Pride and Prejudice.☆

Because this week was reading week, I had a lot of time to myself.
I decided that I didn't want to stay in my room for a whole week, so I looked for something to do.
I ended up getting a ticket to see a local performance of Pride and Prejudice.☆
I've read the novel and have seen the latest movie, so I'm quite fond of the story.

Overall I was quite pleased with it. I didn't like their choice of actors for Mr. Darcy or Mr. Collins, but I suppose it's all a matter of personal taste. The costumes were very well made, simple but accurate. There was one dress worn by Anne de Bourgh that looked quite adorable. I would have liked to have worn it myself.☆
The play lasted a total of 3 hours.
I was sitting in the front row, so I had to look up the entire time. My neck is a bit sore but it's nothing.

Tomorrow is my last day of reading week, until classes resume again. At that point I'll have many things to read and write...
Today has been a long day for me, so I think I'll go to bed early today.

Nothing New.

It's been a while since I posted here.
The reason is partly because I just haven't felt the desire to write anything, and partly because nothing has really happened.

Just the other day, I saw my first robin of the year, which is a sign that spring is on its way.
But then, last night and this morning, this happened...

I'm not quite sure how much snow we got, we were supposed to get 15cm, but it looks like less than that. The entire southern area of the province was hit with this system.
Looking at all of this snow makes me feel trapped and miserable...
I hope this snow melts quickly, so I can hopefully be in a good mood again.

Yesterday, I took the bus to the Bulk Barn, and I bought some of my favourite candy.☆

Pop Rocks! They're carbonated so they pop in your mouth. They always bring back memories for me, so I buy Pop Rocks when I can.

The other day, I received a parcel from my aunt up north. She sent me cookies, a pattern for some cuffs to knit, and an adorable day planner.☆

It has lots of pictures of sleeping kittens, it's really cute.
A Good Day.☆

I'm about to head off to bed.
But before I do that, I'd like to write about my day, because it was very special.☆

First of all, today was the birthday of Sui-san, the vocalist of Megaromania. Happy birthday!

I managed to get all of my work done, so I'm prepared for tomorrow's class. My partner and I will be leading a seminar discussion about the Russian Revolution. ^-^

I made a new friend today as well. ^-^
Her name is Natsumi. She's an exchange student from Japan who's been studying here at the university.
She's a member of the Anime Society, like I am. We talked about Hetalia, and I discovered a new genre of manga.☆
She's very nice and helpful.☆ She wants to improve her English communication skills, so I want to do my best to help her in any way I can!

This afternoon, I received a parcel in the mail from my dad.☆
I wasn't expecting it to arrive until Wednesday, so it was a wonderful surprise.
What was even more surprising was what was inside. I wasn't told what he was sending.

He sent lots of different things!
- 3 DVDs
- Sweeney Todd
- Blazing Saddles
- Little Bear: Winter Games (A cartoon from my childhood. I love the music.☆)
- A bag of popcorn
- A box of Nerds
- A Cadbury Creme Egg
- A Hershey's Cookies 'n' Creme bar
- Bubblewrap (It's really fun to pop!)
It's been a really long time since I've had any candy or chocolate.☆
Thank you very much, dad. ^-^

As well as Sui-san's birthday, because the 24th has just begun here, it's also my mother's birthday.☆
She would have been 54 years old today.
Since I don't have access to an oven, I'll try to go to the store today and buy perhaps a cupcake to celebrate.

Please make sure you spend some time with your own mother, too, both today and every other day. You only have one mother, and no matter what, she will always love you. A mother's love is unconditional.☆

Well, goodnight then.

Frustration? Disappointment?

I can't tell which one I feel more.

My small group of friends I have here at university decided to go to karaoke tonight. I tagged along, even though I'm not particularly comfortable in situations like that.
My grandma, however, encouraged me to go, and I could never say no to my grandma.

