Are my boots starting

Are my boots starting me out in the backseat

Fist season was in the mid west at Mad River Mountain (OH) and Bittersweet (MI). Last year I got four days in at Snow Summit in CA (stayed on Chair 9, Summit Run and Miracle Mile) and two days in Tahoe at Diamond Peak (Freeway, Penguin, Popular, Crystal Ridge during a storm no groomed runs) and Northstar (day after the storm, nice groomers off Zephyr Express lift). So far this year I've put in one day at Jiminy Peak in Mass (hit most of the greens and blues on the right side of the hill on cheap rental gear in very icy conditions struggled, burning thighs, backseat).

Body/Fitness: I am 31 years old, 5'10", and 165 pounds, size 8.5 Nike running shoes (run 2 3 miles 2 3 days a week with light gym workout focusing on legs, pushups and crunches, played varsity soccer, basketball and baseball in high school) cheap nfl jerseys china

Boots: Rossignol Zenith Sensor3 100 size 26.5 ("fitted" at Mountain Air Sports in San Luis Obispo about two fingers in empty shell)

I ski 167cm K2 Apache Raiders with Marker Mod 11.0 bindings.

All of that said, I will be taking some lessons this winter and I am not blaming my beginner skills on my equipment, however I would like an initial check on whether or not my boots are working against me.

I usually end up in the back seat a lot, lose confidence and end up pressing my skis against the snow (series of hockey stops) instead of standing over my feet with my skeleton carrying the load. Result is burning thighs and diminished confidence. (I recognize this is a technique/skill issue).

These questions may be too loaded or open ended, but some initial evaluation on this would be nice. (Note: I have read all of the "heel lift", "burning thighs/quads", "backseat" threads)

My novice technique (flaws) aside, are my boots working against me? cheap jerseys

Are my boots too stiff?

With my limited (haven't measured) dorsiflexion, would the heel lifts help?

Are my skis too long? Cheap NFL Jerseys

(Easy answer: take private lessons and stop by SierraJim's . but I just don't have the time (leave days) or money)

I am heading to China Peak (Sierra Summit) this weekend and will likely try a day with the heel lifts (while also working on some hopping/stepping/side slipping/garland drills)!

I have attached some pictures for reference.

I measured to 8.5 on a "Brannock" device with a metric tape and came up with 26.5cm (there about) of length, usually a person who wears a 8.5 shoe will have feet slightly shorter than the shoe, how long is your foot in cm? It is possible your boots are too big, this will allow your feet and liner to slip around inside the shell, as your foot moves forward inside the boot, your knee will move to the rear(backseatitus). Another tell tale is if your foot bed is longer than your feet.

The forward lean on a boot "can" push the knee too far forward causing you to sit back, plus in the shots you appear to be standing with your hips hanging out behind you heels (backseatitus again), to see this draw a vertical line upward from your boot sole center through your torso, the center of your hip seams to be about 4 to 5 inches behind the boot sole center. If you were to have your femur more upright, would you feel like you would fall over forward?

I will stop by a shoe store this evening to measure my foot on a Brannock device for reference. That said, it is highly likely that the boots may be too big (both slightly long and wide I will do some empty shell measurements using a pen as a reference). I tried on a few different boots in the shop and went with this boot because it was the tightest. However, my left inner ankle did feel pressure (no punch or grind was done) and the tops of both feet felt great pressure. These boots killed my feet the first couple of times out, but as I wore them around the house and after getting about seven days in them, they packed out and are pretty much pain free for most of the day. The tightest pressure points are on the top of the foot (high instep), but this is releaved by popping the buckles on the lift. They are still a bear to get on though (impossible if at less than room temperature). wholesale jerseys

I realized that another question that I did not directly ask was, is the issue physiological (flexibility)? This is in reference to photos A and B above. As you have pointed out, my hips are already behind my heels. Likely a more upright (femur and torso) stance would help this, however I don't feel like I can effectively keep my shins pressed against the front of the boots and get the tips to engage on steeper terrain in this stance (flexibility or boot prohibiting issue remains to be determined). I am attempting to self assess and address the TAPP (Technique, Alignment, Psychological, Physiological) areas.

As far as the boot foot. I measured my foot in my ski sock on a Brannock device at a shoe store and the tip of my big toe rested on the 8. I did a self shell fit (they did not do this at more local store) andheel space definitely approaches 25mm and probably varried on the sides between 2 3mm (with at least 1mm +/ 1mmmargin of measurement error in both dimensions). That said, I could definitely go down to a 25.5 in this boot based on the shell fit (I do have a high insteap and have significant pressure on the top of my foot a buckle 3 from top).

