Rugby-Wallaby Genia in comfort zone with

SYDNEY, May 7 (Reuters) - Australia scrumhalf Will Genia has dropped the strongest possible hint to coach Robbie Deans that he would prefer to play alongside Queensland Reds team mate Quade Cooper against the British and Irish Lions.

Genia is a nailed-on certainty for selection and could captain the side for the three tests in June and July, while flyhalf Cooper's international prospects have been up in the air since he spoke of the Wallabies' "toxic" environment last year.

Only two years ago, the pair combined to scythe through a succession of Super Rugby defences as the Reds won the southern hemisphere's annual provincial competition for the first time.

They then teamed up for the national side to help Australia win the Tri-Nations for the first time in a decade, although they were less successful at the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand where the Wallabies finished third.

Both have since had knee reconstruction surgery and it is only in the last few weeks that they have been able to put together a sustained run of starts together.

Genia admitted the combination was still some way short of its very best but was quite clear who he preferred standing outside him in the number 10 shirt on match day.

"I love playing with Quade," Genia, who has played with Cooper since their schoolboy days, told reporters in Brisbane on Tuesday. "We've got a long relationship. We've played together for a long time - I really enjoy that combination.

"More than anything it is a trust thing. In whatever decision each makes we back and support each other."

The flyhalf position looks to be one of the trickiest for coach Deans to fill, especially since he has made it clear he will not want to blood untried players in what he considers the ultimate test in international rugby.

That would seem to rule out the likes of in-form but uncapped ACT Brumbies Matt Toomua and Christian Lealiifano, as well as former sevens skipper Bernard Foley.

Kurtley Beale finished last season as incumbent in the position but has just returned to action after being banned for hitting two team mates and is more likely to be preferred at fullback.

'FOUND OUT?'

Like Beale, Berrick Barnes played both flyhalf and fullback for the Wallabies last year and filled the playmaker role in all three tests as Australia swept Wales 3-0 in the June series.

The 26-year-old, who offers a more orthodox and structured option than Cooper, is short of match practice having just been declared fit after missing six weeks with a broken wrist he sustained in his only match of the season.

Equally versatile, and some would argue more talented, isJames O'Connor but he has mostly been used in the back three by Deans and has played just one test at flyhalf.

That leaves Cooper, who has started 27 times in the Wallabies number 10 shirt, as by far the most experienced flyhalf available.

Regardless, the mercurial 25-year-old was left out of a 30-strong squad for a planning camp for the Lions tour last month and Deans has been less than effusive when discussing him.

There is also a school of thought - centred mainly but not exclusively on his homeland of New Zealand - that Cooper has been "found out" by international defences and will never be the same threat he was in early 2011.

Adding to the doubts surrounding him is the fact that Cooper stands at fullback when the Reds are defending - a dispensation Deans is thought unhappy to continue at international level.

The first 25-man Wallabies squad for the Lions series will be named on May 19 with a further six players added when the Super Rugby season pauses for the international break.

Eschewing the outspokenness of last year, Cooper seems happy to let his performances for the Reds do the talking as he bids for a place in the party.

"It all depends on what the coach and the selectors are looking for," he said in Brisbane on Tuesday.

"Personally I am doing my best to work with Will, get the best out of each other and the Reds - I am not looking further than that."
Parents see more food, skin allergies in

NEW YORK (AP) Parents are reporting more skin and food allergies in their children, a big government survey found.

Experts aren't sure what's behind the increase. Could it be that children are growing up in households so clean that it leaves them more sensitive to things that can trigger allergies?Or are mom and dad paying closer attention to rashes and reactions, and more likely to call it an allergy?

"We don't really have the answer," said Dr. Lara Akinbami of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the senior author of the new report released Thursday.

The CDC survey suggests that about 1 in 20 U.S. children have food allergies. That's a 50 percent increase from the late 1990s. For eczema and other skin allergies, it's 1 in 8 children, an increase of 69 percent. It found no increase, however, in hay fever or other respiratory allergies.

Already familiar with the trend in food allergies are school nurses, who have grown busier with allergy-related duties, like banishing peanuts at school parties or stocking emergency allergy medicine.

Sally Schoessler started as school nurse in 1992 in New York state, and didn't encounter a child with a food allergy for a few years. But by the time she left school nursing in 2005, "there were children in the majority of classrooms" with the disorder, said Schoessler, who now works at the National Association of School Nurses in Silver Spring, Md.

Food allergies tend to be most feared; severe cases may cause anaphylactic shock or even death from eating, say, a peanut. But many food allergies are milder and something children grow out of. Skin conditions like eczema, too, can be mild and temporary.

It's been difficult getting exact numbers for children's allergies, and the new report isn't precise. It uses annual surveys of thousands of adults interviewed in person. The report compares answers from 1997-1999 to those from 2009-2011.

Parents were asked if in the previous year their child had any kind of food or digestive allergy, any eczema or skin allergy, or any kind of respiratory allergy like hay fever.

