Fantasy

These days I've been talking to a friend of mine who's doing a project about people's necessity to fantasize. We live in a society wich values racional thinking and pure logical more than anything else and yet, as far as we know, the human being is the only creature who's capable of fantasizing and let's be honest, we need it. While we were talking I remembered a dialogue from the AWESOME movie "Harvey", for those who don't know, this movie tells the story of Elwood P. Dowd, a mild-mannered, pleasant man, who just happens (he says) to have an invisible friend resembling a 6-foot rabbit. The dialogue goes like this;

"Harvey and I sit in the bars... have a drink or two... play the juke box. And soon the faces of all the other people they turn toward mine and they smile. And they're saying, "We don't know your name, mister, but you're a very nice fella." Harvey and I warm ourselves in all these golden moments. We've entered as strangers - soon we have friends. And they come over... and they sit with us... and they drink with us... and they talk to us. They tell about the big terrible things they've done and the big wonderful things they'll do. Their hopes, and their regrets, and their loves, and their hates. All very large, because nobody ever brings anything small into a bar. Maybe in this harsh society of ours we envy those who dare to dream...

Audrey's belongings on auction

The auction already ended so my post is pretty late...But It's truth! Some of Audrey Hepburn's dresses, hats and letters went to auction on "Kerry Taylor Auctions". According to Karry Taylor's site, "50% of the net sale proceeds of these lots will be donated go to The Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund and Unicef for their joint venture 'All Children in School' which aims to provide 115,000,000 children worldwide, not currently in school with a basic education." Ins't it amazing? (*^▽^*) What I admire the most in Audrey Hepburn is that she was able to use her fame in such a positive way! By joining the UNICEF missions she attracted a lot of attention to their cause, donating the money of this auction will be amazing, even after death we can make a difference I guess (^-^)

To those who want to check out Audrey's lots, they are here , starting at 283 untill the last one. There are some dresses she wore in movies such as "Paris when it sizzles" (324) and "Love in the Afternoon" (332). There's even a bride's dress made for her marriage to James (later Lord) Hanson in 1952, wich never really took place.This dress has an amazing story you can check on the site, it's the lot 333!

I simply adore Audrey's "simple and elegant" style! Some of the dresses on auctionare to die for!

Talking about her, There's a beautiful poem ,"Time Tested Beauty Tips" by Sam Levenson wich she read to her children on her last Christmas eve. The same poem was read in her funeral, if we think about her "Icon Style" status wich remains untill now I think the poem is really apropriated.

Happy 2010 everyone!

Gosh, 2010 already! Time passes so fast!
I think that whenever "new year" arrives we can't help but making a retrospective of the past years, Maybe that's why I've been looking at so many old pictures! And whenever I look at them the first thing I think is "Oh, it was so good back then!", then I start to remember how things really were at that time and get to the conclusion that it wans't all wine and roses. It remembers me of the song;

"...Can it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time re-written every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we? Could we?
Memories, may be beautiful and yet
What’s too painful to remember

Cleopatra is such a fascinating historical figure! Her life was so amazing that even Shakespear wrote a tragedy about it, and of course, Lots of movies were made about the queen of the Nile. Through the history of cinema, Ceopatra was portrayed as a beautiful and smart woman, in fact beauty is often linked to her after all she seduced the most important men of her time. Some of the most beautiful actresses of all time played her role

Claudett Colbert in one of the first movies about Cleopatra (not THAT pretty, but still, one of the firsts...wait for the next ones lol)

Elizabeth Taylor in the most well known movie about the queen (maybe because she had an affair with the actor playing Mark Antony, pretty ironic (￣▽+￣*)

I personally disagree with somethings on the list, but it's a "beauty
ranking", and beauty ,I think, is really a question of personal taste. Of
course there are the media patterns wich OBVIOUSLY does have influence upon us, but unless you're a playboy bunny aspirant, people tendo to have personal and
unique preferences. If you're are a playboy bunny aspirant is just a matter of
bleach blonde + big boobs. Anyway...
In my personal opinion Rita Hayworth should be on the list too, come on, there
never was a woman like Gilda! lol Vivien leigh should be much higher and I
would take half of the list off too, but anyway...ヽ(ﾟ◇ﾟ )ﾉ

Today I was watching "Glee" and they sung "Maybe this time" from the musical
"Cabaret" with Liza Minelli. Thay had a special guest this episode, none the
less than Kristin Chenoweth, Wicked's Glinda!
She sang "Maybe this time" with the actress who plays Rachel ( well, not quite
with her, but anyway...lol) It was amaaaaaaazing!!! I absolutely adore musicals
so I liked "Glee" a lot, the show is really funny and their reinterpretation of musics are pretty good! sometimes even better than the originals! ( like the
rehab song,wich I hate btw (ﾉ´▽｀)ﾉ )
To be honest most of the musics they pick are from artists i really hate, like
beyouce, but the episodes are funnny eitherway ♪(*^ ・^) In fact, the episode
featuring Beyounce's song was THE most funny of all!!! gotta love kurt (^｡^)
