How to Find the Best SEO Agency for Roofers

How to Find the Best SEO Agency for Roofing Professionals

For roofing contractors, SEO can become one of the most valuable sources of new business.

Homeowners do not usually search for a roofer every day. They search when something goes wrong, when they are planning a renovation, or when they need a new roof.

That makes search intent extremely important.

A roofing company needs to appear when potential customers are looking for roof replacement, roof repair, emergency roofing, shingles, metal roofing, commercial roofing, and other related services.

But ranking for these searches can be difficult.

Roofing is highly competitive in many North American markets. Local contractors compete against established roofing companies, manufacturers, directories, review websites, and national home improvement brands.

Choosing an SEO agency that understands the roofing industry can therefore make a significant difference.

Here is what roofing professionals should look for when choosing an SEO agency.

Start With Roofing SEO Experience

The first thing to ask is whether the agency has worked with roofing companies.

SEO knowledge is useful, but industry knowledge matters too.

A roofing SEO agency should understand the difference between services such as:

Roof replacement

Roof repair

Emergency roof repair

Asphalt shingle roofing

Metal roofing

Flat roofing

Commercial roofing

Roof inspections

Roof maintenance

New roof installation

Skylight installation

Roof ventilation

Roof leak repair

These services attract different types of customers.

Someone searching for "roofing contractors near me" may be looking for a general contractor.

Someone searching for "emergency roof repair" may have an immediate problem.

Someone searching for "standing seam metal roof cost" may still be researching a future project.

Your SEO strategy should account for these differences.

Ask How the Agency Finds Roofing Keywords

A good roofing SEO campaign should not rely on a generic keyword list.

The agency should research the actual search behavior of people in your service area.

Keywords can generally be divided into several groups.

Roofing Service Keywords

These describe the services you provide.

Examples include:

roof replacement

roof repair

roof installation

roof inspection

emergency roofing

commercial roofing

Roofing Material Keywords

Customers may also search for specific materials.

Examples include:

asphalt shingles

metal roofing

cedar roofing

flat roofing

rubber roofing

architectural shingles

Problem-Based Searches

These can be especially valuable for roofing contractors.

Examples include:

roof leaking

water coming through ceiling

missing shingles

damaged roof after storm

roof leak repair

ice dam damage

Location Searches

Local searches can include:

roofing contractor Toronto

roof replacement Mississauga

roofing company Hamilton

roof repair Markham

The agency should build a keyword strategy around your actual services and service areas.

Make Sure They Understand Local SEO

Most roofing businesses are local businesses.

A homeowner in Toronto is unlikely to hire a roofer from another province.

That makes local SEO a major part of the strategy.

Ask the agency how it plans to improve your visibility in your target cities and neighborhoods.

The strategy may include:

Google Business Profile optimization

Local landing pages

Local citations

Review strategy

On-page location signals

Local backlinks

Structured data

Location-specific content

Your agency should also explain how it will avoid creating low-quality location pages that offer little value to customers.

Don't Focus Only on Rankings

Ranking on Google is not the final objective.

Getting customers is.

A roofing company could rank for hundreds of informational keywords and still generate very few profitable leads.

Ask the agency how it measures business results.

Useful metrics can include:

Organic traffic

Phone calls

Quote requests

Contact forms

Consultation requests

Roofing inspection requests

Qualified leads

Conversion rate

Revenue from organic leads

If your agency only reports keyword positions, ask how those rankings connect to actual inquiries.

Roofing Leads Have Different Values

Not every roofing lead has the same value.

A homeowner looking for a small repair may have a very different value to your business than someone looking for a complete roof replacement.

The agency should understand this difference.

For example, your SEO strategy could separate:

Roof repair leads

from

Roof replacement leads

from

Commercial roofing leads

This allows you to understand which parts of your SEO campaign are producing the types of jobs you actually want.

Ask About Service Pages

Your roofing website should have dedicated pages for important services.

For example:

Roof Replacement

Explain the replacement process, materials, signs that replacement may be necessary, timelines, and what customers should expect.

Roof Repair

Explain common roofing problems, repair situations, and when homeowners should contact a professional.

Metal Roofing

Explain different metal roofing systems, applications, maintenance, and potential benefits.

Commercial Roofing

Explain the commercial services you provide and the types of properties you serve.

Each important service should have a clear purpose.

Avoid stuffing every roofing keyword onto one page.

Check the Agency's Content Strategy

Roofing customers have many questions before they hire a contractor.

That creates opportunities for useful content.

A good roofing SEO agency may develop articles covering questions such as:

How much does a new roof cost?

How long does a roof last?

How often should a roof be inspected?

How do I know if my roof needs replacement?

Can a roof be repaired instead of replaced?

How long does roof replacement take?

What are the signs of roof damage?

What type of roofing is best for my home?

How do I choose a roofing contractor?

How much do metal roofs cost?

The goal should not be publishing content simply to increase the number of pages on your website.

The content should answer real customer questions.

Make Sure the Content Shows Roofing Expertise

Roofing is a specialized trade.

Generic AI-generated articles can be easy to produce, but they may not demonstrate real roofing knowledge.

A strong roofing website should include practical information based on actual industry experience.