The researchers did not ask if a doctor had made the diagnosis or check medical records. So some parents may have been stating a personal opinion, and not necessarily a correct one.

"We see a lot of kids in clinic that really aren't" allergic to the foods their parents worry about, said Dr. Morton Galina, a pediatric allergist at Atlanta's Emory School of Medicine.

For example, hives are sometimes blamed on a certain food when a virus was the actual cause, he added.

But experts also said they believe there is a real and unexplained increase going on, too.

One of the more popular theories is "the hygiene hypothesis," which says that exposure to germs and parasites in early childhood somehow prevents the body from developing certain allergies.

The hypothesis argues that there is a downside to America's culture of disinfection and overuse of antibiotics. The argument has been bolstered by a range of laboratory and observational studies, including some that have found lower rates of eczema and food allergies in foreign-born children in the U.S.

There could be other explanations, though. Big cities have higher childhood allergy rates, so maybe some air pollutant is the unrecognized trigger, said Dr. Peter Lio, a Northwestern University pediatric dermatologist who specializes in eczema.

Some suspect the change has something to do with the evolution in how foods are grown and produced, like the crossbreeding of wheat or the use of antibiotics in cattle. But Lio said tests haven't supported that.

Emory's Galina said the new CDC statistics may reflect a recent "sea change" in the recommendations for when young children should first eat certain foods.

In families with a history of eczema or food allergies, parents were advised to wait for years before introducing their young children to foods tied to severe allergies, like peanuts, milks and eggs. But professional associations changed that advice a few years ago after research suggested that allergies were more likely in those kids when the foods were delayed.

The old advice "was exactly the wrong thing to do," and could have contributed to some of the increased cases, Galina said.

The CDC report also found:

Food and respiratory allergies are more common in higher-income families than the poor,

Eczema and skin allergies are most common among the poor.

More black children have the skin problems, 17 percent, compared to 12 percent of white children and about 10 percent of Hispanic children.

The mother of a 13-year-old girl, who is black, runs an eczema support group in suburban Washington, D.C. Renee Dantzler says roughly half the families in her group are African-American. Eczema is an itchy skin condition, which often occurs on the arms or behind the knees. The cause isn't always clear.

Her daughter, Jasmine, started getting rashes at 6 months and got much worse when she was 4.

"Her whole body would flare. If she ate something, you would kind of hold your breath," Dantzler said. "And she's allergic to every grass and tree God made."

Her daughter took to wearing long sleeves and pants, even in hot weather, so people wouldn't see her skin scarred and whitened in spots from scratching. She began to improve about four years ago with steroid creams and other treatments and has gradually become less self-conscious about her skin, Dantzler said.

She's now on a school track team, which means wearing shorts.

"She's the only one on the team with long socks," her mom said.

___

Online:

CDC report: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/

http://blog.yahoo.com/_QJLBICR5AJOKSUG5NXNJBQCUBE/articles/1162184
http://blog.yahoo.com/_R2MN3XYMNJVADQXGBYFS6Y5HGQ/articles/1385342
http://blog.yahoo.com/_EDOWTA7LDZVIQOKWSMH667VM2M/articles/1185343
http://katherynoea.guildomatic.com/news/show/1413352
http://jeramyddz.guildomatic.com/news/show/1413353
http://blog.yahoo.com/_L5F5IOXVT6XAEDIYJQ77QYRCTU/articles/1308333
http://blog.yahoo.com/_JNLHAEONNNA7GQVBZ62YG5B2BA/articles/1293753
http://milabcae.guildomatic.com/news/show/1413357
http://tenaqez.guildomatic.com/news/show/1413358
http://janieceorq.guildomatic.com/news/show/1413359
http://blog.yahoo.com/_L5F5IOXVT6XAEDIYJQ77QYRCTU/articles/1308334
http://blog.yahoo.com/_JNLHAEONNNA7GQVBZ62YG5B2BA/articles/1293754
http://kylauiyd.guildomatic.com/news/show/1413366
http://barbkcue.guildomatic.com/news/show/1413367
http://blog.yahoo.com/_L5F5IOXVT6XAEDIYJQ77QYRCTU/articles/1308335
http://carmeloaso.jimdo.com/2013/04/22/contract-formation-law-and-practice-book/

Supersonic skydiver reached 844 mph in r

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) Supersonic skydiver Felix Baumgartner was faster than he or anyone else thought during his record-setting jump last October from 24 miles up.

The Austrian parachutist known as "Fearless Felix" reached 843.6 mph, according to official numbers released Monday. That's equivalent to Mach 1.25, or 1.25 times the speed of sound.

His top speed initially was estimated at 10 mph slower at 834 mph, or Mach 1.24.

Either way, he became the first human to break the sound barrier with only his body. He wore a pressurized suit and hopped from a capsule hoisted by a giant helium balloon over New Mexico.

Baumgartner was supersonic for a half-minute "quite remarkable," according to Brian Utley, the record-keeping official who was present for the Oct. 14 feat.

The 43-year-old's heart rate remained below 185 beats a minute, and his breathing was fairly steady.

