Pour Sabrina Philippe, il existe bien des relations
qui confirment l’hypothèse.
Spécialiste du couple et des problématiques
amoureuses, il me semblait connaître tous les
rouages des unions et désunions qui constituent
l'essentiel de nos joies et de nos peines. De par mon
vécu, il me semblait également avoir expérimenté une
bonne partie des divers sentiments d'amour, des plus
clairs aux plus sombres. Et puis, il y a quelques années
j'ai fait une rencontre incroyable, une rencontre qui
allait changer ma vie, ma façon de penser, de travailler
et d'être au monde.
J'ai croisé la route d'un homme qui a provoqué chez
moi un tourment mêlé d'une joie indescriptible. Dès
les premières secondes où je l'ai vu, j'ai senti qu'il se passait
quelque chose qui allait bien au-delà du sentiment
amoureux, sans pouvoir identifier ce dont il s'agissait. Non
seulement il me semblait l'avoir toujours connu, mais sa
seule présence élargissait mon âme d'une étrange façon.
La résonance vibratoire de notre union fut si forte que
je crus perdre la raison. Notre compréhension mutuelle
n'avait pas besoin de mots, de gestes ou de regards, et
dans chacune de nos entrevues flottait un air de perfection
absolue, car nous étions à la fois si semblables et si
complémentaires.
Je n'étais plus seule, j'avais trouvé sur cette planète
quelqu'un qui épousait mon esprit d'une façon extraordinaire
et que je devinais de façon plus extraordinaire
encore. Car des phénomènes inexpliqués jalonnèrent
notre brève relation, comme le fait de connaître son appartement
avant même d'y être allée, ou de savoir exactement
où il se trouvait sans autre lien que la pensée. Cela acheva
de me désorienter.
Je me souviens d’un moment particulièrement
magique où nous sommes restés assis face à face dans
un jardin, sans dire un mot pendant plus d’une heure.
Et pourtant nous dialoguions. Mon esprit déambulait
sur la musique, mes compositeurs préférés, et je recevais
ses remarques comme il percevait les miennes. Lorsque
nous nous sommes levés, nos paroles ont poursuivi cet
incroyable échange au point même où nous l’avions laissé.
« Comme je te l’ai dit, je ne crois pas que Bach… » Cette
phrase m’est restée, car au moment où je l’ai prononcée
nos yeux se sont croisés avec effroi. Ces manifestations
étaient souvent trop étranges pour ne nous procurer que
de la joie.
Il est difficile de décrire avec des mots ce que je vécus à ce
moment-là, et j'ai compris depuis que seuls ceux qui ont
eu la chance ou la malchance de vivre cette unicité parfaite
peuvent saisir vraiment ce dont il s'agit. Car bien sûr, nous
rencontrons dans notre vie des personnes avec lesquelles
nous avons de fortes affinités, amis, amours, relations professionnelles.
Mais ce que j'évoque ici se situe bien au-delà,
au-delà d’une quelconque attirance physique ou intellectuelle,
au-delà des mécanismes d’attachement habituels. Une nouvelle compréhension
Chance ou malchance en effet, car le départ définitif de cet
homme pour un autre hémisphère me plongea dans un
tourment infini. Si notre relation très particulière n’aurait
jamais pu s’inscrire dans un quotidien, comment néanmoins
allais-je désormais pouvoir vivre ce même quotidien
sans lui? Je sentis que ma seule échappatoire résiderait
dans une tentative de compréhension de ce que j’avais
ressenti. La psychologie et la psychanalyse montrèrent
vite leurs limites en la matière... Relation « cristallisée »,
deuil pathologique, projection fantasmatique idéalisée, je
connaissais ces gammes par coeur, mais elles étaient loin
de donner une explication plausible à ce que j'avais vécu.
Et puis surtout, si j'avais de la peine, je ne me sentais pas
malade pour autant. Bien au contraire, cette relation avait
incroyablement et définitivement accru mes capacités
musicales, rédactionnelles, intellectuelles, mais aussi plus
globalement de perception du monde, et des sentiments
qui nous animent tous, qui nous relient en permanence.
Ma façon de jouer du piano par exemple s’est complètement
modifiée. Encore aujourd’hui, je compose, je
duplique avec une facilité que je n’avais jamais connue
par le passé. La littérature m'offrit quelques réponses. Je
relus par exemple Belle du Seigneur d'Albert Cohen avec
une vision différente. Puis la philosophie, la connaissance
des religions m'ouvrirent d'autres champs. Mais c'est plus
largement dans des textes spirituels tels que ceux d'Edgar
Cayce que je trouvai enfin un début de sens. La description
qu’il pouvait faire des couples, des « flammes
jumelles » comme il les nommait, fut un soulagement.
Sur ces chemins de traverse que je n'aurais jamais cru
emprunter un jour, une évidence se dressa: l'âme soeur
existe, mais la vision romantique que nous prêtons à ce
concept est complètement erronée.
C’est une vision développée par nombre de sites de
rencontres, qui proposent ce slogan publicitaire aguicheur: « Trouvez votre âme sœur » … Termes galvaudés
pour définir quelqu'un qui pourrait vous correspondre
en tous points, termes que j'ai si souvent utilisés moi-même
sans savoir de quoi je parlais. L'idée est romantique,
il faut bien l'avouer, l'idée est belle. Une âme, une
personne avec laquelle l'entente serait parfaite. Et voilà
qu'en la trouvant nous serions amoureusement comblés,
heureux, apaisés enfin. C'est d'ailleurs plus qu'une
idée: ce concept appartient à notre inconscient collectif.
Socrate mentionnait cette unité parfaite dans Le Banquet
de Platon, et beaucoup de religions en font clairement
état. Bouddhisme, judaïsme, la traduction même des
Écritures l'évoque à mi-mot. La femme n'aurait pas
été créée avec une « côte » de l'homme, mais un côté,
une moitié. Cette croyance est pratiquement toujours