Are monocles on their

Are monocles on their way back

We know eyeglasses are growing in popularity, but monocles?

A recent New York Times articledelightfully titled, "One Part Mr. Peanut, One Part Hipster Chic: The Monocle Returns as a Fashion Accessory," has provoked a incredulous "huh?" across fashion blogs, including this one. wholesale jerseys

"From the trendy enclaves of Berlin cafes and Manhattan restaurants to gin ads and fashion magazines, the monocle is taking its turn alongside key 21st century accouterments like sharply tucked plaid shirts and certificates in swine butchering," according to the article. cheap jerseys

There's no denying hipsters' collective devotion to the days of yore, but while we've seen Manhattans and Edison lightbulbs all over the place, we've yet to encounter a monocle clad lady or gent. Cheap NFL Jerseys

As Styleite points out, "The Times has a history of writing about "trends" that are either completely obvious (like people eating chopped salads for lunch or teens hugging) or non existent." If this particular trend is in the works, we'll believe it when we see it from behind our gold rimmed, single lensed eyepieces, naturally.

In the meantime, take a look at the gallery above to see some dapper folks looking rather fashionable in monocles. cheap nfl jerseys china

Are Men In Lingerie Perverted

Are Men In Lingerie Perverted wholesale jerseys

When the issue of men wearing lingerie is discussed, there are two often heard counterpoints, or slurs that are thrown in the direction of such men. One of these is that the man in questions must be gay. This issue has been addressed more fully in another article, but suffice to say, most men who wear women's lingerie are straight men. Most cross dressers in fact, tend to be straight. When the gay objection is dismissed as being untrue, doubters and haters tend to fall back on the 'perverted' argument.

It's just wrong they say. Wrong for a man to wear, or perhaps to even think about wearing women's lingerie. Let's think about that statement for a moment. Though it might be tempting to dismiss such accusations out of hand for being facile and ignorant, I believe it is worth looking at this issue as it is one that many men cite as the reason for holding back from wearing women's lingerie, or the reason that they did hold back for so long.

Is it perverted for men to wear lingerie? We can explore this issue, by looking at the flip side. Is it wrong for a woman to wear men's underwear? Or outerwear for that matter? Clearly this is not a widely held perception in Western society. In fact, the sight of a woman in an oversized T Shirt and men's boxer shorts has become mainstream, cute even. And why not? Women often cite that they enjoy wearing men's boxers due to the comfort factor. At the all girl school I attended, men's boxers became a popular fad for a while, every girl owned at least one pair. I doubt a single reader is currently recoiling in disgust at having read that, yet if I related a story of a boy's school where all the boys took to wearing lace panties, the reaction would most likely be notably different.

The fact is that there is an unequal and unfair taboo in our Western society when it comes to men expressing anything remotely feminine. It is considered almost unnatural. How strange that we should have accepted the movement of women into more masculine roles and modes of dress, but that we still so staunchly resist the reverse. cheap jerseys

Of course, perhaps we should not complain too loudly about this fact. For many men, breaking the taboo is exactly what makes wearing women's lingerie so naughty and pleasurable. In fact, one could say that every person staunchly clinging to a thought system that leads them to find the notion of men wearing panties to be perverted, actually adds a little to the forbidden, naughty nature of the act itself.

Clearly there is nothing perverted about men wearing women's lingerie. The millions of men around the world who like to wear women's lingerie speak by their sheer volume. This is not an unnatural desire. This is a desire driven (for most) by tactile pleasure first and foremost, and a naughty thrill secondly. Wearing women's lingerie is an activity that certainly hurts no one, and adds spice and vigor to the sex and every day lives of many men and women on a daily basis.

SatinJenni 7 years ago from Burlington Ontario Canada

Laughing at your analogy of the school in which the boys have taken to wearing panties. All I can think of is . You are right, some women wear boxers and other masculine type pants. I could wear a suit and and tie to work and not get funny looks, but if a man showed up in a dress. well. somehow I think he might have some problems at the office that day :)

SatinJenni 7 years ago from Burlington Ontario Canada

Double standards are definitely at play in society. I however have chosen to ignore these false expectations of others and I wear that which pleases me. Don't look for me in a dress and heels at the office anytime soon(although I own both items a few times over).

