New Albany High School boys golf coach Andrew

New Albany High School boys golf coach Andrew Norman knew his team was capable of putting up low numbers in the Division I sectional tournament Oct. 2 at The Players Club at Foxfire.

Yet, he was a bit surprised by the Eagles' performance.

Seeded fourth, New Albany shot a 298 to outperform defending state Nike Air Jordan 8 champion Dublin Jerome, the second seed. The Celtics placed second with a 305, with ninthseeded Teays Valley (313) and 13thseeded Olentangy (323) rounding out the top four.

The top four teams and top four individuals not on a qualifying team from each of the three sectional sites advanced to the district tournament Oct. 9 at Apple Valley. The top three teams and top three individuals not on a qualifying team at district advance to the state tournament Oct. 19 and 20 at Ohio State's Scarlet Course.

you knock out Jerome from the top spot, you played well, Norman said. shoot under 300 at this course is quite a feat. Our top four golfers were 1under (par) at the turn, and that gives you some breathing room on the toughest part of the course. was a dogfight between Upper Arlington and ourselves, Pickerington North coach Casey Milligan said. had some real battles all year. They been the one team that played with us as well as anybody. I fully expected it to be a dogfight and it was.

just that with the two of us, our teams are going to fight tooth and nail when we see each other.

Qualifying individually from The Players Club were Canal Winchester's Gentry Thompson (72), Grove City's Andrew Ray (77), Delaware's Grant Godfrey (80) and Reynoldsburg's Darnell Ellis (82). Ellis won a onehole playoff for the final qualifying spot with Westerville South's Justin Arens and Westerville Central's Austin Kondratick.

Thompson and air jordan australia New Albany's Jack Carter and Avery Schneider each shot a 72 to share medalist honors.

The individual qualifiers from Granville were Granville's Nick Contini (73), Newark's Nick Shipley (74), Gahanna's Alex Vegh (74) and Thomas Worthington's Curtis Salmans (77). Salamans won a twohole playoff with Licking Heights' Andrew Bailey for the final qualifying spot.

UA's Matt Arnold and Pickerington North's Alex Weiss each carded a 71 to share medalist honors. Cowans (78).

Cohen shared medalist honors with Hilliard Darby's Joo Lee (72) and Coffman's Nick Sparling (72). Lee advanced but will not compete at district because he will be playing in an AJGA tournament in Stillwell, Okla. As a result, Tarrant and Cowans weren't required to have a playoff for the final qualifying spot.

had a good score, but we definitely left some shots out there on the course, Coffman coach David Woodmansee said. guys put themselves in a situation to where they could make a few mistakes coming in and still win.

have the potential to do better. This was the first time playing at sectional for a lot of our guys, and they can use their experience here to help them at district.

Last season, Jerome won the district championship with a 296, with UA (297) and Coffman (299) Nike Air Jordan 3 also advancing to state. At state, the Celtics finished first in the 12team field with a 36hole score of 623. Centerville (626) was runnerup, with UA (629) and Coffman (636) placing third and fourth, respectively.

(placing second at sectional is) a little disappointing because our team goal when we tee it up is not to get second place, Jerome coach Craig Zesiger said. in the postseason, the ultimate goal is to move on to next week and we were able to get that done. It still a little disappointing to come in second.

