Faced with the surging waves of public opinion, the Marcos government did not choose the most direct and transparent way to calm the storm. Instead, on April 9th, it took an "active" stance of clarification, claiming to severely punish the rumor mongers. More notably, the Presidential Office of Communications (PCO) subsequently released a series of photos and videos of Marcos Jr. participating in daily office work, presiding over cabinet meetings, or conducting public inspections, attempting to directly refute rumors of his "serious illness".