This could include:

Project photos

Before-and-after examples

Installation information

Material comparisons

Common problems

Local weather considerations

Roofing processes

Frequently asked customer questions

Company experience

Certifications

Manufacturer relationships

Real project experience can make your content more useful to both customers and search engines.

Ask About Technical SEO

Your website needs a strong technical foundation.

Ask the agency whether its SEO service includes:

Website speed

Mobile optimization

Indexation

XML sitemap

Internal linking

Redirects

Canonical tags

Broken links

Image optimization

Structured data

Page architecture

Core Web Vitals

A roofing company may have dozens of service and location pages.

The website needs to make it easy for both users and search engines to understand how those pages relate to each other.

Look at Their Link-Building Strategy

Backlinks can help build website authority, but quality matters.

Ask the agency where its links will come from.

Relevant sources can include:

Local publications

Construction organizations

Home improvement websites

Roofing associations

Local business organizations

Industry publications

Community organizations

Be cautious about agencies promising hundreds or thousands of backlinks at very low prices.

Ask for an explanation of how links are acquired and why the sources are relevant to your business.

Ask How They Handle Roofing Reviews

Reviews can influence how potential customers perceive a roofing company.

Your SEO agency should understand how reviews fit into local search and the broader customer journey.

Ask whether they can help you develop a legitimate review-generation process.

The focus should be on collecting genuine feedback from real customers.

The agency should never encourage fake reviews or misleading testimonials.

Look at the Website's Conversion Strategy

SEO gets people to your website.

Your website needs to give them a reason to contact you.

A roofing website can use several conversion opportunities, including:

Request a free estimate

Schedule a roof inspection

Call the company

Request emergency service

Submit a project inquiry

Request a consultation

The contact process should be simple.

If someone searches for "roof replacement near me," visits your website, and cannot quickly figure out how to request an estimate, you may lose the lead.

Ask About Emergency Roofing SEO

Emergency roofing can have very different search intent from regular roofing.

Someone searching for emergency roof repair may have an urgent problem.

Your website should clearly explain:

What qualifies as an emergency

What areas you serve

How customers can contact you

What happens after they call

What types of emergencies you handle

If you offer emergency roofing, ask your SEO agency whether it has a strategy specifically for high-intent emergency searches.

Understand the Importance of Service Areas

Roofing companies often serve multiple cities.

But that does not mean you should create hundreds of nearly identical pages.

A good agency should identify the locations that actually matter to your business.

For each important market, a useful location page could include:

Services available in the area

Local project examples

Relevant roofing problems

Service information

Local customer information

Areas nearby that you serve

The page should provide something useful to someone who actually lives there.

Ask About Competitor Research

Your SEO agency should study the roofing companies already ranking in your market.

This can reveal:

Which services they emphasize

Which keywords they target

How their websites are structured

What content they publish

Which locations they target

How many reviews they have

What types of backlinks they have

How their websites convert visitors

Competitor research should not mean copying another roofer's website.

It should help identify opportunities that your company can approach differently.

Check Whether They Understand Roofing Seasonality

Roofing demand can change throughout the year.

Weather, storms, seasonal maintenance, construction activity, and local conditions can influence search behavior.

An SEO agency should understand that search demand may not be consistent throughout the year.

That can affect:

Content planning

Seasonal pages

Campaign timing

Local targeting

Lead expectations

Historical search data and your own business data can help identify these patterns.

Ask About AI Search Optimization

Customers are increasingly using AI tools to research local businesses, products, and services.

That means roofing companies should think about how their information is represented across traditional search and AI-powered search experiences.

Ask your search engine optimization agency for roofing companies professohow it approaches:

Structured data

Business information

Service information

Author and company expertise

Frequently asked questions

First-hand project experience

Clear factual content

Local business information

AI search optimization should complement traditional SEO rather than replace the fundamentals.

Ask for Roofing SEO Case Studies

Before hiring an agency, ask for examples of previous roofing SEO work.

Questions worth asking include:

What was the starting point?

Which markets did the company target?

What services were prioritized?

What changed on the website?

How did organic visibility change?

Did organic leads increase?

How long did the campaign run?

What was the SEO strategy?

Specific examples are much more useful than vague claims about being a "top SEO agency."

Understand the Monthly SEO Package

Every agency defines SEO differently.

Before signing a contract, ask exactly what is included.

Your monthly package might include:

Keyword research

Technical SEO

On-page SEO

Content creation

Local SEO

Google Business Profile optimization

Link building

Website updates

Conversion optimization

Competitor research

Reporting

Find out whether important services cost extra.

A low monthly price may not include the work you actually need.

Be Careful With Guaranteed Rankings

Be skeptical of guarantees such as:

"We guarantee #1 on Google."

Search rankings depend on many factors outside an agency's direct control.

A better agency should explain:

What it plans to improve

Which keywords it is targeting

How difficult those keywords are

What competitors are doing

How progress will be measured

What happens if certain strategies do not work

SEO should be treated as an ongoing process rather than a guaranteed ranking product.

Ask Who Will Manage Your Campaign

Find out who will actually work on your account.

Ask:

Who performs the SEO work?

Who writes the content?

Who handles technical SEO?

Who manages local SEO?

Who builds links?

