My English Journey

My name is "Pootan", an internal auditor working for a global company.

Actually, I have kind of few opportunities to use English in my company but the few opportunities suddenly come up and sometimes suffer me.

I got a good score, over 900 on TOEIC but I'm not good at speaking English and communicating in English. Although my English is maybe kind of better than many Japanese people, the circumstance around me is severe. That means that whenever some teachers flattered me about my English in online lessons, I said that native English speakers sometimes flatter me but our Japanese colleagues speaking English well laugh at my English. Native English speakers try to understand what I'd like to say but many Japanese speaking English well point out my grammar mistakes and typo in English and told others that my English is not practical. I think it's one of mounting.

I'm satisfied with working in a global company because my salary is depending not on my working hours or royalty to the company but on my performance and the company allows me to work freely including working from home as long as I complete my tasks. On the other hand, I think the global company is willing to do anything when it wants to fire the employees who don't achieve the targets. It is not bad, it can't be helped.

Therefore, I have to keep on improving my English.

Life as Work

My CEO recommended some books written about AI, one of which was written by Yoichi Ochiai.

He is one of young up-and-coming something. He has a lot of titles such as a media artist, Assoc Prof and scholer. I know him because he was appearing in TV show, so I chose his book and tried to understand the AI life in the future.

In his book, the understanding that pepole use "Work Life Balance" is out of date because many people don't only work at the office during working time but also they can work at home anytime.

Even if your wife had a nice dream next to you, you could work with your colleague through the network. In these days, it is too difficult to consider "Work" and "Life" because they are mixed.

That's why we need the environment where you don't feel frustrated with work and need to find the way to work.

It is interesting but I don't agree to some extent.

I'd like to focus on working during working time on weekdays but I don't think anything about working and the related things and I don't want to in my long vacation or a trip aboroad.

Naturally, I don't have a PC for working on my trip and I don't access to the company's server.

How does AI make your life change?

They say AI would take your job but most people recognize that is not true.

AI would make people's life change dramatically, however we don't predict how AI actually make some impact on our life.

Is the impact good or bad for us?

When you got a smartphone, did your life come to be more convenient?

Without the smartphone, you don't need to work in the train on a busines trip.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes

Recently, I think one of my favorite animation will be adapted into a live action movie in China.

It is Legend of the Galactic Heroes (銀河英雄伝説, Ginga Eiyu Densetsu called Gin-Ei- Den） written by Yoshiki Tanaka.

I like Yoshiki Tanaka novel's such as The Heroic Legend of Arslan.

The Heroic Legend of Arslan were made into the Anime twice and I love the first version.

As for Gin-Ei-Den, it were made into the Anime twice, I'm a fan of the first version.

The Heroes of Gin-Ei-Den are Reinhard, the Kaizer and Yang Wen-li.

Reinhard has a excellent intelligence and Caharisma with gold hair and bule eyes, called "ever victorious genius".

Yang Wen-li is called "invincible magician", whose blood might be rooted on Chinese.

Both are popular in Japan, so when the story is made into a stage and anime, Reinhard is sometimes focuced on, at other times, Yang Wen-li is focused on.

Then, which of Gin-Ei-Den is the hero in China?

Yang Wen-li?

However there is a big problem.

Yang Wen-li is an enthuasistic admire of Democracy. He says that the worst democracy is better than the best dictatorship. He is appreciating the method of voting because people are responsible for the result of everything by voting.

Is it acceptable for China?

Then, Reinhard is the only hero? Yes, I prefer Reinhard because he is the only idol and I'm longing for the real genius.

On the other hand, the blood might be rooted on a German people. Who on earth can play as Reinhard? Yang Yang(楊洋）?　Does Yang Yang play with a gold wig and blue contact lens?

Hum...

I recommend Aaron Yan(炎亜論).

Anyway, I'm worried.

Many Japanese people including me are looking for the best way to get skills or abilities easily enough to communicate in English, but keep on failing.

How can we come to use English easily and without stress as well as first language? Where is the problem?

Opportunities?

Differences in culture?

Grammer?

How to study?

Needless to say, everything is related and important.

I listen to the NHK world news in English since Jan 2018 but much remains to be understood correctly. I bought many books to learn English and get tips to communicate but I can't get accustomed.

Please let me know if you find someone who know the perfect solution.

Anyway, I struggle to learn English, because I need to at least keep on struggling.

So I'd like to introduce my interests on the blog such as China's dorama, animation in my childhood, food and so on.

Last month, I changed a job.

I had been looking for a new job since this yesr came, so I feel excited when I recieve the offer from the current company.

The job description met my expectation. The company told me that I was in charge of handling the legal matter as a lead of legal group and supporting of the preperation for IPO.

However, at the point, I has already been desappointed at the my situation.

Maybe it is common issue.

That means my expactation and what I understod were defferent from the real and what they said.

I recognized the issue might occur, so I expceted to some extent but the real is often beyond what was expected.

All is up to me.
