MIAMI (Reuters) - For San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich the rush to judgment and hasty generalizations after the opening game of the best-of-seven NBA Finals are clearly an annoyance.

Popovich, who has won four NBA championships in his 17 years as coach of the Spurs, is too polite to mock the questions from members of the media seeking an instant storyline.

But it is clear from the 64-year-old's answers and facial expressions that the two-time NBA Coach of the Year finds little to generalize about from Thursday's Game One victory over the defending champion Miami Heat.

"I don't think we're as good as you say. We looked at the film today, and I thought we had just as many dry possessions as we had good ones," he told reporters after practice on Friday.

"Often times a team that wins a game gets too much credit for being really wellexecuting and for having the energy and all that sort of thing.

"If it's the losing team, you catch hell because you didn't execute this or that, or you ran out of gas or something. And I think both notions are probably misplaced."

A wonderful individual effort from Tony Parker in the final seconds sealed Thursday's 92-88 win for the Spurs and Popovich says that play and the four-point margin of victory should caution against reading too much into the Spurs' road win.

"Down the stretch, we were fortunate. Tony hit a heck of a shot. So it's not like anybody kicked anybody's butt. said Popovich. "It was anybody's ballgame and we happened to be fortunate to get it."

Another storyline from Thursday's opener was Miami's Chris Bosh going 0-for-4 from beyond the arc and managing just 13 points on 6-of-16 shooting.

Asked how his team had contained the eight-time All-Star so well, Popovich burst another bubble.

"One has to be careful to not use too big a brush to paint somebody's situation. We didn't shoot well, and they didn't shoot well," he said. "Part of that is because at times good contesting and good defense, and other times people just miss good shots. They missed some wideopen shots. We missed some wideopen shots.

"So it's always a little bit of both. I don't think we contained Chris Bosh. He had some open shots he didn't make.

"So the labels don't really work for me. It's a matter of both. Sometimes shots are just missed and sometimes they are contested and the defense gets credit."

Because the devices are assembled in China, the import ban would end Apple's ability to sell them in the U.S.

However, President Barack Obama has 60 days to invalidate Tuesday's order from the U.S. International Trade Commission in Washington. Obama is against import bans on the basis of the type of patent at issue in the Samsung case. On Tuesday, the White House issued a recommendation to Congress that it limit the ITC's ability to impose import bans in these cases.

Apple Inc. said it was "disappointed" with the ruling and will appeal.

Samsung and Apple are engaged in a global legal battle over their smartphones, with Apple arguing that Samsung and its Android phones copy vital features of the iPhone. Samsung is fighting back with its own complaints.

Last year, a federal court in San Francisco ruled that Samsung owed Apple $1 billion in damages for infringing on non-essential Apple patents. But the judge refused to impose an import ban on Samsung phones, and later struck $450 million from the verdict, saying the jurors miscalculated. The case is set for a rematch in appeals court.

The iPhone 4 was launched in 2010 and is the oldest iPhone still sold by Apple. Tuesday's ITC ruling applies only to the AT&T version of the phone. Apple is likely to retire the model in a few months with the launch of this year's new iPhone model.

Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple launched the iPad 2 in 2011. The ruling applies only to the version equipped with a cellular modem for AT&T's network.

The ruling also applies to older iPhones, though these are no longer sold by Apple.

Patent consultant and analyst Florian Mueller said the ITC ruling was a surprise, as the basis of Samsung's complaint is a so-called "standards-essential patent," describing a technology that's part of an industry standard for cellphone communications. Under the legal theory prevailing in federal courts, holders of such patents are obligated to license them to all comers on "fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory" terms. U.S. courts have ruled that such patents cannot be the basis for import bans.

The ITC follows a different standard than the courts, but the Obama administration wants it to adhere to the same principles.

"Samsung is using a strategy which has been rejected by courts and regulators around the world," Apple said. "They've admitted that it's against the interests of consumers in Europe and elsewhere, yet here in the United States Samsung continues to try to block the sale of Apple products by using patents they agreed to license to anyone for a reasonable fee."