Who reviews the results?

Who communicates with you?

You want to know whether your account will be managed by experiencedsearch engine optimization agency for roofing professionals or passed between different teams.

Compare Agencies Using the Same Questions

If you are comparing several SEO agencies, ask each one the same questions.

For example:

Have you worked with roofing companies?

Do you have roofing SEO case studies?

How do you research roofing keywords?

How do you approach local SEO?

How do you generate roofing leads from organic traffic?

What technical SEO work is included?

How do you build backlinks?

How do you create roofing content?

How do you measure qualified leads?

How often do you report results?

Who will manage my campaign?

What is included in the monthly fee?

What additional costs should I expect?

How do you approach AI search?

How will you determine whether the campaign is working?

Comparing answers side by side can make the decision much easier.

Think About SEO as a Lead Generation System

The best way to evaluate roofing SEO is to look at the entire customer journey.

A potential customer searches for a roofing service.

They find your website.

They read about your service.

They look at your projects and reviews.

They decide that your company may be a good fit.

They request an estimate.

Your sales team follows up.

The customer becomes a job.

That is the complete SEO funnel.

The agency should understand every stage.

Final Thoughts

Finding an SEO agency for a roofing company is not simply about finding someone who knows how to rank websites.

You need an agency that understands roofing services, local search, customer intent, technical SEO, content, conversion optimization, and lead generation.

Look for evidence of relevant experience.

Ask detailed questions.

Understand exactly what you are paying for.

And focus on business outcomes rather than vanity metrics.

For a roofing professional, successful SEO should ultimately help more potential customers find the company, understand its services, request estimates, and become paying customers.

How to Find the Best Window Company SEO Agency

SEO can be a major source of leads for window and door companies.

Homeowners search Google when they need replacement windows, entry doors, patio doors, sliding doors, or new windows for a renovation or new construction project.

But ranking for these searches is not easy.

Window and door companies often compete against local installers, manufacturers, distributors, national brands, home improvement websites, and large directories.

That is why choosing an SEO agency with experience in the window and door industry can make a big difference.

The right agency should understand more than keywords. It should understand how homeowners search, how window and door companies sell, and how organic traffic turns into estimate requests and sales opportunities.

Here are some important things to look for when choosing an SEO agency in North America.

Look for Window and Door SEO Experience

The first question to ask is simple:

Have you done SEO for window and door companies before?

Industry experience matters because window and door SEO has its own terminology, products, buying cycles, and search behavior.

An experienced agency should understand searches related to:

Replacement windows

Vinyl windows

Fiberglass windows

Aluminum windows

Energy-efficient windows

Bay windows

Bow windows

Casement windows

Sliding windows

Awning windows

Entry doors

Patio doors

Sliding glass doors

French doors

Fiberglass doors

Steel doors

Exterior doors

Commercial windows

Commercial doors

Window installation

Door installation

The agency should also understand that different searches can represent very different levels of buying intent.

Someone searching for "types of replacement windows" may still be researching.

Someone searching for "replacement windows near me" may be much closer to contacting a company.

Ask About Local SEO

Most window and door companies depend heavily on local customers.

A homeowner usually wants an installer who serves their city or region.

That makes local SEO extremely important.

Ask the agency how it will optimize your business for the locations you serve.

This can include:

Google Business Profile optimization

Local landing pages

City-specific service pages

Local citations

Reviews

Local backlinks

Location signals

On-page optimization

Local structured data

Your agency should also understand the difference between creating useful location pages and simply producing dozens of nearly identical city pages.

Good local SEO should provide useful information for people in each market.

Look at the Agency's Keyword Strategy

Don't hire an agency simply because it promises to rank you for one keyword.

Window and door SEO requires a broader strategy.

A good keyword plan may include several groups.

Product Keywords

These focus on specific products.

Examples include:

replacement windows

vinyl replacement windows

fiberglass windows

sliding patio doors

exterior doors

fiberglass entry doors

Service Keywords

These focus on what the company does.

Examples include:

window installation

window replacement

door installation

patio door installation

replacement window contractor

Location Keywords

These combine services with geographic areas.

Examples include:

window replacement Toronto

window installation Mississauga

replacement windows Hamilton

patio doors Markham

Problem-Based Keywords

These focus on customer problems.

Examples include:

drafty windows

windows with condensation

foggy window glass

energy-efficient replacement windows

how to replace old windows

A strong SEO strategy can target customers at different stages of the buying process.

Ask Whether They Understand Lead Generation

Traffic is not the same as leads.

This is one of the most important questions to ask an SEO agency.

If an agency tells you that it generated 50,000 monthly visitors, ask:

How many qualified inquiries did those visitors generate?

For a window and door company, the ultimate objective is usually not page views.

It is business.

That can mean:

Estimate requests

Phone calls

Consultation requests

Appointment bookings

Quote requests

Showroom visits

Your SEO agency for window and door contractor business should understand the difference between traffic and commercial intent.

Check Their Technical SEO Knowledge

Window and door websites can become surprisingly complicated.

Companies may have hundreds of products, styles, colors, materials, configurations, locations, and service pages.

This creates technical SEO challenges.

