SCE Chief Executive Andrew House added that the console will be available from November 15 in North America and will hit stores in Europe from November 29.

"The response we have received is nothing short of incredible," he said at a news conference on the sidelines of Gamescom, Europe's biggest videogames fair.

He added the console will be available in 32 countries worldwide during the holiday season.

Microsoft Corp has said it will start selling its latest console at some point in November, intensifying competition ahead of the year-end holidays and gift-giving season.

Sony has priced the PlayStation 4, its first new console in seven years, $100 lower than the new Xbox One by Microsoft at $399.

Microsoft unveiled the Xbox One in May, its first new gaming console in eight years, marking its strongest push so far to dominate consumers' living rooms with an array of exclusive media content.

Microsoft Europe's Vice President of Interactive Entertainment Chris Lewis said on Tuesday preorders for the Xbox One were "unprecedented" but declined to give more details.

Sony said it would also cut the retail price for its PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita devices to $199 in the United States and 199 euros ($270) in Europe.

Previously the Vita was 249 euros and the PlayStation 3 was 229 euros.

(Reuters) - An elaborate temple-like structure perched on an apartment block in southeastern China is an illegal hazard that should be torn down, residents say. But they may not be as lucky as opponents of a lavish rooftop villa in Beijing.

The temple in Shenzhen is believed to have been on the roof for about seven years but the complaints have hit the spotlight only after a doctor in Beijing was given 15 days to demolish his 800-square-metre (8,600-square-foot) house and garden built illegally atop a 26-storey apartment block.

Although the roof of the building in Shenzhen is supposed to be a public space, a fingerprint-activated lock stops others from accessing it, according to media reports.

Chen Jiatao, chairman of the complex's housing management committee, said the temple's owner must resolve the matter by opening the space to other residents but he seemed to hold out little hope.

"I once spoke with the past chairman, who was here for seven years," Chen told Reuters Television. "He said this to me: 'Oh my, don't you know? This person is an official, he has friends in high places.' So it's useless."

A disregard for laws and regulations by the rich and well-connected is a source of discontent among many Chinese.

The temple and inaccessible rooftop have raised concerns about safety. For residents on higher floors, the roof would be the main escape route in case of fire, while the added weight from the illegal structure could threaten the building's stability, media reports say.

Apartments in the building sell for around 30,000 yuan ($4,900) per square meter and the rooftop itself is worth more than 15 million yuan ($2.45 million), according to the South China Morning Post.

Earlier this summer, Zynga Inc. hired Mattrick from Microsoft, where he led the Xbox business. Mark Pincus, Zynga's founder, remains chairman and chief product officer after handing CEO duties over to Mattrick.

The three executives leaving the company are Chief Technology Officer Cadir Lee, Chief Operations Officer David Ko and Chief People Officer Colleen McCreary. Mattrick announced the departures in a memo to employees posted on Zynga's blog.

Mattrick says San Francisco-based Zynga is "taking layers out" of its executive ranks. Steve Chiang will now serve as executive vice president of games. Nick Tornow will be chief technology officer and vice president.

"The fighters are the ones who fight, not the fathers," Mayweather said calmly.

If it's an act, it's a pretty good one. Armed with a new six-fight television deal with Showtime that should keep him the world's highest paid athlete, Mayweather has for the most part taken the high road while promoting his fight against Robert Guerrero as must-see TV for anyone who has an extra $69.95 for the pay-per-view.

Mayweather weighed in at 146 pounds on Friday. Guerrero checked in at the weight-class limit of 147.

The two meet in a scheduled 12-round welterweight title match at the MGM Grand hotel in what will be Mayweather's first fight in a year. It's also his first ring appearance since serving a jail term for assaulting the mother of his children, an experience he said helped him grow up.

Sometimes, though, he just can't help himself. The old Mayweather surfaces, complete with the bad-boy persona that has made him the biggest draw in boxing.