réactivée lorsque survient un état amoureux. La magie
qui opère entre deux êtres qui choisissent de s'aimer
s'accompagne souvent de pensées spirituelles, de l'idée
que l'on se serait enfin trouvé, que le destin s'en serait
mêlé, que l'on serait « fait l'un pour l'autre ». La sexualité
nous amène d'ailleurs à retrouver cette unité, à ne former
qu'un par la fusion des corps.
Et puis l'état amoureux s'estompe. L'autre n'est pas celui
que l'on croyait, il est différent, de nous, de nos projections
fantasmatiques, et il nous faudra composer avec
ces différences souvent riches, mais parfois incompréhensibles,
sources infinies de la souffrance de nombreux
couples. Après la fusion teintée d'idéal vient la réalité de
deux êtres bien distincts qui décident de s'unir dans un
quotidien qui n'appelle pas toujours l'évidence. Alors on
se résigne: « L'âme soeur n’existe pas. »
Une perception radicalement différente – et qui n’engage
que moi –, me permet aujourd'hui de vivre et de travailler
différemment, et je l'espère, mieux. Je pars d'un postulat
spirituel auquel tout le monde n'adhère pas: notre âme
vit indépendamment de notre corps, et se réincarne plusieurs
fois. Dans ces différentes incarnations, elle croisera
d'autres âmes qu'elle connaît déjà mais qui auront joué
des rôles différents. Notre vision amoureuse par exemple
est très terrestre et très limitée, l'amour doit avoir « ailleurs
» un aspect bien plus large, un fils dans cette vie-là
aura pu être un mari dans une autre. Peu importe, les
« familles d'âmes » se recomposent au gré de leurs incarnations.
Mais nous n'avons qu'une âme soeur, une seule,
j'en suis persuadée. Sans doute la cherchons-nous sans
cesse dans notre vie, consciemment ou inconsciemment,
et parfois nous la trouvons: c'est un ami, c'est une soeur,
c'est un fils, c'est un amant, c'est lui, c'est elle, au-delà
des corps. Une énergie libérée
Pendant quatre ans, j'ai participé à une émission quotidienne
de témoignages sur France 2, où j'intervenais
principalement sur les problématiques amoureuses. J'y ai
vu et entendu plus de 2 500 personnes. Peu à peu, j’ai su
discerner celles qui s'étaient trouvées… Les mots étaient
inutiles, et les grandes déclarations n'y changeaient rien.
Avant même qu'elles ne commencent à parler se dégageait
d'elles une sorte d'énergie peu commune.
Ce couple de septuagénaires veufs dont la rencontre
remontait à deux ans à peine, se ressemblant en tous
points, mus par une compréhension mutuelle hermétique
aux autres. Ces deux amies séparées maintes fois
mais se retrouvant toujours par le truchement du hasard,
et qui avaient fini par partager le même domicile, « car
lorsque nous sommes ensemble, nous n'avons besoin de personne
d'autre, vous savez? » Oui, maintenant je savais.
Et puis, je rencontrais aussi beaucoup d'âmes déboussolées,
tourmentées comme j'avais pu l'être, que personne
ne semblait comprendre. Elles avaient trouvé leur soeur,
mais elles ne partageraient pas cette vie-là et elles en
étaient malades, au sens propre comme au figuré: cancer,
dépression, errances diverses. Je me souviens de cette
femme, Marie, la quarantaine, maman de deux enfants,
luttant contre une longue maladie, parlant de l'homme
qu'elle avait aimé et qui l'avait quittée: « Je sais qu'il était
mon âme soeur, il le savait aussi mais il a eu peur. Notre
amour était trop fort, trop exclusif. Cette rencontre a dévasté
ma vie, je ne sais plus comment continuer, comment aimer. »
La psychothérapie qu'elle avait entreprise n'avait rien
changé à ses convictions. Il m'apparut que pour l'aider et
avancer moi-même, il me fallait aller au-delà du constat
de sa peine.
Je me posai alors plusieurs questions. Pourquoi
certaines
âmes sœurs parvenaient-elles à s'unir sur cette terre
et d'autres non? Y avait-il un sens à ces quêtes, ces fusions,
ces drames, et si oui lequel? Ce fut un reportage sur
Jean-Louis Barrault et Madeleine Renaud qui me mit
sur la voie. Ce couple d'acteurs mythiques avait libéré un
potentiel créatif exceptionnel de par leur union. Mais il y
en avait tant d'autres, des artistes comme Jean Tinguely
et Niki de Saint Phalle, des chercheurs comme Pierre et
Marie Curie... La friction de ces âmes avait changé le
monde. À bien y réfléchir, il m'apparut que les couples
que j'avais croisés modifiaient également leur environnement
à leur manière, par leur rayonnement. Ces deux
amies ne s'étaient-elles pas engagées dans une association
humanitaire? Ces amants septuagénaires n'avaient-ils pas
créé un cours de danse de salon pour seniors?
Et moi-même, cette incroyable rencontre n'avait-elle pas
modifié ma trajectoire, m'amenant à plus de spiritualité,
de créativité, à parler de l'amour différemment? Une
véritable métamorphose… Peut-être le but de la réunion
des âmes soeurs est-il celui-là: générer une énergie
particulièrement forte qui se transmet aux autres et qui
les modifie à leur tour. Notre bien-être terrestre semble
secondaire dans ce schéma-là. Et puis, il doit bien exister
un « ailleurs » où ces âmes s'unissent à nouveau, la
séparation n’étant que terrestre. J'entrepris de contacter
Marie, et quelques autres témoins télévisuels qui étaient
alors dans une grande souffrance pour leur faire part de
ces réflexions.
Je crois que nos échanges furent libérateurs pour nombre
d'entre eux. Loin des théories de la psychopathologie,
au-delà de la peine, ils avaient tous un potentiel à explorer
et à transmettre. Marie va bien aujourd'hui, elle est
amoureuse, et elle n'est plus comptable mais sophrologue.
Quant à moi, je continue à travailler, à aimer, à grandir,
mais différemment, et j'ai écrit cet article. J'espère qu'il
pourra aider ceux qui s'y reconnaîtront.