I believe societal attitudes are changing. Thanks to the Internet and forums such as this one, a guy in a dress or lingerie for that matter is just not as shocking as it once was. Not all men who wear lingerie end up as cross dressers however, or want to be women. This will also be a great topic for the blog, and we will see what men have to say. How do you tell the difference between a man who wears lingerie, and a man who wants to be a full blown cross dresser and/or a woman?

The Men In Panties Blog

Tina 7 years ago

What does it matter, most men cant become a woman even if they want to, so why not accept them as female anyway, because that's what they crave. Cheap NFL Jerseys

madeleine 7 years ago from Takoma Park, Maryland

Amen! Women's lingerie is just damn sexzy period. And much more varied and interesting. I will admit to enjoying crossdressing at home and find it a turn on. Been "playing" with womens things since I was 8 or 9 and don't think I could ever stop. Women also have much greater variety in clothes and color, and wearing makeup.

It's only since I've been playing with more complete outfits have I discovered the POWER that women can possess in enhancing their (sexual) appearance and appeal. They have many more options than men do. cheap nfl jerseys china

Are Manchester United

Are Manchester United really better than Liverpool FC

Back in the game

The MEN said: One thing you can guarantee ahead of Sunday's game is that we're going to have to put up with a one sided analysis no matter what the result. You see, former Liverpool players dominate the UK punditry scene, and they're sure to be out in force again at Old Trafford. You might get the odd splash of Gary Neville on co commentary (also an England coach), but otherwise it'll be a face full of Jamies Carragher and Redknapp and Graeme Souness.

We say: That is true Jamie Redknapp, Jamie Carragher and Graeme Souness are former Liverpool players, and they are also prominent in the world of television punditry.

But that's because they are very good at what they do, and their thoughts on the game have been cultivated from careers under good managers playing good football. Carragher and Souness have won European Cups, after all.

There is also, of course, pundits like Dwight Yorke, Gary Pallister, Dion Dublin and Ray Wilkins, all who have played at Old Trafford.

Older and wiser wholesale jerseys

The MEN said: Age before beauty it's a mantra we should all live by. And, while Liverpool may have been easier on the eye so far this season, United at least deserve more respect because they are older! It's 136 years since Newton Heath LYR were founded by a group of railway workers, 14 years ahead of our friends over on Merseyside. In fact, their Anfield home was at that point being used by one Everton FC before a dispute over rent resulted in a split which saw Liverpool founded!

We say: We should always respect our elders something Liverpool probably should have adhered to when, in 1894, they effectively relegated Newton Heath with a 2 0 victory in a Test match. That result, which also sealed promotion for the Second Division champions, came just two years into the Merseyside club's existence.

And there is plenty to respect about Ryan Giggs, Robin van Persie, Rio Ferdinand and Michael Carrick all excellent players, but all over 30. cheap jerseys

Liverpool's front four, meanwhile, have an average age of 23. Age may come before beauty, but a lot of the Reds squad are both beautiful and young a devastating combination.

Good looking

Liverpool FC vs Arsenal FC at Anfield. Liverpool players Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho celebrate with scorer Daniel Sturridge

The MEN said: Of course in conceding that Brendan Rodgers' side have played more attractive football this season, we must emphasise the fact that 2013 14 bucks a trend over 50 years old. It is United who have long been known for a swashbuckling approach to the beautiful game, with the likes of George Best, Bobby Charlton and Cristiano Ronaldo ensuring Old Trafford was the place to go for aesthetes. By contrast, much of Liverpool's early success under Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley and more recently Rafael Benitez has been built on a sterile pass and move which has rarely caught the imagination.

We say: Pass and move is a lot of things, but it is difficult to deem it sterile.

That style of football which was implemented by Bill Shankly after watching Crvena Zveda outclass his side over two legs in the 1973/74 European Cup second round, 15 years after Shankly first arrived has served Liverpool well.

In 1978/79, they scored 85 goals in 42 games; in 1981/82, they bagged 80, then 87 the season after. They also scored 106 goals in the 1895/96 season in just 30 games.