It could be that Mayweather as the promoter is trying to give a fight that still hasn't sold out some much needed buzz. More likely, though, is that he's looking for a bit of a mental edge for a bout that, despite the odds, could be very competitive.

He called Guerrero a hypocrite for promoting himself as a devout Christian, and then getting arrested on gun charges in New York. He mocked him for bringing up his jail sentence when he may be facing one himself.

And a few days before the fight he even accused Guerrero of trying to win fans by using his wife's leukemia which she overcame with a bone marrow transplant as a way to get sympathy.

"I'm glad she was able to beat leukemia, which is a great thing," Mayweather said. "But they keep selling the same story. It's time to talk about something different."

Guerrero has had his share of things to say about Mayweather, too, though it was his father who made the loudest statement when he repeatedly called Mayweather a woman beater at the final prefight press conference. The game plan in the Guerrero camp is the same as it will be in the ring not to back off when challenged.

"That's part of his game, getting under your skin and getting you off your game," Robert Guerrero said. "It's not working. He's in for a fight and he knows it."

None of the talk matters, of course, once the two men finally meet. The title belt at stake doesn't matter all that much, either, in an era of inflated and cheap titles.

Mayweather has a franchise to protect, one that has made him untold millions of dollars since he beat Oscar De La Hoya in 2007 to catapult into the top seller ranks. He'll earn $32 million to take on Guerrero and try to remain perfect in 44 professional fights.

He hand picks his opponents these days, but had to do some studying before giving Guerrero the biggest fight of his life.

"I didn't know who he was a year ago," Mayweather said of Guerrero, who waged a very public campaign to get the fight. "I probably heard his name in passing but didn't know who the guy was. But he's earned his shot, and now he'll get it."

No one questions Mayweather's ability after crafting both a career and an empire with his fists. But he got hit with more punches than usual in his last fight, against Miguel Cotto a bout he won even while admittedly not at his best. He's also an aging fighter at 36, hasn't fought in a year and spent two months since then doing pushups in solitary confinement in a small cell in downtown Las Vegas.

"I don't want to make the same mistakes I made in the Cotto fight," Mayweather said. "I think I trained too hard for that fight. I'm a better fighter than I was in the Cotto fight."

Mayweather claims he's going to fight more regularly including a bout in September but he hasn't fought twice in a calendar year since 2007 and must deal with the real possibility of ring rust against Guerrero.

"'I feel unbeatable," Mayweather said. "I'm in the sport to go down as the best and I'm not going into a fight thinking I'm beatable. Anything is possible in life, but I feel I can adjust. I feel I can adapt."

Adjusting and adapting may be the key in the fight, which pits Mayweather against a rugged challenger who fights as a southpaw. Guerrero seems intent on putting pressure on Mayweather and making him fight every minute of every round something that other opponents have for the most part failed to do.

Oddsmakers have Mayweather a 6-1 favorite against a fighter who moved up to welterweight just two fights ago and got the fight mainly on his impressive win in his last outing against Andre Berto. Guerrero who won two world titles at 126 pounds and another at 130 will get $3 million for the fight, but understands the rewards for being the first one to beat Mayweather would be a lot more.

"A lot of people underestimate how strong I am in the ring. People underestimate my strength and it really is a big downfall for them," Guerrero said. "You have a strong body, you have fast hands, you have heavy hands and you have the skill and talent to put things together and be able to change up things in the ring. It really is a game changer for a fighter."

Both fighters will have their fathers in the corner, with Mayweather bringing back his after a long absence. Floyd Mayweather Sr. is replacing Roger Mayweather, who has been in his nephew's corner for 13 years. Mayweather said his uncle's diabetes makes it hard for him to see now, and he needs someone in the corner who can help him make adjustments.

Police from several cities were called in to quell the disturbance Sunday night in Huntington Beach. Several officers and people received minor injuries.

The weeklong surfing competition drew thousands of people to the Orange County city that bills itself as "Surf City USA."

