ベネチアにある６つの地区。

その最も古いカステッロ地区。

1600年もむかしは、じとっとした沼地の島だったんだ。

なんとか住みついた人がいて、村になって教会を８つ作ったんだって。

そのひとつが、サン・ピエトロ・カステッロ。

1000年まえから、司祭さんが選ばれるようになって、たたずまいに気合いが入ってきたみたい。

教会にしては、大きいし立派だしってことで？

200 年まえまで、ベネチアの市庁として、使われたんだって。

でも、戦争のとき空からの被害を受けてしまった。

その後1970年に修復されて、今の姿に戻ったよ！

ユネスコ世界遺産に登録されているよ。




Venice consists of 6 areas.

Castello is the oldest parts and has been inhabited since the 5th century.

There were small communities in marshy island and 8 churches were founded.

San Pietro di Castello has stood since the 7th century.

The first bishop was invested in 1091.

The church was grander than the previous building.

From 1451 to 1807, it was the centre of Venice and began to see significant investment.

But it was firebombed during the First World War.

After that, it was restored to its former condition in the 1970s.