The leap was from an altitude of 127,852 feet. That's 248 feet lower than original estimates, but still stratospheric.

"He jumped from a little bit lower, but he actually went a little bit faster, which was pretty exciting," said Art Thompson, technical project director for the Red Bull-sponsored project.

"It's fun for us to see reaching Mach speeds and proving out a lot of the safety systems," Thompson said in a phone interview from his aerospace company in Lancaster, Calif.

Thompson said everything pretty much unfolded as anticipated, with no big surprises in the final report. The updated records were provided by Utley, official observer for the National Aeronautic Association's contest and records board. Utley was in Roswell, N.M., for Baumgartner's grand finale following two test jumps.

Based on all the data collected from sensors on Baumgartner's suit, Utley determined that Baumgartner was 34 seconds into his jump when he reached Mach 1. The speed for breaking the sound barrier depends on the temperature at a given altitude; for Baumgartner, that came together just shy of 110,000 feet.

He reached peak speed by the time he was at 91,300 feet, 50 seconds into the jump, and was back to subsonic by 75,300 feet, give or take, 64 seconds into his free fall.

His entire free fall lasted four minutes, 20 seconds. He used a parachute to cover the final 5,000 feet, landing on his feet in the desert outside Roswell.

Not everything went well.

Baumgartner went into a dreaded flat spin while still supersonic. He spun for 13 seconds at approximately 60 revolutions per minute, making 14 to 16 spins before using his body to regain control, Thompson said. The skydiver was well within safety limits the entire time, he noted. Baumgartner's brain remained under 2G, or two times the force of gravity, during the spin.

If the flat spin had lasted longer and been more severe exceeding six continuous seconds at 3.5 G Baumgartner's drogue, or stabilizing, parachute would have deployed automatically. Doctors worried about him blacking out and suffering a stroke or, in the case of a suit tear, his blood boiling at such an extreme altitude.
What People Close to Obama Think About t

To environmentalists throughout the country, denying the Keystone XL oil pipeline would be the most important sign that President Obama is committed to combating global warming.

To people close to Obama, the pipeline is not nearly that important, and they think the debate surrounding it is overblown, if not misplaced. In interviews with National Journal Daily, people who have advised Obama over the years, including former White House aides, downplayed the effect the pipeline would have on climate change or much of anything really, besides politics.

Its important we focus on things that make the biggest difference in terms of global climate change and do the most to actually reduce carbon emissions, like economy-wide carbon policy or use of the Clean Air Act, said Jason Bordoff, who left the White House this January after advising Obama on energy and climate issues in senior policy positions since April 2009. I dont know how much building or not building one pipeline is going to affect either how much oil is produced in Canada or in global greenhouse-gas emissions. Bordoff now heads up Columbia Universitys new Center on Global Energy Policy.

A relatively small but loud contingent of environmental groups, led by 350.org and the Sierra Club, has harnessed the 1,700-mile, Alberta-to-Texas pipeline as their rallying cry to fight global warming. The type of oil the pipeline would moveextracted from formations called oil sandshas a heavier carbon footprint than most oil drilled in other parts of the world. This issue is so important to the Sierra Club that the group, one of the oldest and largest environmental organizations in the world, announced earlier this year it was for the first time in its 120-year history lifting its policy against civil disobedience to hold a massive protest against the pipeline in Washington, in partnership with 350.org.

Individual decisions in and of themselves are not that important, said Joseph Aldy, who worked on energy and climate issues in the White House for the first two years of Obamas presidency. If oil is $100 a barrel, Alberta will find a way to get the oil out.

Aldys comment isnt far from what then-Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said in October 2010, several months before environmentalists had succeeded in making the Keystone XL pipeline a political lightning rod in the 2012 presidential election. The State Department must approve any transcontinental energy project like Keystone.

"We're either going to be dependent on dirty oil from the [Persian] Gulf or dirty oil from Canada," Clinton said during an event in San Francisco, according to media reports at the time. We're not yet signed off on it. But we are inclined to do so.

In fact, when Aldy and Bordoff were in the White House and Clinton was in her first year as secretary of State, the administration approved in August 2009 a pipeline similar to the Keystone XL project in two key ways: Its 1,000 miles long and moves carbon-heavy oil sands from Alberta to Wisconsin.

We already approved one [such] pipeline when I was in the White House, Aldy said. It happened before. Its going to come up again.

He added, though, that environmentalists are forcing a debate that helps bring climate change to the front burner. Its trying to focus attention in the media and in the public sphere about doing something on climate change, Aldy said. I think there is a real value to this debate.

Aldy and Bordoff are now saying publicly what many Democratic energy and climate advisers have said more privately over the past couple of years: The Keystone XL pipeline is not that big of a deal.

We are essentially jamming our national energy policy debate through a 30-inch pipe. Its an unfortunately narrow space, and the tone and quality of the discussion reflects the constraint, said Jason Grumet, president of the Bipartisan Policy Center, who has advised Obama on energy and climate issues and is close with the administration. "In the absence of a more meaningful energy-policy discussion, Keystone has become a symbolic referendum for a much larger set of issues.

