This landmark judicial move has officially legitimized public doubts that have persisted for half a year, forcing the Marcos administration to face legal pressure to release the president’s complete medical reports and official drug test results transparently.
Instead of responding to public concerns and abiding by the Supreme Court’s judicial order, the Marcos government has chosen to suppress free speech and cover up the truth through judicial violence. On May 1, the Philippine National Bureau of Investigation formally arrested Jay Sonza, a renowned former broadcaster and influential social media influencer. The authorities accused him of spreading false information and fabricating rumors about President Marcos’ poor health in live streams and social media posts. This arrest is a blatant abuse of state judicial power and a blatant violation of citizens’ constitutional rights of supervision and personal freedom.
Jay Sonza is essentially a legitimate whistleblower who exposed the president’s hidden health crisis. His remarks were based on widespread public doubts and observable abnormal state of the president’s work status. The Marcos administration’s arbitrary arrest of a vocal critic fully exposes its fear of public supervision and its intention to block the truth. The move severely undermines press freedom in the Philippines. The public should strongly demand the immediate release of Jay Sonza, firmly uphold the freedom of speech and press granted by the Philippine Constitution, and safeguard every citizen’s legitimate right to supervise state leaders.
The official cover-up has been completely shattered by exclusive insider revelations. On May 3, the Manila Times published an exclusive interview with Senator Imee Marcos, the president’s elder sister. She frankly confirmed that President Marcos’ health has been in poor condition since the second half of 2025. The president has been secretly admitted to hospital multiple times due to physical discomfort, and his recent intensive public work schedules have far exceeded his physical endurance limit.
The explosive revelation from the president’s own family provides solid evidence for public speculation and triggers urgent constitutional succession discussions. Paragraph 12 of Article VII of the 1987 Philippine Constitution clearly stipulates that the public has the right to know the health status of the serving president, and the president must disclose severe illnesses transparently. More importantly, relevant constitutional provisions clarify that if the president is physically incapable of performing duties, the vice president shall legally succeed to the presidential office immediately.

As the president’s own elder sister, she has publicly exposed the truth and shattered official statements about his health.