"Une soeur" or "A Sister" is a Belgian French-language live action short film that premiered back in 2018 and was nominated at the 2020 Academy Awards almost 1.5 years later. The director is Delphine Girard, apparently still a relatively young filmmaker, and her effort here makes me curious about what we can expect from her once she makes the transition to full feature films. I got to watch all the five nominated live action short films last night before the Oscar ceremony and this one here was the first they showed and also my favorite from the bunch. At approximately 17 minutes, it as also the shortest from the nominees I believe, but the outcome here is a perfect example of how quantity does not equal quality because the other four are inferior, some even drastically. Shame this one probably never really had a chance to take home the prize. But that does not make it worse or anything. When and after watching, I still thought it was merely good, but after thinking a bit about it, I'd say it is even great and one of the finest short movies from its year and also deserving of the Oscar win. This partially has to do with lead actress Veerle Baetens here, who plays an emergency phone hotline operator. I already thought she was amazing on "The Broken Cicle Breakdown" wow... can't believe this one is already almost a decade old. so I recognized her immediately. This film reminded me of a Danish film from not too long ago that was also fairly close to being nominated for an Oscar, but that was a full feature film, so there were plot twwists and everything. This one here is just very focused and essential story-telling that almost feels a bit like a documentary from a police investigation. Fittingly, I read an article not too long ago about a case where a woman called such a hotline to report a case of domestic violence I think and that she (or somebody close to her) is in danger, but she could not speak freely, so she disguised her call as if she was calling to order a pizza. The hotline operator understood and realized it is not a prank and managed to help her to become hero of the day.