The shoe has been a consistent hit since then

SEATTLE (AP) The release of Nike's retro Air Jordans caused a frenzy at stores across the nation early Friday, with hundreds of people lining up for a chance to buy the classic basketball shoes and rowdy crowds breaking down doors and starting fights in at least two cities.People started gathering around midnight at four stores in the Westfield Southcenter mall in suburban Seattle for a chance to buy the shoes, which retail for $180 a pair, Tukwila Officer Mike Murphy said. "Around 4, it started to get pretty unruly and officers sprayed pepper spray on a few people who were fighting, and that seemed to do the trick to break them up."No injuries were reported, although some people suffered cuts or scrapes from fights."He did not get his shoes; he went to jail," Murphy said.In Lithonia, Ga., at least four people were arrested early Friday at a mall after a crowd of customers broke down a door at a store selling the Air Jordans before it opened.DeKalb County police told Fox 5 Atlanta that up to 20 squad cars responded. Officers said they escorted most of the people outside but took four into custody.Police also said they had to break a car window to get two Nike Air Jordan 1 toddlers out after a woman went in after the shoes. They said she was taken into custody when she returned to the car. It's not the first time the Nikes have caused an uproar. Some people were mugged or even killed for early versions of the Air Jordan shoe, which Nike Inc. created in 1985.The shoe has been a consistent hit since then with sneaker fans. A new edition was launched each year, and release dates had to be moved to the weekends at some points to keep kids from skipping school to get a pair.No one anticipated the hysteria around the original Air Jordan, which spawned a subculture of collectors willing to wait hours to buy the latest pair. But the shopping frenzy over the shoe had died down in recent years. These latest incidents instead seem to be part of trend of increasing acts of violence at retailers this holiday shopping season, such Nike Air Jordan 11 as the shopper who peppersprayed others at a Walmart in Los Angeles on Black Friday and crowds looting a clothing store in New York.A representative for Nike, based in Beaverton, Ore., was not immediately available to comment. In Tukwila, Murphy said the crowd was on the verge of a riot and would have gotten even more out of hand if the police hadn't intervened."It was not a nice, orderly group of shoppers," Murphy said. "There were a lot of hostile and disorderly people."About 25 officers from Tukwila, Renton, Kent, Seattle and King County responded. Murphy said they smelled marijuana and found alcohol containers at the scene. The Southcenter mall's stores sold out of the Air Jordan 11 Retro Concords, and all but about 50 people got their Nikes, Murphy said.Hundreds of customers also lined up outside shoe stores in downtown Seattle and at a mall in nearby Federal Way.In Portland, Ore., a line started forming Thursday Nike Air Jordan 4 morning outside the downtown Nike store for customers waiting for Friday's rerelease of the Nike shoe. The Oregonian reported the Air Jordan appeal is only partly nostalgia for the former NBA star. Collectors known as "sneakerheads" save them for special occasions or never take them out of the box..

And if it doesn you probably never got over that crush on Kevin Bacon back in junior high.

I had just come from my rookie preseason in Seat

Greetings, Minnesotans! We had some good times together over the years, some fun memories, and I'm superbummed out about having to leave the state.

When I first arrived in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, I walked out of the airport to a beatup waiting Expedition with absolutely no idea what was in store for me.

I had just come from my rookie preseason in Seattle, where I thought I was going to be on the practice squad, and instead was informed I would be Minnesota's starting punter going into Week One of the regular season.

I didn't know anyone on the team. I didn't know where anything was located. I didn't even know who my coaches were, or that being claimed off waivers was actually a thing. The only thing I knew was that this was my chance, and I tried to make the most of it.

Eight and a half years later, I knew my coaches. I knew my teammates. I knew how to get around downtown Minneapolis, when to avoid the 35W/94 exchange, where to go for sushi, and Thai food, and steaks.

I knew friends, where they lived, what they liked to do, when we could hang out in between the busy days of the football season.

I knew that the hot summer thunderstorm months of June and July would gradually cool down to August's brisk air, the leaves changing color as geese started appearing overhead. I knew that October and November would bring their puffy gray clouds, their flurries of snow, Nike Air Mags their cold mornings with delicate traceries of frost outlining each individual grass blade.

I knew that winter would come, and it wouldn't leave for a while the dreary months of January and February with the wind whipping through until I could feel my nose hairs freezing the instant I went outside and took a breath. The piled snowbanks that only seemed to grow larger, the stamping of boots anytime I had to go somewhere, the warmth of a lighted kitchen while muffled flakes gently drifted out of a dark sky.

I knew that the snow eventually did go Nike Air Jordan 13 away, even if it seemed to take forever, and that the muddy months of March and April would eventually break forth into thick green growth as the sun finally reappeared up above. I knew that these were actual seasons, so different than the eternal sunshine of Southern California, the place where I grew up and went to school.

