%83%AA%E3%83%B3%E3%82%AF%E3%83%9E%E3%83%8D%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B8%E3%83%A1%E3%83%B3%E3%83%88/dp/4757401833

Well, I can not remember why I picked up the book at a book store, but I was sure the book was something that I was looking for, and it turned out to be my milestone of my career now. When I was a juniro in college, I started to study for getting U.S. CPA. license to be an U.S. accountant. I passed the exam on joining a commercial bank. One thing I missed at college was, not having time to go to graduation trip with friends. It was, for me, a trip alone to Hawaii to take CPA exam.....it was a good memory though, but mentally it was hard because if I did not have any other things I think I am proud of during my undergraduate years. Passing the exam was a life changing event for me. The CPA community is one of my treasure, and through going to the cram school of CPA, I had chance to talk with people who already have their jobs and talking with them expanded my view towards my future work and life plan.

I need to prepare for presentation at company this week, so the story to be continued:P

Bye for now.

January
