Stamp depicts a moment in 1963 March on

WASHINGTON (AP) Rep. John Lewis remembers the moment well: More than 250,000 people marching toward the Lincoln Memorial, rallying for jobs and justice, as he prepared to deliver a passionate speech at the March on Washington.

Almost 50 years later, Lewis returned to that day as he gazed at an image of marchers carrying placards calling for jobs and equal rights, with the Washington Monument as a backdrop. The moment is captured on the newest postage stamp, unveiled Friday, to commemorate the civil rights movement.

"I'm more than lucky. I am very blessed to come here and see the unveiling of this beautiful stamp," Lewis said during a ceremony at the Newseum. Now 73, he is the last surviving organizer of the historic march.

Artist Greg Manchess of New York, under the direction of Antonio Alcal of Virginia, painted the image using oils and broad strokes on a gessoed illustration board.

"It is a powerful image. When you look at it, you can't help but think of the debt that America owes those marchers," said Deputy Postmaster General Ronald Stroman.

Joining Lewis to unveil the commemorative stamp at was actress Gabrielle Union, star of the movie "Bring It On" and the new BET series "Being Mary Jane." Although the 40-year-old hadn't been born at the time of the march, she said she felt compelled to join the ceremony because her parents had raised her to never be silent in the face of injustice.

In 1963, Union explained, her father was in Italy serving in the military and her grandmother prohibited her mother from taking part in protests, fearing she would lose her job.

"Both of my parents were silenced at a time when they wanted to be demonstrative in their feelings and in their opinions," Union said. "My father by the military brass and my mother by a much scarier entity my grandma."

In an interview with The Associated Press, Union said: "I think as young, politically active black people, we like to think our parents were freedom riders, they were all freedom riders and on the front lines of every fight. And to hear their stories, and to get the why they weren't, was incredibly powerful."

As for the stamp, she told the AP, "It's dope!"

All this week the Postal Service encouraged people to help unveil the stamp digitally by offering their Facebook profile pictures as tiles that would, one by one, create an online mosaic of the stamp. In offering their images, the thousands pledged to "take a stand for equality."

"It was nice for people to be able to participate and to be their own activist from home," Union said.

Earlier this year, the Postal Service issued stamps paying tribute to the Emancipation Proclamation and civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks. Together, the three stamps are part of what Stroman said is a series that honors historic milestones of the country's struggle for civil rights.

"This stamp, this beautiful stamp, is my hope," Lewis said. "It inspires us all to renew our effort to do what we can to create a more perfect union."

http://vivianamrz.blog.free.fr/index.php?post/2013/07/26/Deathstalker-Legacy-read-online
http://shannonhee.blog.free.fr/index.php?post/2013/07/26/Song-of-the-Road-%28Route-66-Series%29-download
http://friendfeed.com/uburrk/24ba4638/download-dragonbreath
http://ichivec.livejournal.com/9537.html
http://blog.yahoo.com/_V7DY2A2KNVCMJZWRRYMTIVN5JU/articles/1328909
http://allegraopv.blog.free.fr/index.php?post/2013/07/26/Renoir-in-the-20th-Century-e-book-downloads
http://friendfeed.com/aziia/93b76a87/ready-to-descend-minnesota-iron-miner-in
http://friendfeed.com/iooiaes/75b1e082/downloads-stand-off-at-blue-stack-linford
http://blog.yahoo.com/_TATADRAKHAZRENWDMZSPV4NQ4U/articles/1214413
http://oznuqut.livejournal.com/9538.html
http://en.netlog.com/cathietopping/blog/blogid=27409100
http://ceuoioiabo.blogdetik.com/2013/07/23/max-and-ruplay-school-a-picture-reader-with-24-flash-cards-all-aboard-reading-e-book-downloads/
http://blogs.rediff.com/cynthiaquuf/2013/07/26/boxing-a-worldwide-record-of-bouts-and-boxers-e-book/
http://blog.yahoo.com/_CT2B66CY5MKTTI7RVIG2JV5QY4/articles/1246178
http://friendfeed.com/hbrdlh/295c923b/downloads-alternative-evaluative-approach
http://en.netlog.com/sheliagenthner/blog/blogid=27409102
http://yaebpyibim.blogdetik.com/2013/07/23/sleeping-in-the-blood-abna-2013-entry-download/
http://orpeziarni.blogdetik.com/2013/07/25/scientific-knowledge-anime-encyclopedia-marine-book/
http://qtyooeubz.blogdetik.com/2013/07/25/download-hungary-printers-2005-2009-forecast-and-2004-vendor-shares-e-book/

Soccer-Suazo, Valdivia return for Chile

Aug 23 (Reuters) - Former outcast Jorge Valdivia and striker Humberto Suazo have made their comebacks to the Chile squad for a crucial World Cup qualifier at home to Venezuela on Sept. 6.