Ask whether the agency handles:

Website architecture

Indexation

Canonical tags

Redirects

XML sitemaps

Page speed

Mobile optimization

Internal linking

Structured data

Duplicate content

Broken links

Image optimization

Core Web Vitals

Technical SEO creates the foundation for the rest of the campaign.

Ask About Content Strategy

A good window and door SEO campaign needs useful content.

But that does not mean publishing dozens of generic 500-word articles every month.

The content should answer questions potential customers actually ask.

For example:

How much do replacement windows cost?

What is the difference between vinyl and fiberglass windows?

How long does window replacement take?

Are triple-pane windows worth it?

What type of window is best for a basement?

What is the difference between sliding and casement windows?

How long do replacement windows last?

These topics can attract people who are researching before contacting an installer.

Product Pages Matter

Many window and door companies focus heavily on their homepage and service pages.

Product pages can also be valuable SEO assets.

A good product page should explain:

What the product is

Who it is for

Available options

Materials

Features

Benefits

Installation

Energy efficiency

Sizes or configurations

Warranty information

Pricing information when appropriate

Frequently asked questions

The page should also make it easy for visitors to request a quote or consultation.

Ask About Conversion Optimization

SEO brings people to your website.

Your website needs to turn those visitors into inquiries.

Ask the agency whether conversion rate optimization is included in the strategy.

For a window and door company, useful conversion elements can include:

Request-a-quote forms

Free estimate offers

Click-to-call buttons

Consultation booking

Product selection forms

Financing information

Service-area information

Reviews

Project galleries

Installation examples

The agency should be looking at what happens after someone arrives from Google.

Look at Their Approach to Reviews

Reviews are important for local businesses.

A potential customer may compare several window and door companies before requesting an estimate.

Ask the agency how it approaches reputation management.

The agency should help you understand:

How to request reviews

Where reviews matter

How to respond professionally

How to monitor customer feedback

How to improve your local presence

The goal should be genuine customer feedback rather than manufactured reviews.

Ask About Backlinks

Backlinks can be an important part of SEO.

But not all backlinks have the same value.

Ask the agency where its links come from.

A good agency should be able to explain its link-building process clearly.

Potential sources may include:

Industry publications

Local business organizations

Home improvement publications

Manufacturer relationships

Local news

Construction organizations

Relevant industry directories

Be cautious if an agency promises hundreds of backlinks every month without explaining their quality or relevance.

More links do not automatically mean better SEO.

Check Their Understanding of Manufacturers and Installers

The SEO strategy can be different depending on the business model.

A window manufacturer may target distributors, dealers, builders, contractors, and homeowners.

A local installer may focus primarily on homeowners in specific cities.

A distributor may target both consumers and contractors.

A company that sells replacement windows directly to homeowners has different search-intent requirements from a manufacturer selling through a dealer network.

Your SEO agency should understand your business model before creating the strategy.

Ask About AI Search and SEO

Search is changing.

Customers are increasingly using AI tools to research products and services.

That means window and door companies should consider how their content can be understood and referenced by AI-powered search systems as well as traditional search engines.

Ask the agency how it approaches:

Entity optimization

Structured data

Author and company information

First-hand experience

Product information

FAQs

Clear factual content

Local business information

AI search visibility

This should complement traditional SEO rather than replace it.

Ask How They Measure Success

A good SEO agency should provide regular reporting.

But don't focus only on rankings.

Ask for information about:

Organic traffic

Keyword visibility

Search impressions

Click-through rates

Organic leads

Phone calls

Quote requests

Appointment bookings

Conversion rates

Revenue where tracking is available

A keyword moving from position 15 to position 8 is useful information.

But knowing that the keyword generated 20 qualified estimate requests is much more useful from a business perspective.

Ask How Long SEO Will Take

Be careful with agencies that promise immediate results.

SEO usually requires time.

The timeline depends on factors such as:

Website age

Existing authority

Competition

Geographic market

Current rankings

Content quality

Technical condition

Backlink profile

Website architecture

Search demand

A good agency should explain what it expects to accomplish during the first few months.

For example:

Month 1: Technical audit, keyword research, competitor research, and strategy.

Months 2–3: Technical improvements, core service pages, local optimization, and content development.

Months 4–6: Content expansion, authority building, conversion optimization, and ongoing testing.

The actual timeline will vary from one website to another.

Ask for Examples of Previous Work

Don't be afraid to ask for evidence.

Ask the agency:

Can you show me websites you have worked on?

What did the websites look like before the campaign?

What changed?

Which keywords improved?

Did organic leads increase?

What was the strategy?

You don't need to accept every marketing claim at face value.

The more specific the evidence, the easier it is to evaluate.

Understand What the Monthly Fee Includes

SEO pricing varies widely.

Before signing a contract, find out exactly what you are paying for.

Ask whether the monthly service includes:

Keyword research

Technical SEO

Content writing

On-page optimization

Local SEO

Google Business Profile work

Link building

Website updates

Conversion optimization

Reporting

Competitor research

AI search optimization

Some agencies charge separately for content, website development, or link building.

Understanding the scope from the beginning can prevent surprises later.

Don't Choose an Agency Based Only on Price

The cheapest SEO agency is not necessarily the least expensive option.

