「梅まつり」の始まった湯島天神（東京都文京区）を訪ねると、暖冬の影響もあるのだろう、すでに見ごろの花もある。木々の間を散策する人、甘酒のコップを手にたたずむ人で、境内はにぎわっていた。受験生の親御さんらしき人が拝殿にじっと手を合わせている。合格祈願の絵馬があり、千羽鶴があり、冬を耐えて咲いた梅と、わが子の耐えて咲く日を待つ人と、いつもながらの早春の風景があった。

　薄膜太陽電池は厚さ一～数マイクロメートル（マイクロはミリの千分の一）のシリコンなどを用い、軽量でビルの壁など湾曲した平面にも設置が可能。県は原子力発電に替わる県内のエネルギー源の主力にすべく、本年度から二年間で十億円の助成金を予算化し、コストの安い製造、設置案やＰＲ方法を企業など から公募している。

　フォーラムは県が主催し、黒岩祐治知事をはじめ、化学メーカー、建設会社の役員や研究者が参加した。

　太陽光発電コンサル「資源総合システム」の一木修取締役は、現在主流の結晶シリコン太陽電池を引き合いに、「（重く可塑性のない）結晶シリコン型に向かない用途を開発して市場を創出できる」などと見通しを示し、軽量性に加え、デザイン性が薄膜太陽電池の利点になると指摘した。

　三菱化学の山岡弘明理事は、二十五階建てビルの壁三面に薄膜太陽電池を設置すれば、一般家庭二百軒分の電力がまかなえると紹介。信用金庫店舗の流線形の屋根に電池を貼り付けて見栄えを良くしたり、携帯電話基地局の円柱に巻き付けて非常時に電力を供給したりといった実例を示した。

　専門家たちは、多くの人々にとって、家庭よりも職場のほうがストレスが少ない他の理由があると述べている。今回の研究のリーダーであるペンシ ルベニア州立大学のセーラ・ダマスク准教授（労働と雇用関係、社会学、女性問題専攻）は「有償の仕事は社会でより大きな価値がある」とし、「家庭の仕事は 退屈で、それほど報いがあるわけではない」点を指摘した。

　市民の会は二月下旬、現在地での建て替えなどに反対し、市に計画凍結を求める要望書と約五百人分の署名を提出した。しかし、吉成市長は「凍結はまったく考えていない」と定例会見で明言。その理由として、現在地で建て替えれば新たな用地取得費がかからないことや、震災復興特別交付税や積立金などで建設費が賄えることなどを挙げた。

　建設費は、百三十億円が見込まれている。質問状では（１）施設規模の算出方法（２）改修への方針転換の可能性（３）事業費全体の財源内訳－など五点についてただした。

　市商工会議所元会頭の山本代表は「計画の決め方が一方的で、情報公開も積極的ではなかったため、今になって市民から疑問の声が数多く出てきた」と話した。市長からの回答は届き次第、市民の会のホームページで公表する予定。　（成田陽子）
