Williams, for example, was ineligible for CWU's first four games because he participated last spring in some organized basketball activities that weren't sanctioned by the NCAA.

The Seattle defense, with help from 68,338 fans and the weather, stymied 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, holding him to 127 passing yards and forcing three interceptions one each for Legion of Boomers Earl Thomas, Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor.

The Seahawks offense was just opportunistic enough to take advantage of five San Francisco turnovers. On a day when quarterback Russell Wilson didn't play his best, running back Marshawn Lynch led the way, finishing with 135 total yards and three touchdowns.

"It was not clean," Carroll said afterward. "We had a lot of problems offensively, moving forward, and staying out of our Cheap Jerseys own way. The defense was so on it tonight that it didn't matter."

But in what became a recurring theme early, Seattle couldn't take advantage of the mistake. The teams traded drives before a storm moving through the area brought rain, lighting and a one hour weather delay near the end of the first quarter.

While most players sat at their lockers during the break, Wilson took the opportunity to wash the stink off an 0 for 6 start, according to Sherman.

"During the break, he came out of the shower or something, and he looked like a bad man," Sherman said of Wilson, who went eight for 13 from that point forward.
