What makes the racing genre so popular is that they are easy to understand. The person who gets to finish the most number of laps in the least amount of time wins.<br>One of the most notable series of racing video games is the Need for Speed franchise.<br>A brief history<br>Racing games was one of the first gaming genres during the early days of gaming. See, gaming was new back then and nobody really knew the potential it had for development. A lot of games simply drew inspiration from real life <a href="http://www.funnygames9.com">Funny Games</a>, such as sports games, shooting games, fighting games and so much more.<br>The game that put racing into the spotlight<br>There are plenty of games out there that are worthy of mentioning as being significant contributors to the development of racing video games. However, none are perhaps as significant as Gran Turismo.<br>Gran Turismo was a car racing game developed by Polyphony Digital that bore the subtitle “The Real Driving Simulator”. True enough, the game delivered a driving experience like no other. <br>The arcade style of entertainment that previous racing games gave players immediately fell out of fashion in favor of the new realistic driving titles like Gran Turismo.<br>The resurgence of arcade racers<br>Realistic driving games never fell out of fashion. However, arcade like racing games such as Need for Speed Pro Street Underground, Most Wanted and Need for Speed Carbon enjoyed a certain following from people who just wanted to drive and have fun.<br>This trend sort of hit a small bump when the Need for Speed series wanted to take itself seriously, at least in terms of gameplay. What came out was Need for Speed Pro Street. Fans of the series complained that the series took a radical direction that alienated the series’ own fan base.<br>Where racers are now<br>Need for Speed once again tried to go back to its roots by rereleasing Need for Speed Most Wanted. The fandom rejoiced at the prospect of having their old favorite title redone and updated for a newer generation. The newest Need for Speed game was well received by most critics.<br><br>What now?<br>Now that Need for Speed has set itself back on track the real question left in the minds of many is where are the <a href="http://www.racinggames9.com/">Racing Games</a> of this series heading off to?<br>