And while George Best, Bobby Charlton and Cristiano Ronaldo are good players, Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush and Luis Suarez aren't bad either. Cheap NFL Jerseys

The best of Busby

The MEN said: There aren't many people who are thought of warmly by both Liverpool and United fans, but Sir Matt Busby is certainly one of them. The Scot held the captain's armband at the Merseyside club over the course of a four year stay during his playing days, but did not manage to claim a single trophy before the Second World War cut his career short. Strangely, the 13 trophies he went on to claim as Reds manager mean he isn't referenced too regularly by supporters at Anfield these days.

We say: It is only natural for Matt Busby to be revered by Manchester United fans after his excellent achievements at Old Trafford particularly in how he rebuilt the side, club and its community after the Munich Air Disaster to lift the European Cup 10 years later.

But the Liverpool ECHO serialised 'Matt Busby My Story' in 1957, 12 years after he became United manager, while the excellent LFCHistory website puts him with "the best [half back line] the club had in those three positions at any one time in its history".

Paisley also had kind words for his good friend, who he once paraded around the Wembley pitch with before the 1983 Charity Shield.

"There was the style with which his United teams played and the character of the man, shown at its greatest when he and the club fought back after the tragedy of Munich."

Trailblazers in Europe

Bob Paisley and Ian Callaghan celebrate winning the 1977 European Cup in Rome

The MEN said: We're sure to be reminded about the number of European Cups Liverpool have claimed when they turn up in Manchester on Sunday, but that they were simply following in United's footsteps is often conveniently forgotten. Breaking new ground is notoriously difficult, and that is just what Busby's team did in becoming the first English club to win the trophy by beating Benfica 4 1 at Wembley. It could be said that Liverpool were shown the way. cheap nfl jerseys china

We say: United were the first winners of the European Cup, and did so with a great win over Benfica. But less than 10 years later, they would be relegated from the top tier of English football something that would take years to recover from.

While they recovered, the Reds won four European Cups, dominating both home and abroad. If United paved the way for Liverpool, then Liverpool paved the way for Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, but also themselves to go on and become the best team in Europe.

Are little girls in bikinis inappropriate

Are little girls in bikinis inappropriate

My 7 year old daughter Maya just outgrew her Body Glove float suit, and she was a little apprehensive about having to swim without one. Cheap NFL Jerseys

they don make a float suit in your size, my dear, then maybe we should take that as a sign you need to learn how to swim once and for all! I told her. Her eyes grew big.

think, you get to wear a cute new bathing suit. She didn have to wear a swimsuit under the float suit but it gave her an ugly farmer tan. She smiled a big smile.

kind of bathing suit can I get, mama? she wondered, the day after we went swimming and she realized she could swim perfectly fine without the float suit. She was so proud of her accomplishment. cheap jerseys

don know. We find something cute. She used to have a nice swimsuit, but we are notorious swimsuit losers. I have a stack of non matching bikini bottoms and tankini tops because somehow they always get lost.

I found myself out shopping alone (a miracle in and of itself), and I decided to go ahead and pick a suit for her. It was a cute, athletic two piece bikini from OP. And it only cost $9. My daughter is right at the juncture where she is slim and straight up and down womanly curves yet. I figure, this will probably be the last time she can get away with wearing a bikini without attracting too much attention.

When I brought it home for her, she was so excited. She tried it on and on loved it. She ran over to her daddy to show him.

daddy! Now that I now how to swim, I can wear this new bathing suit! then I heard it. A father booming voice of disapproval.

plan on wearing that, Maya? yes. you can wear that when we swim at home or at your cousin house. But if we go to the beach, I think you should wear something else. was crushed. And I suddenly remember his Bikinis decree. kicking rocks

Her little downcast face said it all. Later, I cornered him in the kitchen.

is nothing wrong with that suit. The bottoms are practically shorts. The top is like a tanktop! She is fully covered up. Let her be. This might be her last bikini before she gets hips and boobs! I ranted.

mean you couldn find any nice one piece swimsuits, Denise? are at an impasse.

There were nice one piece swimsuits, sure. But she seven and blissfully free from body image issues. And the bikini is appropriate and provides plenty of coverage. She is going to run around, swim, be carefree, frolic in the sand, possibly get a sand pile in her bikini bottoms and be a little girl. That it. wholesale jerseys

Maya and Xixi, on a warm evening in Redondo Beach, Ca sometime in 2009.

