最近の大学生活 (The latest university life)

こんにちは!

お久しぶりです! Honokita🍓です。

最近は、勉強に部活にで忙しくて中々更新出来てませんでした。すみません...😢

テニスのシーズンは春なので、今は毎週のように試合があります。

明日も、午後3時からと7時から2試合あるので、明日はかなりタフになりそうです😅

アメリカでの試合は隣の州で行われることがよくあるので、移動時間が車で4時間もしくはそれ以上かかることもよくあります。

その次の日にテストがあったりするので、寝る時間も削らされて大変です。

でも、それがまた私にとったらいい意味で充実してて楽しいです! (と、自分に言い聞かせてます笑)

そんな中、この間日本から荷物が届きました!!🇯🇵

中身は、日用品や私が待ちに待ってた日本食などです。日本から届いた蒟蒻ゼリーは数日でなくなりました笑

私の大学は田舎にあるので簡単に日本食が買えなくて、親に頼みました。

通販サイトで日本食を見ましたが、送料で約4000円かかったのでさすがにやめました🤦🏻‍♀️

実は、日本からの荷物を頼んだのは9月中旬で、親が準備してくれて国際郵便に出してくれたのが10月6日でした。去年は、1ヶ月もしないで届きましたが、今回はコロナの影響で船便しかなく大学に届いたのが1月11日でした。

なので、約3ヶ月かかりました。

アメリカ国内の郵便は比較的通常に戻っていますが、やはり国外からの荷物はまだ通常に戻ってないみたいです。

なぜそれにもかかわらず、田舎の大学を選んだかと言うと、私はアメリカの大学を選ぶ際に

・日本人が少ない所

・田舎の大学 (近くに遊ぶ所があったら私にとっては悪影響の為)

・教授と先生の距離が近い所

・テニスで活躍できる所

・奨学金が多く出る所

を重点的に置いて探したからです。アメリカの大学は前回紹介したようにたくさんあるので、自分が理想とする大学が見つけやすいかと思います。

I'm Honokita🍓

I've been busy with my studies and tennis lately, so I haven't been able to update this page.

Sorry about that...😢

The tennis season of the university in the US is in spring, so there are matches every week now.

I have two matches tomorrow as well, one at 3pm and the other at 7pm. So, it's going to be a tough day tomorrow😅

The games in the US are often held in neighboring states, so the travel time is often four hours or more by car.

Somedays, the next day I have a test, so I cannot sleep much. However, it's also very fulfilling university life and fun in a good way for me!

(I keep telling myself that hahaha)

A few weeks ago, I received a package from Japan!!!🇯🇵 The contents included daily necessities and Japanese food that I've been waiting for.

I ate up everything of "The konnyaku jelly" that arrived from Japan in just a couple of days.

My university is located in the countryside, so I couldn't easily buy Japanese food, so I asked my parents. I looked at Japanese food on a website, but the shipping cost about 40 dollars, so I decided not to buy it 🤦🏻‍♀️

Actually, it was mid-September when I asked for my package from Japan, and it was October 6 when my parents sent it to the international mail.

Last year, it arrived in less than a month, but this time, due to Corona, the only way to get it was by sea, and it arrived at the university on January 11.

So, it took about 3 months.

The mail within the U.S. is back to normal, but it seems that packages from outside the country are still not back to normal.

The reason why I chose to go to a university in the countryside is that when I was choosing a university in the U.S.

・Doesn't have many Japanese people

・A university in the countryside (because it would be not good for me if there were places to hang out nearby)

・The distance between student and teacher is close.

・Where I can play tennis as a student-athlete.

・Where there are many scholarships available.

I focused my search on the following points. As I mentioned in the previous article, there are many universities in the US, so I think it will be easy for you to find your ideal university.

授業開始1週目 (The first week of the classes)

こんにちは!

お久しぶりです! Honokita🍓です。

年も越し、2021年になってからもう15日が経ちましたね。

私の大学では、今週から授業が始まりました。

今はコロナの影響もあり、インターナショナル生は最大で2つのオンライン授業を受けれるように切り替わりました。

現在私は、3つの対面授業、2つのオンライン授業を受けています。

アメリカの大学では、卒業するために120単位が必要です。

1つの授業が3単位とカウントされるので、1年に30単位(10クラス)取ればちょうど4年間で卒業できる計算になります。

(まれに、１つの授業につき1単位や2単位のカウントになる場合もあります。)

2学期制の大学であれば、1学期につき15単位(5クラス)を修めれば、4年で卒業です。

なので、夏休みや冬休みに授業を取ったり授業数を増やして3年半もしくは3年で卒業する人もいます。

ただ、これらは専攻を1つにしている場合のみです。アメリカの大学では、ダブルメジャーと言って2つ専攻することも可能です。その場合は専攻によって卒業に必須な単位数が増えていきます。

