<title>Athens stock exchange reopens, falls 23%</title>

<![CDATA[ he Athens stock exchange fell 23% Monday, after resuming trading following a five-week closure.<br><br>The country’s four main banks, including the National Bank of Greece, were down by around 30%.<br><br>Trading was suspended in late June as the country faced financial ruin. Greece struck a bailout deal with its international creditors last month.<br><br>Meanwhile, U.S. stock futures were lower Monday.<br><br>Here is where major market index futures stood ahead of the start of regular trading:<br><br>Dow: -0.1%<br><br>S&amp;P 500: -0.2%<br><br>Nasdaq:  -0.3%<br><br>Asian stocks fell Monday on weaker Chinese manufacturing and lower oil prices as investors looked ahead to U.S. data on factory output and employment<br><br>Japan’s Nikkei 225 index lost 0.2% while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index dropped 1.2%. The Shanghai Composite lost 1.1%.<br><br>German’s DAX index was 0.3% lower, France’s CAC 40 was down 0.2% and Britain’s FTSE 100 lost 0.2%.<br><br>Investors were looking ahead to surveys of manufacturing and consumer spending due out Monday, factory orders Tuesday and data on employment and payrolls on Friday.<br><br>U.S. stocks fell slightly Friday, but Wall Street closed out a volatile July with monthly gains.<br><br>Contributing: Associated Press