Environmentalists have been so successful at making the pipeline a referendum on Obamas commitment to global warming that people on both sides of this issue are now genuinely unsure whether he will approve the pipeline, a decision thats expected to come in late summer or fall.

Administration officials are careful to avoid direct answers about the pipeline and instead trot out talking points about the official regulatory review process for the project. Given the administration's reticence, the views of Obama's former advisers offer a glimpse into what the president may be thinking.

The environmentalists leading the charge against the pipeline dismiss the comments from Obama confidantes that downplay the pipelines impact.

Obama's guys hate Keystone because they know he's exposed, said Bill McKibben, founder of 350.org. Its the one place where he can't blame his climate weakness and inactivity on Congress, since Congress has nothing to do with it.

One notably high-profile former Obama adviser whose position differs from the several people interviewed both on and off the record for this article is Carol Browner. Browner was Obamas top energy and climate adviser until she left in January 2011.

"Until we do have a climate policy, the idea that we should be supportive of a pipeline that will increase greenhouse-gas emissions is deeply troubling," Browner said at an energy forum in November 2011, according to a Reuters article.

She hasnt publicly commented on the pipeline since then, and she declined to be interviewed for this article.

http://johnnyuurn.guildomatic.com/news/show/1446839
http://avisuoeri.webs.com/apps/blog/show/25882663
http://twitpic.com/clgfkp
http://jessequup.newsvine.com/_news/2013/04/23/17882597-healthy-heart-keep-your-cardiovascular-system-healthy-fit-at-any-age-download
http://salyuue.skyrock.com/3157663576-The-Book-of-English-Place-Names-How-Our-Towns-and-Villages-Got-Their.html
http://marianaatc.guildomatic.com/news/show/1446842
http://carrolvbs.guildomatic.com/news/show/1446843
http://friendfeed.com/ybrea/79b88a46/learn-to-pray-practical-guide-faith-and
http://giovannaaib.guildomatic.com/news/show/1446844
http://souoqd.jimdo.com/2013/04/23/downloads-the-2009-2014-outlook-for-precast-concrete-slabs-and-tile-for-roofing-and-flooring-in-greater-china-e-book/
http://jacquelinetfii.soup.io/post/309712697/Land-Use-Modelling-in-Planning-Practice-GeoJournal
http://friendfeed.com/zyompp/a3ae4be4/broken-ferns-lei-crime-series
http://twitpic.com/clgfmj
http://friendfeed.com/ddepu/a58ca322/download-apocalypse-now-volume-4-christ
http://friendfeed.com/trnzc/2f3cc650/wannabe-backpackers-latin-american-and-kenyan
http://tommieylq.skyrock.com/3157663626-McKee-s-Pathology-of-the-Skin-Expert-Consult-Online-and-Print-2-Vol.html
http://tanjafvm.skyrock.com/3157663628-Download-2008-Musician-s-Atlas.html
http://ronnieapp.skyrock.com/3157663630-Froth-ebook.html

UN: Girls as young as 6 raped by Congo t

UNITED NATIONS (AP) Congolese troops fleeing the M23 rebels last November raped at least 97 women and 33 girls, some as young as 6, a U.N. report released Wednesday said.

The U.S. Africa Command trained one of the units involved, Commando Battalion 391, in 2010 to be "a model for future reforms within the Congolese armed forces," according to the AFRICOM web site.

The U.N. report covered "mass rape, killings, and arbitrary executions and violations resulting from widespread looting," U.N. spokesman Martin Nesirky told reporters.

A report by the U.N. Joint Human Rights Office says most of the rapes took place over Nov. 22-23 in the eastern Congo town of Minova.

The report says that "One or two of the soldiers would leave with the looted goods and at least one would stand guard as the remaining (Congolese) soldiers raped women and girls in the house. Victims were threatened with death if they shouted; some were raped at gunpoint. Most victims were raped by more than one soldier."

"The victims included 33 girls aged between 6 and 17," Nesirky said.

During their occupation of Goma and Sake, "M23 combatants perpetrated serious violations of human law and gross human rights violations," Nesirky said, including at least 59 cases of sexual violence.

The mass rapes occurred in November, 2012, after the Congolese army was defeated by the M23 rebels who seized the provincial capital of Goma, in eastern Congo. The national army retreated in disorder.

Commanders lost control of their troops, or were unwilling to impose discipline over their men who regrouped some 50 kilometers (30 miles) south of Goma, in Minova.

A small, dusty town on the shore of lake Kivu, Minova is home to several thousand people. For days, the Congolese army raped, killed and looted in anger and disarray after their defeat, before discipline could be re-established by army commanders.

The report says 11 Congolese soldiers have been arrested by the Congolese military prosecutor's office, "including two for murder, but only two for related cases of rape." The other charges were not specified.

The commanding officers and deputy commanding officers of the two main battalions suspected of committing these acts, as well as officers of eight other units, have been suspended, the U.N. said.