If an agency produces low-quality content, targets irrelevant keywords, or fails to generate qualified traffic, the monthly fee can become an unnecessary expense.

At the same time, a higher price does not automatically mean better SEO.

Look at the strategy, experience, deliverables, communication, reporting, and evidence of results.

Choose an Agency That Understands the Sales Process

Window and door purchases are often high-value decisions.

A customer may visit several websites, compare materials, request multiple estimates, speak with salespeople, and take weeks or months before making a decision.

Your SEO agency should understand this buying journey.

The strategy should not stop at getting someone to visit your website.

It should help move potential customers from:

Search → Website → Product Research → Quote Request → Consultation → Sale

That is where SEO becomes a business-development channel rather than simply a source of website traffic.

Final Thoughts

Finding the right SEO agency for a window and door company in North America requires more than searching for an agency with good-looking SEO packages.

Look for industry knowledge.

Look for local SEO experience.

Look for technical expertise.

Look for strong content.

Look for conversion tracking.

And most importantly, look for an agency that understands the difference between rankings, traffic, leads, appointments, and actual business results.

A window and door company should be able to explain exactly which markets it wants to target, which products it wants to sell, which customers it wants to reach, and what a qualified lead looks like.

The SEO agency should then build its strategy around those business objectives.

That is a much better starting point than simply trying to rank for as many keywords as possible.

How to Find a ChatGPT Ads Agency for Ecommerce

ChatGPT Ads is becoming another channel for ecommerce brands that want to reach customers while they are researching products, comparing options, and making purchasing decisions.

OpenAI now provides Ads Manager for creating, launching, measuring, and optimizing ChatGPT advertising campaigns. OpenAI also supports product-feed campaigns for retail advertisers with larger or frequently changing catalogs.

For Shopify merchants, OpenAI has also introduced a Shopify integration that can connect a store's product catalog and eligible commerce-event data with ChatGPT Ads Manager.

Because ChatGPT advertising is still a relatively new channel, choosing an agency requires a different approach from choosing a traditional Google Ads or Meta Ads agency.

Here are the main things ecommerce brands should look for.

Look for Real ChatGPT Ads Experience

The first question to ask an agency is simple:

Have you actually managed ChatGPT Ads campaigns?

Running Google Ads or Meta Ads does not automatically mean an agency knows how to manage ChatGPT Ads.

The advertising environment is different.

OpenAI says ChatGPT Ads considers multiple relevance signals, including the context and intent of the current conversation, the ad's landing page, title, copy, advertiser-provided context hints, and, when personalization is enabled, certain signals from a user's broader ChatGPT experience.

That means an agency should understand how conversational intent affects advertising.

Ask potential agencies:

How many ChatGPT Ads campaigns have you managed?

Which ecommerce categories have you worked with?

How do you structure ad groups?

How do you use context hints?

How do you measure conversions?

How do you optimize campaigns after launch?

Specific answers are more useful than general claims about being an "AI marketing agency."

Check Whether They Understand Ecommerce

A good ChatGPT Ads agency for a service business may not necessarily be the right agency for an ecommerce store.

Ecommerce advertising has its own challenges.

An agency should understand:

Product catalogs

Product feeds

Shopify

Product pricing

Inventory

Product margins

Average order value

Customer acquisition cost

Conversion rates

Repeat purchases

Product-level performance

Shopping campaigns

Landing pages

Ecommerce analytics

Product-feed campaigns are particularly relevant to retailers because they can allow advertisers to bring a larger catalog into ChatGPT Ads and create ads at scale. OpenAI says product-feed campaigns are designed for retail advertisers with broad or frequently changing catalogs.

Ask About Shopify Integration

If you operate a Shopify store, ask whether the agency understands the current Shopify integration.

OpenAI's Shopify integration can connect a Shopify store's product catalog and commerce-event data to ChatGPT Ads Manager. The setup can also connect an OpenAI Pixel for Shopify so eligible commerce events can flow to Ads Manager.

This matters because an ecommerce agency should understand more than ad copy.

They should understand the technical connection between your store and the advertising platform.

Ask the agency:

Can you connect and troubleshoot our Shopify product catalog?

Can you set up conversion measurement?

Can you check whether products are synchronizing correctly?

Can you diagnose feed problems?

These questions can quickly separate a general marketing agency from an agency that understands ecommerce advertising infrastructure.

Look at How They Build Product Ads

ChatGPT Ads are different from traditional keyword advertising.

OpenAI recommends clear, specific, benefit-focused ad copy. It also recommends creating multiple distinct variations rather than repeating essentially the same message.

An ecommerce agency should therefore be able to explain how it will create different advertising angles for your products.

For example, a product could be promoted around:

Price

Product features

Convenience

Quality

Use case

Customer problem

Product comparison

Product category

Seasonal demand

The agency should also understand that the ads need to accurately represent the product and landing page.

Ask How They Measure Results

Do not choose an agency simply because it promises impressions or clicks.

Ask what happens after someone clicks an ad.

A serious ecommerce measurement strategy should connect advertising activity with business outcomes.

Depending on the campaign, you may want to monitor:

Impressions

Clicks

CTR

CPC

CPM

Conversions

Conversion rate

Revenue

Cost per acquisition

Return on ad spend

Average order value

OpenAI's current Ads Manager reporting includes impressions, clicks, spend, CTR, average CPC, average CPM, and conversions. Conversion measurement can be configured in Ads Manager.