Shaven-headed 'Lollipop' Suazo of Mexico's Monterrey had announced his retirement from international football earlier this year but coach Jorge Sampaoli has persuaded him to return.

Valdivia, who plays for Palmeiras in the Brazilian second division, was suspended for 10 matches for indiscipline in October 2011 by Chile's former coach Claudio Borghi.

Sampaoli, the third Argentine in a row in charge of the Chile team, had recalled Valdivia for qualifiers earlier this year but the midfielder missed them through injury.

Chile are fourth in the South American group with 21 points and three matches remaining. Uruguay, who have a game in hand, and Venezuela are fifth and sixth, both with 16 points.

The top four in the group will go through to the finals in Brazil next year while the fifth-placed team will play off with an Asian qualifier for one more berth.

Uruguay welcome striker Luis Suarez back for their visit to Peru after he was suspended for the crucial 1-0 win away to Venezuela in June that put their campaign back on track.

Peru, seventh with 14 points, have included Real Madrid teenager Christian Benavente in their squad for the first time.

Argentina lead the South American qualifying group with 26 points followed by Colombia on 23 and Ecuador with 21.
Vaporcare: Mark Zuckerberg's nebulous pl

In technology circles, vaporware refers to a gadget or computer program that is announced by a company but never actually materializes, that is unveiled only to benefit the company in some nebulous way: hardware or software that is as substantial as vapor.

Now, with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerbergs dubious announcement on Wednesday that he plans to bring Internet to the entirety of the developing world, we have a new term to add to the tech lexicon: vaporcare.

I believe connectivity is a human right, the Facebook founder declares in , and that if we can work together we can make it a reality. He goes on to outline, in what can only be described as a mind-bomb epiphany, a rough plan for making the Internet available to the next five billion (that is, the majority of the worlds population that presently lacks Web access),of a new entity calleddedicated to this cause.

This grand pronouncement has attracted significant attention, including an exclusive interview with CNN. But wading into the details of the plan, its less than clear whats actually being announced here, beyond a firm conviction in a general idea (Internet access!) that nobody really disagrees with. The plan pretty much entails carrying on with precisely the business strategies Facebook and its announced partners in this consortium will need to pursue to keep growing its customer base, but positioned as some sort of massive humanitarian undertaking.

In short, it sounds like vaporcare.

In a way, this seems in line with the current vogue for Big Unlikely-Sounding Idea projects like Elon Musks Hyperloop or Googles Project Loon. Wouldnt it be neat if there were a super-train for San Francisco to L.A. in half an hour, or a network of floating-balloon broadband transmitters? Sure! And now back to business. (Bill Gates, who knows a thing or two about the difference between business and humanitarian efforts, summed up the limits of such schemes recently: When youre dying of malaria, I suppose youll look up and see that balloon, and Im not sure how itll help you.)

At the moment, however, the Internet.org initiative lacks even a nutty conversation-starting focal point. Instead, partners Facebook, Samsung, Ericsson, Nokia, and others (working together as an industry) pledge to try and make the relevant technology more affordable; improve data efficiency; and invent business model variations appropriate to the developing world.

You can judge this an effort to , but to me it just sounds like the profit motive. And of course there is no shame in that: The profit motive isnt inherently at odds with human rights or humanitarianism. In fact, the explicit case for pursuing developing-world business goals that happen to have positive humanitarian effects has been most convincingly made in the late s .

Perhaps Internet.org will develop into something more specific and significant over time; the partnership is apparently supposed to involve nonprofits and local communities, but at the moment it lists only tech firms. And even Zuckerbergs essay basically acknowledges that this is all a belated and dressed-up announcement of strategy his company has been pursuing for a while: Facebook has already invested more than $1 billion to connect people in the developing world over the past few years, he writes, and we plan to do more. Asreported mere weeks ago, Facebook has worked diligently for a couple of years on a lightweight version of its service aimed explicitly at the developing world. In a lot of foreign markets, people think that the Internet is Facebook, one observer told The Times.