My two daughters, their cousins and their cousins cousins, having a day at the pool but in reality looking just like a Body Glove photo shoot. but love the boy shorts little tanks. she hasn has a bikini since she was 6, becuase we been blessed with great hand me down swim suits, so we just go with what we been given, which are mainly tankini part of the issue for her is she super tall skinny, so a one piece that is long enough to for her torso is way too big for the rest of her body she looks ridiculous, the butt all sagging down such. and you know what for those gross people who are going to look at little girls they are going to be looking at them in a one piece or a 2 piece

Hmm a difficult topic. I can see having a problem with them. Then again I don think there anything SEXY or provocative about it. I think I still want my daughter to wear a one piece (or at least a tankini or something). We are a pale people LMAO and the more skin covered the better Not many people in my family tan. So that one important reason for me to ban bikinis. Another thing is what the purpose of one if not to skin It doesn have a practical purpose, so it makes me a little uncomfortable to allow ones that aren more conservative (like tankinis). I wouldn blame other parents for allowing them though. I think it just a personal parenting decision.

When hubby has something he feels strongly about I try to support him so he will then support me. So it isn about the bathing suit, its about being a team. Eventually everything will be a battle in the teen years and when that time comes it is good for both parents to be in the same corner. I see too many dads that have been side lined enough times that it ends up mom in one corner, child in the other and dad is off somewhere else. That or all three have their own corners or God forbid, mom and daughter in one corner and dad in the other. That would be awful as I imagine my hubby undermining me as a parent. That would suck.

So in my opinion which is all it is, just my opinion, it is just a bathing suit, but mutually respecting and supporting spouses that is really what it comes down too.

My kids swim in board shorts and rashguard tops. It nice because all the kids can share suits. We are a pale pale pale family, so sun exposure is a definite danger, but I also want my kids to be used to being covered up. I would rather just be consistent. No bikinis. That way I never have to have the had one last year! Why not this year? talk. I don want to have to explain to my 8 year old that some men look at little girls in an inappropriate way. I want them to dress modestly at all times. Even at the beach.

My girls wear two piece suits, one piece suits, etc. At this age I just buy suits that are on sale, because we go to the pool most days and swimsuits just do not last when they are constantly exposed to chlorine and sunshine.

Again, it is one of those issues that I would NEVER consider a suit is a suit, there is nothing sexual about it.

As someone said above, people that are going to look at little girls bodies are going to look no matter what. And frankly, a few of the two piece suits taht we have at our hosue have MORE cover up than the one piece suits they have frills over the chest area, whereas the one piece is just straight up and down with nothing the chest area.

My dad didn like them either, because he thought they sort of look like underwear (especially white swimsuits. why do they even offer them in that color?). I don think your girls suits look inappropriate, though I would say no if they were the kind that tie on (definitely bad, espcecially if they aren tight enough for the waves at the beach). My mom managed to steer us away from them by putting us in swim team suits speedo kind that are a one piece with the racer back so they stay in place, and she cautioned us with tales of grown women who swimsuits came loose in the rough and tumble of the surf. The water logged suit is somehow a whole size bigger, and I even seen boys almost lose their shorts if the elastic wasn tight enough. They used those reasons (looks like underwear, hard to keep on) to steer us away from anything too grown up, because they wanted to keep it from being a negative about us or our bodies, and didn want us to feel uneasy about who might be looking at us.

Maybe you can get a longer tankini top to go with the bottoms? Then you have a happy medium.

Even though we having a boy, I already expressed that I did not want my daughter to wear a bikini. If she were to wear a two piece, it would be a rash guard and a pair of board shorts. Why? I on the whole modesty thing as well. I do have a bikini; but I wear board shorts and a rash guard over it as well.

But I seen both sides of the coin when it comes to little girls wearing bikinis. I seen the ones who could care less and sit there and dump sand down the bottoms because where else would you dump sand when the bucket is full? And I seen little girls in bikinis walking around shaking their tiny tushies because you can tell that they feel grown up wearing what mommy and all the older women are wearing and so they pose and primp and dance as if they 10 12 years older than they really are. It just depends on the child and the parent. But I think, if my husband issued a bikinis policy, I would follow it. cheap nfl jerseys china

Sorry, a bikini is not for kids. For better or worse, the bikini is tied to sexuality and it just isn appropriate. Honestly, seeing a kid in a bikini is just as bad as seeing them done up in those horrid pagent getups hair, more makeup than Tammy Fae, fake teeth shudder. Kids should look (and dress) like kids. Not like adults trying to flaunt and draw attention to their bodies. Just because she doesn have curves yet doesn change the intention of the bikini sole purpose is to show off the body, and that something I just don agree with.
