LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Keeping our watering holes open one business at a time, "Bar Rescue" is moving on to a fourth season on Spike TV. The cable network announced on Thursday that it has ordered 20 episodes to begin airing in the fall.

Host, bar and nightlife expert Jon Taffer will return to offer his almost three decades of knowledge to give failing businesses another chance at becoming profitable.

The renewal order follows a very successful Season 3 for the series, which averaged 1.8 million viewers per episode, a pretty staggering 195 percent increase in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic over the prior season.

In an effort to broaden its programming, Spike recently announced a new slate of scripted fare last month, including a project about recently apprehended gangster Whitey Bulger and a series about corruption in the 1970s music industry from Kiss tongue-wagger Gene Simmons.

(Reuters) - Google's YouTube video service is dipping its toe into pay television by starting on Thursday a subscription service with 30 content creators, including children's programmers Sesame Street and Muppet creator The Jim Henson Co, and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

YouTube, the world's largest video website, allows creators to set subscription fees and accept advertisements, at their discretion, for the channels they create.

For $4.99 a month, subscribers can get golf lessons from the PGA Golf Academy. The Laugh Factory charges $2.99 for clips of stand-up comedy routines and Henson charges $2.99 for full length episodes of "Sid The Science Kid" and "Fraggle Rock."

YouTube has spoken repeatedly about its intent to experiment with paid channels, and has made no secret about its intent to be a major player in quality content.

"If feels to me as if history is repeating itself, said Tony Vinciquerra, former chairman of News Corp's Fox Networks Group. "In the early '80s cable providers subsidized channels to enhance offerings to consumers and increase penetration. Fast forward to today, and YouTube is subsidizing the development of new content offerings."

YouTube will feature content from traditional TV and film producers, company executives said, and at the launch featured children's videos from National Geographic and videos from cable channel HDNet.

That could eventually be a threat to cable and TV operators, but no time soon, said Richard Greenfield, a media analyst with BTIG LLC.

"I think everyone who creates video programming should be worried about the growth of new content channels," he said. "Broadcast TV has been hurt by cable. Broadcast is still a very large business despite fragmentation."

Content creators will get most of their revenue from subscriptions, as they already do from advertising on the site, according to company officials.

In March, YouTube said on its blog that it has more than 1 billion unique users a month. The new subscription service will be available in 10 countries at launch.

YouTube has spent more than $100 million to help about 150 media partners create and promote specialized YouTube video channels dedicated to topics ranging from food to sports.

"Consumers have gotten used to getting their content on the web," said Laura Martin, senior analyst with Needham and Co. "The question is whether they will pay for it."

May 4 (Reuters) - France's Sebastien Loeb won the Rally of Argentina for the eighth year in a row in a Citroen on Saturday.

The nine-times world champion, who is not defending his title this season as he is competing in only a limited programme of events, beat Volkswagen-driving compatriot Sebastien Ogier into second place by 55 seconds.

Finland's Jari-Matti Latvala finished third for Volkswagen.

Ogier had won the last three rallies but retained the championship lead after five of the 13 rounds with 122 points to Loeb's 68. Citroen's Mikko Hirvonen, Ogier's closest real rival for the crown, has 57.

"It's great emotion to win here," the champion said. "After so many months since my last gravel rally it was difficult to find the feeling in the first stage and to get the car working for me. But it was the perfect drive."

The rally, based in Villa Carlos Paz near Cordoba to the north of Buenos Aires, was Loeb's first since Sweden in February, and third of the season, and he will not compete again in the championship until France in October.

The next rally is in Greece at the end of May.

Loeb has an unprecedented career tally of 78 world championship rally wins and Saturday's was likely to be his last on gravel, with France being an asphalt event.

The official wrc.com website said an estimated 80,000 spectators lined the roadside on the final El Condor stage to see Loeb's Argentine farewell.

Ogier had won five of the first six stages of the event but handed Loeb the lead when he went off the road on Friday.

"It's a good result for us," the title favourite said. "We had a lot of problems this weekend but we're happy to be at the end ... we had a few problems even this morning."

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon on Thursday cleared BlackBerry and Samsung mobile devices for use on Defense Department networks, a step toward opening up the military to a wide variety of technology equipment makers while still ensuring communications security.

