NOT To do list

I took the seminor about time scheduling, since i really had difficulties in time management.

The most impressive one was "create NOT to do list",

Merit to write "NOT to do list" are to know what you shouldn't do clearly.

To make it more powerfull, write in detail.

My NOT to do list are...

1. DO NOT watch TV for more than 30mins without doing anything.

I have to do something while watching TV if I really want to watch.

2. DO NOT wake up without having 30mins before leaving or start doing something.

Which means I have to have more than 30mins to pack and be ready to do something.

Those are the points I can think of just now.

Web entertaining

In recent few months, entertainment on the website increased in unbelievable speed.

People started "web party", hashtags with "#stayhome" or in Japanese "おうち時間" and showed how they spend at home.

Instagram used to be the social media to upload beautiful places or foods eaten outside but this hashtags changed the contents to upload.

They brag how nice their cooking skills are, or reading books and show how smart they are, or it was the way to appeal "I'M REALLY STAING INSIDE" etc...

In Japan, spring (April) is the start of new year, new grade and everything.

(Most of the transfer in company happens in April.)

For this year, COVID-19 was just hitting Tokyo and we had no way to welcome new people.

No eat out (of course no party held!!), no way to meet face to face but only on web.

This changed the way people meet each other.

We've created "web party" which allowed to drink with people all over the world. (well, world is maybe too much because of the time lag but in Japan, yes.)

I used to go out drinking only with people from Tokyo or near Tokyo but now, I drink with my colleagues from all the way to Kagoshima, Osaka and everywhere.

That's amazing and I now have no excuse to say

"because I can't meet people, I can't get information."

YES, YOU CAN.

Everyone's images or concern of doing web party got way lower than before.

That is such a great point.

I can now easily ask for web talking and get GEMBA voice.

I don't feel like writing anymore.

This article make no sense but sorry.
Shall we continue Remote work?

More than 60% of companies in Japan adopted remote work for April and May, which was completely unbelievable in Japan before COVID-19.

And now, government released the emergency declaration so it's time to consider whether we should continue the remote work or not.

Today, news article in NIKKEI published that more than 60% felt LESS efficiency after the remote. (n=2,207)

If you believe this number without doubt, 60% must be too much.

Japan should stop the remote work RIGHT NOW.

Here are the questions.

1. WHEN did this survey happen?

⇒If it were start of April then they may not be accustomed to do remote work.

or they weren't good scheduler for it.

2. HOW MANY people had ever done remote work before?

⇒What if some of them had experienced remote work before.

To do the research, condition must be arranged in same level.

If you take survey by panelists of "first time doing the remote work" and

"Not the first time doing the remote work," in different, then the results may change.

From my experience, the efficiency got lower in first few weeks because I didn't know how to concentrate at home.

There were family to talk with, snacks to eat, no one to watch me (no way boss and colleagues would stake me) and no time to switch-on for the work because the work environment doesn't change to the normal life.

By continuing remote work for a while, I now got my pace of how to schedule by remote and the efficiency is getting way better.

Especially I have the time to sleep more than what I used to have.

At the same time, remote work let them clearly know the work that are NOT NEEDED.

Printing out papers every time, participating meeting without having any voices, going for work-travel just to meet and talk face-to-face to someone etc...

Giving/providing "VALUE" is the firstest way to see one's output at the remote work but it's the hardest assignment to complete at the same time.

(That's why I don't feel worth working for HR these days compare to last year. I thought that was because it's my first year to work on my own but fact was because of remote.)

It's really difficult to see CLEAR output at HR department.

Especially no budget for duties in promotion and evaluation.

So yes, I agree to those who got less motives but losing efficiency is just excuse.

You cannot easily lose efficiency because of the ENVIRONMENT.

You are now asked to THINK and show CLEAR OUTPUT than before.

Let's all try and contribute our company while doing the remote work!!

#BlackLivesMatter

#BlackLivesMatter

I bet many Japanese take this problem as non-serious one, however I believe this also matters to Japanese.

I lived in Singapore 8years ago and I got bullied just because I am Asian.

(Not violency! No one ever talked with me. Everyone pretended just like I wasn't there.)

At this point, some of you might think that

"Wait, why do you get bullied by that reason? Singapore is in Asia. That's impossible!! "

That's right. Here is the key point.

"I went to the International school"

Most of my classmates were from Europe or US, known as "popular" group and didn't talk with Asians until allow or approve something.