And then, one day, I knew I had to leave. The team decided to move in a different direction. My services were no longer required, and such is the way of life in the NFL. I knew that my wife and I would have to pack up our house, bid farewell to our friends, prepare to leave behind the playset we had put into our backyard for our daughters far too big to take back with us with its thick wood frame and plastic yellow slide. Our house had become a home over the years, and hopefully whoever takes it over treats it well.

MinnPost photo by Jana FreibandKSTP sports anchor Joe Schmit performing with Kluwe in a skit from MinnRoast 2013 in April at the Pantages Theatre.

I knew I would leave Minnesota with all the memories eight and a half years allows you to accumulate. The delicious meals at Spice Thai in Burnsville, where they knew my order before I would even place it. The music recorded at Flowers Studio in south Minneapolis with my band, long days spent trying to capture that elusive spark of creation. Anniversary filets at Manny's, and birthday sushi at Seven Christmas trips to the Mall of America searching for that one perfect gift. The sight of the city skyline in the distance as I would get on 35W from Savage, heading downtown to stay at the Hilton the night before a game, talking with the security guards as we took the elevator up to the team floor. Softball games, paintball matches, zoo trips and everything else.

I will miss all of that. I will miss my teammates, my friends, my house. I will miss Minnesota, a state I never even really thought about until I was informed that I would be working there. I will miss the fans, and how loud they made the Old Inflatable Toilet during key moments, sound echoing down from that dirty old roof (back before it collapsed) and deafening the other team.

I will miss everything, but I will remember it all, and no matter how it ended, I will treasure the time I got to spend in this fine state.

Especially that you finally Nike Air Jordan 5 laid to rest the "dumb jock" meme.

(I had seen guys like you before, walking the halls of Mahnomen Public schools back in my "good old days" as a teacher where the football team (a bunch of whom were in my high school choir) came back to school the Monday after winning the state football championship for our class the first time ever and acted as if nothing special had happened over the weekend),.

truly talented, excellent, smart, wellspoken guys without a "dumb jock" anywhere to be seen.

Stop back as often as you can. You'll always have a place here.

Good luck and blessings to you and your family in all the days to come!

Complimenting Kluwe and expressing sadness that he's going is nothing more than "kissing butt." And because Kluwe had "some hard seasons in the last couple years" he is automatically disqualified from any accolades because the focus has to be on what he didn't do and not on what he accomplished.

Anyone paying attention to the man,Chris Kluwe one, can't but help feel his genuine ,heartfelt honesty. We have been blessed by getting to know and appreciate this man of the people. Brains and brawn can coexist as we have a witness to in the persona of Chris Kluwe. He will always be in many hearts and minds here in the upper Midwest. Gratitude goes to him for opening the hearts and minds of many. One just got to appreciate the generation he hails from. No longer will the bigots of earlier Times dominate with their ignorance.

I felt then a passionate desire to see myself

I felt then a passionate desire to see myself, to realise at once in its full horror the ghastly change that had come upon me. I tottered to the mantel, and felt along it for matches. As I did so, a barking cough sprang up in my throat, and I clutched the thick flannel nightdress I found about me. There were no matches there, and I suddenly realised that my extremities were cold. Sniffing and coughing, whimpering a little, perhaps, I fumbled back to bed. “It is surely a dream,” I whispered to myself as I clambered back, “surely a dream.” It was a senile repetition. I pulled the bedclothes over my shoulders, over my ears, I thrust my withered hand under the pillow, and determined to compose myself to sleep. Of course it was a dream. In the morning the dream would be over, and I should wake up strong and vigorous again to my youth and studies. I shut my eyes, breathed regularly, and, finding myself wakeful, began to count slowly through the powers of three.

But the thing I desired would not come. I could not get to sleep. And the persuasion of the inexorable reality of the change that had happened to me grew steadily. Presently I found myself with my eyes wide open, the powers of three forgotten, and my skinny fingers upon my shrivelled gums, I was, indeed, suddenly and abruptly, an old man. I had in some unaccountable manner fallen through my life and come to old age, in some way I had been cheated of all the best of my life, of love, of struggle, of strength, and hope. I grovelled into the pillow and tried to persuade myself that such hallucination was possible. Imperceptibly, steadily, the dawn grew clearer.

