I've long been fascinated by a Russian variant of this tale, from the Ural mountains. (Zhiharka and the Fox) tells the tale of a little girl who lives with two blacksmiths (a cat and a sparrow. While they are off to the market, to sell their wares, the fox kidnaps Zhiharka. The first time, she is recovered by the smiths. But, the second time, the fox takes Zhiharka to her home, with the intent of tricking her into the oven and then eating her. Zhiharka plays dumb and gets the fox to climb into the oven, by way of demonstration, and Zhiharka realizes she is missing out on potential treats from the market and starts to run home. The fox emerges from the chimney, blackened and screaming, which causes Zhiharka to mistake her for Baba Yaga (the quintessential Russian witch. Ultimately, the fox is defeated by the smiths (who have swords among their products. So, you have the young child, who is taken out into the woods. twice. and then, turns the table on a 'witch' who tries to trick them into an oven. The main twist is that Zhiharka doesn't necessarily outsmart the fox. She is so mischievous and precocious, that she ends up being a handful more than even the wily fox can manage (without actually realizing that the fox meant her harm.

Sinopsis

Un clásico cuento de hadas regresará a la pantalla grande entre los primeros estrenos del nuevo año: Gretel & Hansel - 57%, una reinvención de la conocida historia de los dos niños del cuento de los Hermanos Grimm, publicado en 1812, donde deben huir de una bruja caníbal que los había secuestrado en su casa que, curiosamente, estaba construida con pasteles y dulces que atraen a cualquier niño. La nueva versión que luce muy prometedora gracias a su tráiler y los pósters que se han lanzado llegará en los últimos días de este mes, con una fecha de estreno fijada para el 31 de enero en México.

A diferencia de la historia que muchos recuerdan, los avances del filme dirigido por Oz Perkins sugieren que estamos ante una historia realmente siniestra que hará que veamos el cuento con otros ojos, gracias a su historia que reúne elementos de fantasía, terror y suspenso, protagonizada por una actriz que de seguro más de uno encontrará como una interesante adición al elenco aunque se trata de uno de los roles principales, pero eso lo trataremos con más detalles a continuación.
¿De qué tratará?
Escrita por Oz Perkins y Rob Hayes, Gretel & Hansel nos regresa mucho tiempo atrás para contar la historia de una niña, que junto con su pequeño hermano se ven obligados a abandonar su hogar para encontrar una nueva fuente de comida y trabajo con la que deberán sobrevivir. En el camino se encuentran con un cazador que les brinda ayuda, pero al desorientarse le pierden el rastro y terminan atrapados en un oscuro bosque del que no conocen nada. Todo cambia cuando, en el medio del bosque, encuentran una misteriosa cabaña que está habitada por una amable anciana. Al comienzo se dejan llevar por las apariencias, pero en época de escasez de comida que ella haga constantes despliegues de grandes festines es demasiado sospechoso, y eso llevará a los hermanos a que se den cuenta de que las cosas se están poniendo realmente extrañas. Así, la pregunta es si podrá Gretel proteger a su hermano pequeño o si se rendirá ante la situación, que no hará más que ponerse oscura conforme transcurre el tiempo.

El reparto
Está encabezado por Sophia Lillis, sí, la misma que protagonizó la serie Sharp Objects - 96% con Amy Adams y tanto It (Eso) - 85% como It: Capítulo Dos - 80%. En esta película interpretará a Gretel, una joven de 16 años que debe cuidar de su hermano mientras se ven obligados a dejar su hogar para buscar trabajo y comida. Sammy Leakey interpreta a Hansel, el hermano de 8 años, con un papel que marca su debut en la actuación. A ellos se unen Charles Babalola como El Cazador, es decir que el hombre que ayuda a los hermanos a buscar su hogar. Alice Krige como Holda (La Bruja), una terrorífica y poderosa mujer que vive oculta en el bosque y secuestra a Hansel y Gretel, y Jessica De Gouw como la versión más joven de Holda (La Bruja). El talento más llamativo en la película, a primera vista, sin duda será el de Sophia Lillis, quien con apenas 17 años de edad tiene una muy interesante filmografía, y su actuación en Gretel & Hansel podría traerle buenos comentarios y otros papeles en el futuro.