That comment actually sounds pretty depressing, and slightly ominous. And maybe this is what explains the repositioning of a sound business strategy as humanitarian-sounding vaporcare: Instead of talking about what it would mean if the next five billion experience the Internet primarily via Facebook, we can talk about connectivity as a human right. And thus a business strategy is converted from something that might seem worrisome into something that everyone can like.

http://linettevi.blog.free.fr/index.php?post/2013/08/10/Downloads-Wind-Energy-Systems-for-Electric-Power-Generation-ebook
http://ludivinabuzip.webs.com/apps/blog/show/31946531
http://nikkibrd.soup.io/post/332339727/Tender-Warrior-Every-Mans-Purpose-Every-Womans
http://alisemo.blog.free.fr/index.php?post/2013/08/10/Downloads-SOULCALIBUR-IV-%3A-Signature-Series-Guide-%28Xbox-360%2C-PS3%29-e-book
http://blog.yahoo.com/_YFVDUKAKESDIUOVDLIFGLN76V4/articles/1319852
http://twitpic.com/d7ea09
http://friendfeed.com/mosfn/ded9438b/royal-bucks-or-king-own-regiment-of-militia
http://twitpic.com/d7ea0m
http://friendfeed.com/vodocf/bb66bd6c/thousand-deer-four-generations-of-hunting-and
http://uxnotody.shared-blogs.com/The-first-blog-b1/Downloads-Alchemist-of-the-Avant-Garde-The-Case-of-Marcel-Duchamp-book-b1-p130.htm
http://ynnnuitsn.blogdetik.com/2013/08/08/a-summertime-song-e-book/
http://letitiauypru.webs.com/apps/blog/show/31946533
http://obgubire.jimdo.com/2013/08/10/the-persian-pickle-club-e-book/
http://marcitaymq.webs.com/apps/blog/show/31946534
http://ithoguwa.blog.com/2013/08/09/download-falling-free-book/
http://marilouaqu.soup.io/post/332339744/Download-Steele-County-Minnesota-including-Kenyon-Minnesota
http://ikhogege.livejournal.com/21368.html

Now he's thinking about arming himself with a gun.

The 21-year-old is the human face of a trend that is worrying security sources, politicians and a rights group spoken to by Reuters - the revival of violent anti-Indian sentiment among the Kashmir Valley population just as New Delhi fears a renewed onslaught from Pakistan-based militants.

Ishfaq and his friends were among thousands who took to the streets across the Muslim-majority Himalayan state following the July 18 killing of four men by Indian border police during a day of protests against an alleged desecration of the Koran.

Three weeks on, hiding from police in a crowded bazaar of the lakeside city of Srinagar, Ishfaq said several years of unarmed struggle against India's rule had been met only with violence.

"If the same situation persists, the day is not far away when we go back to the gun," said Ishfaq, who asked for his second name to be withheld. "We cannot fight without weapons."

Rising attacks on security forces and evidence that more young people are slipping into the grasp of armed militants risk undoing years of security gains in Indian-controlled Kashmir.

The timing could not be worse for India.

A looming general election has prompted accusations that some politicians are manipulating the instability. Meanwhile, intelligence sources say militant groups may turn their fire on India again when Western troops leave Afghanistan next year.

"People generally feel pushed to the wall here," said Khurram Parvez, an activist with rights group the Jammu and Kashmir Coalition for Civil Society whose grandfather was shot dead by security forces at a protest. His own leg was blown off by a militant bomb in 2004.

"In the last three or four years they have tried to criminalize protesters and curb public speaking. Unfortunately this pressure and violence from the state is starting a new sense among people where violence is getting legitimized."

That is certainly the view of Ishfaq, who spoke to Reuters in a room gruesomely decorated with photos of victims of alleged torture at the hands of Indian security forces.

With separatist leaders frequently under house arrest and banned from public speaking, and no sign of dialogue that could lead to a political solution, he feels betrayed by India.

"We are on the threshold, we cannot bear it, we cannot tolerate it any more," he said.

RISE IN FATALITIES

Last summer was the most peaceful in the disputed South Asian region since an armed insurgency exploded in 1989 as Soviet troops withdrew from Afghanistan.

Ashok Prasad, the chief of police in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, said the number of attacks by militants was actually down this year.

But the fall in the number of attacks disguises a sharp rise in the number of fatalities. Eight soldiers died in a single brazen ambush on an army truck in heavily defended Srinagar the day before Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visited in June.

According to the South Asia Terrorism Portal, which tracks the violence, 42 members of the security forces have been killed so far this year, up from just 17 in all of 2012.

That reverses a decade-long trend in which fatalities fell annually as militants laid down arms and protests and riots replaced bullets and bombs.

The violence coincides with an upswing in tension along the Line of Control (LoC) that divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan, who have been quarrelling over the region they both claim in full since freedom from British colonial rule in 1947.