This film is at least slightly similar to that but it as made way before the event I just mentioned (became public) so it did not inspire this film. I think the moment you realize what's going on, namely when you find out that the hotline operator just received the call you saw before that from the perspective of the woman in the car, you are immediately in the middle of this film. And you won't leave until it is over. It is that good and had me on the edge of my seat more than most full feature movies. Of course, you will need subtitles unless you are fluent in French, but this should not keep you from watching. It is really essential that you understand all the dialogues. I also liked how they elaborated on what happened before that, probably that the woman was abused sexually and then abducted. You would not know how it ends, if there is a big car chase scene, the guy loses it and maybe kills his victim and/or himself or whatever else could happen, but Girard took the most likely and most realistic way out without any spectacular final sequence. Or I should say any spectacular showy sequence because the moment the police stops them, he gets out of the car and surrenders. Felt very authentic and realistic. So did everything else about the end, for example how she asks the woman on the phone if she is supposed to step out of the vehicle now as well. She trusted her to make the right decision for her the way she did before that by basically saving her. And at the very end, when Baetens' character asked for her name, we find out how anonymous this job really is and how you have to deliver acts that are much bigger than a simple "hello my name is. and still it stays a really lonely profession. The attention to detail in this film is nice too. Just one example how she steps away from the noise at her workplace when she is about to talk to the guy. She definitely is a pro knowing what needed to be done to do her best to save a life. There is no guarantee of course. Early on, there is also a brief moment of comedy when we find out about a guy who has been constantly calling for nothing that warrants calling. And finally, I would like to say that I think the title is a good choice as well. Very simple, but hits the nail right on the head. She is her sister that night, not only because of how she has to pretend she is, but also because the two women have a special connection. In the truest sense of the word. I highly recommend this film. Very well done.