Lieutenant Colonel Damien Pickart, a Pentagon spokesman, said the department cleared the use of BlackBerry 10 smart phones and BlackBerry PlayBook tablets using its Enterprise Service 10 system, as well as Samsung's Android Knox.

"This is a significant step towards establishing a multi-vendor environment that supports a variety of state-of-the-art devices and operating systems," Pickart said in a statement.

The Pentagon said on Wednesday it also expected to clear Apple mobile devices using the iOS 6 system at some point in early May.

The move to open up Defense Department networks is expected to set the stage for an intensified struggle for Pentagon customers among BlackBerry devices, Apple's iPhones or iPads and units using Google's Android platform such as Samsung Electronics' phones.

The Pentagon currently has some 600,000 users of smart phones, computer tablets and other mobile devices. The department has 470,000 BlackBerry users, 41,000 Apple users and 8,700 people with Android devices. Most Apple and Android systems are in pilot or test programs.

The move to open up the networks to a broader array of mobile devices is part of a Pentagon effort to ensure the military has access to the latest communications technology without locking itself in to a particular equipment vendor.

To ensure security, mobile devices and operating systems go through a security review process approved by the Defense Information Systems Agency. Once their Security Technical Implementation Guide - or STIG - is reviewed and approved, the devices can be used on the network.

Pickart said the decision on Thursday did not result in product orders. But it will enable user groups within the Pentagon to purchase the devices most appropriate for their work as the need arises.

"We are pleased to add Blackberry 10 and the Samsung Knox version of Android to our family of mobile devices supporting the Department of Defense," he said. "We look forward to additional vendors also participating in this process."

Following his acclaimed debut last year, the pressure has been stacked on the Belgian designer to deliver again in what is only his second ready-to-wear show in one of the most influential jobs in fashion. And Friday saw Simons live up to expectations.

He confidently evolved the angular portions of previous seasons' work into softer, more saleable silhouettes. The new Bar jacket, looser and in trendy wool denim, seemed to point to a man who's finally settled in to his role.

This season was the supplest fusion so far of his minimalism and the house's ultra-femininity and curves.

Fall-winter 2013-14 saw a parade of "memory dresses," some 48 looks that delved into the iconic houndstooth, peplums, and Monsieur Dior's original '40s designs. They hit the catwalk outside Paris' Hotel des Invalides, reimagined, alongside enormous mirror ball decor.

Like thought bubbles, the reflective spheres set the tone for the musing, which included an embroidered tulle bustier A-line dress, an archive piece called "Miss Dior 1949" reworked in hip embroidered black leather. Elsewhere, blown-up houndstooth had a surreal quality, in vertical slices down column silhouettes. It was a great re-working of the classic pattern first used by the house in the late '50s.

The more muted palette of black, white, pale pink and navy was further proof of his evolution. After all, while at Jil Sander, it was Simons who started the bright color trend.

There was plenty of imagination, like prints and embroideries of surreal eyes and tears that resembled ants, reminiscent of Salvador Dali. However, the show could have done without motifs by Andy Warhol, like a sparking stiletto print, which sometimes jarred as overly adolescent, and a tad tacky.

Overall, the show was a success; one step further on in Dior's mission statement for the designer, to "propel its iconic style into the 21st century."

Harryhausen, who was born in Los Angeles and worked for more than 40 years in the movie industry, died in London, his family said in a statement.

"The Harryhausen family regret to announce the death of Ray Harryhausen, visual effects pioneer and stop-motion model animator.

"Ray's influence on today's film makers was enormous with luminaries; Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Peter Jackson, George Lucas, John Landis and the UK's own Nick Park have cited Harryhausen as being the man whose work inspired their own creations," the statement said.

Harryhausen used a laborious, painstaking "stop-motion" animation technique to single-handedly create imaginative effects for 16 films from the 1950s into the 1980s including three "Sinbad" movies, "Clash of the Titans" (1981), "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers" (1956) and "One Million Years B.C." (1966).

He received a special Academy Award for career achievement in 1992.

"Some say 'Citizen Kane' is the greatest motion picture of all time, others say it's 'Casablanca,'" actor Tom Hanks said as he presented the special Oscar to Harryhausen. "For me, the greatest picture of all time is 'Jason and the Argonauts.'"

That 1963 movie based on Greek mythology featured scenes of sword-wielding skeletons battling human warriors, a colossal statue coming to life and a seven-headed serpent.