Tit-for-tat artillery exchanges regularly rattle the de facto border. Two weeks of shelling between India and Pakistan has followed an ambush that killed five Indian soldiers on August 6.

Pakistan denied any involvement in that ambush. But Indian security officials suggest a new wave of Pakistan-based Islamist guerrillas are trying to cross the LoC, part of a shift in focus to India ahead of the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan next year that some feel has echoes of 1989.

The foreign fighters bring weapons and inspiration, but they can only flourish with local support. There are signs that support is growing.

"Anyone who comes across, we welcome them," said Ishfaq.

Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in June said the numbers of people joining the militancy was still extremely low, but conceded that a trend of young, educated youth joining the ranks of militants was "a serious concern".

Several factors are blamed for this creeping radicalization. One security source pointed to the growing popularity of more conservative strains of Islam and to high unemployment. Many Kashmiris simply feel India has not made enough concessions despite several years of peace, making normal life difficult.

Widely despised laws protecting security forces from trial are still in place, access to simple technology such as text messaging is limited and the heavy military and police presence in the state has not been lifted.

FERTILE GROUND FOR RADICALS

Though the latest violence is small compared with the worst years of the insurgency, when thousands died in fighting annually, some Kashmir politicians warn that, left unchecked, the situation could quickly get out of hand.

"In 1989 there was almost no violence, but it exploded into a full insurgency within a year," said Yasin Malik, a former militant who now leads a political movement calling for a Kashmiri nation independent of both India and Pakistan, which polls show is what most people in the Kashmir Valley want.

Some trace the latest uptick in violence to the execution in February of Afzal Guru, a Kashmiri convicted of a 2001 attack on India's parliament. Fearful of a backlash, the Indian government imposed a week-long blanket curfew across the state immediately after Guru was hung, infuriating much of the population.

Others look further back. Parvez, the rights activist, says police shootings that killed more than 100 young protesters in 2010 and a campaign of arbitrary detention, documented by Amnesty International, both helped radicalize opinion.

A security source with close knowledge of anti-militancy operations met Reuters on a wooden bridge across the Jhelum river that runs to Pakistan. He said some of the anger directed at the police was justified because of rights abuses.

"There is a deepening of radicalization and a slight increase in recruitment of locals," the source said, adding that he feared next year's election would be fertile ground for violence from militants seeking to undermine the vote.

Ishfaq and his friends, already halfway to going underground, say they are in no mood to back down.

"We are hopeful a day will come when there will be results and until there we will keep fighting. We want independence from both India and Pakistan," he said.

(Additional reporting by Ashok Pahalwan in JAMMU and Fayaz Bukhari; Editing by Alex Richardson and Pravin Char)

http://achoxuw.jimdo.com/2013/08/07/downloads-missing-stranger-abduction-smart-strategies-to-keep-your-child-safe-ebook/
http://kristeenniozb.webs.com/apps/blog/show/31913817
http://ipbohuha.jimdo.com/2013/08/07/download-perfect-main-dish-vegetables-pb-ebook/
http://ocudoady.blogdetik.com/2013/08/06/downloads-junior-infants-interactive-cd-books-ab-fireworks-english-e-book/
http://ronaytb.soclog.se/p/2013/8/?link=1375910201
http://en.netlog.com/majorveasey/blog/blogid=28073882
http://debrahurps.soup.io/post/331583775/TIL-V3-Foundation-Bridge-Certification-Exam-Preparation
http://ysdzoocml.metroblog.com/amazing_space_q_a_e_book_downloads
http://blogs.rediff.com/novellaio/2013/08/08/downloads-the-2009-import-and-export-market-for-unroasted-caffeinated-coffee-in-germany-e-book/
http://friendfeed.com/oucmiey/735df1ec/donald-duck-adventures-1-ebook
http://friendfeed.com/nyuliue/112ebe89/international-directory-of-company-histories

Markets buoyed by Bernanke testimony

LONDON (AP) The mood in markets turned positive Wednesday after remarks from U.S. Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke raised the prospect that the central bank's monetary stimulus may stay in place a little longer than expected.

In prepared remarks to lawmakers in Congress, Bernanke said the Fed's timetable for reducing its bond purchases is not on a "preset course" and that it could actually increase them if economic data disappoints. Specifically, he said the Fed wants to see substantial progress in the job market before scaling back the bond purchases.

Bernanke, who was taking questions from lawmakers, also said that the Fed's main interest rate, the Fed funds rate, will stay at its current very low levels after the monetary stimulus comes to an end.

The Fed is currently spending $85 billion a month buying financial assets in the markets in order to lower long-term borrowing rates and shore up the U.S. recovery.

