こんにちは！
お久しぶりです。

たぶん、３年ぶりの投稿かな？

さて、ここに色々英語で書いたりとかなんとかやっていましたが、
それは３年前のわたしが受験生だった時の話。

今までの経緯をざっとのせます。

まず、AOで早稲田大学国際教養学部に合格しました。

そして、早稲田では色々と不真面目な学生が多い中勉強がんばりました。

その結果、今はロンドン大学（UCL）に一年、交換留学生として留学しています。
今は大学２年生です。

ちなみにUCL (University College London）は、今世界で３番目か４番目にトップ！と言われるぐらいの大学（私が行っている学部は政治系なので、たぶんそこまでずば抜けてはないと思われます！笑）なので、勉強はもちろんとても大変です。

でも毎日ロンドンでひとりぐらし頑張っています！＾＾

大学生活、エンジョイしてます！

ということで、今の生活（もう来てから２ヶ月）のことについてブログを書いているので、そちらのリンク載せますね！＾＾

もうこのブログはほぼ３年間放置だったので、もうこの文章よんでくれている人がいるかどうかもわかりませんが・・・・

何かの参考になれば嬉しいです。＾＾

ではでは！このブログはこのままで、自分の財産なので、あと１０年後にでも笑いながら色々思い返して読もうと思います。＾＾

スマホと社会 Smartphones and its impact on society

スマホことスマートフォンはもうどこでも見かけるすっかり普及したものになりましたねー。
学校行く途中、電車の中で四方をいつもスマホを持った人に囲まれます。
電車の中では新聞を持つ人も最近あまり見かけなくなりました。
そのかわりに、みんなスマホで読んでるのかな。
Smartphones, which is more familiar to us as 'Smaho',
has become so prevalent that I see them no matter when and where nowadays.
On my way to school, I always get surrounded by people with Smartphones in their hands.
Also I hardly see anyone with newpapers in the train these days...
I suppose they read them on the portables.

私もスマホじゃないけど、iPod Touchでいろいろやります。
けど最近大変なのが、本当に目がおかしくなってきたこと。
疲れ目+ドライアイ+くま。。
女子高生なのに、ふけちゃう！
それで今日はできるだけスクリーン見ない日っていう風に決めたら・・・
とりあえず、まぶたの痙攣はなくなった！
I myself use not smartphones but iPod Touch quite frequently,
but the problem is, that it's starting to do some harm to my eyes.
tired eyes, dry eyes, and the dark circle around my eyes
(I dont know if Im using correct English here :P not checkin)
Damn those are not something for a high school girlie!
makes me look older.
But I decided today I wasn't going to look at screen as much as possible, annd
well my eyelids are not twitching anymore =)

今は最大に画面暗くして、またいろいろ考えながらThe Japan Timesの記事読んでた。。
内閣不信任決議、どーなるんだろ。。
これは楽観的な考えなんだろうけど、もっとみんな協力すればいいのに・・・。
とかいって、やっぱり私が給料もらい始めるころに消費税アップは、
うーん。
いや。。笑

I turned down the brightness of the screen to the darkest and was reading The Japan Times articles just now.
I wonder what they are going to do with that no-confidence motion against the Cabinet thing.
I'm pretty ignorant about this so I should sound really optimistic, but I really want them to cooperate more rather than just criticizing each other...
But still, that they are raising the consumer taxes just by the time when I get my first salary is....
humm.
Not nice.

今日はそんなスマホの影響について考えますー。
Anyways, back to the main topic!
Today, I am going to write my opinionns on the usage of smartphones!

ってこれは、さっきまでの予定。
また目がおかしくなった。
ちょっと疲れたからやっぱ今日は寝ようかな。。
And well, this was what I had planned.
My eyes are twitching again...
I'm really tired today, so I think I should go sleep today.

今日は一日塾に行って、ごはんのときだけ
家に帰って、結局３往復もしたっていう！笑
今日は、けど科学と精神性についてのインドの大学教授の論文
にであった！久しぶりにいいの見つけた！
結構簡単な英語だったから、読みやすかったよ＾＾
I had been in my cram school the whole day today,
except for the lunch and dinner =)
So I actually 'shuttled' 3 times in total. =P
But I found this really good thesis of one Indian Professor,
taking about science and spirituality.
It was written in relatively simple English,
so it wasnt that hard to read. ;)

スマホのなんちゃらは明日でも書くかーーー。
I guess I'm gonna write smartphone matter tomoro, hopefully.

Sorry if someone actually came to read this to find out
information on smartphone effects,
but I promise I won't let u down that hard....lol
I will write about that defintiely later,
since that topic is something I'm really interested in as well.

You know what I realized,

I suck at cleaning.

......that's basically it.

but it's got some really good points as well you know.
easy access to any materials you need within a second ...actually, a minute.