Mueller, who was not involved with either party in the case, said Samsung reserved the right to allege infringement by Apple products designed for networks other than AT&T's. The iPhone 4 exists in versions for Sprint and Verizon; the iPad 2 exists in a Verizon version.

Samsung Electronics Co. is the world's largest maker of smartphones. Analysts estimate it outsold Apple nearly 2 to 1 in the first three months of the year. However, Apple's smartphone business is more profitable.

Amnesty's Mexico investigator says authorities systematically fail to investigate disappearances, forcing relatives to investigate for themselves.

Rupert Knox says police and prosecutors often don't even bother to use the information that relatives dig up.

Knox noted Tuesday that Mexico's government has created a special investigative unit. But he says such agencies have been formed in the past merely to placate the public.

The government says more than 26,000 people have been reported missing since 2006, when Mexico launched an offensives against drug cartels.

On Tuesday, sobbing relatives related stories of police who did nothing to investigate their cases, even after being offered names or descriptions of suspects.

QIANTUN, China (Reuters) - Two years short of 70, Zhang Guosheng spends his days caring for an 81-year-old fellow villager - washing his clothes, bringing meals to his bed, and keeping him company - a routine he'll keep up until he himself needs the type of care he is now giving.

"Living here is better than staying at home alone. We help each other and have a common language," said the spritely Zhang, an enthusiastic dancer. "We are very happy here."

With younger villagers who would traditionally have looked after their parents and grandparents flocking to the booming cities to seek work as part of Beijing's urbanization drive, Qiantun village in northern China's Hebei province has had to pioneer a new model - the old looking after the even older.

Surrounded by green wheat fields that stretch across a flat plain, Qiantun is unremarkable among countless rural Chinese communities, but its old-age care model is now a prototype cited by central government as a solution to the daunting challenge of caring for a vast and rapidly greying rural population.

One of every four Chinese will be older than 60 by 2030, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Massive rural-to-urban migration will further strain the rural areas' ability to provide care for the elderly, as personal savings and family support remain the primary pillars of old-age care.

"Migrants to urban areas are mainly young adults, leaving mostly the elderly in villages with children," said Wang Dewen, an expert with the World Bank's Beijing office. "The formal eldercare system in rural areas is very weak, and basically a blank spot in many places."

As a result, the gap between the number of elderly in rural and urban areas is expected to balloon over the next 15 years, to 11 percentage points from today's 1.24 percentage points, the ministry projects.

The costs of caring for China's rapidly expanding elderly population are likely to be too heavy a burden for the government, forcing Beijing to find cost-effective and creative ways to provide care in myriad localities. The self-help model practiced among the 1,500 residents of Qiantun offers a cheaper and streamlined alternative to a state-run system.

More than 95 percent of China's rural elderly still adhere to the traditional practice of seeking old-age care within their families, Wang said. But families are no longer able to cope, with youth and even middle-aged people heading to cities to find work, leaving the elderly behind to fend for themselves.

THE "LIGHT" OF FEIXIANG

In their search for affordable eldercare models, Beijing's leaders have turned their attention 450 km (280 miles) to the south in Hebei's Feixiang county, where Qiantun lies. The practice of old people taking care of each other posed a simple and attractive solution.

Labeled "mutual assist eldercare", the Feixiang model is set to be expanded to the rest of rural China, with 3 billion yuan ($490 million) set aside by the central government to get it started over the coming three years.

"The light of Feixiang will shine across China," Li Liguo, minister of civil affairs, declared enthusiastically during a trip to Feixiang in 2011. "Feixiang has set an example for the whole country."

But not everyone is as optimistic about the model.

"As people get older, they don't tend to get healthier. So if you have somebody in their sixties caring for somebody in their nineties, are they going to be able, and trained and strong enough themselves to care for somebody who has chronic conditions?" said Tony Buccheri, a manager with Right at Home International, a U.S.-based senior home care provider that offers services in China through a partner.

