Summer is coming!

I haven't been at LeafCup for a long time now. School will be over in a few weeks, so I'm looking forward to vacation! I don't have much time before I ｈａｖｅ to go back to school, but I think a year in Japan more than makes up for that right? Buying a plane ticket, on the other hand, I am NOT looking forward to. Anyone have any advice on where to get cheap plane tickets?

Also, I finally have pictures from Second Harvest Japan!

My lesson starts soon, so I'll go back and post them later.
Volunteer Work in Japan

I haven't had the opportunity to do any volunteer work since I've been living in Tokyo, but this weekend will be my first time (-^□^-)

Do you know the organization Second Harvest Japan? On Saturdays, they cook and distribute food to homeless people in Ueno Park. If you've ever walked through there on almost any given afternoon, you see a lot of homeless people living on benches or in the forested areas. This is an important social problem in Japan, so I'm curious as to how organizations here approach it.

I won't be distributing food this weekend since there are already too many people signed up for it, but I'll be at the SHJ warehouse helping to prepare the ingredients and to help cook. I'll tell you how it goes next time (o^-')b

Lots of traveling

Recently, I returned to Tokyo after a long break. In February, I was able to travel to Hokkaido to see the Sapporo Snow Festival. In North Carolina, we don't get much snow unless you live in the mountains, so I was surprised to see snow everywhere. The snow sculptures were impressive, and it was fun to keep track of how many times you slip on the ice.

I was also able to go back to the United States for a month. I really miss my friends and family back home, so it was nice to be able to see them after so long. Another thing I really miss is home-cooked Vietnamese food, but I think I ate enough when I went back home. Diet season is soon approaching ...