上智と早稲田　国際教養　オープンキャンパス比較

上智と早稲田のオープンキャンパス、２日間連続でいってきたー！
やっぱ２日連チャンは疲れる！っていうのがまず思ったこと。笑
特にこんだけじめじめした暑い天気だとねー。

えっと、
国際教養学部しかどちらも見てないけど、自分の中でざっと比較してみましたー

I went to SOPHIA University and Waseda University for the open campus 2012 respectively in two days.
And my first impression was... guys, it's not really a good idea to visit those famous univerisities full of people two days in a row. lol
It was really tiring... especially given this freakin sticky weather!

Anyways, I compared these two faculties, which may share pretty much in common.

----------------------------------------------------

（上智）FLA

１、すでに英語できてそうな帰国子女が多い！
　　日本人の顔してても、友達同士や親と英語で会話してる姿がよく見られた。

２、少人数でアットホーム、みんなと仲良くなれそうな雰囲気。

３、フレンドリーな人が多そう！（ほかの学部は特に！）

４、リベラルだけど、メジャーの分野決定をしなきゃいけない。

５、施設はまぁちょっと古いけど、落ち着く。

1, I have seen many Japanese people taking to their friends and families in English.
    They may already have mastered English or even they speak better in English than Japanese.

2, The atmosphere was really warm - very 'at-home' and comfortable. I felt I could make friends with most of the people in the faculty.

3, Many people seemed really friendly! (I felt this stronger especially in other faculties)

4, Its policy is to be liberal, and while it may be true, you still have to make a choice for your major.

5, The facility was a bit old in some parts, but it was really relaxing.

（早稲田） SILS

１、純ジャパが大半!？でもないだろうけど、あまり外国人の人たちは見なかった。

２、とにかく人数が多い！だからいろいろな人たちと出会えそう。

３、いい見本がたくさんいそうな反面、みんなが流暢に英語を話せる
　　わけではなさそうなので、両極端にわかれる可能性あり？
　　とは言っても、自分次第でどうにでもなるんだろーな。

４、リベラルだし、カリキュラムも本当にリベラルそう！
　　メジャー専攻は１年次では行わず、７つのクラスターの中から好きに選んで、
　　文字通り幅広く学べそう！

５、施設は、古いとこもあるけど、全部大きい。全体的に明るい？

1. I had a feeling most of the people there were 'pure' Japanese! I didn't really see foreigners much.

2. Just too many people. But enough to broaden the chance of meeting people with different backgrounds.

3. While there will be many 'role models', it didn't really seem everyone was able to speak English fluently, so there may be two separate groups forming.
   But yeah I guess it really depends on you.

4. It really seems that it lives up to its concept of being liberal!
   You don't have to decide your major in the first year, and you get to choose from among 7 clusters of studies, which is really attractive to me as I will literally get to learn from various aspects.

5. As for the facilities, well, despite some old buildings, all was huge, and very light-filled in my opinion.

さてさてー。
どっちにもいいところと、あまり私が好きじゃないかなって思ったところがあったけど、
共通して言えるのは、行ってよかったーーってこと
やっぱり、どんだけ資料読んでも、ネットで検索してみんなの感想読んでも、
自分が一目見た印象っていうのは、本当に何にも勝るんだなーって改めて実感した。
特に、わたしの場合はどっちがどうっていう判断材料がなくて、すごく困ってて、
けど今回でやっと納得いくのがみつかった感じ。

Anywaaays,
I can say that I saw both good points and something I'm not that fond of in these two univerisities.
But all in all, what I can say to both is that it was definitely worth visiting and see them with my own eyes.
I strongly felt that what you've seen with your eyes and those fresh impressions that you felt outweighs any of what you may read on the Internet.
Especially for someone like me who was having trouble deciding which university\is what, it really was of a great help.
I finally found something that convinces me.

For now, I am thinking of going to SILS again.

Anyways, I have a pre-test tomorrow at cram school, which sucks soooo much, and so I guess it's tome to get this lazy ass down to work.

And last but not least, good news...
My typing skills are improving!!!Yaaay!
... Well if I'm allowed to say so much wish, it should have been up to this level before taking iBT TOEFL exams.... oh well.

死刑の是非　Should it be abolished?

AO試験の過去問で、死刑の是非について問われる問題がありました。
いろいろな資料とかもみてみたのですが、とても難しい問題ですね。
ちょっと考えてみますか・・・。

There was an essay question to do with whether the capital punishment (dealth penalty) should be abolished in Japan or not. I did some research about it but... well it's such a hard question.
But let me do this....

死刑が廃止されるべきかについて、
賛成派、つまり廃止されるべきだという人たちの意見としては、

The opinions for those who support the statement, those who argues that the dealth penalty should be abolished say:

１、死刑の恐怖により、殺人が減る
　Threat of the death penalty setves as a deterrent for future murder
　死刑がなくなれば、凶悪犯罪や殺人の数も増えるという考え。
　If the threat of death penalty disappears, there will be an increase in homicide rate.

