The 40 year old wore the tie front dress, by maternity designer Isabella Oliver, this morning on television before she was pictured near her London home later in the day.

Oh, flipflop australia I can understand the fleece. I can't wear those lined type shoes or slippers either, once my feet get too warm, then the burning starts in earnest and is difficult to shut off!

Let us know what develops. I'm always on the lookout for a new shoe that might be useful. Some days I cannot find ONE pair that meets my foot "requirements". !! :thud:

If you're a fan of flip flops, choose your Summer shoes carefully. I've already gone over the many reasons why flip flops are bad for your feet: they strain your arches, make your tendons work overtime, and lack ankle support, leading to possible injury.

But that doesn't mean you have to ditch the flips entirely. Just look for a more structured sandal with heel cups and sculpted arches that will keep your feet stable. Simply put, "The less flip in your flop, the better it is for your feet and legs," said Justin Shroyer, an assistant professor of kinesiology at the University of Louisiana Lafayette who studied more than 100 flip flop wearers.

The fitness fashion fad of muscle sculpting footwear continues. Last Spring, FitFlops ($49.99) were all the rage, but due to unforeseen popularity they were hard to find since many stores couldn't keep them in stock.

This thong styled sandal from the UK is designed to make the muscles of your legs and bum work more than usual with each and every step. Essentially, as the makers say, they turn your average afternoon of running errands into something a little more akin to actual running. The shoes themselves are comfy, but unlike MBTs, I didn't really feel them working my legs or my bum; I couldn't sense the "wobble board" in the FitFlops that is supposed to increase muscle activity. If a body doesn't feel the work, does that mean the muscles aren't doing anything? Anyway, I haven't noticed any improvement on the backside either, although studies found increased muscle activity in the glutes and thighs in people wearing FitFlops.

The engineered FitFlops are considerably more foot friendly than regular flip flops. FitFlops have a much harder heel than most thongs and offer a lot more support. Wearing regular flip flops, with their lack of arch support, can make my feet and back ache, but I experienced no foot or back discomfort after running around in my FitFlops for a couple of hours on an unseasonably warm day.

Hmm what does this tell us. Well the pattern of purchase over the last two weeks has been very heavily influenced by weather. Hunter wellington boots come in at number 9 over all just from that period. From memory on the 1st of December that is all Bawtry sold. Gabor takes top spot as it should. So strong is the brand in the upper middle price segment that as you can see it nearly takes one third of all sales in Newark Chain. Key factor here for Gabor is fit, reliability, longevity, and some very fitflops on trend styles. The Ecco figures are distorted by two key style groups good flat long boots and fur lined snow boots. Of course all the snow boots have sold out. Lotus would normally occupy first place based on key price alone. Not sure here possibly a better on trend style range is needed. Rieker takes fourth place when only offered in two stores. Basically it has become the main stay brand in Newark Middle Gate. It would be wrong to see Rieker as a budget brand now. Certainly they are now placing their offering in the same segment as Josef Seibel and where Gabor used to sit. Better quality finish and attention to detail would strengthen the range. Number five Josef Seibel is based upon the sales of one boot Palmira. We ahve repeated again and again with confidence on this style. Pity that a couple of extra colours were not added and maybe a Gore Tex version. Both FitFlop and Van Dal appear lower than I estimated here. FitFlop suffered from poor fit on the Super Boot range. Tried and tested styles such as Muk Luk still did well. Van Dal has just simply failed to impress. Sales have come from tried and trusted stock such as Edith and Rochester. Answer get a new designer and build at a higher spec. I think that of all ranges Van Dal may look over priced due to quality in hand issues.

Boots have really proved the winner this season full stop. This has played into the hands of better quality suppliers reliant upon design and point of difference. The customer appears prepared to still pay a premium for the fitflop main boot purchase of the season. Stocks of entry level eastern made product has sold through at a poorer rate than more expensive high grade boots. Turn over has risen slightly with the exception of the last two weeks. This is then based on a higher unit price sale of long and ankle boots. Shoe sales for ladies are down compared to boots. Over all units sold are then also slightly down. Remnant stock value is lower than at the same point last year again under lined by sales of higher value boot stock. Shoes may prove easier to clear at a price later in the season than would be the case for high value boots.

Verdict A better season so far based on quality ladies boot sales. Poor weather may influence margin and end stock levels if spring does not come early.

We've got Earth Shoes that have a negative heel, and MBTs that have a rocker board inserted in the arch of the shoe. There are variations of FitFlops that look like regular shoes, but promise to burn calories and tone your lower body while you wear them. And there are tons of sneakers modeled after MBTs such as EasyTones and Sketchers Shape Ups. So when I saw an ad for these Trim Treads ($40 to $60) in a ladies' fitness mag, I thought, "Great, another toning shoe."

Above the pic of these funky shoes, the ad reads: "Wear your Trim Treads for 30 minutes a day for toned legs, lifted buns, a stronger core, perfect posture, stronger balance, and burning calories." Wow, that's a pretty steep list of promises for a pair of shoes. It's labeled as a fitness shoe, but I'm not sure if you're supposed to wear them while working out or just wear them around the house. Well I'm happy they got the part right that you need cardio in order to get rid of the layer of fat covering your abs, but what they got wrong is how much cardio a person will need in order to make it happen. Three minutes a day isn't going to do much. The Ab Circle is a total scam, and hopefully those looking to whittle their middle won't fall for it.