In recent weeks, the expectation had been that the Fed might start the so-called tapering in September but a recent run of uninspiring U.S. economic figures have put that assumption into question. Bernanke's comments appeared to confirm the expectation that any change will depend on economic data and not be constrained by the calendar.

The response was relief in stock and bond markets.

"Unconvinced that the economy has turned the corner toward stronger growth, Bernanke is in no rush to pull back on the monetary throttle," said Sal Guatieri, senior economist at BMO Capital Markets.

In Europe, the FTSE 100 index of British shares rose 0.2 percent to close at 6,571.93 while Germany's DAX rose 0.7 percent to 8,254.72. The CAC-40 in France ended 0.6 percent higher at 3,872.02.

In the U.S., the Dow Jones industrial average was flat at 15,449.09 while the broader S&P 500 index rose 0.2 percent to 1,679.57.

Wall Street was also buoyed by strong earnings from big companies, such as Bank of America, which reported an unexpectedly large increase in profits in the second quarter.

The dollar recovered from an early drop. As well as boosting stock markets, the Fed's monetary stimulus over the past few years has largely kept a lid on the dollar, so the prospect that the policy will remain intact has the potential to weigh on the currency. The euro was down 0.5 percent at $1.3095 while the dollar was 0.6 percent higher against the Japanese yen, at 99.70 yen.

How the rest of the trading session turns out could hinge on Bernanke's exchanges with lawmakers to Congress. Unlike last time he went before them and spooked markets by signaling the Fed was planning to ease its stimulus few think he will stray from the written comments he delivered earlier in the day.

"Presumably, he will remain 'on message' during the Q&A session, and confusion will not reign," said Joshua Shapiro, chief U.S. economist at MFR Inc.

Earlier in Asia, China's Shanghai Composite Index fell 1 percent to 2,044.92 while Tokyo's Nikkei 225 gained 0.1 percent to 14,615.04. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.3 percent to 21,371.87 and Seoul's Kospi added 1.2 percent to 1,889.50. B

Oil prices recovered some earlier losses with the benchmark New York rate down 4 cents at $105.96 a barrel.

http://ijxapite.blog.com/2013/07/30/the-2548-best-things-anybody-ever-said-proprietary-edition/
http://friendfeed.com/uburrk/a86d4c57/twelve-days-of-christmas-online
http://epqtbeeee.blogdetik.com/2013/07/27/download-father-abrahamlincolns-relentless-struggle-to-end-slavery-ebook/
http://egzajehu.blog.com/2013/07/30/downloads-el-capitan-alatriste-spanish-edition-e-book/
http://friendfeed.com/hbrdlh/ed57f0b6/downloads-private-realm-of-marie-antoinette
http://orpeziarni.blogdetik.com/2013/07/27/flexible-and-efficient-information-handling-23rd-british-national-conference-on-databases-bncod-23-belfast-northern-ireland-uk-july-18-20-2006-proceedings-lecture-notes-in-computer-science-o/
http://en.netlog.com/khalilahburress/blog/blogid=27662219
http://en.netlog.com/nolangarry/blog/blogid=27662221
http://friendfeed.com/iooiaes/382c17b0/download-don-t-know-much-about-history-updated
http://daltonomiyd.webs.com/apps/blog/show/31284280
http://twitpic.com/d5kfl0
http://erkabiz.jimdo.com/2013/07/30/study-of-the-fair-housing-initiatives-program-e-book/
http://en.netlog.com/yasminthole/blog/blogid=27662225
http://twitpic.com/d5kfkf

Meet the Billionaire Pioneer of Americas

WILLISTON, N.D. Harold Hamm once drilled 17 wells without finding any oil. That is the longest string of dry holes he's ever drilled and was back in the 1980s, more than a decade before he made billions leading the way in tapping into North Dakota's rich oil fields.

So what's the longest streak of oil-rich wells he has drilled? "It's probably in the thousands," he said, before adding with muted laughter: "Knock on wood." (Clickfor National Journal Daily's full interview with Hamm.)

As founder and CEO of Continental Resources, an independent oil company that was the earliest and still is the largest producer of oil in the vast Bakken oil fields spanning Western North Dakota and parts of Montana and South Dakota, Hamm is one of the most influential thinkers in the oil industry today and one of the wealthiest people on Earth. He is worth $11.3 billion and ranked the 90th richest person in the world, according to Forbes.

The 67-year-old Hamm has a quintessential American rags-to-riches story, which was told over and over during the 2012 election when he was advising Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. The youngest of 13 children in a family of Oklahoma sharecroppers, Hamm started out after high school in Enid pumping gas and fixing cars while taking college classes in geology and engineering. He never got a degree.

