I never have been a fan of the NFL combine simply because it really does not test how great a player can be on an actual NFL field. It does not test the heart that a player has and how hard that they will work to obtain their goal, Tom Brady proved that. The Detroit Lions took a big step in the wrong direction one year removed from their playoff berth. The Lions appeared to be dealing with disciplinary issues which contributed to so many losses in close games (see: Houston vs. Detroit on Thanksgiving Day). Detroit is in a playoff or bust situation and it's possible that one more season like this one will cost at least coach Jim Schwartz his job.

Offensively the Lions have questions across the board. They need a receiver because even though Calvin Johnson Jr. Is able to beat double teams he can't solely lead the team to victory (see: 2012-13 season). With the removal of the cancerous Titus Young the Lions are in need of a second receiver NFL Jerseys china wholesale option for quarterback Matthew Stafford. it doesn't help that the Lions are very strapped for cap space and owe $50 million alone to Stafford, Johnson Jr., and Suh next year. The offense is in dire need of more playmakers and Reggie Bush could add an elusive element to the offense. Defensively the Lions have issues as well. Ndamukung Suh is due a lot of money and has had disciplinary issues throughout his career. Cliff Avril is a defensive end and, although he's in for a big payday, isn't worth the money he's going to demand. Kyle Vanden Bosch was cut by the team earlier in the offseason, which opens up a need for defensive linemen. Luckily for the Lions that's what this draft specializes in so there will be no shortage of talent. The Lions will also need to upgrade their secondary as their secondary is prone to injuries. NEW YORK (AP) - NHL hockey is finally back.

HONOLULU (AP) - Russell Henley made his rookie debut with a three-shot win over Tim Clark in the Sony Open on Sunday that will not be forgotten anytime soon.

He birdied the last five holes to shatter the tournament scoring record by four shots.

His score of 24-under 256 was the second-lowest in PGA Tour history for a 72-hole event, two shots behind Tommy Armour III in 2003 at the Texas Open.

He set the Sony Open record for the 36-hole score (126), shared the 54-hole tournament record with fellow rookie Scott Langley (193) and set another tournament record with the lowest closing round by a champion at 7-under 63.

Clark played in the last group, closed with a 63 and still finished three shots behind. He made seven birdies over his last 11 holes and only made up one shot on Henley.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) - Novak Djokovic cruised through his first match at Rod Laver Arena since his shirt-ripping victory celebration last year, opening his bid for a third consecutive Australian Open title with a 6-2, 6-4, 7-5 win over Paul-Henri Mathieu on Monday.

Maria Sharapova and Venus Williams had nearly flawless opening matches in the women's draw earlier in the day.

Sharapova finished her first match of the year in 55 minutes, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Olga Puchkova on center court. She showed no signs of trouble with her right collarbone.

ADELBODEN, Switzerland (AP) - Marcel Hirscher turned in a scintillating second run to win a World Cup slalom on Sunday, after being eighth in the opening leg.

United scraped its way to a 2-1 victory at home against Liverpool. City won 2-0 at Arsenal after playing against 10 men for most of the match.

TUCUMAN, Argentina (AP) - Rain halted the eighth stage of the Dakar Rally in Argentina with only 12 cars finishing on Saturday.

The New York Jets still have not named a new offensive coordinator, and fomer Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron Custom NBA Jerseys will interview for the position on Monday, the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reported.

Cameron was dismissed as the Ravens' offensive coordinator on Dec. 10 and was replaced by quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell.
