<![CDATA[ <a href="http://www.nytimes-internship.com/" target="_blank">Summer internships at NY times</a><br><br>The application period for summer 2012 internships has ended.<br>You have to check for 2013 info carefully.<br><br><u><br>Summer Internship Program </u><br><br><br>The New York Times offers 10-week summer internships to college seniors and graduate students who have decided on careers in journalism. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. for the duration of the internship.<br><br>The Times began the program in 1984. In its first 17 years, it was aimed at members of minority groups who, because of race or ethnicity, had been historically excluded from opportunities in America's newspaper industry. While the internships are now open to all applicants, the program remains as an integral part of The Times's commitment to recruit and hire as diverse and as highly qualified a staff as possible.<br><br>The Times offers a summer of demanding work and high journalistic standards in reporting and in visual journalism, and it offers copy-editing internships with placement by the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund, and an online producing internship for NYTimes.com.<br><br>The reporting interns in New York are called the James Reston Reporting Fellows and the reporting internship in Washington, D.C., is named the David Rosenbaum Reporting Fellow.<br><br>The visual journalism program, covering graphics, art design, page design and photography, is called the Thomas Morgan Internship.<br><br>The copy editing internship program is coordinated through the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund Copy Editing program.<br><br>The digital internship is in the newsroom, working with producers and editors of NYTimes.com<br><br>Salary for all four internships: About $900 a week. Housing is available on the New York University campus for about $1,000 monthly.

Traineeships are generally undertaken in the Research and Documentation Directorate, the Press and Information Service, the Directorate-General for Translation or the Interpretation Directorate (for detailed rules regarding interpreting traineeships, see below).<br><br>There are two traineeship periods:<br><br>- from 1 March to 31 July (form to be sent no later than 30 September)<br>- from 1 October to 28 February (form to be sent no later than 30 April)<br><br>as evidenced by the postmark.<br><br>Applicants, who must hold a degree in law or in political sciences (majority content, law) or, for traineeships in the Interpretation Directorate, a diploma in conference interpreting, must print and complete the application form* and send it by post to the Human Resources Unit of the Court of Justice of the European Union, Bureau des stages, GEOS 3032, L-2925 Luxembourg, together with a detailed curriculum vitae and copies of diplomas and/or certificates.<br><br>In view of the nature of the working environment, a good knowledge of French is desirable.<br><br>*Please note that this form exists only in French.<br><br>Interpreting traineeships, which last from 10 to 12 weeks, are primarily aimed at newly qualified conference interpreters whose language combination is of interest to the Interpretation Directorate. <![CDATA[ Traineeships<br><br>With the aim of enabling European citizens to familiarise themselves with the European institutions, the General Secretariat of the Council offers various types of traineeships:<br><br>paid traineeships<br>compulsory training period as part of a student's studies<br>traineeships reserved for national officials.<br><br>These traineeship possibilities are aimed chiefly at new graduates from universities or equivalent higher-education establishments. They are for nationals of the EU Member States.<br><br>For nationals of a State that is a candidate for accession, currently in negotiations, traineeship possibilities are limited to national officials.<br><br>Trainees will be attached to a department and work as part of the team to which they are assigned. They may be required, for instance, to attend meetings of working parties (and possibly Coreper and Council meetings), draft minutes or carry out preparatory work or research on a particular subject.