I 've been a long time thinking about Chistmas and today i still living, and i have no request so i wrotte a song with my knowledge called Christmas no borders I hope the public will like my way of thinking. This world is too much injust.
I saw the twist from the start. It was obvious but I liked the characters a lot! Good movie.
I'll start this review off by mentioning something specific and unique about this film that proves that I have seen this film while I suspect one reviewer didn't. The film handles the traditional nativity story while modifying the King Herod's attempt to find the Christ child and the Holy Family and murder them. (And, frankly, IMO, that part of the story that leads to the slaughter of the children of Bethlehem is not a suitable subject for family animated movie for children and is wisely left out of this film.) How they changed the King Herod part was to tell the story from the animal's point of view. The donkey Bo, Dave the bird, and Ruth the lamb all notice a new star in the sky and conclude that something great is doing to happen. Now Bo, who is a donkey of a miller, escapes his cruel master, and is adopted by Mary and Joesph. Only after Mary and Joesph leave on their journey to Bethlehem, does Bo learn that Herod has sent a soldier henchman with a long nasty looking sword and two mean chained together dogs to search for Mary and the baby and kill them. Bo enlists the aid of his friend Dave the dove and a lamb named Ruth, to chase after Mary and Joesph in order to warn them of the Soldier hunting them and to protect the holy family. Bo doesn't know why Mary is being hunted. The camels of the Magi, who Bo, Dave, and Ruth don't meet until the end of the film, witness Herod's original plotting. As I said, the film wisely leaves out the massacre of the children of Bethlehem and stops before that point in the biblical narrative means this film does not have a very violent, bloody, and adult scary scene in it for children to watch.

While telling the nativity story from the animals' point of view is not a new idea, using them to modify, and soften Herod's part is.

The animation is stunning in this film.

The story is easy to fallow and treats the traditional nativity story respectfully while infusing the obviously fictional part of the animals talking. It also has jokes in it to keep the tone of the picture light and easy.

The soundtrack's use of the carols and new music is lively, and enjoyable without getting too heavy handed with the religious theme. But the soundtrack doesn't get too light ether. It hits the right balence of seriousness and entertaining.

I would highly recommend taking children to see this film.

This trailer is every single good bit from the movie - therefore the other 1.5 hours you'll have in the theater are an absolute bore then there are the last 10 mins that will make you want to flip the movie theater seat that has been bolted to the floor because you wasted your time and money.

As a person of the Catholic religion (not a very dedicated one though) I still astonished me that Sony would release a film on the Nativity of Jesus. I'm just baffled that the voice actor of Voltron Legendary Defender's Keith (also my favorite Paladin from back in the day) and Flynn Rider er I mean Eugene were dragged into this! What bothers me is that film has a higher rating (both in RT percentage and average rating) than My Little Pony The Movie, a movie that had more heart put into it than this film! Let's just see how Ferdinand turns out. Pretty sure Coco will get the Seal of Approval for sure. Great review as always.