The report specifies the Congolese units involved in the Minova attacks as the 41 and 391 battalions. The 391 battalion was trained by the U.S. Africa Command in 2010.

Military magistrates from both North Kivu and South Kivu, U.N. peacekeeping and humanitarian agency staff travelled to Minova and surrounding villages from Feb. 6-13, and "military investigators took testimony from several hundred victims, including a large number of victims of sexual violence," the report said.

Roger Meece, head of the U.N. mission in Congo, said the investigation "should be pursed in an independent and credible manner."

"Those responsible for such crimes must know that they will be prosecuted," U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said in a statement, calling the sexual violence outlined in the report "horrifying" in scale and systematic nature.

___

On the Web:

The U.N. report on Congo rapes: http://monusco.unmissions.org/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=Pj7jOWjAxWo%3d&tabid=10662&language=en-US

AFRICOM's web announcement of the training of Battalion 391: http://www.africom.mil/Newsroom/Article/7727/750-congolese-soldiers-graduate-from-us-led-milita

http://friendfeed.com/duobt/c1fe036c/packing-for-mars-curious-science-of-life-in-void
http://friendfeed.com/qpeidu/73e35145/greek-and-roman-dress-from-to-z-ancient-world
http://demarcusrtso.guildomatic.com/news/show/1612737
http://madieddo.guildomatic.com/news/show/1612736
http://friendfeed.com/bouiiu/83764e32/download-income-determination-in
http://kristeendeoi.orbs.com/wildwood+stables+%233%3A+racing+against
http://carolesqpe.skyrock.com/3159507502-NAICS-448120-Womens-Clothing-Stores-State-Industry-Market-Evaluator.html
http://lornabim.skyrock.com/3159507552-Living-Lawns-Design-Restore-Maintain-Enjoy-ebook.html
http://thurmanmeqr.skyrock.com/3159507556-Downloads-Reprint-1930-Yearbook-Oshkosh-High-School-Oshkosh-Wisconsin.html
http://friendfeed.com/raoepsa/c54fbfed/trout-learn-about-and-enjoy-colorful-pictures
http://friendfeed.com/bobyy/aa7d44c0/schley-and-santiago-historical-account-of
http://friendfeed.com/isuyzn/a916f7c9/download-ridin-high-livin-free-hell-raising
http://teddyvibp.skyrock.com/3159507560-Download-Babylon-Rising-4-The-Edge-of-Darkness-e-book.html
http://friendfeed.com/oepldnm/534eb4d1/downloads-introduction-to-risk-management-and
http://helgarcuy.guildomatic.com/news/show/1612742
http://chantalcmi.guildomatic.com/news/new
http://ballosec.info/1/books/M%26M%27s%20Count%20Around%20the%20Circle
http://julioco.orbs.com/lehrbuch+der+experimentalphysik%3A+ste
http://twitpic.com/cnm962
http://cristobalayacfl.webs.com/apps/blog/show/26106376

Little Hellion Makes Visits To Gram's Ho

DEAR ABBY: My daughter died in a car accident two years ago. She and her boyfriend, "Reed," had a 4-month-old daughter, "Angela." Since then, Reed has been very understanding and liberal with visitations. However, it didn't take him long to find another girlfriend, who has a 4-year-old daughter I'll call Madison.

The first time I went to pick up Angela, the new girlfriend hinted strongly that I should also take Madison. I didn't like it, but I took her. Abby, Madison is the meanest, rudest child I have ever met. She called my dad ugly, my daughter ugly and my house "stinky." I saw her push Angela down and laugh. Then she tried to smother my granddaughter by sitting on her head on the couch. The last time I brought Angela home, Madison told me that everything I bought for Angela I had to buy for her, too.

I don't want to take Madison anymore. It has been difficult losing my daughter, seeing her replaced with a new girlfriend and now being expected to include an unpleasant "step-granddaughter" in everything. But if I don't take her, I'm afraid they won't let me visit Angela. Do you have any advice? -- ANGIE'S GRAM IN MISSOURI

DEAR GRAM: If you haven't already spoken to Reed and the girl's mother about her behavior, you should. Madison may act out because she's jealous of Angela and, among other things, she needs to learn better manners before she's included in any more visits. If she had pulled the shenanigans with me that she has with you, I would have taken her home immediately.

This is not to say that Madison should be permanently excluded, but you should have time with your granddaughter one-on-one. The same is true for Madison and her grandparents. You are not a built-in baby sitter, which appears to be how you have been made to feel, but nothing will change until you broach the subject.

DEAR ABBY: I feel fortunate to find myself with the love of my life at 24. "Josh" is charming, intelligent, a hard worker and a wonderful partner. I know we can achieve all the things we hope for. We have discussed where we stand on issues such as children, family, finances, living arrangements, etc. We are mostly compatible, and where there is tension, we work it through and compromise.

We are clearly headed toward engagement. He has picked out a ring and I want it badly, but I am hesitant. I am afraid I won't give him what he deserves.