Your agency should be able to explain exactly which metrics it will use to evaluate your campaigns.

Don't Choose an Agency Based Only on ROAS Promises

Be careful with agencies that promise a specific ROAS before they have seen your store, products, pricing, margins, conversion rate, and advertising data.

There are too many variables.

For example, two ecommerce companies can sell similar products but have completely different economics.

One might have:

$100 average order value

$30 product cost

$20 customer acquisition cost

Another might have:

$40 average order value

$25 product cost

$25 customer acquisition cost

The same advertising performance could produce very different business results.

A good agency should first understand your economics and then establish realistic performance benchmarks.

Ask About Their Optimization Process

Launching a campaign is only the beginning.

Ask what the agency does after launch.

A useful optimization process should include regular analysis of:

Ad performance

Product performance

Audience relevance

Conversion data

Landing-page performance

Budget allocation

Creative variations

Product-feed quality

Cost trends

You should also ask how frequently the agency reviews campaigns.

You don't necessarily need someone making random changes every few hours.

You need a structured process that uses actual performance data.

Find Out Who Actually Manages Your Account

Some agencies sell services through a salesperson and then transfer the account to another team.

Ask:

Who will actually manage my ChatGPT Ads account?

Also ask:

How experienced are they?

How often will they review the account?

Who writes the ads?

Who handles tracking?

Who handles product-feed problems?

Who communicates with you?

Who approves major changes?

This is particularly important with a new advertising platform where hands-on experience can matter.

Ask for a Clear Testing Strategy

Your first campaign should not necessarily be treated as the final campaign.

An agency should have a testing plan.

For example, it might test:

Product selection

Which products should receive the initial budget?

Ad messaging

Which benefits and use cases generate engagement?

Context

Which conversational situations are relevant to the products?

Landing pages

Which pages produce better conversion rates?

Budget

How should spending be distributed across products and campaigns?

The objective should be to learn what works and then use those findings to improve the account.

Consider Whether the Agency Understands Your Product Category

Product knowledge matters.

Selling supplements is different from selling furniture.

Selling electronics is different from selling apparel.

Selling industrial products is different from selling beauty products.

An agency should understand the buying process for your particular category.

Ask whether they have worked with similar ecommerce businesses.

If they have not, ask how they plan to learn the category before launching campaigns.

Evaluate Their Understanding of AI-Native Advertising

ChatGPT Ads are not simply another version of Google Search Ads.

The environment is conversational.

People can use ChatGPT to research products, compare alternatives, understand features, ask for recommendations, and make decisions.

OpenAI describes ChatGPT Ads as a way for advertisers to reach people while they explore options, compare choices, and make decisions.

That creates a different advertising environment.

An agency should understand how to communicate product value in that context.

Ask About Reporting

Your agency should provide reporting that you can actually understand.

A useful report should answer questions such as:

How much did we spend?

How many people interacted with the ads?

Which products received the most attention?

Which products generated conversions?

What did we learn?

What are we changing next?

Avoid reports that contain dozens of metrics but provide no explanation of what they mean for your business.

Look for Transparency

You should know where your advertising budget is going.

Ask about:

Agency fees

Advertising spend

Setup fees

Creative fees

Tracking fees

Landing-page fees

Additional technology costs

Also ask whether you retain ownership of your advertising account and data.

Ideally, your business should maintain appropriate access to its own Ads Manager account.

North America Matters

If your ecommerce business sells in the United States and Canada, consider whether the agency understands both markets.

There can be differences in:

Currency

Shipping

Taxes

Consumer behavior

Product availability

Geographic targeting

Pricing

Regulations

Seasonality

An agency serving North American ecommerce brands should be able to explain how it approaches these differences.

ChatGPT Ads have also been expanding into additional markets during 2026, so availability and platform capabilities can change over time.

Ask the agency which markets it currently supports and what campaign capabilities are available in your target market.

Compare Agencies Using the Same Questions

When evaluating several agencies, ask each one the same questions.

For example:

How much ChatGPT Ads experience do you have?

How many ecommerce campaigns have you managed?

Do you work with Shopify?

Can you manage product feeds?

How do you set up conversion tracking?

How do you structure campaigns and ad groups?

How do you create different product advertising angles?

How frequently do you optimize campaigns?

What metrics do you report?

Who manages my account?

What are your management fees?

Who owns the Ads Manager account?

What is included in your service?

How do you handle unsuccessful campaigns?

What information do you need from us before launching?

The answers will give you a much clearer picture than simply comparing agency websites.

Should You Hire a Specialized ChatGPT Ads Agency?

For some ecommerce businesses, working directly with Ads Manager may be enough.

OpenAI provides self-serve Ads Manager tools for businesses to create accounts, set budgets, upload ads, launch campaigns, and view performance.

An agency becomes more useful when you want someone else to handle the ongoing work.

That can include:

Account setup

Campaign structure

Product-feed setup

Shopify integration

Conversion tracking

Ad creation

Testing

Optimization

Reporting

Troubleshooting

The decision ultimately depends on your internal resources, technical experience, product catalog, advertising budget, and how much campaign management you want to handle yourself.