Plot [ edit]
In "9 months B. C. ", Mary is visited by an angel telling her she will bear the Messiah. A pygmy jerboa named Abby overhears and tells the other animals as a star begins glowing brightly in the night.
Six months later, a young donkey is tired of milling wheat and wishes to join a traveling caravan so that he may feel important. An older donkey helps him escape the miller who owns them and he ends up with an injured ankle at the house of Joseph and Mary who just celebrated their wedding. Mary takes the donkey in and names him Boaz, or Bo, and reveals to Joseph that she is pregnant, with Joseph accepting Mary's situation after praying to God. During this time, Bo and his dove friend Dave, plot to escape despite Mary's kindness, but end up staying three more months.
Meanwhile, the three wise men and their camels, Felix, Cyrus and Deborah, arrive at the home of King Herod. The wise men reveal their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, but when they reveal that it is for the "new King", he sends them on their way to meet him, but secretly sends his hunter and his two dogs, Thaddeus and Rufus, to find and kill the new King.
As Joseph and Mary leave Nazareth in order to head to Bethlehem, Bo and Dave try another escape, but are confronted by Thaddeus (a wolf) and Rufus (a bull terrier), who knew of the home by interrogating Abby. After learning that Joseph and Mary are not home, the hunter and his dogs leave to look for them. Feeling guilty, Bo decides to warn them with Dave joining him. Along the way they meet a friendly sheep named Ruth who left her flock when she saw the star. They catch up to Joseph and Mary in time to warn them, and hide them in a market place where the hunter ties up his dogs. Bo releases the cart Joseph and Mary were using to roll down and cause a chain reaction that knocks the hunter down a well. However, he creates severe damage to the market in the process, and Joseph, unaware of the danger, berates Bo for his actions.
Upset with being rejected, Bo leaves and Dave follows until they arrive at the caravan. While happy to have found it, Bo realizes that he liked being with Mary and tells Dave, who admits that he isn't upset and that he just wants Bo to be happy with his decision. Together, the two return and make up with Ruth, and then convince a frustrated Joseph to talk to Mary. Mary admits that it has been difficult for her and that she is scared of the importance of the baby, and Joseph and she make up when the latter begins having contractions. They arrive at Bethlehem where Joseph can't find an inn for Mary. The miller, who just so happened to be there, kidnaps Bo with Dave and Ruth leaving to rescue him. The wise men arrive as well, but the camels, who are aware of Herod's plot, are left tied to a post.
Bo ends up in a stable where he meets a horse named Leah, a cow named Edith, and a goat named Zach. They reveal that they haven't been able to sleep because the star's bright light has been shining through on their manger. Realizing that this is where the baby is supposed to be, the animals help Bo escape and he catches up with Dave and Ruth while spotting the hunter and his dogs. Bo finds Joseph and Mary and gets them back to the stable while Dave runs into Cyrus, Felix and Deborah and helps them escape. Ruth finds her flock (who had previously refused to follow her), and tries to convince them to help, but gets unexpected help from the angel who informs the shepherds and the sheep that the Savior is coming. Bo manages to fight off Thaddeus and Rufus, but is outdone by the hunter. Suddenly, Ruth and her flock, the camels and Dave arrive and dispatch with them by having them hang from a cliff. The hunter lets his dogs fall, but they are saved by Bo while it's implied the hunter himself falls to his death.
All of the animals (who are now joined by Abby who assumed the danger to be ongoing and the redeemed Thaddeus & Rufus), shepherds, and three wise men arrive to see baby Jesus. Bo realizes that he has been carrying the new King the whole time. Deborah predicts that this event will be remembered around the world for years to come.
During the credits, it is shown in pictures that Joseph buys Bo from the miller, and both Bo and Dave help him and Mary raise Jesus.