もっと詳しく言えば、卒業するためには、大学で定められてる必須授業と自分の専攻での必須授業の単位をクリアした上で、合計で120単位をクリアしていれば卒業可能です。

私の場合は、経営学部のマーケティング学科を専攻しているので、大学の必須授業、経営学部の必須授業、マーケティング学科の必須授業、そして合計120単位が卒業する上で必要です。

私は、授業が始まってすぐと日本に帰国する少し前によくホームシックになります。

アメリカに来る前は、親から離れて1人で暮らすとなると自由なので絶対ホームシックになんかならないと思っていましたが、1年目の冬休み直前急にホームシックになって親に電話して泣いてました。笑

現在は2年生の2学期目ですが、授業が始まり、この学期のスケジュールを全ての授業で説明され、耐え抜く事が出来るのかと不安になっています。さらにこの大学は日本人が私1人だけですし、正直投げ出して日本に帰りたくなる時だってもちろんあります。

(毎回学期初めにこんな風になっているので2年目になるとまたこの感情が来たなと思ってなんとか踏ん張っていますが笑)

アメリカの大学は入学するより卒業する方が難しいなんて言いますが、本当にその通りで毎日課題に追われ、その上部活やトレーニングが早朝からあったりもするので大変です。正直1日24時間じゃ足りません笑

おそらく3,4年生になればもっと難しい授業を取る事になり、課題ももっと山積みになるでしょう...。

ですが、これを乗り越えてアメリカの大学を卒業出来れば、輝かしい未来が待っているでしょうし、何より自分に誇りを持てるようになると思います。そう思い日々精進しています。

It's been a while! This is Honokita🍓.

The year has come and gone, and it's already been 15 days since the year 2021.

At my university, classes started this week.

Now, international students can take two online classesto the maximum because of corona.

I am taking three face-to-face classes and two online classes.

In the US, universities require 120 hours to graduate. Each class counts as 3 hours, so if you take 30 hours (10 classes) a year, you can graduate in exactly 4 years.

(In rare cases, some classes may count as 1 or 2 hours.)

If your university has a two-semester system, you can graduate in four years if you complete 15 hours (5 classes) per semester. So, some students take classes during summer and winter breaks or take 6 classes per semester and graduate in 3.5 or 3 years. However, these are only for students who have only one major.

In the US, it is possible to have two majors, which is called a double major. In this case, the number of credits required for graduation increases depending on the major.

To be more specific, in order to graduate, you need to complete the required classes at your university, the required classes in your major, and total of 120 hours.

In my case, I am majoring in marketing of Business Administration, so I need to take the required classes at my university, the required classes at the Business Administration, the required classes at the Marketing, and total of 120 credits to graduate.

I often get homesick after classes start and shortly before I return to Japan.

Before I came to the US, I thought I would never get homesick because I would be free to live alone away from my parents, but just before the winter break of my first year, I suddenly got homesick and called my parents and cried.lol

I'm currently in my second semester of my second year, and I'm worried that I won't be able to endure this semester's schedules, which are explained in every class. Furthermore, I am the only Japanese student at this university, and to be honest, there are times when I want to give up and go back to Japan. (This happens at the beginning of every semester, so I've managed to hold on to the thought that this feeling came again.)

They say that it's harder to graduate from an American university than it is to get in, and it's really true. To be honest, 24 hours a day is not enough.

In my third and fourth years, I will probably have to take more difficult classes, and do more assignments...

However, if I can overcome these challenges and graduate from an American university, I will have a bright future ahead of me, and more importantly, I will be able to take pride in myself. That's what I'm trying to do every day.

アメリカの寮で楽しむクリスマス (Enjoying Christmas in the US)

こんにちは!

Honokita🍓。

もう2020年も残すところあと2日になりましたね。年々時間が経つのが早く感じるのは私だけでしょうか。

今年は、コロナが流行りオリンピックが延期され行動に制限され...