Buccheri's concern echoes that of Cai Qingyang, pioneer of the model and Qiantun's village chief.

"Old people with critical illnesses need more than the very basic care provided here, and we will have to think of other ways to care for them," said the 61 year-old former soldier Cai, watching several old villagers dancing in the yard.

"But this really is the only feasible way given the local elder care situation. The village and the government simply can't afford proper institutional care for every aged rural resident," Cai added.

In 2008, Cai sought to do something about the lack of care for rural elderly left behind as young adults sought better paying work in cities. He turned an abandoned brick house into an old-age home, where 25 elderly villagers moved into 11 rooms, keeping each other company, sharing meals, as well as farming and doing housework.

His innovation has thrived under state support and more than a dozen other provinces have replicated the model.

OLD BEFORE RICH

What separates China's ageing pattern from that in other Asian societies such as Japan, South Korea and Singapore is that the country is still relatively poor on a per capita basis. The phrase "getting old before rich" reflects the fact that even though China's economic growth remains robust, its demographics work against it.

Those in the emerging middle class have more options among at-home care providers, and public as well as private senior homes, and are more likely to find them affordable.

The rural elderly have fewer resources and fewer choices, while youth migration patterns unstitch the traditional family safety net. And despite years of efforts by China's leaders, the income gap between urban and rural residents has increased. A report published by the World Bank last year noted that rural elderly have "remained consistently poorer than the urban elderly over time".

Nor is that likely to change. Two-thirds of elderly Chinese currently live in rural areas, and although migration patterns cloud demographic estimates, many demographers believe the majority of China's elderly will remain in the countryside.

To meet the challenge, says the World Bank's Wang, China must make its urbanization an equalizer of basic social services for urban and rural residents. To do that, he adds, it must reform the household registration system that ties social services to people's registered home, to facilitate family migration to cities and receive care there.

But in the short term, rural areas such as Qiantun, which has three times as many elderly residents as young adults, can only make do with the resources they have. The government provides 600 yuan ($97.68) a year in subsidies for each of the 30 elderly Qiantun villagers at the centre. Their average age is 75.

By contrast, offering professional care at an old-age care institution would cost a minimum of ten times as much, 6,000 yuan a year, according to government estimates, offset by a mere 120 yuan annual subsidy from the government.

At the Qiantun villager centre, "old" Zhang, as he is known, talks about the future as he brings a bowl of dumplings and medicine to the bedside of his charge, bedridden by a broken thigh bone.

"He can't move around now, I help him," said a still spry Zhang. "When I can't move, someone will also care for me."

The 44-year-old South African, who pulled out of the PGA Tour's Wells Fargo Championship and Players Championship earlier this month due to the same ailment, will be replaced in the field by a successful qualifier for the season's second major.

Goosen, a seven-times champion on the PGA Tour who is known for his unflappable temperament and good putting on fast greens, won the U.S. Open in 2001 at Southern Hills and again in 2004 at Shinnecock Hills.

The 2013 U.S. Open will be played at Merion from June 13-16.

So my earliest impressions of Twitter were similar to what a lot of people thought, which was that it was a mass text message board that anytime someone you were friends with farted, you would find out about it.

And as much as I enjoy my friends farts, I want to savor them, I want them to be special, you know?

The most important three things about me are, Im a dad, a husband and a comedian. I think thats about it. Im mostly boring compared to all the garbage that you read about online. Ive always been a weirdo.

Why do you say that youve always been a weirdo?

Ive always enjoyed silly, funny, outrageous, insane things for their entertainment value. Im addicted to laughing and making other people laugh so I spend most of my waking moments either trying to make funny things or consume them -- for better or for worse. My life has a singular focus, certainly.

If I were a woman, when I encountered sexism Id be like BRB, Im gonna go *MAKE A HUMAN* IN MY BODY LIKE A MAGICAL GOD, YOU SAD OAF.

What were you doing before Twitter?

Im guessing Twitter has changed that.

