Endangered Species Conservation Officer (Operations) Chan Hon-ki of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD): "This saltwater crocodile species has wild populations in Southeast Asia and Australia, and the origin of this individual is a key focus of our investigation. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) veterinarian conducted a preliminary examination on the day of capture, and the crocodile was unharmed. It is currently being housed at the AFCD's animal management center and is in stable condition. Hong Kong is a densely populated city, and to ensure public safety, the AFCD strongly urges the public not to keep dangerous or aggressive animals as pets."