２、犠牲者が死を免れることができなかったのに、犯罪者が死を逃れることができるのは不平等である。それは正義ではない。
That criminals are given a chance to escape the death while the victims never had a chance to do so is totally unfair. The victims never receive a full measure of justice.

３、死刑囚には遺書を書いたり、死への準備時間まで与えられるのに、犠牲者にはそんなことはない。それなのに法律はその犯罪者を人権の名のもとに守ろうとする。犯罪法が、犠牲者とその家族か死刑囚か、どちらの立場を守るべきなのか考える必要がある。
A criminal on the death row even has a chance to make his will and prepare for death while the victims can never do it. All the same, the criminal laws even protect the criminal in the name of his constitutional rights. We must ask ourselves which actions serves the true humanitarian justice: to protect the murderer or the victim and his family.
　
４、目には目を、歯には歯を
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth

５、殺人者が社会復帰することは、危険であり新たな凶悪犯罪につながる可能性がある
It takes lots of risk to let the murderers return to the society and he may cause another violent crime.

うーん３番がだいぶ難しかった！日本語にも英語にも上手にできなくて時間かかった。
でもざっとこんな感じですかー
Damn the second one was really hard! It took me so much effort and time putting my thoughts into words. But yeah I guess I'm done.
では次は死刑反対派の意見です。
Now we'll move on to the arguments against the death penalty.

１、死刑は加害者の更生、社会復帰を阻害する
　The death penalty fails to rehabilitate the assailant.
これは、大体の殺人は加害者が論理的思考を失っているときにおこるため、訓練すれば安全に変わってしっかり社会復帰できるという考えです。
The murders mostly take place when one cannot think rationally and therefore he can be rehabilitated and return back to the society given certain trainings and lessons.

２、冤罪の可能性
Possibility of false accusation　
冤罪で死刑になったら取り返しがつかないし、それは国家による殺人である。
When conviction of the innocent occurs, it is a murder by the nation and nothing can be done to revoke the innocent.

３、過去の死は新たな死で償えない
The victim is already dead, and nothing would be accomplished by killing anohter.

４、一生牢屋の終身刑のほうがよい解決策
To imprisons the killer in jail for his entire life would be a better solution as an alternative.
　死刑囚を殺すのではなく、損害賠償を一生被害者の家族へ払うのが正しい償い方である。
It is a better option to put the criminal to work instead of putting him to death, and make all the money he makes go to the family of the victim.

とっても難しい問題ですね。
英語や日本語にするのも難しいですけど。笑
英語で読んだことも日本語で読んだこともあるので、どちらも中途半端で・・・
どう思いますか？
This is such a difficult issue.
Not to mention putting them into English and Japanese in my head. lol
Since I have read about this matter in both language, I only know partially and by halves.
But what do you think??

個人的に、私は死刑はあったほうがよいと思います。
犠牲者は突然何の予告もなく死をもたらされるのに、
加害者は死の恐怖から逃れられるというのが納得できません。
もちろん、殺されるだけの理由があったとしても、です。
しかも、死刑までは長い道のりだし、冤罪は起こってもそれが
死刑廃止にまでつながるほどひどく頻繁にはないと思います。
あとは、私の少ないお小遣いからも、終身刑になった犯罪者へ
食糧代からあたたかいベッド代まで払うのは、いやです。
世界では無実な子供が貧困で苦しんでいるのに・・・。

In my opinion, I don't think the dealth penalty should be abolished.
It's really not fair that the killer gets to escape the dreadful death while victim doesn't even receive any advance notice of death or anything, he is killed on the spot all the sudden.
Even when the killer did have enough reason and the victim did deserved it.
Also, the false accusation doesn't take place often, not often enough to eventually lead to the abolition of the capital punishment.
Another reason why is because I dislike paying from even my little pocket money for the criminal's food, shelter and his warm bed.
A fortiori, knowing there are many innocent children suffering from poverty....

まあ、これが大体の私の立場かな。
けどこういう風に考えるのは、自分が実際にそんな凶悪事件にも巻き込まれたことがなくて、どこか遠いところの話のような気がしているからなんだろーな。
Well so that's basically my standpoint.
But I'm sure I can say this becuase I myself have never been involved in such serious crimes, and I feel it's still a story of somewhere else unrelated to me.

もちろん、なくていいんだけど！笑
And of course, I don't want any thank you! lol

あと加害者、犯罪者、死刑囚という日本語と、
Assailant, murderer, killer, criminal,
よくわかんなくていろいろ使ったけど特に深い意味
はないです。
ただ、犠牲者の反対語っていうだけです笑
ほかにも表現あるのかな・・・

And I used diffrent words in terms of explaining the 'criminal' but their synonyms are just for my vocabs and they don't mean anything special. They are just the opposite of victim. :P
I wonder what other synonyms there are...