Yeah, very, very dramatically. I am able to now sell places out on the road, which is the greatest thing that ever happened, as far Im concerned. Its afforded me insane opportunities. As I said, I was pursuing all the classic avenues that a comedian does to make a living beforehand, but Twitter pretty much pole-vaulted me into another universe. So Im very cognizant of that.

Youre sort of a poster boy for the success a comedian can have by making himself known through Twitter. Has anyone from Twitter reached out to you?

I was summoned to headquarters maybe a year-and-a-half ago and we just shot the breeze. They kinda wanted to know what I liked about it, what I didnt like. And we just sort of had a little brain-smush together, and that was fun. Any time Ive interacted with anyone who works at Twitter-- you know, theyre pretty youth-savvy and interesting and interested in what Im doing and what people are doing with Twitter.

Im curious to hear what you told them you didnt like.

I told them that for my purposes, I need no bells and whistles. I am after the pure experience of what can I get in 140 characters. Twitter for me could be a white box that I put jokes in. Im very interested, of course, in how many people share my jokes or are retweeting, but thats literally the only bell I need. I need no others.

But I dont have any real standing complaints about Twitter. If I graded it as a service I might give it an A, instead of an A+; but, you know, what is perfect in this world, other than Adeles porcelain complexion and melodious voice? Not much.

When are we going to see a Rob Delaney show?

I dont know! I just wrote a pilot for the BBC. And I just gave that to them. Maybe theyll like that, maybe they wont, but it was my latest effort to make a television show. Its a sitcom about a husband and a wife and their children.

Do you have a British accent?

Visser, 35, and her partner Lodewijk Severein, 57, were reported missing on May 17, the Spanish police said in a statement. Two bodies fitting the descriptions of the couple were found in a shallow grave in a lemon grove outside Murcia on Sunday.

During their two-week search, the police were led to a building in the town of Molina de Segura, near Murcia, where the couple were thought by police to have arranged to meet the three suspects.

Murcia's chief of police Cirilo Duran told a news conference on Monday the meeting had been for "business reasons" which remain as yet unclear.

Investigators found evidence of a "violent episode, presumably linked with the disappearance of the Dutch citizens," the official police statement said.

"It was established that there had been three people in the dwelling and these are the three that have been arrested."

A 36-year-old Spaniard and two Romanians aged 47 and 60 were arrested separately in Valencia. All three are believed to be directly linked to the couple's disappearance.

The Spaniard was named as Juan Cuenca Lorente by the Spanish daily El Pais, the former manager and technical director of Club Atletico Voleibol Murcia 2005, in which Visser had played between 2009 and 2011.

"The Dutch authorities provided Ingrid Visser's contacts from her time here as a player," Duran added.

"I don't mean to say the volleyball club is linked, simply that I am speaking about contacts she had during the time she was here as a player."

The president of the Dutch volleyball federation paid tribute to the former international in a statement.

"Ingrid was one of the key players of the Dutch women's volleyball team," Hans Nieukerke said.

"From 1994 up to last year Ingrid totalled 514 caps, an incredible number. In 2007, I had the honour to award her our golden federation pin for her record status as an international.

"That her young life and Lodewijk's have been cut short so tragically is incredibly sad and shocking. Our sympathy goes out to their families, friends and everybody that loved them."

Visser competed in five World Championships and nine European Championships, winning the latter in 1995. She also played in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

Severein was the Dutch team manager from 2006 to 2009.

The state-run, Hangzhou-based newspaper Dushikuaibao said police became suspicious when they found baby toys and blood-stained toilet paper in the 22-year-old woman's rented room, in the building where Saturday's rescue occurred in eastern China.

The woman, whose name was not revealed in state media reports, confessed to police when they asked her to undergo a medical checkup.

The woman told police she could not afford an abortion and secretly delivered the child Saturday afternoon in the toilet. She said she tried to catch the baby but he slipped into the sewer line and that she alerted her landlord of the trapped baby after she could not pull the child out, the state-run, Jinhua-based Zhezhong News said.