Final Thoughts

Finding a ChatGPT Ads agency for ecommerce is not simply about finding an agency that uses the words "AI" or "ChatGPT" on its website.

Look for practical experience.

Look for ecommerce knowledge.

Look for technical understanding.

Look for transparent reporting.

And look for an agency that can explain exactly how it plans to turn your products, catalog, customer data, and advertising budget into measurable campaigns.

ChatGPT Ads is still an evolving advertising platform. That makes hands-on experience, careful testing, accurate measurement, and a willingness to adapt particularly important for ecommerce businesses entering the channel.

The best agency for your business will ultimately depend on your products, market, goals, budget, and internal capabilities. The most useful first step is to ask detailed questions and compare the answers before handing over your advertising account.

Connecting a Shopify Store to ChatGPT Ads

There is a native app for this now. It lives in the Shopify App Store. Search "ChatGPT Ads for Shopify". You may still read June guides about hand-wiring theme.liquid. That part is now optional.

Here is what the connection actually does. It pushes your catalog into a ChatGPT Ads product feed. It pushes commerce events into the ad account. Through the OpenAI pixel. Then it lets you launch campaigns without leaving Shopify admin.

One thing to know before you spend. Ads only render for ChatGPT users on Free and Go plans. Plus, Pro, Business, Team and Enterprise never see them. So the audience skews price sensitive. Build creative for that.

As of this writing the app covers US Shopify merchants. OpenAI says availability follows wherever ChatGPT ads run. Check their help page, not this post. This surface moves monthly.

What you need first

• An active Shopify store.
• An active ChatGPT Ads Manager account. Or the details to create one.
• Permission to install and manage apps in Shopify.
• Permission to manage the ad account.
• A website, industry, country, currency. Plus time zone, for the ad account.

That last line trips stores up. Your ad account needs a legal billing entity. Selling into Canada? The country you set decides billing. It also gates feed eligibility.

The catalog layer most people skip

Most people skip the catalog. Start there.

Shopify product data already reaches ChatGPT. It arrives through Shopify Catalog. No separate application for organic discovery. Since the agentic storefront rollout, eligible US stores are discoverable by default.

The control lives in Shopify admin. Open Settings, then Sales channels. Find ChatGPT under the Agentic section. Confirm it matches your intent.

Organic visibility depends on feed quality. Your ads draw from that same catalog. Fix it once. Two channels improve.

Before connecting, check every product you plan to advertise:

• A descriptive title. Not a SKU, not a color code.
• A real description. Answer the questions a shopper would ask aloud.
• A genuine barcode or GTIN on the correct variant.
• Current price, compare-at price, and true availability.
• Variant images, not one shared hero photo.
• Product type and category assigned.
• Completed policy pages. Terms, privacy, returns.

Now check the rendering. Important facts must sit in the storefront HTML. Not in an app's tab. Not only in admin metafields. A crawler reading an empty shell indexes an empty shell.

Connect the store

The official flow has six steps.

In Shopify, install and open the ChatGPT Ads app.

Select Connect Account.

Choose an existing Ads Manager account. Or create one. You confirm organization, name, website, industry. Then country, currency, time zone.

Select or create the OpenAI Pixel for Shopify.

Connect that pixel, so eligible commerce events flow to Ads Manager.

Wait for inventory to sync into your ChatGPT Ads product feed.

Sync time depends on catalog size. Forty SKUs is quick. Forty thousand variants is not. Refresh Ads Manager once it finishes.

Now build the campaign. Shopify can do it, or Ads Manager.

• Open the ChatGPT ad area in the app.
• Click Create Campaign.
• Set campaign name, budget, optimization event, targeting.
• Choose an ad type. All products, single product, or website.
• Pick the products to include.
• Review the preview.
• Create and launch.

Shopify covers the basics. Budget control is coarser. You get fixed increments. The docs cite $25 steps in Shopify. Ads Manager takes an exact $28. Fine controls live at ads.openai.com.

Want a conversion-optimized feed campaign? Two gates. Select exactly one active standard conversion event. Your account must be enabled for conversion bidding. Miss either and creation fails with a 403. Then ask support to switch it on.

The measurement layer, and where it breaks

The pixel alone will not give honest numbers. OpenAI is explicit here. The Conversions API is the more reliable source. Not the browser pixel.

Know the anatomy of the browser layer. Then you can verify it.

The pixel file is oaiq.min.js. It loads from an OpenAI CDN. It initializes with your pixel ID. On click-through it sets a first-party __oppref cookie. That cookie runs 30 days. It stitches the ad click to a later purchase.

Shopify's custom pixel editor is the clean install point. No theme edits, no tag manager.

In Shopify admin, open Settings, then Customer events. Add a custom pixel. Paste the snippet the app or Ads Manager generates. Then map events. These are the five names the integrations use:

• page_viewed to page_viewed
• contents_viewed on product pages
• product_added_to_cart to items_added
• checkout_started to checkout_started
• checkout_completed to order_created

Illustrative shape, not a drop-in build. Use the snippet the app or Ads Manager generates. Keep the API secret out of browser code. That belongs server side.

