母が泣きながら帰ってきました。
ショックだよ本当に
まさか祖父が末期肝臓癌だなんて

そのときの私は、母が何を言っているのか理解できなかったです。


やっと落ち着いた時に、頭に思いついたこと。「癌は不治の病ではない」

ですが、祖父の体はとても手術できるような体ではないのです。お腹は腫れて、静脈がいつ破裂しても可笑しくない状況だからなのです。




祖父は、祖父自身の病について何も知りません。すぐに治ると思っているようです。





私は、決心しました。祖父に明るく振る舞おうと。何時もどおりの対応でいこうと。
私自身にできることは、祈ることしかできないのです。

祖父の前で悲しい顔をすると祖父自身一気に不安が押し寄せてくるだろう


祖父を支える私達が笑顔じゃなくてどうするんだと、ふと思いました。
僅かな可能性を信じて笑顔で行動するしかないんだなって。