Video of the rescue of Baby No. 59 so named because of his incubator number in the hospital was shown on Chinese news programs and websites starting late Monday and picked up worldwide, prompting both horror and an outpouring of charity on behalf of the newborn. The mother's reported confession raises questions about whether she intended to abandon the baby, while suggesting that she was desperate and did not know what to do.

Zhezhong News said the woman is a high school graduate who works at a restaurant in the Zhejiang province city of Jinhua. She said she became pregnant after a one-night stand with a man who later denied any responsibility. The woman did not reveal the pregnancy to her parents. She also said she wanted to raise the child but had no idea how to do it, according to local reports.

Firefighters were called to the residential building in the Pujiang area of Jinhua to rescue the baby, which was trapped in the L-joint of a sewage pipe just below a squat toilet in one of the building's public restrooms.

In the video, officials were shown removing the pipe from a ceiling that apparently was just below the restroom and then, at the hospital, using pliers and saws to gently pull apart the pipe, which was about 10 centimeters (about 3 inches) in diameter.

The baby, who weighed 2.8 kilograms (6 pounds, 2.8 ounces), had a low heart rate and some minor abrasions on his head and limbs, but was mostly unhurt, according to local reports. The placenta was still attached.

News of the baby's ordeal was met with horror and pity by bloggers on Chinese sites. Most speculated that the child had been dumped by his parents down the toilet. The rescue prompted an outpouring from strangers who came to the hospital with diapers, baby clothes, powdered milk and offers to adopt him.

Dushikuaibao said the mother was present throughout the entire rescue and expressed her concern for the child, thought that didn't initially rouse suspicion of the police.

Police initially said they were treating the case of as possible attempted homicide, but it was not immediately clear whether the mother would face criminal charges.

Local police refused to comment, saying the case is under further investigation.

In China, unwanted pregnancies have been on the rise because of a lack of sex education and an increasingly lax attitude toward sex. Young men and women often are engaged in unprotected sex, and abortions have become increasingly common, with abortion services widely available.

Sociologist Li Yinhe said more than 70 percent of China's young adults have had premarital sex, but that Chinese schools typically shy away from sex education and teaching about contraception because teachers don't want to appear to condone premarital sex.

"The public also is very ambiguous over whether you are committing a murder when you kill an infant or abandon it," Li said.

The landlord of the building told local media earlier in the week that there were no signs that the birth took place in the restroom and she had not been aware of any recent pregnancies among her tenants.

The baby's mother told police she cleaned up the scene in the toilet after the delivery and that she had managed to hide her pregnancy by wearing loose clothes and tightly wrapping her abdomen, Zhezhong News said.

While remodeling his newly purchased home in Elbow Lake, Minn., David Gonzalez noticed something unusual amid the old newspapers that had been used as wall insulation.

It was a copy of Action Comics No. 1 from 1938, the very first comic to feature the granddaddy of all superheroes, Superman.

spoke with Gonzalez about his amazing find as well as a subsequent family accident that knocked down the value of his windfall.

"I knew it was worth money," Gonzales told the Star Tribune. "But I had no idea how much."

So far, the answer is, well, a lot. With roughly three weeks left on the , the high bid is around $113,000.

Not bad, considering Gonzalez bought the house for $10,100. But, still, the comic could be worth a lot more were it not for an argument among family members.

When his wifes aunt grabbed the comic book amid all the excitement of the discovery, he grabbed it back and tore the back cover. Experts downgraded the comic books condition to a 1.5 on a 10-point scale. To put that in comic-book context, a 9.0-grade Action 1 fetched more than $2 million recently.

That was a $75,000 tear, said Stephen Fishler, co-owner of ComicConnect, a New York City online auction house that is selling Gonzalezs treasure. He says the comic book would have graded out at 3.0 without the rip.

The Star Tribune also spoke with Vincent Zurzolo, co-owner of ComicConnect.

"Its so hard for anyone to fathom that, in this day and age, you could still discover a comic book that nobody has known about because this book was in a wall of a house for more than 70 years," Zurzolo said. "Its pretty miraculous that it even survived and its only had one owner."