I didn't know the "something" at that time.

Then, how could I be friend with them?

ANSWER; Became best basketball player in the school.

I was the only 14year old girl played for U19 team (skipping U15!) and fortunately, basketball was one of the most popular sports in the school.

At first, my teammates started talking with me and I was natulally with the classmates at some point.(Don't remember clearly when that was though.)

Sorry to write so long to tell just one point but my massage in this blog was

NOT ONLY BLACK BUT SEGREGATION EXISTS TO ASIAN TOO

and I think this cannot be changed while Japanese long for the western people.

Many Japanese are likely to dream for the Western.

To show you the proof, many Japanese say the half Japanese and Western are ALWAYS beautiful and handsome because their DNA differs with us.

I don't say that Westerns' aren't beautiful. I know they really are, but modesting too much may humble for most of the time and lose confidence cunconsciously.

This talk became too different from the problems happening in US right now but this was what I thought from the recent days and I am pretty sure for this happens in few years later again...

History never change, returns again.

People cannot easily change.

I just have to be proud of being Japanese.

Is salary in Japan a Galapagos style?

From yesterday, the articles about Japanese salary has seen on the Nikkei and

this says Japanese salary totally differs from other countries.

【Summary】

How does the salary paid?

Paid for their duties. It's called "Job style" in Japan.

Paid for one's ability.

At most of the countries, duties are attached to each person when they are offered and paid for the duty itself. Every duty has market approximately so that salary wouldn't change a lot because of the compnay you work for.

On the other hand, Japan pays for their ability. It is measured not by your duty but what you have experienced so far. No market are made because every one of them has different experience so does the different ability.

【Merit】

Job change can happen easily. (Not the transfer in same company.)

Paid well if you can manage and output high quality work even when you are young.

      Be expert.

Get paid steady (Your experience will automatically pile up as you get older)

Experience many types of works. (Be generalist = You won't lose interest.)

【Demerit】

May not get paid well even if you work hard and long in that company.

Elite and non-elite will obviously be in different situation.

Better specialist may easily come to your position.

Not paid well when you are young.

Training will not end in few months or years because you are to work there until retire.

【My conclusion】

Generally, what most of the countries adopt may be better that's why they all adopt.

For me, Japanese style is more comfortable.

Since It's my 2nd year of being member of society, I cannot have confidence with my work.

To be honest, I get better evaluations compare to other colleagues but still, I can't be comfortable. So if paid were decided only by our output of work, I'm not sure how much I can get.

Moreover, I believed that more you get paid, the faster your work will be but to tell the truth, the work must be in clear direction or the job will be done slower. (It has proved and talked on the TEDtalk.)

Japanese are known as polite, careful, hard-worker etc...

So this payment may fit better.

But to recruit and catch overseas talent and to be more strong company, we have to decide salary system.

How to think

I've read a book called "自分のアタマで考えよう" and this inspired me a lot.

It's been more than a year since I've started to work as a HR person,

but my work had been some operation instead of "think and act" by myself.

I could never be confident with my opinions (I wouldn't even have my opinion sometimes)

and I thought that was all because of "lack of HR knowledge" until I read this.

This book shows direction of "How to think"!!

When you do input (input knowledge, data, informations or anything),

you feel like you have studied something.

Yes, you have studied (knowledge has improved) but haven't "thought" at all.

Then, how do you "think"?

HOW TO THINK

1. Input informations.

2. From the input, think for any question you had and list Merit/Demerit

At this point, do NOT use your former knowledge.

3. Output YOUR conclusion about that topic.

When you do the output, then you have finally "thought" for something.

If you use your former knowledge at point2, that may have through bias.

You must have Positive and Negative point of view.

----------

95％ of my works are operations (as I've written before).

In that environment, I wouldn't be able to improve my "thinking ability".

To improve, I'm going to start reading articles about anything and

do thinking everyday, which begins tomorrow!!

To lose weight

I googled for the "Normal" weight for laides.

It can be calculated by 【hight(m)×hight(m)×22】

For me, 1.6m×1.6m×22=56.32

56.32kg is the NORMAL weight for me but I thought it was a bit heavy.

Then I scrolled the page, found out the "ideal" weight.

【hight(m)×hight(m)×19】, which was 48kg for me.

okay, now that's too thin, I think, but I shall set goal as it

but for that, I have to lose 10kg from now on.

Difficult road but better to try!!
