5作目のアルバムThe Golden Age of Grotesque(2003)や
映画マトリックス リローデッドのサントラ(2003)などの収録曲。

比較的メタファーが少なく歌詞的にも映像的にもわかりやすい作品。

とにかくベースが渋いぃぃ。
そしてなんなのよこのサビ。卒倒するわ。

MVはベルギーの王立軍事歴史博物館の凱旋門を通るシーンから始まる。
左敬礼が少しだけ映ってるね。

使用されている車はグロッサー・メルセデス 770kで初期モデルの製造数は117台。
そのうち７台は昭和天皇の御料車などに使用され、現在はメルセデス･ベンツ博物館に展示されています。

菊の御紋に西陣織のシート。。ちょっと見てみたい。

よりエレガントなフォルムから察するところ、MVで使用されたのは２代目モデルでしょうか。
製造数はわずか17台でそのほとんどがヒトラーをはじめナチス高官に使用されていたそう。
現在ヒトラーの愛車は、売却されていなければロシアの富豪が所有しているはず。
ロシアの富豪。。。

この写真は、おそらく1936年のベルリンオリンピック当時の、
かつてはナポレオンがパレードをしたブランデンブルク門。
のちにこの目の前にベルリンの壁が出現することになるのね。

五輪と45度の鉤十字。。。異色。

mansonは雑誌Revolverの中でこの作品について、
「19世紀から20世紀初頭の様々な芸術のムーブメントに根ざしている」と語っています。

私の語学力では文章にするのは難しいので一部キーワードだけ。

ワイマール時代のキャバレーやパリのバーレスク、
アメリカのボードビルのウィットでシュールで華やかで挑発的なダンディズム、
それらの群集を楽しませるようなグロテスクさと無邪気なダダイズム。

アルバム The Golden Age of Grotesque(2003)などに収録されています。

のちに、Twiggyが音楽性の違いから一時脱退するきっかけとなった楽曲の一つです。

MVには *Joey Jordisonが友情出演していて、
そのお返しにMansonもMurderdollsのMVに出演しています。

*Joey Jordison：2013年12月にDrums担当だったSlipknotを脱退。Murderdollsではギターを担当。

ゴリゴリの1969年製リンカーンとMansonのラッパースタイル。

"goth thng"からのウサギちゃん。。。。

スペルとかね、もうこのやり過ぎ感が好き。

Live映像は2012年8月18日にハリウッドで開催されたSunset Strip Music Festivalのものです。

2013年に74歳で亡くなった Doors のキーボード奏者 Ray Manzarek と
同バンドのギタリスト Robby Krieger とのセッションで、
Five to One を含めた３曲をカバーしています。

もう楽しくて仕方がない！といった感じ。

こういうアーティスト自身が楽しんでいる映像って大好き。

Mansonは、Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kidsとして活動していた1990年、
自身初のラジオインタビューのなかで、過去に影響を受けたアーティストとして、

また、IN A GADDA DA VIDA (Iron Buttefly)が好きだったとも語っています。

1930年、世界大恐慌の最中にドイツで初演されたオペラ「マハゴニー市の興亡」の劇中曲で、
のちにThe DoorsやDavid Bowieもカバーしています。

Mansonのカバーは今のところオフィシャルには音源化されていないようですが、
どっかのBootlegにでも見つけたら、ぜひ教えてくださいませ。

Live映像は、2003年4月11日のベルリン公演 "Grotesk Burlesk" のものです。

自身のアルバム The Golden Age Of Grotesque (2003) のコンセプトをもとに、
その世界観を視覚化したもので、まさに"SHOW"といった感じ。

演目は3曲全てアコースティックで、
Grotesk Burlesk Tour のそれとは一線を画した内容になっています。

The Dope ShowとThe Golden Age of Grotesqueのパフォーマンスも
Acoustic Liveならではのエレガントさです。

映画「ブレア・ウィッチ・プロジェクト２」のサントラ Book of Shadows（2000）と
自身のシングル Tainted Love (2002) に収録されています。。

オリジナルは、1970年のアメリカ映画 "M*A*S*H" と同名のＴＶドラマのテーマソングとして広く知られ、
のちに多くのアーティストによってカバーされました。

また、書籍「村上ソングズ」（中央公論社）には村上春樹の意訳が掲載されています。


よりメロディアスな楽曲アレンジとMansonの囁くような歌声。