コロナは収束しないまま年末を迎えそうですね。いつ自由に友達と会って旅行に行ったり出来る日が来るのやら。

そんなこんなで日本に約4ヶ月帰ってないので日本食が恋しくてしょうがないです。🍣🍱🍵

そんな時に、先日家族とビデオ通話していたらクリスマスにたこ焼きパーティをしたみたいで妹が美味しそうに食べてる姿を見せてくれました。

(こっちは日本食恋しいのに、たこ焼きなんか見せられたらあかんて笑　その後ビデオも送ってくれました。笑)

私は、クリスマスはオムライスとポテトグラタンにトマト、デザートにオレオチーズケーキとカップケーキを作りました。

私の部屋には、冷蔵庫と小さい炊飯器と電子レンジしかないので作れる料理には限度がありますが、最近は1つの楽しみとして料理をしています。

オムライス🍳

1. 野菜とウインナーを食べやすい大きさに切って700Wのレンジで3分温める。

2. ご飯、ケチャップ、塩コショウと1で温めた材料を混ぜ合わせる。

3. 卵2、3個を割り醤油少々、塩ひとつまみを入れ混ぜる。

4. 耐熱皿にラップをしいて、その上に溶き卵を乗せて丸く広げて700Wのレンジで1分30秒温める。

5. お皿にご飯を盛り付けてその上に卵を乗せて完成。　

ポテトグラタン🥔

1. じゃがいも2個を薄く切る。

2. 耐熱容器に生クリーム100ccと牛乳50cc、塩コショウ少々、あればコンソメを混ぜる。

3. 2のなかに1で切ったじゃがいもを加えて表面をならしてラップをし700Wのレンジで4分温める。

4. チーズを乗せてラップをし、再度3分温めて完成。

オレオチーズケーキ🥧

1. オレオ2袋をクッキーとクリームに分ける。

2. オレオのクッキーは砕いて、半分は型の土台にする。

3. クリームチーズ200gを700Wのレンジで30秒温める。

4. 温めたクリームチーズとオレオのクリームを入れてよく混ぜる。

5. 生クリーム200gを泡立てる。

6. 4に泡立てた生クリームを2、3回に分けて混ぜる。

7. 型に流し込み平にする。

8. 2で残ったオレオクッキーの半分をクリームの上に乗せる。

9. 冷蔵庫で半日〜1日寝かして完成。

カップケーキ🧁

1. 耐熱容器にチョコレート50gを割り入れ、700Wのレンジで1分温める。

2. 砂糖大さじ1と卵1個、サラダ油大さじ1を加えて混ぜる。

3. ホットケーキミックス50gを加えてよく混ぜる。

4. カップケーキの型に1/4くらいまで入れる。

5. 底を叩いて空気を抜く。

6. 耐熱皿に4を乗せて1つずつ700Wのレンジで40秒温める。

7. 耐熱容器にホワイトチョコレート50gを割り入れ、700Wのレンジで30秒温める。

8. 溶けたチョコレートをカップケーキの上に乗せてお好みでデコレーションして完成。

トマトは切っただけです笑🍅

I'm Honokita🍓.

There are only two days left in the year 2020. I feel that time goes so quickly by year after year.

This year, with the corona epidemic, the Olympic in Japan was postponed and our activities were restricted...

It's not probably getting back to normal until the end of the year. I hope that we can freely meet our friends and go on a trip again for our next vacation.

I haven't been back to Japan for about four months, so I'm missing Japanese food.🍣🍱🍵

At that time, when I was on a video call with my family the other day, my sister showed me how she had a Takoyaki party for Christmas.

She showed me she is eating takoyaki looking so good.

(I'm sooooooooo missing Japanese food more than before. I mean she shouldn't have shown me takoyaki. lol)

For Christmas, I made an omelet, a gratin of potatoes, tomatoes, Oreo cheesecake, and cupcakes for dessert.

I only have a refrigerator, a small rice cooker, and a microwave in my room, so I'm limited in what I can cook, but lately, I've been cooking for fun.

Rice omelet🍳

1. Cut vegetables and sausage into bite-sized pieces and heat in a microwave at 700W for 3 minutes.

2. Mix rice, ketchup, salt, and pepper with the warmed ingredients in step 1.

3. Crack 2 or 3 eggs and mix in a little soy sauce and salt.

4. Place a piece of plastic wrap on a heatproof dish, place eggs on top of the plastic wrap, and microwave at 700 W for 1 minute and 30 seconds.

5. Place the rice on a plate and top with the egg mixture.　

gratin of potato🥔

1. Cut two potatoes into thin slices.

2. In a heatproof container, mix 100 cc of cream, 50 cc of milk, a pinch of salt and pepper, and consomme if you have it.

3. Add the sliced potatoes to the mixture, cover with plastic wrap and microwave at 700W for 4 minutes.

4. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave for 4 minutes.

