This morning I watched my bus fly right past me = 30 minutes of power walking to the station!
Then after work, I missed my bus to the gym = 1 hour of more power walking!
Then of course, 1 hour of rock climbing, where I achieved a lot of personal bests!

GOOD JOB ME!!

The other night I went out for dinner and drinks with my good friend, Don! Our first stop was at a yakitori (roasted skewered meat) place of his recommendation, and we had many delicious dishes, of my favourite were the sunagimo (gizzard) and kanimiso (crab innards)

Don and I arrived in Japan at around the same time, and we've both been here for almost 4 years. I find I could talk to Don non-stop about anything for hours and hours on end, and I always learn a lot from him. This night was another excellent example of that, and we talked through dinner and drinks, and also through the walks to and from town, which takes 40 minutes from our apartment.

When I told Don how embarrassed I was at being inarticulate and therefore always poorly deliver my anecdotes, he taught me a precious movie quote:

"I got poetry in me, I do, I do, I got poetry in me--but I ain't going to put it down on paper."

Being a big movie buff, Don always knows what to say to make a girl feel better, and then back it up with a memorable movie quote.

こないだ友人のドンとご飯行ってきました！ドンのオススメで焼きとりのお店に行って、美味しいモノいっぱいいただきました。特に美味しかったのは砂肝と蟹みそ、ほんっとーに最高でした！

ドンと私は同じ頃に日本に来たので、同期とも言える仲でしょう。もうすぐ4年間経ちます！ドンとは何についても語れるです。いつも色々勉強させてもらってます（・u・。）

その夜もそうでした。食事、その後に行ったバー、アパートも同じだからお店まで歩く40分間行きと帰りを含めて、ノンストップで何時間も語りました！

私はいつも最近の出来事とか語っちゃうとすっごく長くなります。なぜなら、基本的に話すのが下手で、いつも要らない情報も挟んで簡潔に喋れないのです。それでも、いつも聞いてくれるドンに甘えて、なんとその上手く話しができない相談までしてしまいました。そこでドンが大事な、ある映画のセリフを教えてくれました：

「オレには（心に）詩があるんだ、それは本当だ。心に詩があるけど、紙になんか書けないし、書かない。」
（『ギャンブラー』(1971)より）

その映画の主人公が、喋りが下手でちょっとツンデレですが、心がとてもやさしいらしいです。ドンは頭のいい人で映画通ですから、いつもこんな感じに人を励む言葉を言いながら、面白い映画を教えてくれるのです（笑）

ドン、私の心に秘めている詩をいつも聞いてくれてありがとう！

I made dinner again for my neighbour and I!

☆Menu☆
・Cabbage and bacon miso soup
・Stewed kabocha squash
・Shrimp with mizuna (potherb mustard) stir fry

I didn't want it to be the same old thing every time so I tried a few different techniques!
For example, I fried ingredients for the miso soup in butter and then added milk to it, and I replaced sugar with honey for the squash!
All simple things though :P

Man, it's so hard to come up with a different menu every day, I take so much time!
I super admire all the mums and dads that do this every day for 3 meals!!
If only I could become as efficient as them!!

・キャベツとベーコンのお味噌汁
・カボチャの煮物
・えびと水菜の炒め物

マンネリになっちゃいそうですから色々挑戦しましたぜー
お味噌汁の具を先にバターで炒めてあとミルクいれたり、煮物の砂糖をはちみつにしたり！
全部シンプルですけど（・u・。）

でもやっぱりメニュー考えるのまだまだ時間掛かるし難しいですなぁー
毎日家族のためにお料理しているお母さん、お父さんたち偉いです！
見習わなきゃー

I am embarking on an adventure I never dared to go on before--I'm getting into gardening!!

...just ever so slightly.

I love cooking with herbs, but little tiny packs of herbs can be so expensive in Japan, and a lot of times they don't have stock of even the most basic ones, when I need it. That's why I am trying to grow my own, so I can have fresh herbs whenever I want! I'm starting with Italian parsley, basil (my FAVE), and rosemary.

