Always be relaxed no matter what grip you choose. This Golf Swing Lesson will focus on grip and who should use the different types of grips. A really tight grip on your golf club will kill your swing. Im sure you've heard the phrase once or twice, but you want to grip the golf club like a baby bird; hold it too tight and you'll kill it. This Golf Swing Lesson focuses on your grip.

You start by holding your club right in front of you holding it with your right hand and the club head should be pointing away from you at a 45 degree angle. Next, place your left hand on the club gripping it. Most of the grip will come from the palms and base of the fingers. However, make sure the club lies across the first section of the index finger. Your left thumb should be aligned with the club pointing straight down the shaft.

With your right hand, grip the club above your left hand with your fingers and not your palm. your thumb should be pointing to the 11 o'clock position relative to your left thumb. If you have gripped the golf club correctly, only the first two knuckles of your left hand will be visible and your left thumb should be hidden under your right hand. The index finger position of the right hand should feel like a trigger finger.

The Overlapping Grip is the most common grip. This little finger on your right hand will overlap the index finger on the left hand.