While others officially handled the directing chores in his movies, it was Harryhausen who dreamed up, modeled and shot some of the most memorable moments in film history.

Most of his movies, often made with producer Charles Schneer, were low-budget affairs. He once had to make a giant octopus with just six tentacles to save money. But his movie magic helped inspire future cinema giants.

'DYNAMATION'

Harryhausen perfected the "stop-motion" technique that had been used in a small number of earlier films by others including special effects pioneer Willis O'Brien, who would become his mentor, in "King Kong" (1933).

The process allows miniatures to be turned into monsters. Doll-sized models are photographed one frame at a time in continuous poses to create the illusion of motion in a method Harryhausen dubbed "Dynamation."

The creations are then mixed with footage of people, cities and nature and can be made to appear gigantic or tiny depending on the plot.

Harryhausen's creations invariably cause mayhem. In "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers," his UFOs invade Washington, toppling the Washington Monument and smashing the Capitol dome.

In 1953's "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms," a dinosaur-like creature roused from hibernation by an atomic bomb test rampages through Manhattan before meeting its end amid the wreckage of a Coney Island rollercoaster. Many themes from that movie were repeated in the original 1954 Japanese "Godzilla."

Harryhausen brought dinosaurs to life in 1969's "The Valley of Gwangi," featuring an Allosaurus battling an elephant, and the caveman fantasy "One Million Years B.C.," which is also known for Raquel Welch donning a fur bikini.

The three movies based on the Sinbad tales - "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad" (1958), "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad" (1973) and "Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger" (1977) - feature a one-horned Cyclops battling a fire-breathing dragon and a statue of a six-armed goddess based on the Hindu Kali coming to life to fight Sinbad and his crew.

His last film was 1981's Greek mythology adventure "Clash of the Titans," marking the only time in his career he had a big-name cast, including Laurence Olivier, Burgess Meredith, Maggie Smith and Ursula Andress appearing alongside Harryhausen's winged-horse Pegasus and snake-haired Medusa.

Asked in 2010 which of his creatures was his favorite, Harryhausen told the Star-Ledger newspaper in New Jersey, "Oh, I couldn't tell you that. The rest of them would get jealous."

Harryhausen's career inspiration came when he saw "King Kong" at age 13, with the giant gorilla battling dinosaurs and then running amok in New York. He started to sculpt his own models and film experimental footage and received advice from O'Brien, with whom he worked on another giant ape movie, "Mighty Joe Young" (1949) before making films on his own.

Ray Bradbury, the American science fiction writer who was a lifelong friend, said, "Harryhausen stands alone as a technician, as an artist and a dreamer."

The unit has holdings in airports in Athens, Budapest, Duesseldorf, Hamburg, Sydney and Tirana, said Hochtief, which is controlled by Spain's ACS .

It added that it expects no significant extraordinary earnings impact from the transaction, which will take retroactive effect from January 1 this year.

Sources told Reuters in April that Hochtief received bids for its airport unit.

Hochtief halted the sale early last year when it was unable to fetch a price of 1.5 billion euros ($2 billion), but revived its efforts later.

Hochtief Chief Executive Marcelino Fernandez Verdes, who took the top job in November, is leading a drive to shed airports and real estate development businesses to cut the company's debt while making it a leading global infrastructure provider.

The Children’s Hunger Project, Second Harvest Food Bank, the United Way of Brevard and the Brevard Hunger Alliance, along with ‘Face of Change’ will work together to “help the needy families of Brevard County,” said Dr. Ross Clevens, MD, FACS, Clevens Center for Facial Cosmetic Surgery.

“We believe no child in Brevard should be hungry,” says Bob Barnes of the Children’s Hunger Project. “The need is real, and with our community’s help, we have the ability to make a difference."

Alarming stats show that 2 out of 5 kids in Brevard County live in households that struggle to put food on the table; 43,000 Brevard school kids (45%) received free and reduced price lunches in 2012 (compared to 22% of U.S. school children overall).

The initial idea for the meal packaging initiative was created after Dr. Ross Clevens, who frequently travels abroad on medical mission trips to perform surgical procedures with Outreach Africa International, realized that there was as much of a need for ‘nutritionally sound meals’ in those regions, as there was for health care.