The only worry is, I'm REALLY bad at gardening. I've killed plants that friends have asked me to babysit, and multiple plant-type gifts (does anyone remember when it was popular to give those eggs with a sprout inside that blossoms into a message? Yeah, I killed those too)

Let's see if these herbs will last!! (crosses fingers)


PS. At the home center I bought the herbs at 2 of my students were working there and brought my stuff back to my car for me! I hope this is a good omen :)

未知との遭遇に挑戦します！ガーデニング始めます！！

まぁ、ほんのちょっとだけですが。

ハーブで料理するの大好きですが、日本のスーパーではいつも小さくて高いパックのハーブしか売ってなくて、しかもよく品切れで欲しい時に限って買えないこともあります。ですから、自分で作ろうと思って、今日はホームセンターでイタリアンパセリと、いっちばん好きなバジルと、ローズマリーを買ってきました！

でも、やっぱり心配です。なぜなら、ガーデニングは結構な苦手です。友達が旅行に行った時頼まれた植物のお世話とかも結局枯れさせるし、誕生日にもらった、なんか、咲かすとメッセージが出てくるような観葉植物も結局お水あげすぎしちゃってメッセージ一生見れないように台無しにしちゃうような人間です（；△；。）

ハーブたちよ、どうか、生きていくよーに。


PS.　ホームセンターでバイトしてた生徒2人にばったり会って、荷物を車まで持って行ってくれた！とってもうれしかったので、これがハーブたちにとって縁起のいいスタートにしましょう☆

Oh, what, I haven't updated in half a year. Hahaha.

Today's the first day of Golden Week part 2, and all my plans fell through so I'm just chilling under my heated table (even though it's already May, but it's been a very cold Spring this year!)

Then suddenly I remember, hey, didn't I have that blog?

Yes, yes, I did. And here it is!

I get excited and bored of things too easily, but it really is so precious to have an account of daily life and thoughts, and it really is embarrassing/fun to read my old blog, so I'll try to get myself together on this one!

Speaking of my old blog, I went and checked to find the last entry dated April 9th, 2013, on the day of the entrance ceremony at the high school I work at. For this entry's picture, here's a side-by-side comparison with a picture from April 8th, 2013, at THIS year's entrance ceremony.

えっ、もう半年ぐらいブログ書いてないっけ？あらら。

今日はゴールデンウィーク前半の初日です。予定は全部ドタキャンされてて、今日はコタツに入って（五月なのに今年はまだ寒い！）のんびりしようとしています。そこで、ぼーとしたら思い出しました。

あれ、ブログあったっけ。

ありました！ありました！これです！

私本当に飽き性で、すぐ盛り上げてすぐ飽きちゃう体質ですが、ブログは続きたいと思っているんですよ。日常の出来事、その瞬間しか感じられない感情や思っていることを記録して、そしてその後恥ずかしいと思いながら読むの大好きです。だから今度こそ頑張･･･りたいと思います(笑)

さっきその気持ちを蘇らせろうと思って前のブログを見てみたら、最新のブログが2012年4月9日のでした。その日はちょうど勤務されている高校の入学式で、写真も載せました。せっかくですから、今回の記事に今年、2013年4月8日にあった入学式の写真も載せちゃいます！

同じスーツ着てます。
そういえば結局そのスーツ、一年に一度しか着ません(笑)

Recently, I've been playing on my iPhone a lot while on the bus to work (and, as revealed in my image, even as I wait for classes after I arrive...oops)

I downloaded the Akinator app today (super slowpoke, I know!) and to my pleasant surprise it was able to guess my favourite 2D character EVER, Satou Shigeki from "WHISTLE!"

I was also super ecstatic I got the 2000th play of him, I don't even know why.

最近、通勤のバスにiPhoneのアプリで遊ぶようになりました。
ハマる時は、授業の合間でもヒソヒソでやっているぐらい･･･てへっ

今日はついに『アキネイター』をダウンロードし、やってみました!
なんと、私が2次元で一番愛している、『ホイッスル！』の佐藤成樹がわかってくれました!!
うれしい!!

それに、私のプレイが2000回目たったんで、なんとなく今日の感動になりました。
日記帳に書きましょう。

Yesterday marked my 25th birthday, so I decided to start a new journal and simultaneously, a new blog (as I have done countless, countless times in my life...but I'll try to make this one last :P )

The journal, which I found in Taiwan Eslite bookstore this summer, is titled "One Line a Day - a five year memory book." I hope I can keep it up and write one line a day, as I hope to post one entry a day to this blog, no matter how short...we'll see if I can keep that up!
