Labeling

There is a psychological term called "labeling".

Labeling potentially occurs in any situation.

For example, if parents raise their kid by tell him/her "you are stupid and useless", the kid will label him/herself as underserved one from the society.

On the other hand, if the parent tell their kid "you are smart and thoughtful person", the kid label the other way around.

This labeling effect may be applicable for social change.

People have given names for materials around them regardless of the language which they use.

Naming caters a strong power to unnamed substances, namely unity or solidarity.

For example, the words "gangster" or "mafia" have known to possess strong meaning more than the literal meaning.

Those two words potentially include fear, violence, illegal, murder and etc.

In other words, words are well representation of our state of mind.

Well, let me go back to the labeling

Social labeling would cause revolutionary effect.

That is alternating the names/labels of undesired groups to very different ones.

For example, "gangster" could be changed to "pinky swears".

If the social labeling is going to be successful, not only we can lose our negatives but also loosen the power of the groups.

Inner feeling

Fighting for one's faith is a primary promise for those who in a practice.

In the end of "the silence", the masterpiece of Shusaku Endo, a priest who had fought against rulers in the region stepped on a metallic plate which a figure of Jesus Christ was crafted, which the action seemingly indicates the abundant of practice. Additionally, for Christians, the stepping on the plates are perceived as a disgrace for Christianity.

However, there is a critical reason of stepping on the metal plate. It is a mental excruciation which was caused by watching people suffering from torture.

The point that I'd like to make is how religions capture the action that one pretends to betray their religion in order to protect one's belief or faith. For example Galileo Galilei is a good description for this case. He strongly believed that his theory was rational and scientifically legitimate. On the contrary, priests around his age had judged his ideas false and unacceptable. Galilei, therefore, had to give up his scientific claims and lied in the testimony; otherwise, he might have been sentenced death.

By giving upon his claim, he eventually was not seen as a religious mutineer and could spent rest of his life with out of huge trouble.

However, from religious perspective how his actions is dealt with?

This could be a good social science topic to be discussed.

Interference to your dream

Daily occasions interfere with your dream.

As I can say it's almost my habitual daily pattern, I'm really into watching CSI.

At first, watching inside of human bodies are shocking but you will be tolerate to that after watching it for several seasons.

However, the tolerance, at the same time, loses your excitement toward the drama because you feel all investigation processes are not new and fascinating anymore.

The same pattern of the tolerance also has happened to soccer cheering.

Watching soccer was exciting at the first 5 to 7 years, but gradually the number of falling asleep during watching had increased.

Going by to interference of daily occasion to your dream occurs when the once up on exciting things get boring.

I took a nap today and saw a dream. It was almost a painful nightmare.

My girl friend shoot a guy and i help her to cover up the crime scene. At the end of the dream, both of us ended up catching by the police.

The dream seems to be a good lesson for us not to take violent actions caused by strong negative passion or motive.

Teacher evaluation

I can clearly see that Japanese media has increased their criticism on Japanese teacher's physical punishment since the suicide by a junior high school students in Otsu-chity. Accordingly, the suicide occurred last year in Sakuranomiya high school also triggered the blast of the public anger toward people who dedicate public education.

Toru Hashimoto, the head of Osaka prefecture, has decided to incorporate a teacher evaluation system in the field of public education.

I do support if the system is valid and worth to meet the needs of stakeholders, but as far as I can see, the incorporation of the system will draw some controversies from a number of field.

Certainly, evaluation is not necessary but it can be one of choices to improve the quality of the Japanese education. However, if the evaluation is merely used as just a method of releasing the stress of students during their daily lives, incorporation should be reconsidered again.

Hypothesis 1 about listening music during study

My parents used to tell me during study "you cannot focus on study if you listening to music."

The previous statements stacked in my head and still I am keep asking to myself "why shouldn't?"

Because of my learning TESOL, the semantics realized me that associations between meanings and a word. For example, "association" is a word constructed with 11 letters and contains the meaning of "an idea or a memory that is suggested by somebody/something; a mental connection between ideas" (AOD, 2012). Thus,

Also, in the large classification, types of music are limited only to: music with lyrics and only melody. In most of the case, classic music is only composed by the sounds created by several instruments. On the other hand, music, for example my favorite artist Jason Mraz's song "a beautiful mess", is built with a number of beautiful rhetorics and implications.

The key point is your attempt of interpretation of rhetorics and implications that the composure made. While listening to music, the listener attempt to make association between lyrics and meaning. In other words, cognitive functions or mental processes try to make an association during listening music.

In this sense, hypothetically what my parents said was right. My attention went off toward making an association instead of studying.

Therefore, according to my hypothesis, i recommend you to listen to music that does not include lyrics for your deep concentration. Or, if you get bored from studying and wanna pretend as if you are studying, you should listen to Jason.

Peace!!!!!!! Koki!!!!!

Dok-do and Takeshima

I hate giving political opinions cuz no matter how good I state them in the end it goes against with someone.

But as a person living in the Asian Pacific region, I think I have a responsibility to show my attitude toward this problem. The following paragraph is my opinion toward an issue being debated by Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

It is a crash of emotion emerging out from greediness. China, South Korea, and Japan, those three Asian countries are claiming their position over the other two countries in order to inform their right of owning a small island. The island called Takeshima island in Japanese, Dok-do in Korean is the main case of the conflict involving those countries. The issue gets complicated due to also complicated historical background among the three countries. Most claims from a country to the others include irrational logic. Rather than logical discourse among the countries in order to solve this issue, opinions are likely to compose negative feeling against the other countries. When you say an opinion, please take a breath and stand a point where the other countries are standing. Don’t think about your own profit. It might sound like a dream but I prefer to share the small island by the three countries rather than increasing hatred toward the others.

About teachers 1

Education is an ability of animals. Every child, no exception, learn survival sills throughout their younger age. It all begins with basics.

No, here what I want to mention is not academical definition of education but my some thoughts toward education.

Education seems alike to growing plants. You will patiently wait for the seeds coming out. It may take for a long time. Some wont come out no matter how you wish. Some surprisingly grow beyond your imagination.

A big difference is that education can pass students down to the next. Educators should never give upon their students. If students are not growing up, you need to reflect yourself. You will make your best efforts to improve your students.

Teachers can be arrogant very easily. Since after graduation, people who teachers encounter basically are kids. In addition, there are few objective eyes which checks teachers' performances. Most of the time, teachers themselves are the objective eyes. Otherwise, they may become a tyrant in class.

Writing Skill 1

George Orwell left us tips of writing better English sentences.

He protested against domination of vagueness in English writing. He states that short sentence and using everyday phrases ease the understanding of readers.

Here is his main point...

1. What am I trying to say?
2. What words will express it?
3. What image or idiom will make it clearer?
4. Is this image fresh enough to have an effect?

And he will probably ask himself two more:
1. Could I put it more shortly?
2. Have I said anything that is avoidably ugly?

1. Never use a metaphor, simile, or other figure of speech which you are used to
seeing in print.
2. Never use a long word where a short one will do.
3. If it is possible to cut a word out, always cut it out.
4. Never use the passive where you can use the active.
5. Never use a foreign phrase, a scientific word, or a jargon word if you can think of
an everyday English equivalent.
6. Break any of these rules sooner than say anything outright barbarous.

I will probably take them into my considerations when I am writing.

George Orwell "Politics and English Language"
http://mla.stanford.edu/Politics_&_English_language.pdf