I dated a man in college for three years. We talked about our future, made plans, and then I changed my mind. The pain I caused was terrible. I still regret hurting him, although I don't regret leaving. I'm afraid I will do it again. I'm so anxious I sometimes think I should bail now and cut his losses just in case. I don't think I will, but who can see the future?

My mother says I have always been obsessed with making the right choice. Am I being foolish and letting my anxieties run away with me? -- SUSAN IN CONNECTICUT

DEAR SUSAN: There are better ways to cope with your anxiety than "throwing the baby out with the bathwater." You are not the same person you were in college. You have grown and are obviously more aware of the consequences of your actions.

Because you are anxious about making a commitment to "the love or your life" -- someone with whom you have many things in common -- it's time to schedule an appointment with a licensed counselor to discuss it. It will be time and money well spent.

Dear Abby is written by Abigail Van Buren, also known as Jeanne Phillips, and was founded by her mother, Pauline Phillips. Write Dear Abby ator P.O.
Nigerian Islamist raid in northeast town

By Ibrahim Mshelizza

BAMA, Nigeria (Reuters) - Suspected members of the Nigerian Islamist sect Boko Haram armed with machineguns laid siege on the northeastern town of Bama on Tuesday, freeing over 100 prison inmates and leaving 55 people dead, the military said.

Around 200 heavily armed members of Boko Haram arrived in buses and pick-up trucks and carried out a coordinated strike, first hitting the army barracks and the police station before breaking into the town's prison, military spokesman Sagir Musa told Reuters.

Musa said 22 police officers, 14 prison officials, two soldiers and four civilians were killed, while 13 of the group's own members died, in what was one of the rebel's most deadly single strikes since a 2009 uprising.

Gunmen freed 105 prisoners during the raid which began at around 5 a.m. (0400 GMT) and lasted almost five hours, Musa said. He said some of the attackers were dressed in army uniforms.

Bama's police station, army barracks and government buildings were set ablaze, he said.

"They came in army uniform pretending to be soldiers but were able to detect them," Musa said.

Bama is a small, remote town in northeastern Borno state, Boko Haram's home state and the nucleus of its attacks.

"The call to prayer was just being said at about 5 a.m. when the Boko Haram started shooting from all directions and we ran for our lives," eyewitness Amina Usman told Reuters.

"One woman who could not run burned to death," Usman added.

The Boko Haram sect and offshoots such as the al Qaeda-linked Ansaru, as well as associated criminal networks, pose the main threat to stability in Africa's top energy producer.

Western governments are increasingly concerned about Nigerian militants linking up with other jihadist groups in the West African region.

Boko Haram wants to carve out an Islamic state in a country split roughly equally between Christians and Muslims. One of its chief demands is that its imprisoned members and family members are released and it has carried out several prison breaks.

Attacks by Boko Haram have killed more than 3,000 people since 2009, based on figures from Human Rights Watch.

Violence in Nigeria's northeast has shown no signs of abating. Clashes between Islamists and a multinational force from Nigeria, Niger and Chad killed dozens of people last month.

A senator who visited the site said 228 people were killed, but the military puts the figure at 37.

President Goodluck Jonathan has set up a committee to work out the terms of an amnesty for the rebels but their leader, Abubakar Shekau, has shown no interest in it so far.

(Additional reporting by Tim Cocks in Maiduguri; Writing by Joe Brock; Editing by Michael Roddy)

http://edelmirayvod.jimdo.com/2013/04/28/downloads-formula-one-encyclopedia-book/
http://ballosec.info/1/books/With%20Love%20Now%20%26%20Forever
http://friendfeed.com/nuuuuoh/45d60033/mutant-files-book
http://friendfeed.com/hmuvr/3657ab23/download-lexicon-e-book
http://toryerfde.webs.com/apps/blog/show/25996654
http://friendfeed.com/cdnpq/3622da99/our-fragile-world-challenges-and
http://friendfeed.com/ocseyus/680da0a3/download-praying-your-way-out-of-bondage
http://friendfeed.com/oyyeqe/bf9a54a7/downloads-money-saver-guide-to-factory-outlets
http://friendfeed.com/oanunz/0de88e2d/wish-club-novel-ebook
http://friendfeed.com/cdnpq/0fc58014/download-prentice-hall-handbook-of-laboratory
http://friendfeed.com/usuooue/c97bbb90/downloads-napkin-origami-25-creative-and-fun
http://friendfeed.com/ocseyus/18d06e14/high-marks-for-malice-nancy-drew-files-case-32
http://friendfeed.com/oyyeqe/282cf443/centennial-of-powered-flight-retospective
http://friendfeed.com/oanunz/52de4788/download-why-lawyers-should-eat-bananas-e-book
http://friendfeed.com/ideqodb/d21d3824/horse-and-his-boy-book-3-chronicles-of-narnia
http://friendfeed.com/usuooue/cd1fdd52/nora-downloads
http://friendfeed.com/fufeu/3cb813ee/download-feathered-crown-e-book
http://friendfeed.com/ocseyus/0da023c2/getting-started-with-google-wave-downloads
http://friendfeed.com/uyauvlr/236604ac/downloads-first-six-weeks-of-school-1st-6-ebook

SKorea president welcomed at White House

WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama welcomed South Korea's new leader Park Geun-hye to the White House Tuesday, looking to present a strong front against North Korea's nuclear threats but also leave the door open to talks with Pyongyang.