A large fight broke out between some people in a crowd after the contest ended. When officers tried to break it up, the mob surged downtown, police Lt. John Domingo told KNX-AM on Monday.

The crowd pulled down a stop sign, and a man used it to smash the front window of a bicycle shop, which was then looted. Other people brawled, threw bottles, toppled portable toilets, rocked a city truck and threw a chair into a fountain.

"You see a mob of people running up the street," said Bert Etheredge, a salesman at the Easyrider bicycle and skateboard shop. "That's when we decided to shut down the shop and turn off all the lights, lock everything and kind of go into hiding, if you will."

The crowd then pulled down the stop sign, he said.

"It was coming through the window two seconds later, and that's when people started jumping in and pulling the bikes out," Etheredge told KABC-TV.

Police used nonlethal ammunition to help disperse the crowd.

Witness Doug Cavender told KABC-TV the scene was "really, really nuts, and it got really crazy really fast."

"I really honestly didn't think stuff like this happened in the OC," he said.

One person was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, and seven were arrested for other crimes including disturbing the peace, unlawful assembly and inciting a riot, Domingo said.

"We're extremely disappointed and saddened by the disturbance," said a statement on the U.S. Open of Surfing website. "We work tirelessly with city staff, police, fire and other agencies to ensure a safe environment for all."

Investigators planned to review video and could make more arrests.

SEOUL (Reuters) - Smartphone leader Samsung Electronics Co Ltd is set to report a record $8.9 billion quarterly profit on Friday, even as growth in sales of its blockbuster Galaxy series begins to wane and new rivals emerge to eat away at its market share.

The Galaxy S, powered by Google's free Android platform, propelled the South Korean firm into the top rank of smartphone makers in 2012, overtaking Apple Inc whose iPhone had set an industry standard five years earlier.

But the South Korean firm, which posted five consecutive record quarterly profits until the first quarter of 2013, now faces questions about how it will deal with narrowing margins as rivals flood the market with cheaper, simpler smartphones.

"Earnings could improve further from here as Samsung could cut prices of the S4 to boost overall shipments to a level that offsets any decrease in selling prices," said Brian Park, an analyst at Tong Yang Securities.

"But the bigger issue is that there's not much clarity about its future product lineups, and smartphones are increasingly commoditized ... It's inevitable that Samsung's stellar profit growth will come to an end and stagnate starting from next year."

Shares in the $185 billion company have dropped 15 percent since early June, hit by a series of brokerages downgrades. The share price reflects concerns about handset margins, with its mobile business generating 70 percent of the tech giant's total profit.

Its share price woes equate to a fall in market value of 33 trillion won ($29 billion), almost equal to the combined market capitalisation of Sony Corp and LG Electronics Inc.

To be sure, Samsung is by far the world's top smartphone maker with 33.1 percent of the market compared with Apple's 17.9 percent in the first quarter, according to research firm Strategy Analytics. Its rich product portfolio spans both the high and cheap-and-cheerful end of the market.

But competition is getting intense with Chinese manufacturers such as Huawei Technologies Co Ltd and ZTE Corp making ground in the popular mid- to low-end market, especially in China, the world's biggest mobile market.

Underscoring the growing focus on cheaper devices, Nokia Oyj, once the handset king, unveiled two stripped-down 3G phones this week. They allow access to popular applications such as Facebook and Twitter, and sell for just $68.

Mozilla also said this week that first smartphones running on open-source software Firefox will be available through Deutsche Telekom and Telefonica. Priced at less than $100, the models are manufactured by TCL Communication and ZTE and allow developers to easily create apps, as the software is based on HTML-5.

Samsung, due to release its April-June earnings guidance on Friday, likely increased quarterly operating profit to a record 10.16 trillion won ($8.9 billion), according to a survey of 43 analysts by Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

That would be up 57 percent from a year ago and 15 percent higher than the previous quarter, reflecting the launch of its flagship Galaxy S4 in late April.

But its earnings estimates have been cut by 3 percent over the past 30 days, and analysts are warning that the days of thumping record profits may be coming to an end.