"I would have tried to have gone to college out of high school somehow," Hamm said when asked what advice he would give his younger self. He was quick to add: "I never look back and second guess."

He started his own company in 1967, Shelly Dean Oil Company, named after his first two daughters. It was later renamed Continental Resources. In 1971, he drilled his first well. The second was a gusher. "It produced 75 barrels of oil per hour," Hamm wrote in a Forbes op-ed in December 2012. "And everyone took notice."

Hamm doesn't look or act like a billionaire. Wearing Carhartt jeans, a blue Continental long-sleeve shirt, and matching hat, he helped himself to biscuits and gravy for a breakfast interview at the Holiday Inn Express off an ugly industrial highway in Williston earlier this month.

With the foresight that the Bakken oil boom wasn't going bust any time soon, Hamm's company bought a house here in Williston a year ago. "We found out a long time ago that instead of depending on motel rooms and the lack of them that we'd have a place to hang our hats," Hamm said.

Over the past year, his story has taken new twists. His involvement in the Romney campaign, including a $985,000 donation to the super PAC supporting the Republican's candidacy, has vaulted his name outside of the energy and finance world into politics, where the limelight brings constant scrutiny. He isn't eager to get back into the fray.

"I don't think my political future is bright," Hamm said with a quiet laugh. "I just have so much that I have to do, and if I can help, certainly I'd be glad to." He didn't have any specific suggestions as to whom Republicans should nominate in the 2016 presidential race: "We'll just have to see who wants to take that abuse."

Another unforgiving limelight is shining on him now, one that could cost him half his fortune. Earlier this year, Reuters reported that Hamm and his second wife, who have been married since 1988, are getting a divorce. It's unclear whether the couple signed a prenuptial agreement, and Sue Ann Hamm, who was an executive at Continental, could get half of Hamm's billionaire fortune. Hamm could lose controlling stake in the company he created from nothing and go down in history as having the world's most expensive divorce settlement. The estranged couple have two grown children, and he has three children from a prior marriage.

"I don't know how much I want to talk personally," Hamm said, after a long pause, when asked about his divorce. "I've tried to seek a balance in life like everybody does. I'm very focused on my work. And I've been able to remain focused on my job, and the work that I have to do here."

He indicated his divorce proceedings aren't having any effect on his company's success. "I want the company to do well, and it is. That's maintained my focus, I'm glad." As for all of the attention his divorce is getting in the media and elsewhere, like Wall Street, he shrugged it off. "There have been folks blowing it out of proportion," Hamm said.

While half of $11.3 billion is not a small proportion by most standards, Hamm has his eyes set on an even larger goal. He wants to triple the amount of oil Continental is producing over the next five years. By 2020, he wants to be drilling 300,000 barrels of oil a day. "We're well on the way," Hamm said.

He is unabashedly devoted to oil, over other fossil fuels and renewables. Hamm acknowledges that the environment and climate change are concerns, but he doesn't think taxes or regulations on the fossil fuels exacerbating the problem are the way to go. In fact, the father of five has an even bolder idea.

"Overpopulation is probably the biggest concern for the environment," Hamm said. "Are we going to provide rules to stop overpopulating areas in Africa? Middle Eastern countries? Probably should. China did. Stop overpopulating areas with people. Should we in the U.S.? Maybe we should think about that, if we're truly concerned about that."

Hamm is going in the opposite direction of many energy companies today. Instead of diversifying his energy portfolio and touting an "all of the above" approach like what President Obama espouses as he seeks to combat climate change, Hamm is all about the oil. The majority of his company's production75 percentis oil. The rest is natural gas.

"I'm an oil-o-crat," he said, having to repeat himself because his Southern accent made comprehending the new word Hamm had coined a challenge. "It's the most efficient fuel on Earth today. You refine it to make a whole lot of products."

