You MUST always ask permission! But in the end, they will not answer 'Yes" instead "Probably, No!". Is it up until now the decision is still from your commanders and superiors? Your only response is... you will go to your room, lock the door, and lie down in your bed all day. When someone disturbs you and break your silence that day, you'll say "I don't want to eat!" or "I don't want to talk with somebody!" www funny childish ways. Note: It's very important that parents and their child will have a time to open up in each other (to prevent this bitter scenarios). Parents must be open-minded in taking some opinions from her son/daughter as would their child also do to their parents. A give and take relationship!