Subscribe with analytics.subscribe inside the pixel. Keep debug true while testing. Turn it off after.

Two traps in this part.

First, blockers. A slice of traffic kills the browser pixel every day. That is why purchases must also go server side.

Second, deduplication. Every purchase must arrive with the same event_id on both calls. OpenAI deduplicates on that key. Derive it from the Shopify order ID. It is unique and stable.

Without a shared event_id you get double counting. Your reported ROAS becomes fiction. With no server-side call at all, your purchase count is low. Both errors push you toward the same wrong conclusions.

Server side looks like this:

• Subscribe to the Shopify orders/create webhook.
• Forward the event to OpenAI's Conversions API endpoint, bzr.openai.com/v1/events.
• Send order ID, value, currency, line items, and the shared event_id.
• Keep the API secret on the server. Never in browser code.

Getting that key: in ads.openai.com, open Tools, then Conversions. Create a data source with type Web. That gives you the Pixel ID. Then open conversion keys and create one. The key begins with sk-svc- and displays exactly once. Store it in a secrets manager. Not on your desktop.

Would rather not build that plumbing? Use a measurement partner app. They map five Shopify events to OpenAI's taxonomy. Purchases forward from the order webhook. OpenAI also documents partner integrations. Either is fine. Then verify. Match their counts against Shopify orders. Never trust a dashboard alone.

UTM discipline, or GA4 lies

Untagged clicks from AI surfaces often carry no classifiable referrer. They land in Direct. Your paid spend then hides in a bucket you cannot report on.

Lock UTMs on every destination URL. Keep them consistent. Use:

utm_source=chatgpt
utm_medium=cpc
utm_campaign=[campaign name]

Confirm no other app rewrites the query string. Then check GA4 channel grouping.

One more reason. Answer engines send real traffic now. It is organic and unpriced. Tag paid chat traffic separately, or you cannot split the two later.

Feed depth, if you outgrow the app

The native app syncs catalog data. Some merchants need more control. Intraday price changes. Promotions. Real inventory under heavy variant counts.

For that, OpenAI's product feed documentation describes a direct path. Full snapshots pushed at least daily, plus API upserts during the day. Prefer Parquet with zstd. Gzipped JSONL, CSV and TSV work too. UTF-8 throughout. Stable filenames.

Promotions are API only. Removals must be explicit. Set the eligibility flag to false, or drop the record from the next full snapshot. Never let a feed go stale and hope.

New retail advertisers are usually asked for a sample first. Around 100 representative SKUs. Start with top revenue items. Cleaner signal in the first weeks.

Now note the difference. The Ads Manager feed serves sponsored product ads. The Shopify Catalog path serves organic discovery. Separate systems. Feed quality lifts both. Neither replaces the other.

A quick robots.txt check

Blocking OpenAI's crawlers hurts both surfaces. Allow Googlebot and bingbot as usual. Bing still feeds ChatGPT's retrieval layer. Do not block search or ads agents at the edge.

Verify it. Curl your own URL. Then confirm real hits in the access log. Do not guess.

Troubleshooting, in the order that saves time

If products do not appear in Ads Manager:

• Confirm the app points at the correct Ads Manager account.
• Confirm the product feed finished syncing.
• Check that the products are active and available in Shopify.
• Confirm the OpenAI Pixel for Shopify is connected.
• Refresh Ads Manager after sync completes.
• Try Chrome or Safari. Support notes browser issues here.

If the feed is fine but conversions read low:

• Check that one standard conversion event is active, and only one.
• Check the pixel fires on all pages, not just product templates.
• Check server-side events land with a shared event_id.
• Check event match quality, not just event count.
• Check currency and country on the ad account match the store.

If campaigns fail at creation with a 403:

• Ask for conversion bidding to be enabled on the account.

If nothing works, email ads-support@openai.com. Include the Ads Manager account ID you are trying to connect.

Disconnecting, and what it costs you

Disconnecting Shopify stops future product updates. It does not delete your ad account or your campaigns. Campaigns that depend on the disconnected feed may pause or stop updating.

Treat the connection as live infrastructure. Retire the app and product ads degrade quietly. Not loudly. Nobody notices that failure in week two.

What to do in your first two weeks

• Week one. Connect the app. Verify the pixel fires on all five events. Place one test order. Watch it arrive with a matching event_id.
• Week one. Fix titles and GTINs on your top 20 SKUs. Leave the long tail alone for now.
• Week two. Launch one product campaign. All products. One optimization event. A daily budget you can afford to lose. Let the auction find the context.
• Week two. Compare Ads Manager purchases to Shopify orders tagged chatgpt. Note the gap. Fix tracking before you touch bids.

Most early failures are plumbing. Not media.

Need help building this properly? Work with an OpenAI Partner ChatGPT Ads Agency for e-commerce.

A partner earns the fee in the messy parts. Feed hygiene. Server-side events. Deduplication. A bidding structure that survives a changing auction. Ask for the event_id scheme before signing. If they cannot explain it, they have never shipped a conversion campaign.

The channel is young. Inventory, pricing and penetration have all moved several times in 2026. Anyone quoting a fixed CPM from memory is quoting history. Build the plumbing so you can read the truth yourself.