Oreo Cheesecake🥧

1. Divide 2 bags of Oreos into cookies and cream.

2. Crush the Oreo cookies and use half of them as a base for the mold.

3. Warm 200g of cream cheese in a microwave oven at 700W for 30 seconds.

4. Add the warmed cream cheese and Oreo cream and mix well.

5. Whisk 200 g of cream.

6. Add the whipped cream in two or three parts to step 4.

7. Pour the mixture into the molds and flatten.

8. Place half of the Oreo cookies leftover from step 2 on top of the cream.

9. Let sit in the refrigerator for half a day to a day.

Cupcakes🧁

1. Put 50g of the chocolate into a heatproof container and heat in a microwave oven at 700W for 1 minute.

2. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 egg, and 1 tablespoon of salad oil and mix.

3. Add 50g of the pancake mix and mix well.

4. Put the cupcake mold until about 1/4.

5. Tap the bottom to release the air.

6. Put 4 on a baking pan and heat them one by one in a 700W microwave for 40 seconds.

7. Put 50g of the white chocolate into a heatproof container and heat in a microwave oven at 700W for 30 second.

8. Place the melted chocolate on top the cupcake and decorate it as you like.

And I just cut tomatoes🍅

メリークリスマス🎄🎅🏻

こんにちは。Honokita🍓です!

先日はクリスマスでしたね。皆さんはどう過ごされましたか？

私は、初めてアメリカでクリスマスを過ごしました。

というのもコロナの影響の為です。(コロナめ😤)

冬休みは約1ヶ月なのにも関わらず、日本に帰国すれば14日間の隔離生活、アメリカでも隔離する可能性があったからです。

さらに私の大学では、留学生のみ冬休みも寮に無償で住む事を許されました。

私の大学は私学なのですが、公立の大学に通っている知人はそういったようなサポートはなかったみたいです。

もしかすると私学と公立でこういった違いも出てくるかもしれないですね。

あとは、現地に残れば自然と英語を話すので英語力も落ちないだろうと思いアメリカに残る事に決めました。

去年の冬休みと夏休みに日本に帰国した際に、少し英語力が落ちたように感じたのです。私は関西出身ですが、何ヶ月か地元を離れ関西弁を話さないでいると少し標準語に移ったりします。

英語もそんな感じで、すぐには取り戻せますが少し忘れてしまいます。

私の大学では、12月22日に大学に残っている留学生のためにクリスマスパーティーが開かれました。そこで、大学近くの方達からたくさんの食事さらにはクリスマスプレゼントも🎁🥂

(近くのスーパーの$175分のギフトカードとカフェのギフトカードまで頂きました!)

私の大学の近くにはDENSOという日本の企業があり、DENSOのグッズも頂きました。

留学生ならではの経験ができてすごく楽しかったです!!

Merry Christmas🎄🎅🏻

Hello. This is Honokita🍓

The other day was Christmas.

How did you spend it?

I spent my first Christmas in the US because of Corona.

Even though the winter vacation is about a month-long, I had to live in quarantine for 14 days if I returned to Japan, and there was a possibility that I would be quarantined in the US as well.

Furthermore, at my university, only international students were allowed to live in the dorm for free during the winter break.

My university is a private school, but my friend who is a student at public universities did not seem to have such support.

Maybe there will be some differences between private and public universities like that.

I also decided to stay in the US because I thought that if I stayed here, I would have to speak English and I wouldn't lose my English ability.

When I went back to Japan during the last winter and summer vacations, I felt that my English skills had dropped a bit.

I am from the Kansai region, and when I am away from my hometown for a few months and cannot speak the Kansai dialect, I tend to shift to standard Japanese.

It's like that with English, I can get it back quickly but then I forget a little.

At my university, a Christmas party was held on December 22 for the international students who were still at the university.

The people from near the university gave us a lot of food and even Christmas presents🎁🥂

There is a Japanese company called DENSO near my university, and we received DENSO goods.

It was really fun to have an experience that only international students can have!

なぜ私がアメリカ留学したのか (why I studied abroad in the US)

こんにちは!

Honokita🍓です。今回は、なぜ私がアメリカ留学したのかについて書きたいと思います。

まず、きっかけは私が中学3年生の頃でした。

母がたまたまアメリカ留学の説明会に行く事があり、「こんな進学もあるよ」といろいろと詳しく教えてもらったのが最初でした。

その頃は海外の大学に行ってテニスするなんて遠い夢のようで、ぼんやりと自分にもそんなこと出来たらなと思ってた程度。

私は、今まで自分から「こうしたい! ああなりたい!」などあまり思うことはなくタラレバばかり言ってて、自分の強い意思で行動してきたことはありませんでした。

そんなこんなで時日は経ち、高校1年生の冬に千葉で *ショーケースが開かれました。

*ショーケース＝アメリカの大学のコーチが来日し、スポーツの奨学金を出して大学のチームに欲しい子を探しにくる会。

そこで私は初めてアメリカの大学のコーチから直接、大学の授業の事やキャンパス、1日のスケジュユール、テニス部の事、*Student Athelteが評価される理由などを聞きました。