Hmm... I guess these are not exactly what I wanted since it seems they are more of the synonyms for bandits. I guess I'll try to google 'murderer' instead of 'criminal' then.

英語と日本語でいきます！
ちょっと今のインターネットの使い方でもよく取り上げられるものについて考えてみました。

Okay I'm gonna write both in English and Japanese today!
I was thinking of one of the hot topics today among our usage of the Internet.

ソーシャルネットワーキングサービスこと、SNSは、私もFacebook, mixiなど
今はほとんどやってないに等しいけど大体やりました！
私が日本に２年ちょい前帰ってきたときはまだ私の周りで帰国子女以外はやってなかったけど、今は日本でもFacebookはどんどん普及してきてるねー

Social Networking Service, or what we call SNS in short, is something I have been doing even though I hardly go online these days.
When I came back to Japan about 2years and some months ago, no one except the 'returnees' were doing Facebook, but nowadays it's becoming more prevalent in Japan I guess.

個人的に楽しいことは、
　１、学校で会う友達とメッセージできて便利
　２、自分の撮った写真をシェアできるし、コメントとかもらえる
　　　（Facebookの「いいね！」ボタンはあんま好きじゃないけど）
　３、昔の友達や先生に会えてうれしい
って感じかなー

Personally, I find it fun:
1, Being able to message my friends instantly
2, Sharing my pics with others and receiving comments and whatnot
(Though I dislike the 'Like' button on Facebook)
3, Finding old friends or my former teachers there

そして、最近・・でもないけど、気づいたいやなこと！
　１、実はやってることが自分のアップデートよりストーカーちっくなほうが多い
　２、時間がどんどん過ぎていくのに後に何も残らない
　３、なぜか、さみしくなる
　４、勉強代わりにすればよかったって後悔することが多い
　５、これに気づいてむなしくなる

And these are what I have recently...well maybe not but leave it... realized I dislike:
1. In fact, what I do is not updating myself but more of stalking what others are doing
2. Time just flies when I'm online and yet nothing good remains.
3. Somehow I feel lonely
4. I often regret that I could have studied instead of wasting my precious time
5. I realize these and feel empty

なんでだろうねー。
SNSの役割っていうのが、人と人とを結びつけるっていうのが
本来の目的だし、そうあるべきなんだろうけど
現実はみんなもこうなってるんじゃないかなーって思います。
実はそこが落とし穴なんだろうね！

I don't exactly know why this happens, but I think while the purpose of the SNS is to connect people, and that is exactly how it should be, the reality is different from it.
But I still believe that this could be what everyone is doing as well.
Be careful... That's where its dark side lies!

いずれにしろ、
使われないこと、自分で考えて使うこと、それが大事だと思います。
機械は人間が発明したもの。人間が技術をもってそれを使わなければいけない。
テクノロジーに振り回されないこと、やっぱり一度自分をしっかりみつめることが大事だと強く思います。

In any case, remember that it is you to use the machine, not the other way round.
The machine is invented by humans, and thus we have to use it wisely.
Never let the technology use you. I strongly believe we should reflect ourselves again and think carefully about this matter.

ずーっと書いてなかった！わたしにブログは向いてないのかも。。

今はずっと大学の志願理由書がんばってます。
でもなかなかちゃんと整理して書けず、奮闘！してるとこです。

やっぱり日本の教育に携わりたいっていうのが、
海外と日本、両方の教育を受けたあと
強く思うこと。

日本は本当に将来使えるような技術をつける
生徒に自主的に考えさせる教育をしてないんだって
本気で実感した。
特に中学、高校。

悲しいのが中学から高校受験のときに
大体の子が思うことが、
「高校に行ったら遊べる｝

それが高校から大学受験をするときには
「大学にいけば楽しいことが待ってる」

私は、もともと勉強はやり方、気もちの持ち方次第で
楽しみをいつも見つけてきたほうだから、
いつも勉強するときに私が思うことは、
「自分を高める」
っていうことだった。

今も志願理由書や、AO対策は
大変だし、正直言ってすごくいやだけど
大学に入ってしっかり学問するためには
これ以上のスキルが求められていることを
考えれば、やって当たり前のことなんだろうなって思う。

・・・といって、自分に言い聞かせて、
またやる気になったところで勉強しますか。

AO対策としては、
今までの過去問をみて、
聞かれそうなトピック・・・たとえば
Language, Gender, Comparative culture, Psychology, Education, Jury system, Death Penalty....
などなど。。

それに関して自分でネットや本を借りて、
積極的にいろいろな意見や見方に触れています。

受かりますよーに！！！
