Couples in the Las Vegas Valley have taken divergent paths toward everlasting love. Here are some of their stories on Valentine's Day.

WASTING NO TIME

Southwest Las Vegas residents Bob and Ann Brown wasted no time starting their lives together. They married a little more than four months after meeting.

Bob was a teacher and basketball coach at Bishop Gorman High School. Ann was a nurse living at home with her parents. Her younger sister was a student in Bob's class.

"My sister introduced us," Ann said. "I didn't realize what she was up to at the time. Unbeknownst to me, my sister was trying to get this going."

Bob, then 29, took Ann on their first date on Aug. 17, 1975. It was Ann's 22nd birthday. He picked her up at her house and met the family.

"The first thing they wanted to know is would I like something to eat," Bob said. "She had a really fun family, just great people to be around." C.J. Fiedorowicz Womens Jersey

In the subsequent weeks, Bob found any excuse he could to see Ann every day. After a date one night in October, Bob took Ann back to her parents' house, and the two went into "the good living room."

With her parents upstairs sleeping, Bob got down on one knee and proposed.

"I was 29, and I saw what I wanted," Bob said, "a nice person . who loves to cook. And that hasn't stopped."

Bob did not have a ring for Ann yet, but she accepted his proposal. After he left, she woke up her parents to tell them the news.

"He was just a really nice person," Ann said. "He's like the all American guy. He's this coach. He's an athlete. He came from a good family. He had good values."

Yes, we got our weather boasting rights back. There are a few Minnesota townships where I could be jailed for mumbling 'wind chill' under my breath in mid July. That's why I'm in my weather bunker, wondering out loud when, exactly, our weather went off the rails.

Exhibit A: today, perfectly average for early October. A few instability showers pop up this afternoon; highs stuck in the low to mid 60s probably the coolest July 14 on record for MSP. Meanwhile highs will soar to 90F near the Arctic Circle, topping 100F over British Columbia.

Extremes right out of some fictional, hard to believe Hollywood blockbuster.

What SPL meter did you use, what are the test conditions, what is the precise output load (in watts), and how far from the PSU are you measuring noise? My guess is: you don have an SPL meter, your PSU is in a closed up case, the load is probably more like 700 900W at most, and you sitting a few feet away. Remember, input power is not output power, and generating a load of 1200W would require basically four R9 290X GPUs running at max power with a bit of overclocking added in for good measure. And that doesn include the 100 watts needed by the dozen Bitfenix PWM fans on the rads used to cool all of this. No, this was not in a closed case, the load being pulled from the wall was between 1150 and 1290 watts depending on the job being run, and I was not sitting "a few feet" away as you think I might have been.

In the three reviews listed here, neither mentions this power supply being as loud as your review suggests:

What kind of an answer is that man, giving links that doesn even match the message you sending to the anandtech reviewer?

Overclock 3D isn a full review all he says is that it quiet, no ambient room temperature no noise mesurement device based on his opinion only. One page review where half of the time on the video speaks about the ripple suppression and the overhype of coolermaster about that.

Techpowerup comes to about the same results from 800 to 1200 watts power usage hovering around 51 to 54dba. Only results that differ a little are lower ambient temperature but again they use a custom anechoic chamber to measure noise that reduces the ambient noises to 20dba which is not normal usage, no one games in an anechoic room and some people are really used to outstanding ambient noise. Kitguru is the only one with very lower numbers but then again they use THEIR acoustic room, doesn specify what kind of fan settings they are using and so on.

The thing is, sound power and sound pressure are additive figures. This means that if you have a noise source that outputs a total SPL of 50dB(A) and add another device that outputs another 45dB(A) to it, you will have a system with a total SPL of 50+45 dB(A). That NOT 95dB(A), the scale is logarithmic, so the exact math are X = 10log[(10^5.0)+(10^4.5)] = 51.193 dB(A).

To make things simpler, no, I do not expect that such a powerful system will ever be entirely quiet. You can however build a system that is fairly comfortable for everyday use and gaming without terrible effort. But if you keep adding high noise sources, the total noise output of the system increases and it will sooner or later surpass that "comfort threshold".

Just days out from the Hoppers' qualifying final showdown against Mangoplah Cookardinia United Eastlakes on Saturday, the club unveiled Ladhams as its first recruit for the 2015 season.

Ladhams played 54 games for Adelaide between 2001 2004 after originally getting picked up by Essendon in the 1998 AFL Draft. Authentic Jadeveon Clowney Jersey

Ladhams was introduced to Coolamon supporters at the club's 120 year celebrations 10 days ago and has since agreed to terms with the Hoppers.

Coolamon has also managed to re sign captain Jamie Maddox, former AFL player Ben Fixter, Ryan Chamberlain, Ben Edyvean, Connor Neyland and Mitch Stephenson for next season.

Coolamon president John Piltz said the club is delighted that Ladhams chose to join the Hoppers.

"It's fair to say that Chris had plenty of options for next year, but his reasons for joining the Hoppers go beyond just playing football," Piltz said.

"He's great mates with a few of our club members and had been talking about playing with us for several seasons.

"Now the timing is right."

Ladhams, 33, is currently playing under former Coolamon coach Wayne Weidemann at Broadview in division two of the South Australian Amateur Football League.

He has only managed six games due to work commitments but has returned 16 goals and been in the club's top two players on four occasions.

Ladhams coached Ironbank in 2013 in the Hills Football League and kicked 48 goals for the season.

He returned 76 goals and 63 goals in two seasons coaching Jervois in the River Murray Football League prior to that.

Ladhams also played more than 100 games for North Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and won the club's best and fairest in 2004.

It was the association with Weidemann that played a key role in his decision to link with Coolamon and Piltz believes Ladhams will add a lot of experience to the Coolamon team.

"Wayne had spoken to Chris about his own experience at the Hoppers, about the club and the community and what it meant to him to be a part of it," Piltz said.

"Wayne's selection as the coach of the 40 year team recently underlines how we regard him as a leader within this club so to know he's pushing our cause elsewhere is really great."

The Hoppers have high hopes for Ladhams.

"Chris is a renowned goal kicker, so there's no doubt he'll give us a lot of options on game day," Piltz said.

"But he's also a fantastic on field leader and this will be really important for developing our team, especially our younger playing group."

Coolamon hopes to land "several" more important re signings in coming days.

The club is yet to make an announcement about the coaching position with Lew Roberts yet to commit to a further season in charge.