*Student Athlete=スポーツチームに所属している生徒

アメリカ留学の利点

・英語力向上

・豊富な大学の種類と数

・多文化に触れられる

・短大から4年制大学に編入が可能

・就活に活かせる

・大学の試合の規模が大きい

もちろんこれらの利点には個人差があり努力次第ではあります。ですが、私は日本の大学よりもアメリカの大学で挑戦してたくさんの経験を積みたいと思いアメリカ留学を決めました🇺🇸

これが私がアメリカ留学した理由です。何事も行動するのが遅く臆病で人見知りだった私は、少しずつですがこの経験から積極的に人と話したり行動できるようになりました。

(それでもまだまだ周りに比べれば行動力ないですが…)

今振り返れば、あの時千葉に行ったのが今後の人生を変える大きな一歩だったのかなと感じます。

Hello!

This is Honokita🍓 Today, I'd like to write about why I studied abroad in the United States.

First of all, it all started when I was in my third year of junior high school.

My mother happend to go to an information session about studying abroad in the U.S. After that, she explain detail infomation of studying abroad to me.

At the time, going to an American university and playing tennis seemed like a too big dream, and I only vaguely wished I could do something like that.

I had never been one to say, "I want to do this! I want to be like that! I've never had a strong will to take action.

Then, in the winter of my first year of high school, a *showcase was held in Chiba.

*Showcase = a meeting that coaches of an American universitiy come to Japan to look for students who want to join their university teams by offering sports scholarships.

This was the first time to hear directly from an American university coach about the university's classes, campus, daily schedule, tennis club, and why *Student Athelte is valued.

*Student Athlete = a student who is a member of a sports team

Advantages of Studying in the U.S.

・Improvement of English ability

・A wide variety and number of universities

・Learning about lots of different cultures

・Possible to transfer from junior college to a 4-year university

・Can make use to job hunting

・The scale of university games is large

Of course, these advantages vary from person to person and depend on your efforts. However, I decided to study in the U.S. because I wanted to challenge myself and gain a lot of experience at an American university rather than a Japanese university🇺🇸

This is the reason why I decided to study in the US. I was slow to take action, was timid, and shy but little by little, through this experience, I became more proactive in talking and acting with people. Looking back now, I feel that going to Chiba was a big step that will change my life in the future.

はじめまして。

Honokita🍓です！まず、第一弾のブログは自己紹介をしていきたいと思います。英語でも書いてあるのでぜひ勉強がてらに読んでいって下さい!

ほのかん (20歳)

2000年6月5日生まれ、大阪生まれ大阪育ちのバリバリの関西人です。笑

9歳離れた妹が居て父母妹私の、4人家族です。

血液型はB型でマイペースでおっちょこちょいな性格です。よーく最後の大事なところで失敗したりします... (母によく叱られるところです)

後は、いつも笑ってます。俗に言うゲラです。笑

暇な時は乃木坂46やK-POPをインスタで見たり、たまに昭和のアイドルをYoutubeで見たりすることも笑

テレビでやってる懐かしソング特集にある歌が好きです。最近はアメリカにいて日本食が恋しいので ”日本食簡単レシピ” で検索してよく作っています。🇯🇵🍲

2019年夏にアメリカの4年制大学に入学し、現在2年生です。幼少期からずっとしてきたこともあり、大学ではテニス部に所属しています。

I’m Honokita🍓. I'd like to introduce myself.

I was born on June 5, 2000, in Osaka and raised there. So I'm the people of Kansai people.

My blood type is B, I tend to do things at my own pace, and I’m a clumsy person.

I often make mistakes at important points…

(My mother often scolds me about it).

Also, I'm always laughing. People say to me that You are always laughing too much. hahaha

In my free time, I always watch the Nogizaka46 and the K-POP on Instagram, and sometimes I watch the Showa-era idols on Youtube.

I love Japanese old school hits on the TV.

Lately, I've been missing Japanese food since I've been in the US, so I often search for "easy Japanese food recipes” on the website and make them.🇯🇵🍲

In the summer of 2019, I enrolled in a 4-year university in the U.S. Thus, I am a sophomore now.

I have played tennis since childhood so I am a member of the tennis club at the university.

Interest

・Watching videos of idols and singers

・Watching Youtube

・Cleaning up my room.

Goals

・To post information to many people through my blog.

・Find a clear vision of my future.

・To get a TOEIC score of 850 or higher