Subsequently, Clevens incepted ‘Face of Change,’ and the first meal packaging event was held in January of 2011, with‘nutritionally complete’ meals shipped via the United Nations, to Tanzania, Africa, to aid starving women and children.

Last October, a record 750 volunteers joined Dr. Clevens, his staff, and family tofor children and families in Brevard County.With that, nearly 1,000 pounds of food was donated to the Women's Center, The Children's Hunger Project, and The Second Harvest Food Bank. Since that first event, more than 400,000 meals have been packaged by the ‘Face of Change’ organization.

Hall was among several former Atlanta educators who appeared in Fulton County Superior Court. Hall sat quietly in the gallery, standing up as her attorney J. Tom Morgan said she would waive a formal reading of the charges. The court then entered a not guilty plea on her behalf, and she left the courthouse without speaking to reporters.

Hall's attorneys have promised to mount a strong defense, saying Hall was not aware of or involved in any cheating. Outside of court, Hall's attorney said he expects a number of the 35 defendants in the case will ask to be tried separately, although Hall would not be among them.

"So potentially you're going to have 35 defendants with over 50 attorneys. That will be the longest trial in Georgia history. The longest criminal trial for sure," Morgan said.

Attorneys may argue that being tried so that a jury can consider the charges against them without being influenced by allegations against co-defendants.

On Friday, Judge Jerry Baxter indicated he was inclined to have one trial and set the date for May 5, 2014.

Baxter also dismissed a request for an order barring attorneys from speaking to the media, but reminded them to follow ethical guidelines.

Several other educators appeared in court, and not guilty pleas were entered on their behalf. A small group of supporters gathered outside the courthouse with signs saying, "We support Dr. Beverly Hall and APS employees."

"It's not that I don't believe some irregularities occurred," said Mercehari Williams, a former Atlanta Public Schools educator who was outside the courthouse. "It's not that I don't believe that justice should be served and an investigation should occur and those guilty parties should be prosecuted, but I just believe that it's heavy-handed and I don't believe that we can get a fair trial when it has been tried in the media."

In March, Hall and the other 34 educators were named in a 65-count indictment that alleges a conspiracy to cheat, conceal cheating or retaliate against whistleblowers in an effort to bolster student test scores and, as a result, receive bonuses and accolades for improved student performance.

Each could face five to 20 years in prison if convicted of all the charges.

Sky clocked 22 minutes five seconds along the picturesque 17.4-kilometreroute on the island of Ischia. Movistar was second, nine seconds behind, and Astana featuring Wiggins' expected rival for the title, Vincenzo Nibali of Italy was third, 14 seconds back.

Garmin-Sharp, featuring defending Giro champion Ryder Hesjedal of Victoria, was seventh, 25 seconds behind Sky.

Italy's Dario Cataldo was the first Sky rider to cross the line but Puccio took the pink jersey courtesy of his better placement in Saturday's opening stage.

"It's a bit unexpected but I'm happy to have it," Puccio said. "I've got to thank the team. It was a great team effort."

The Omega Pharma-Quick Step team featuring stage 1 winner Mark Cavendish finished 17th, 48 seconds behind Sky.

Omega sorely missed its time trial specialist Tony Martin, who is not riding the Giro.

Wiggins, the Briton who followed his Tour title with a gold medal in the time trial at last year's London Olympics, has the same time as Puccio in the overall standings. Another Sky rider, Sergio Henao Montoya of Colombia, is third overall, also with the same time.

Wiggins gained 14 seconds on Nibali and 25 seconds on Hesjedal.

"It was a good performance for our team," Nibali said. "We're not time trial specialists most of us are climbers so this is OK."

Hesjedal was in 35th place after two stages, while Christian Meier of Sussex, N.B., was in 44th, 28 seconds back.

Other contenders such as 2011 Tour winner Cadel Evans and 2008 Olympic champion Samuel Sanchez lost even more time with their teams, BMC and Euskaltel, respectively.

The stage was held in perfect conditions on a technical course featuring two difficult climbs in the second half of the stage.

Cyclists arrived on the island off Naples by ferry Sunday morning and were returning to the mainland by boat immediately after the stage.

The Giro remains in the Naples region for Monday's third stage, a hilly and lengthy 222-kilometre leg from Sorrento to Marina di Ascea that follows the breathtaking Amalfi coast.