As Hamm and a small number of other people in the global oil industry have learned, you can make billions of dollars with it, too.

http://twitpic.com/d60pua
http://arroniainu.webs.com/apps/blog/show/31530381
http://ufzemaq.deviantart.com/journal/Clove-Orange-e-book-390145416
http://twitpic.com/d60pui
http://twitpic.com/d60pvo
http://snuioiba.blogdetik.com/2013/08/02/acquiring-new-id-how-to-easily-use-the-latest-technology-to-drop-out-start-over-and-get-on-with-your-life-book-downloads/
http://virgieauc.blog.free.fr/index.php?post/2013/08/02/Downloads-The-Wolves-in-the-Walls
http://en.netlog.com/boriscroxton/blog/blogid=27799808
http://otjevine.blog.com/2013/08/02/qualitative-research-in-nursing-and-healthcare-read-online/
http://blogs.rediff.com/rolandonh/2013/08/02/animated-films-virgin-film-e-book/
http://erpovaz.livejournal.com/15517.html
http://friendfeed.com/colvo/126a0e29/download-fundamental-rights-in-european
http://louisapez.soup.io/post/329624331/Downloads-The-Mystery-of-the-Cross-book
http://friendfeed.com/iycoiot/32d744d5/islam-and-modernity-transformation-of
http://en.netlog.com/erickalarochelle/blog/blogid=27799818

Rapper 50 Cent pleads not guilty to dome

GTx muscle drug fails late-stage trials,

By Pallavi Ail

(Reuters) - GTx Inc's experimental drug to treat muscle wasting in cancer patients became its second successive lead drug to fail late-stage trials, wiping out nearly two-thirds of the market value of the once-promising cancer-focused pharmaceutical company.

GTx said on Monday that the drug, enobosarm, failed to meet the twin goals of improving body mass and physical function in cancer patients the latter measured by improvement in their ability to climb stairs.

There is no approved cure for cancer-induced muscle wasting, which results in decreased physical function, fatigue and weight loss.

There was an improvement in lean body mass in one of the two studies but overall the drug did not meet the pre-specified criteria, GTx said.

A 3-mg dose of the drug was tested on about 650 patients with non-small cell lung cancer the most common form of lung cancer.

This is the second blow to the Memphis, Tennessee-based company, which in 2010 discontinued development of its then-lead product a prostate cancer drug after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration rejected its marketing application.

GTx was valued at over $800 million in 2007 when it was trading at around $23. After shares slumped 64 percent to $1.49 on Monday, the company's market value dropped below $100 million.

GTx said it now plans to meet the FDA to discuss the path forward for enobosarm which was granted fast-track status in January. A fast-track designation expedites regulatory review of drugs that aim to treat serious diseases and fill unmet medical needs.

"Given the consistent, negative results from (the studies), we do not expect investors to ascribe any value to enobosarm," Cowen and Co analyst Eric Schmidt wrote in a note, adding that he does not expect the drug to be licensed without additional trials.

GTx Chief Executive Mitchell Steiner said the improvement in body mass seen in one of the studies, could potentially increase survival in patients with non-small cell lung cancer.

Cowen's Schmidt, however, countered that the FDA has been very clear that physical function is a requirement for approval, and that increases in lean body mass were not accompanied by improvements in physical function or survival in either study.

GTx's next most advanced drug is Capesaris, an experimental advanced prostate cancer drug currently in mid-stage studies.

"We are not optimistic for Capesaris's success, and believe GTx will require significant capital to continue its development," Schmidt said.

(Editing by Saumyadeb Chakrabarty and Joyjeet Das)

http://blogs.rediff.com/hermavytd/2013/07/18/download-insight-guide-vietnam-ebook/
http://ojvolago.livejournal.com/1509.html
http://allegraopv.blog.free.fr/index.php?post/2013/07/18/Tim-Sale%3A-Black-And-White-Revised-And-Expanded-download
http://ubqihali.jimdo.com/2013/07/18/downloads-vintage-church-timeless-truths-and-timely-methods-re-lit-vintage-jesus-book/
http://blogs.rediff.com/olivemym/2013/07/18/china-gas-liquid-separating-purifying-equipment-mfg-industry-profile-cic3572-download/
http://jessicaat.blog.free.fr/index.php?post/2013/07/18/Living-My-Life%2C-At-My-Income%2C-And-Getting-Ahead%2C-Starting-Today%21-e-book-downloads
http://blogs.rediff.com/hangkus/2013/07/18/access-2002/
http://colemaniuc.blog.free.fr/index.php?post/2013/07/18/Black-Erotica-Other-Sex-Stories-e-book
http://nikidyuh.soup.io/post/325319953/Download-Evaluating-Welfare-Reform-in-an-Era
http://friendfeed.com/apqap/639f4c8a/downloads-2011-2016-outlook-for-wi-fi-cellular
http://en.netlog.com/everettpollard/blog/blogid=26918100
http://yyoaturu.blogdetik.com/2013/07/16/pressure-sensors-monitors-controlsproduct-lines-reviewed-an-article-from-plastics-technology-downloads/
http://en.netlog.com/francinegilligan/blog/blogid=26918105
http://twitpic.com/d3b8ze
http://friendfeed.com/yizoq/dcbf7a46/school-and-society-fifth-edition-thinking
http://twitpic.com/d3b8zj
http://carylupyuz.webs.com/apps/blog/show/30604458
http://izpibehi.blog.com/2013/07/18/rosebudd-the-american-pimp-book/
http://blog.yahoo.com/_XT6AXMQ24OB6IYNB6XZZMYIIVM/articles/1281518

Former players urge Bartoli to rethink o

PARIS (Reuters) - Former top tennis players Goran Ivanisevic and Guy Forget have urged Marion Bartoli to reconsider her shock decision to retire from the sport, saying the Wimbledon champion would regret missing out on many great moments.

