その歌唱力の高さは幼少期から高く評価され、
アメリカで歌手としてデビューし楽曲提供、女優としても活動したが
その結果は振るわず・・・

オーストラリアに帰国後も歌手として活動していたが
こちらでも徐々にフェードアウトしていった。
その後、サミーの父親の工場で事務として働いていた。

2012年、Xファクター・オーストラリアに出場し、見事優勝。
オーストラリアで再デビューへとなった。

私がサミーについて知ったのは、Xファクター出場中の事でした。
Xファクターの出場者は、全員レベルが高く(すでにプロとして出来上がってる感じ)、
どの人が優勝してもおかしくないという雰囲気でした

そんな中、リアーナ、ホイットニー、ケイティペリーの楽曲で戦い抜き、一時は視聴者投票で最下位(確か)になるも素晴らしい巻き返しで、優勝時にはアッシャーのSCREAMでみんなを虜にしました。オーディション時のコメントタイムでの印象ですが、彼女はいつもとても素直で謙虚な姿勢でそれもまた視聴者からの票を得られた点でもあると思います。

体が小さくて細くて、
高音の可愛い声でありながら力強い歌声、
それに加えていつも可愛い衣装で本当に大好きです