Ahead of the meeting, U.S. officials said North Korea has taken a step back from its recent escalation of regional tensions by removing from its launch site a set of medium-range ballistic missiles that had been readied for possible test-firing.

Park arrived at the White House, with a color guard lining the driveway from Pennsylvania Avenue. Her visit marks the 60th anniversary of the U.S.-South Korean alliance. Her Oval Office meeting, working lunch and joint news conference with Obama will be followed Wednesday by an address to a joint meeting of Congress.

Park has had something of a baptism of fire since she took office in February, two weeks after North Korea's latest atomic test ratcheted up tensions on the divided Korean Peninsula and undermined her hopes of forging a more trusting relationship with a difficult neighbor.

After the U.N. Security Council tightened sanctions on North Korea in response to the nuclear test its third since 2006 it claims to have scrapped the 1953 Korean War armistice and has threatened nuclear strikes on the U.S., prompting Washington to bolster missile defenses.

Two Musudan missiles at a site in eastern North Korea had been in what American officials described as launch-ready status for some weeks. Two U.S. officials confirmed their removal on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss a matter involving sensitive U.S. intelligence. It's not clear why they removed the missiles in recent days, but Pentagon press secretary George Little said on Monday that U.S. officials have seen a "provocation pause" by North Korea.

Park touched down in New York on Monday, meeting first with U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, a former South Korean foreign minister who praised her "firm but measured" response to North Korean provocations and determination to resolve their differences though dialogue.

However, Park made clear in an interview on the eve of her visit that she was willing to get tough on North Korea. She told CBS News that if South Korea came under attack, "We will make them pay."

Park, the first democratically elected female leader in Northeast Asia, is no stranger to Seoul's Blue House, as the residence of the chief executive is known. She's the daughter of the late South Korean dictator Park Chung-hee, and in her 20s she took over the duties of first lady for five years after a gunman claiming orders from North Korea killed her mother in a botched attack targeting her father.

While focused squarely on the North Korean threat, Park's visit is a chance to build a rapport with Obama, who enjoyed an unusually close bond with the previous South Korean leader, Lee Myung-bak. The two presided over the adoption of a U.S.-South Korean free trade pact in 2012 that expanded the scope of an alliance largely built on security ties and deterring an attack from the North. Some 28,500 U.S. troops are still based in South Korea for that purpose.

Lee took a hard line on relations with Pyongyang, cutting aid to the impoverished nation. While his approach had Obama's firm backing, public frustration in the South has mounted over the North's continued weapons tests and provocations " including attacks in 2010 that left dozens of South Koreans dead.

In a change of tone, Park, although a conservative, has advocated trying to build trust with Pyongyang through aid shipments and large-scale economic initiatives if there's progress on the nuclear issue, even as she and South Korea's military promise to respond forcefully to any possible attack from the North.

But to date, relations have only gotten worse. Most recently, North Korea has withdrawn its 53,000 workers from an industrial park on its territory run by South Korean companies. After Pyongyang rejected Seoul's offer of talks, the South last week withdrew its last staff from the facility, closing the last remaining symbol of inter-Korean cooperation that began during the "sunshine" engagement policy championed by Lee's more liberal predecessors.

On Tuesday, North Korea threatened the U.S. and South Korea over joint naval drills taking place this week in the Yellow Sea. The section of the Korean People's Army responsible for operations in North Korea's southwest said it will strike back if any shells fall in its territory during the drills. Should the allies respond to that, the statement said, Pyongyang's military would then strike five South Korean islands that stand along the aquatic frontline between the countries.

Daniel Russel, White House senior director for Asian affairs, said Obama would reaffirm the U.S. commitment to the defense of South Korea. He said the joint appearance of the two leaders at the White House would make it crystal clear to Pyongyang that the allies stand shoulder to shoulder.

"In dealing with North Korea, it's vital we show unity," Russel told reporters.

Dealing with Pyongyang's secretive regime, never easy, has become increasingly tough under the unpredictable young leader Kim Jong Un, who came to power after the death of his father Kim Jong Il in December 2011.

Russel cautioned it was premature to judge whether North Korea's cycle of provocation "is going up, down or zigzagging." He said both the U.S. and South Korea support "incremental engagement" with Pyongyang, but it has to take "irreversible steps" signaling a commitment to end its nuclear program.

The past year has already seen disconcerting progress in the North's weapons development, including its first successful launch of a three-stage, long-range rocket, although it is not yet believed to have to have the means to fire a nuclear-tipped missile at mainland America.