I was perfectly fine sitting there and looking through the song books, and humming along if I knew a song.
My "friends", however, weren't satisfied with this.
They came up with a plan to get me to sing. Essentially, they tried to pressure me into drinking.
Even the nicest guy in the group, Jason, wanted me to do it. He came up with the idea. I thought he would understand how I felt, and would try and tell everyone to leave me alone.
That pissed me off.
I paid for my part of the room rental fee, and I left.

So, here I am, back at square one.
I have no friends here now.
Friends don't pressure you into doing something you don't want to do, especially something like drinking.

Meanwhile, I finished a card today.

I highly doubt he'll be reading this, so I can safely say that this card will be sent to YUKI-san, as part of his birthday gift.
Do the flowers resemble violets at all? I hope they do.
The violet is the birth flower of February. ^-^
I couldn't quite think of what to draw, but this is the result.
I hope he likes it. Though I have a feeling he might not..
My hand hurts from drawing and colouring it....

I suppose that's all for now.
This week I'll be waiting for the rest of YUKI-san's gifts, and of course, studying.
I'll listen to some music, and then I'll go to bed.

Holiday Review Part 2.

But, you learn from your mistakes, right?☆
That was my first time using that recipe. They turned out very well, I think. They were very soft, which is a quality I like in cookies.

And, just like that....I was back at university.
Ah, the work never ends!
But, with the power of metal, I'll continue my journey.☆

Next on my list, as well, is to gather everything for YUKI-san's birthday.
What did I get him?
Only YUKI-san will know.☆
I hope he receives it on time, and that he likes his gifts.
Will he like them?
I don't think I will ever know, sadly.

Not much is going to be going on soon, as far as I know.
That's all for now, really.

2012.☆

Right now it's New Year's Eve in Japan.

In Canada, this happens tomorrow.

So, Happy New Year, everyone.☆

I hope the new year of 2012 brings lots of happiness and new, wonderful events and changes.

I'll be spending the new year up north with my aunt, uncle, and grandmother.☆

Since it's been a few days, I'll write about recent events.

My poor laptop crashed the other day...

I brought it to my friend's house when we had our sleepover, so that we could watch Versailles together.

Unfortunately, it stopped, and the blue screen of death appeared..

So, laptop-san was sent away today to be repaired.

Hopefully, it comes back before I have to return to university.

Christmas took place at home for the first time.☆

My dad bought me a reprint of the original Joy of Cooking book! It has a lot of interesting recipes in it, some of which I'm not sure I should attempt..but there are some I'd like to try eventually.

Maybe I'll be able to cook like MASASHI-san one day.☆

Thank you very much dad!

I decided to go to the mall the other day, and participate in scroogenomics. It's a lovely concept.

I bought Sailor Moon volumes 1 and 2, Black Bird volume 10, and new makeup! I now have new eye shadow, eyeliner, lipstick and lipgloss. Unfortunately everything was over $50...a bit expensive, but I hope it will pay off eventually.

No woman should be without a tube of red lipstick, right? It's essential, even if you never wear makeup, like me.☆

Emerald has been especially loud lately. I think it's because she doesn't approve of the new food we bought for her. Unfortunately the food we usually buy for her was out of stock, so we had no choice...

I'm sorry, Emerald!

She's also going through another kitten phase, where she has lots of energy all of a sudden.☆

She always wants to play now, but I get tired very easily...

What a strange cat she is.

I hope to buy the new Versailles calendar soon. Unfortunately I'll have to spend a bit more money in order for it to get here sooner, rather than later. But I'm certain it will be worth it.☆

Also, in anticipation of YUKI-san's birthday, I'd like to buy a gift.

But...what should I buy?

I don't know much about what he likes or his style. Unfortunately, this means I will have to rely on my instincts.

I'm sorry if I don't send something you like, YUKI-san.

It will also be HIZAKI-san's birthday in the same month.

I think I could draw some flowers for him. I'm not quite sure.

Luckily, there's still a bit of time before their birthdays to decide on all of these things.

Hm, I think that's all for now, really.

I'm sorry for those of you who come across this blog and think it's Japanese.

I would blog inJapanese if I knew enough, but I'm still learning...barely.

Again, Happy New Year for when the time comes, everyone.☆
