resignation progress

I haven't written in my diary for days because things have been so busy lately.

Let me summarize what happened over the past few days.

October 17

I went cycling with Xixi. I'd given her my old bike, so we rode together.

October 18

I had a piano lesson and played a simplified version of Ode to Joy. It was so cheerful! I can play some classical music now!

Over the next two days, I practiced a lot to get ready for my next lesson tonight, on October 21.

October 19

The boss interviewed someone for the job. That was quick! I heard that the candidate had called on Sunday, just one day after I handed in my resignation.

This makes me realize that the reason we've been short-staffed for so long is probably that the boss never really wanted to hire anyone. He could hire someone whenever he wanted to.

October 20

I heard that the candidate would be joining us next week.

So, so fast! I guess I won't have to wait too long before I can leave!

Is today a Japanese public holiday? It's so quiet.

I reviewed my reimbursement documents from August, printed out the receipts, and wrote everything down. What a lot of work!

Tonight, I went swimming.

Swimming has become a once-a-month activity for me, but I'd like to go more often.

I stretched before getting into the water and kept up my usual swimming routine.

Since I hadn't been swimming for a long time, I felt a slight cramp when I first got into the water. But as I slowly swam, the cramp eased.

After swimming, I walked around in the water for five minutes because I'd heard that it could help me relax. Then I took a warm shower.

There were several other facilities besides the swimming pool: a 40°C hot pool, a 60°C steam room, an ice bath, massage jets, and a children's pool with a water slide.

The 40°C pool was too hot for me, so I just sat by the pool, rinsed my feet in the water, and poured some warm water over my thighs. That was enough for me.

I bought some grapes on my way home and ate them.

I have this little habit when eating grapes: I put them just out of reach, so I have to sit up a little whenever I want one. It's not tiring at all, but it's surprisingly effective. The last time I did this, my abs felt sore for about a day afterward.

A long day

I've been nervous since last night because my English isn't very good. It's weird.

This morning, I was thinking in English while I was riding my bike to work. Then I sat down and wrote a diary in English, and now I'm typing in English. Writing is different from typing. Maybe the words that come through a pen and the words that come through a keyboard are different too.

I had a very good schedule last night. First, I practiced Excel. Then I checked some second-hand bikes and made an appointment to see one on Sunday. But maybe the bike will have been sold before I get there.

After that, I played some games and practiced the piano for 20 minutes. Then I took a shower, got ready for bed, and went to sleep without using my smartphone anymore.

I briefly opened my eyes at around 4:30 a.m., but I went back to sleep and finally woke up at 6:14. I slept for a long time and slept really well.

I want to keep following this schedule until it becomes a routine.

Today, I'm at another factory — not the one I work for, but one that we place orders with.

I'm here to stand by during the AQL inspection. I'm not conducting the inspection myself. I'm responsible for handling any issues that might come up, so I can communicate with the customer and help make sure the inspection goes smoothly.

Tenses are quite difficult for me. Japanese has the same problem. Why is Chinese so simple? Haha! Well, I guess it's not so simple for foreigners learning Chinese!

I started learning English when I was 12, in junior high school, and continued until I finished high school. So, I studied English for six years in total. I hardly learned anything in college.

I've kept up the habit of watching English-language dramas and listening to English songs, and I can sing some of them. So I think I've had enough exposure to spoken English, and I feel like I can speak it fairly well.

Speaking of speaking, I tend to mix American and British accents. I can't really tell the difference between them.

This afternoon, I came back to my factory. I didn't get a good nap at noon, and now it's 3 p.m. I have a really bad headache, and I'm feeling very sleepy. I can't think clearly.

I think it would be better to sneak back to my room and get some sleep.

I sneaked back to my dorm and took a 30-minute nap. I just pretended I needed to grab something and casually walked out of the office. No one noticed. I feel better now, but I'm still not feeling my best.

Watching my boss work so energetically, I can't help feeling that there's a gap between us.

Today, I didn't work overtime. I bought four white cloud mountain minnows and put them in my fish tank.

Then I came home and opened a package of Love and Deepspace merchandise. It included a bowl, a plate, chopsticks, a spoon, it's a dining set.

I really love these useful little things. They make my everyday life feel more connected to the character I love. They make me happy, and I feel much better now.

Work is toxic. Getting away from work makes me happy.

I wonder why I was so nervous about writing in English this morning. Perhaps it's because I haven't used English for such a long time. Today, I finally started picking up my old love for English again — or maybe I should say, rebuilding my confidence.

Whatever I write, there's a chatty that understands me.