Main Animal Characters
Bo ( Steven Yeun) - A young mill donkey who is loyal yet worrysome. He sees the star one night thinking it's a sign that his life is soon to change. When he hears of the Royal Caravan marching into Nazareth, he feels this is his purpose and escapes to try to join it. But when he encounters Mary, he feels more dedicated to be with her and keep her out of danger.
Dave ( Keegan-Michael Key) - A sarcastic and egotiscial dove who is Bo's best friend. He joins Bo on his quest to join the Royal Caravan but is more set on that than he is at helping others.
Ruth ( Aidy Bryant) - A light-hearted, bubbly and naive sheep who left her flock to follow the star. She later joins Bo and Dave on their journey to Bethlehem with Mary and Joseph. At first, she's a nuisance to them, but Bo later grows a soft spot for her and soon becomes friends with her.
Thaddeus ( Ving Rhames) - A sinister dog who is determined to find the Son of God for his master.
Rufus ( Gabriel Iglesias) - A bull dog who is Thaddeus' dimwitted sidekick.
Cyrus ( Tyler Perry) - The leader of the three camels. He is smart, calm and collective but usually isn't always right.
Felix ( Tracy Morgan) - The youngest of the three camels. He's the loudmouth comic relief of the trio, and he often gets into arguments with Cyrus.
Deborah ( Oprah Winfrey) - The only female of the three camels. She's the most down-to-earth of the trio, but the other two often think she's crazy despite her attempts at being the voice of reason and keeping her cohorts in check.
Edith ( Patricia Heaton) - A cow who lives at the stable where Mary and Joseph eventually end up at. She's the most level-headed of the animals who reside at the stable and is mostly unamused and pessimistic.
Leah ( Kelly Clarkson) - A horse who lives at the stable where Mary and Joseph eventually end up at. She loves to sing, but more often than not, her singing is obnoxiously loud, which is most likely caused by her lack of sleep.
Zach ( Anthony Anderson) - A goat who lives at the stable where Mary and Joseph eventually end up at. He has deformed eyes and is very hyper and paranoid due to the lack of sleep he got since the star began to shine over the stable.
Abby ( Kristin Chenoweth) - A small rodent who first witnesses the Angel coming to Mary. She tells her friends about it and tries to warn the others about the hunter.

The film's script was originally developed during the late 1990s by the Jim Henson Company, partially inspired by the success of the 1995 film Babe. [8] [9]
In September 2014, it was reported that DeVon Franklin would produce a faith-based film inspired by the Nativity story under his production company, Franklin Entertainment, in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation. [10] In April 2015, Variety reported that Timothy Reckart would direct the film in his directing debut. [6] On August 5, 2015, it was announced that the film, then titled The Lamb, was given an official release date of December 8, 2017. [11] On June 20, 2016, it was announced that Brian Henson and Lisa Henson from The Jim Henson Company would be executive producers for the film, now titled The Star, [12] making it the first Henson-produced film for Sony since The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland in 1999.
In an interview with Animation Magazine, Reckart expressed that he felt encouraged to direct the film, as he felt that there was a lack of Christmas films centering on the Nativity of Jesus: "It felt like an opportunity to be part of a movie that has not been done before, that's really going to fill a void. " [8]

The Star (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) was released on October 27, 2017, including contributions from Jessie James Decker, Jake Owen, Kelsea Ballerini, Zara Larsson, Casting Crowns, Kirk Franklin, Fifth Harmony, Yolanda Adams, Saving Forever and Mariah Carey. Pentatonix also contributes a bonus track to the digital release of the album. In July 2016, the release date was set for November 10, 2017, [18] but it was later pushed back to November 17, 2017. [19] The Star had its world premiere in Los Angeles at the Regency Village Theater on November 12, 2017. [20]
Marketing [ edit]
The first trailer was released on July 26, 2017. [21] On November 16, 2017, the official video for the song The Star, performed by Mariah Carey, was made available on her YouTube channel. [22]

The Star was released on digital on February 6, 2018, and on DVD and Blu-ray on February 20, 2018 by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. [23]

The Star has grossed $40. 9 million in the United States and Canada, and $22 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $62. 8 million, against a production budget of $20 million. [5]
In the United States and Canada, The Star was released alongside Justice League and Wonder, and was projected to gross around $10 million from 2, 800 theaters in its opening weekend. The film made $2. 8 million on its first day. [24] It ended up grossing $9. 8 million in its opening weekend, finishing 6th at the box office. [25]
Critical response [ edit]
On review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an average rating by critics of 42% based on 52 reviews, with an average rating of 4. 94/10. However, the audience score average rating was 71% based on 2947 reviews, with an average rating of 3. 87/5 (=7. 74/10). The site's critical consensus reads, " The Star may not leave audiences singing 'Hallelujah', but its offbeat yet sincere approach to the nativity story makes for acceptably diverting holiday viewing. " [26] On Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating to reviews, the film has a weighted average score of 42 out of 100, based on 12 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews". [27] Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of "A" on an A+ to F scale. [25]
The A. V. Club ' s Ignatiy Vishnevetsky criticized The Star as a "rote cartoon feature" existing for purely commercial reasons: ".. the kid-friendliest, Sunday-school-iest kind of religious art can't spring from religion alone; it needs artistry, too. Otherwise, you end up with a generic product aimed at a market segment who'll buy anything as long as it seems sufficiently churchy. " [28]