¿Qué esperar?
De Gretel & Hansel podemos esperar un entretenido y diferente enfoque al clásico cuento de hadas en la forma de una película que tiene tintes de horror y fantasía. Se ha contado en diferentes ocasiones la misma historia, pero la producción de Orion Pictures es algo que vale la pena ver. Sin embargo, hay que ir preparados porque la aventura promete ser perturbadora y llena de imágenes que no se olvidarán fácilmente, en especial cuando se trata de la horripilante bruja malvada que secuestra a los protagonistas de la historia.
La película está producida por el equipo que trabajó en La Morgue - 86% y Siniestro. Para recrear el folclore alemán de la historia original, el rodaje se realizó en Dublín, Irlanda entre noviembre y diciembre de 2018, con varios reshoots realizados en en enero de 2019 en Columbia Británica, Canadá.
Sobre el cambio de nombre en la película, que solo puede indicar que la protagonista de la historia es Gretel, el director Oz Perkins especifica que siempre quiso hacer que la historia se centre más en ella que en su hermano. En una entrevista explicó que la nueva versión es muy fiel a la historia original y conserva intactos a sus tres protagonistas (Hansel, Gretel y La Bruja), pero que intentó hacer que parezca más un relato coming-of-age en el que la hermana es mayor que él (ya no son un par de hermanos de entre 10 a 12 años, sino que ella tiene 16 y él 8) porque siempre le dio la impresión que sería Gretel la que dirija a su hermano a todos lados y no al revés. Además, la diferencia de edades le daría más por explorar, como el hecho de que esto puede impedir la evolución del otro, y cómo lo que amas se puede meter en el crecimiento del otro.

synopsis "With a Little Help From My Friends" is a song written by the Beatles (and expertly covered by Joe Cocker) and it could easily be the subtitle for the thirty minute comedy, "Friends". In 1994, the idea was created for "Friends": a show about six friends in New York as they navigate their way through life and learn to grow up as they approach the third decade of their life. All, with the help from each other to get them through the obstacles that life naturally has for us. Monica is the excessively neat and organized "older sister" of the group, who works as a chef while yearning to find her ideal love. Ross, Monica's older brother, is a paleontologist with a lifelong crush on Rachel. He is a laid-back man with low self esteem and a recent divorcee. Rachel is the pretty, bubbly girl who spent most of her life as a spoiled rich princess. Now she must learn to face the real world. Chandler is Ross' college buddy and the guy who will crack jokes at a moment's notice. Phoebe is a lovable eccentric masseuse who easily could have fit in with Haight Ashbury in the 1960s. And Joey, the friend who has an inverse relationship between his good looks and his intelligence. He dreams of becoming an actor. These six individuals make up the cast of Friends. How do I hate "Friends" Let me count the ways:

Firstly, it rated an "F" with the test audience (don't believe me, check The Smoking Gun.

Secondly, it ran 10 years without being remotely funny ONCE (beating the record held by the completely laugh-free 8 year run of Full House, which, like this crap, was produced by a division of the Time Warner media empire, had three males and three females in a completely unrealistic version of a major American city, bland-looking guy of Mediterranean descent trying to get into show business, and a dumb guy named Joey.

Third, that horrible theme makes NSync sound like The Beatles.

Fourth, the cast couldn't act its way out of a paper bag (I thank one of the other posters for pointing out that Jennifer "I'm not a star, I just sleep with them" Aniston is Telly Savalas's goddaughter. Her father is also on Days of Our Lives. Can you say nepotism, boys and girls. br>
Fifth, the writers would eat up clichés like that last one I wrote as if they were brand new. And not only did they steal from the superior-by-default Seinfeld, they stole from Mr. Bean and even Punky Brewster! When Soleil Moon Frye, who really must have needed the money by that point, punched Chandler in the face, even that felt like a retread of a Punky episode where she punched Chad Allen in the face!

Sixth, how can they afford an apartment like that in New York? They hold menial jobs yet they look like they could be living at Southfork. On other, superior, actually FUNNY roommate shows like The Odd Couple, Three's Company, Kate & Allie, and the grand dame of them all, The Golden Girls, they seem to look they are either living with their means or cutting back to afford to pay rent. I've seen fewer logical leaps on Gilligan's Island.

What's worse is all the Emmies it got. Truly great shows like Bob Newhart's two classic sitcoms never won a single thing, yet this wins "Best" Comedy series. This show and Seinfeld (not a terrible show but an extremely overrated one as well) are the reason sitcoms are dead right now and will probably remain dead (the last time sitcoms were declared "dead" in the early 1980s was a golden age in comparison to today. As long as there continue to be reruns and DVD releases of classic, pre-1990s sitcoms such as I Love Lucy, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Bewitched, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Soap, Cheers, Family Ties, Newhart, The Cosby Show, The Golden Girls, Married With Children, Roseanne, pre-2000 Simpsons, and countless others like it then I say let it die.

This is truly the most vile, trite, unfunny, obnoxious television series of all time. I jumped for joy the day it was canceled, and I hope that future generations will see it for the garbage it truly is, because this one has been taken in by the snow job perpetrated by these hacks.