The world number seven stunned the tennis world on Wednesday by calling it a day at the age of 28, six weeks after her first grand slam triumph.

"What she did at Wimbledon was fantastic but she will regret this decision when Wimbledon comes," Ivanisevic, unable to defend his 2001 All-England title because of a shoulder injury, said in a news release issued by the Optima Open, an ATP Champions Tour event.

"There is nothing like playing at Wimbledon as 'Wimbledon champion'," added the big-serving Croat, who retired from the sport in 2004 after losing to Australian Lleyton Hewitt in the third round of the grasscourt grand slam on Center Court.

Former men's world number four Forget said the decision announced after a second-round defeat by Romanian Simona Halep at the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati sounded too hasty.

"Marion is a very smart girl, she is so dedicated about the sport that I'm always very cautious about someone's quote right after a defeat," the former French number one said.

"I hope she is going to change her mind. You don't want to have regrets looking back. Being a professional player is such an exceptional job and you don't want to look back a few months or years later and think 'why did I stop?'."

'DON'T QUIT'

He advised Bartoli to simply take a break rather than pack up her rackets for good.

"Don't rush it, just don't rush it," he said.

"Take time, go to the beach for a few days, go running in the park, just get your head together ... if you don't want to play the next week, just don't play it, if you want to miss the U.S. Open, fine, but just don't quit.

"Don't take such a radical decision only a few weeks after winning the biggest tournament in the world."

French tennis federation president Jean Gachassin, who was not aware of Bartoli's decision before she made it public, said he had not lost hope of persuading her to reverse her decision.

"Some champions have come back like (Kim) Clijsters or (Justine) Henin and I hope I will make Marion change her mind in the coming months," he told French broadcaster L'Equipe 21.

Former world number one Clijsters won the U.S. Open twice in 2009 and 2010 and the 2011 Australian Open when she returned to the sport after retiring.

"Marion has been such a fighter. I want her to continue training because I know she's going to miss tennis," Gachassin added.

French tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou was convinced this was not the end of Bartoli's tennis career.

"Marion, hope you are already preparing your comeback ... I checked if we weren't the 1st of April when I read." he wrote on Twitter.

Bartoli is due to hold a conference call at 1700 GMT on Thursday.

(Reporting by Gregory Blachier; Editing by Sonia Oxley)

http://friendfeed.com/yumcal/960d9e30/download-bmw-x5-e53-service-manual-publisher
http://blogs.rediff.com/hongyaub/2013/08/15/the-microsoft-sql-server-2000-performance-optimization-and-tuning-handbook-download/
http://en.netlog.com/genevacardello/blog/blogid=28374479
http://blog.yahoo.com/_WCHCB73GFLYZF2KZ4OJDAXEFBY/articles/1346532
http://twitpic.com/d8bli9
http://danielekaalq.webs.com/apps/blog/show/32022020
http://avnafab.livejournal.com/23155.html
http://blogs.rediff.com/deboraayba/2013/08/15/download-signs-and-wonders-a-commentary-on-the-book-of-daniel-international-theological-commentary-ebook/
http://baommse.info/1/books/Data%20Warehousing%20and%20Knowledge%20Discovery:%2013th%20International%20Conference%2c%20DaWaK%202011%2c%20Toulouse%2c%20France%2c%20August%2029-%20September%202%2c%202011%2c%20Proceedings%20...%20Applications%2c%20incl.%20Internet/Web%2c%20and%20HCI%29
http://uqcofazi.jimdo.com/2013/08/14/wake-up-lazarus-on-catholic-renewal-book/
http://friendfeed.com/yeuzop/c89a17cd/downloads-companies-should-take-advantage-of
http://twitpic.com/d8blil
http://otyafey.livejournal.com/26262.html
http://dewayneyc.blog.free.fr/index.php?post/2013/08/14/Download-Speed-Reading-Series%3A-Learn-Faster%2C-Read-Quicker%2C-And-Grow-Richer-e-book