Praying donkey? This just wow. Like an angel who talk with bunch of sheep's (they show shepherds, but. he talk to the sheep's anyway. Or two atheistic camels. I mean, with all this - its anyway not bad film for normal kids. But send this Christian message? No. Its more like insult for christians (with jokes about kiss my feathers) than do something for propaganda their ideas. When Bo say "donkey kick" its obviously was "donkey punch" because all we know how Sony animated films filled with memes. Good one but not in a kid movie AGAIN. And its really "sweet" when in 6+ talk so many about killing babes and others. I think in this rating don't really necessary use words like "dead. death" and "kill. And its really strange when you start film for kids from such disturbing scene like impregnation of Maria. But, anyway like kids movie for Christmas its good, have funny moments, looks like promising successor for "Open Season" with better graphics. Cant wait 6 or 7 DTV releases - keep donkey and friend, but put Bible away. Maybe they can go through other fairy tales.

Täna, 10. jaanuaril jõuab Eesti kinodesse Kenneth Branaghi teatrikompanii lavastus “Meelelahutaja”, mille peaosatäitjana astub üles Branagh isiklikult.


John Osbourne’i näidendit “Meelelahutaja” etendati esimest korda 1957. aastal Inglismaal. 60 aastat hiljem on Kenneth Branaghi teatrikompanii toonud selle klassikalise näidendi taaskord publiku ette. “Meelelahutaja” linastub Tallinnas, Coca-Cola Plazas ja Tartus, kinos Ekraan teisipäeval, 10. jaanuaril kell 18:30. “Meelelahutaja” tegevus toimub sõjajärgses Suurbritannias ning loob ilmeka pildi tolleaegsete vanade varieteeteatrite armetust glamuurist, rebides eest tegelaste maskid ja päästes valla nende isiklikud deemonid. Näidendi on lavastanud on Rob Ashford, peaosatäitjana astub üles ei keegi muu kui Branagh ise. "Talvemuinasjuttu" peetakse Shakespeare'i üheks hilisemaks näidendiks ning seda kategoriseeritakse üldiselt komöödiate hulka, kuid ebatavaline ei ole selle paigutumine ka tema probleemikesksete näidenditega ( problem plays) ühte mesti. Viimasesse kuuluvad muuseas ka All's Well That Ends Well  (mis kuulub ka mu antud autori lemmikute hulka) ja Measure for Measure. Tegu on otsekui ka kahe erinevat žanri looga ühes, millest esimene on tragöödia sugemetega ning teine pool on puhas romantiline komöödia koos teelusikatäie ängi ja emotsionaalse pingega. Põhimõtteliselt saab vaataja pea kõike mida pakuvad tema teised trööstitud ja traagilised lood, kuid kirsina tordil ei ole hunnik laipu vaid õnnelik ja isegi maagiline lõpp. Eripärane on ka kahe osa keskele asetsev sisuline 16 aastane vahe. Antud tükk on kuulus ka sellepoolest, et sisaldab ühte autori tuntuimat lavamärkust: Exit, pursued by bear ehk "lahkumine lavalt, karu poolt tagaaetuna. " Loo kontekstis äärmiselt kurb sündmus, kuid selle lause teadvustamine ajab mind ikkagi iga kord naerma.
Lugu räägib Sitsiilia kuningas Leontesest (Kenneth Branagh), kellel on pealtnäha kõik mida üks õnnelik ja rahulolev mees võiks tahta: kaunis meest jumaldav naine, vahva pojast troonipärija, veel üks laps tulekul, ustavad ja austavad alamad ning truu sõber külasoleva Böömimaa kuninga Polixenese näol, kellega oldud lähedased juba noorest east saati. Leontesest saab igavesti kahetsev ja andestust otsiv vari enda varasemast minast. Ma ei oskagi rahuldavalt tema käitumist seletada, kuid antud etendus andis vihjeid veel ühest võimalusest, mille peale mina ei oleks tulnud ning millele ei ole tekstiliselt ka konkreetseid vihjeid. Nimelt oli Leontes armukade mitte sellepärast, et naine väidetavalt oma kiindumuse mujale suunas vaid, et seda tegi hoopis mehe lähedane lapsepõlve sõber tema naisele. Kes teab. Igatahes, segane see oli, on ja jääb.
Etenduse esimene osa kulmineerub Hermione kohtumõistmisega ja sellele järgneva naise ja Leontese elurõõmsa ja armsa poja surmaga. Peatselt, pärast eelnevat, teeb etteaste ka kurikuulus karu ning tema hammaste vahel leiab lõpu Paulina abikaasa, kelle surm jätab väikse imiku Perdita teda leidnud lambakarjuste hooleks. Ta nautis täiel rinnal lihtrahva hulka sulandumist ja nende tantsupeost osavõtmist ning see võimaldas tegelaskujule enam iseloomuvarjundeid. Teda kehastanud näitleja on kasvult väga pikk, laiaõlgne ning mehine, seega hoidis ta mu pilku vaevatult ning see lapselikult õhinas käitumine ja siiras lust tema naeratuses ja silmis oli väga veetlev. Siinkohal peab mainima positiivselt ka lõbusat talurahva pidu ja seal ettevõetud, Shakespeare'i kohta üllatavalt hoogsaid, lustlikke ja isegi seksikaid tantsunumbreid.
Pilguheit maalilisse ja energiast pakatavasse helgesse maaellu oli silmatorkavalt kontrastis trööstitu esimese vaatusega. Kahte osa ei eristanud vaid žanr, vaid ka kõik muu, alates õhkkonnast lõpetades värvidega. Üks oli otsekui talv: külm, kurblik, tõsine ja pime. Teine pool aga nagu kevad: päikeseline, murevaba ning naeruküllane. Pärast pikka talve saabuv lunastust, leppimist ja imesid täis kevad. Perdita on siinkohal nagu muinasjutuprintsess, kes tõotab kauni tuleviku algust, jagades ühes stseenis lilli, mis sümboliseerivad kevadet. Üks suurima kaaluga "tärkamisi" oli aga kuju elluärkamine, mis oli otsekui jõuluime (arvestades ülekande aega) või siis kevadega kaasnev talveunest taastumine.
Veel põhjalikumalt mainimist väärt näitlejatest tooksin uuesti esile Judy Denchi, kelle roll ei olnud just hiigel, kuid kes suutis röövida kõik stseenis, kus lavale astus ning tema kohalolek ütles selgelt, et tegu on tõeliselt magneetilise aura, võimuka kohaloleku ning gigantse kogemusepagasiga tegijaga nii laval kui filmis. See oli tõepoolest erakordne kogemus teda teatrikontekstis kogeda, isegi kui pilt oli kinolinal. Teistest meeldejäävatest isikutest kiidan nihverdajast lõbusat laulumeest Autolycusi, kelle hobiks oli ka taskuvargused. Tema meisterlikud palad tõid publikus iga kord aplausi esile ning suli oli lühiajaline, kuid värvikas tegelane. Ka Perdita ullike vend oli omamoodi sümpaatne oma lihtsameelsuses. Peale selle oli näitlejal selline lahe aktsent ning hääletoon, mis tegi tast armsa tola.
Lavakujundus oli lihtne ning pigem taustafunktsioone täitev kui toimuvat üle trumbata katsetav. Esimeses osas oli, tegevuspaikadele vastavalt, ümbruseks uhke lossi ruumid ning teises viitas maaelu keskkonnale ere valgustus ning peo ajal laval olev suur puidust ühislaud. Mulle väga meeldis kuidas esimeste stseenide ajal oli laval ka ehitud kuusk ning tegevus oli viidud tänu lavakujundusele jõuluperioodi. Kurikuulus karu aga füüsilises vormis lavale seekord ei astunud, vaid temaga sai kohtuda põgusa projektsiooni abil. Kiidusõnad ka imiku nukule, kes tegi häält ja keda konkreetselt nägemata, sai peaaegu usutud, et tegu on eheda lapsega. Üks kaunimaid lahendusi aga langes osaks Hermione kujule, kes oli nagu imeilus nukk, kes sädeles otsekui jääst taustal. Ka kostüümid oli suurepärased, eriti aadlike riietus: šikid, elegantsed, tõepärased ja asjakohased.
Ülekande enda kohta midagi niiväga erilist esile tuua ei olegi, sest üritus oli viperustega. Näidendile eelnes Kenneth Branaghi poolt sissejuhatus antud tüki üldistesse ja põnevatesse detailidesse, samuti sai lühidalt jutustatud ka teatrihoone ajaloost ning käesoleva trupi kokkutulemiseloost. Kõik see toimus teatriruumide kiire visuaalse ekskursiooni taustal. Veidi kentsakas oli vaid tõsiasi, et pärast sissejuhatava kõne lõppu läks hulk aega enne kui tükk algas. Kuigi seda auku kaeti kauni muusika ja vaatega laest alla saali, muutusin ma veidi kannatamatuks.
Kokkuvõttes, ilma igasuguse kahtluseta, on siinkohal tegu minu terve aasta parima ja maagilisema teatrikogemusega! Ma pole ammu enam millestki niiväga õhinas olnud, nii enne kui pärast näidendi nägemist. Hiilgav tükk!