The Obama administration has put increasing emphasis on the role the North's main ally and benefactor, China, can play to press Pyongyang to honor its previous commitments on denuclearization. In a significant move, one of China's biggest banks said Tuesday it has halted business with a North Korean bank accused by the U.S. of financing Pyongyang's missile and nuclear programs in the latest sign of Beijing's displeasure with its estranged ally.

____

Associate Press National Security Writer Robert Burns and writer Jim Kuhnhenn contributed to this report

http://brittaniyus.orbs.com/
http://susanneo.skyrock.com/3160454882-Downloads-Carroll-Dunham-Prints-Catalogue-Raisonne-1984-2006-Addison.html
http://loraineyomo.skyrock.com/3160454884-Download-The-People-s-Guide-To-Deadly-Drug-Interactions-How-To-Protect.html
http://friendfeed.com/aobpypa/c62b15c0/download-2007-3rd-international-conference-on
http://felishauthez.webs.com/apps/blog/show/26206197
http://friendfeed.com/ouphpk/31e4d5a1/downloads-d-day-in-ashes-e-book
http://classiebmo.soup.io/post/311306251/Downloads-Info-Trail-Emergent-Stage-to-Rent
http://norikomhuoq.webs.com/apps/blog/show/26206198
http://madgebkds.soup.io/post/311306268/Downloads-A-Childs-History-of-England
http://jennyyad.jimdo.com/2013/05/07/female-genital-cutting-editorial-an-article-from-internal-medicine-news-download/

Ex-baseball catcher rehearsing for balle

MIAMI BEACH, Florida (AP) Mike Piazza knows that some people think it's funny for a baseball player to take up ballet, but the former catcher hopes to turn whoever is jeering him now into dance fans when he takes the stage with Miami City Ballet next month.

"You gotta sometimes have the courage to go out there and do something like this, and I think the overall effect will be positive," Piazza said Tuesday after his costume fitting for the role of a gangster in "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue."

Piazza will walk on stage and say a few lines in the company's May 3 production of the ballet George Balanchine choreographed as part of the 1930s musical "On Your Toes."

"If I have to take a few good-natured insults, you know, I've taken a lot of abuse before so, no question, I've got big shoulders," he said. "The bottom line is to draw attention to the show, to the arts, the art of ballet and dancing in general. It's something I'm very excited about."

He literally has big shoulders, too. In the ballet company's costume department, he swung his arms and shrugged his shoulders to test his range of motion in a taupe houndstooth suit usually worn by more lithe male dancers. Some tailoring would be required, along with a larger-sized fedora.

Even if he won't be dancing in the costume, he wanted to make sure his character could swagger convincingly to open a ballet featuring gangsters, strippers and an attempted murder plot.

Piazza, who had 427 career home runs and made 12 All-Star Game appearances, didn't know anything about Balanchine when he first stepped into the rehearsal studio, though he did impress the dancers with the exaggerated accent and smoking habit that he gave his character.

"He knows a lot about acting, which makes it a lot easier," said principal soloist Kleber Rebello, who will play the part of a jealous Russian dancer who hires Piazza's gangster to kill his rival.

"He'll be bringing different people, maybe people who haven't watched ballet yet. It's definitely a good opportunity," Rebello said.

Attracting new audience members has been a priority at the Miami Beach dance company, which is embracing new collaborations after a financial restructuring and a change in artistic director. One such collaboration paired two ballerinas with Miami Heat basketball players LeBron James and Dwyane Wade for a recent ad campaign promoting downtown Miami's cultural scene.

Piazza, whose daughter is a student at Miami City Ballet School, said he's eager to help boost the dancers' image among sports fans.

Philip Neal, who is staging the production and coaching Piazza in his role, said he was thrilled that athletes such as Piazza are highlighting the athleticism and discipline of dance, particularly for boys. Neal played Little League baseball before growing up to dance at New York City Ballet when Piazza played for the New York Mets.

"It's a very taxing and athletic activity," Neal said. "I'm really grateful for Mike to bring some light to that fact."

___

Online:

Miami City Ballet: www.miamicityballet.org

___

Follow Jennifer Kay on Twitter at www.twitter.com/jnkay

http://crystleeon.orbs.com/samsung+corp.%3A+international+competit
http://mistiicbu.orbs.com/land+development+handbook+book+downl
http://virgiliobeq.orbs.com/l%27arte+del+discorso+%28italian+edition%29+d
http://friendfeed.com/zuouo/64fe3e31/brief-sketch-of-life-and-writings-sidney-lanier
http://dottieuocruy.webs.com/apps/blog/show/25905671
http://friendfeed.com/irfkzub/480035f9/downloads-mr-fullservice-book
http://avisuoeri.webs.com/apps/blog/show/25905672
http://jarrettbqoh.guildomatic.com/news/show/1470409
http://sarahoqe.guildomatic.com/news/show/1470411
http://twitpic.com/clplf9
http://gaynelltvu.skyrock.com/3157888696-New-Witness-for-the-Articles-of-Faith-downloads.html
http://jennionl.skyrock.com/3157888700-Early-Onset-of-Night-Volume-One-download.html
http://marcelleepii.guildomatic.com/news/show/1470415