When he grew sensible he learned history

The Prince was brought up with great care; and, as soon as he could speak, they told him all sorts of dreadful stories about people who had short noses. No one was allowed to come near him whose nose did not more or less resemble his own, and the courtiers, to get into favor with the Queen, took to pulling their babies’ noses several times every day to make them grow long. But, do what they would, they were nothing by comparison with the Prince’s.

When he grew sensible he learned history; and whenever any great prince or beautiful princess was spoken of, his teachers took care to tell him that they had long noses.

His room was hung with pictures, all of people with very large noses; and the Prince grew up so convinced that a long nose was a great beauty, that he would not on any account have had his own a single inch shorter!

When his twentieth birthday was passed the Queen thought it was time that he should be married, so she commanded that the portraits of several princesses should be brought for him to see, and among the others was a picture of the Dear Little Princess!

Now, she was the daughter of a great king, and would some day possess several kingdoms herself; but Prince Hyacinth had not a thought to spare for anything of that sort, he was so much struck with her beauty. The Princess, whom he thought quite charming, had, however, a little saucy nose, which, in her face, was the prettiest thing possible, but it was a cause of great embarrassment to the courtiers, who had got into such a habit of laughing at little noses that they sometimes found themselves laughing at hers before they had time to think; but this did not do at all before the Prince, who quite failed to see the joke, and actually banished two of his courtiers who had dared to mention disrespectfully the Dear Little Princess’s tiny nose!

The others, taking warning from this, learned to think twice before they spoke, and one even went so far as to tell the Prince that, though it was quite true that no man could be worth anything unless he had a long nose, still, a woman’s beauty was a different thing; and he knew a learned man who understood Greek and had read in some old manuscripts that the beautiful Cleopatra herself had a “tip-tilted” nose!

The Prince made him a splendid present as a reward for this good news, and at once sent ambassadors to ask the Dear Little Princess in marriage. The King, her father, gave his consent; and Prince Hyacinth, who, in his anxiety to see the Princess, had gone three leagues to meet her was just advancing to kiss her hand when, to the horror of all who stood by, the enchanter appeared as suddenly as a flash of lightning, and, snatching up the Dear Little Princess, whirled her away out of their sight!

My wife is almost broken-hearted

The detective, meanwhile, had come up with her some time before she entered the hotel, into which he followed her. Asking the landlady to detain her for an hour or so, without giving any reason beyond showing his authority (which made the landlady applaud herself a good deal for having locked her in), he went back to the police-station to report his proceedings. He could have taken her directly; but his object was, if possible, to trace out the man who was supposed to have committed the robbery. Then he heard of the discovery of the brooch; and consequently did not care to return.

Norah slept till even the summer evening began to close in. Then up. Some one was at the door. It would be Mr. Frank; and she dizzily pushed back her ruffled grey hair, which had fallen over her eyes, and stood looking to see him. Instead, there came in Mr. Openshaw and a policeman.

“This is Norah Kennedy,” said Mr. Openshaw.

“O, sir,” said Norah, “I did not touch the brooch; indeed I did not. O, sir, I cannot live to be thought so badly of;” and very sick and faint, she suddenly sank down on the ground. To her surprise, Mr. Openshaw raised her up very tenderly. Even the policeman helped to lay her on the sofa; and, at Mr. Openshaw’s desire, he went for some wine and sandwiches; for the poor gaunt woman lay there almost as if dead with weariness and exhaustion.

“Norah!” said Mr. Openshaw, in his kindest voice, “the brooch is found. It was hanging to Mrs. Chadwick’s gown. I beg your pardon. Most truly I beg your pardon, for having troubled you about it. My wife is almost broken-hearted. Eat, Norah,— or, stay, first drink this glass of wine,” said he, lifting her head, pouring a little down her throat.

As she drank, she remembered where she was, and who she was waiting for. She suddenly pushed Mr. Openshaw away, saying, “O, sir, you must go. You must not stop a minute. If he comes back he will kill you.”