Citi analyst Henry Kim estimates Samsung's telecom profit margin would decline by 4 percent next year and 3 percent the following year on high-end market saturation and increasing sales of cheaper phones.

Samsung is widely expected to have sold between 72 million and 75 million smartphones in the second quarter, including some 20 million Galaxy S4. That's only marginally better than first-quarter smartphone sales of 69.4 million.

Solid recovery in memory chip prices is likely to offset the easing pace of growth in telecoms business, analysts said.

Prices of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips, used mainly in computers, have jumped nearly 90 percent so far this year. NAND chips, which are used in mobile devices to store data, are also widely expected to be in short supply.

Samsung is the world's top maker of televisions, handsets and memory chips, competing with Sony and LG in televisions and with Toshiba Corp and SK Hynix in memory chips.

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Nearly all Americans expect a financial adviser to take into account their entire financial situation with more than two-thirds wanting advisers to provide comprehensive financial planning services, according to areleased today by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board).

Conducted by survey research firm ORC International, the online survey of more than 1,000 Americans 18 years of age or older showed that 91 percent of those surveyed said they want their financial adviser to take into account their total financial situation. And 70 percent of those surveyed also said they would prefer to work with a financial adviser who provides comprehensive financial planning services, compared to 30 percent who said they want to work with someone who specializes only in one area such as retirement.

"As Americans' finances become more and more complex, they are turning to advisers who can partner with them, look at their total financial picture, put all the pieces together and provide a comprehensive financial plan," said CFP Board Chief Executive Officer Kevin R. Keller, CAE. "CFP professionals are uniquely qualified to provide Americans with financial planning services and we hope current and future clients will ask their adviser to partner with them and create a comprehensive financial plan."

Certifications are also important to Americans when choosing a financial adviser, with 84 percent of those surveyed saying they play a role in choosing someone to work with. When it comes to what kind of certifications financial advisers should have, 87 percent said they would feel more confident working with someone who has a financial planning certification. Of those surveyed, 68 percent also preferred working with someone who has a certification or designation that "demonstrate(s) knowledge of multiple financial areas" such as investments, taxes, insurance and budgeting.

Another highlight of the survey showed that nearly half of those surveyed (48 percent) said "strong knowledge of financial planning" was most important to them in choosing a financial adviser, with 64 percent of those between the ages of 18 and 24 saying it was most important. The survey also showed that there seems to be an opportunity for current and prospective financial advisers, as 41 percent of Americans report that they have ever worked with an adviser.

"As this survey shows, Americans want advisers who are competent in financial planning and have a designation to prove it," said Keller. "Fortunately for both advisers and the American public, the CFP certification is the standard for financial planning, providing financial professionals with the tools they need to help clients put together a picture of their entire financial lives."

GREENSBORO, North Carolina (Reuters) - Australian Matt Jones has emerged as a contender for the International Presidents Cup team after another sizzling performance on the PGA Tour.

Jones reeled off five consecutive birdies on his way to a sparkling eight-under-par 62 in the final round at the Wyndham Championship on Sunday.

He started his purple patch at the 12th hole and while his run came too late to contend for victory, he vaulted into a tie for fifth at Sedgefield, just three strokes behind play-off winner Patrick Reed.

Jones has finished in the top-seven in three of his past four starts - performances which no doubt have caught the attention of Nick Price, captain of the International team for October's Presidents Cup against the United States at Muirfield Village in Ohio.

The top 10 in the standings after the next two tournaments will gain automatic selection, while Price will pick two others.

Jones remains outside the top 10 but few other International players are in good form, which may help the Australian's cause.

Jones, 33, downplayed his chances, saying he needed to win in the next two weeks to justify selection.

"I'd need to win a tournament to feel like I've earned my way there," Jones told Reuters. "Top 10s are great but I think you've got to handle the pressure of winning a tournament to understand what playing a Presidents Cup is like.

"This is the closest I've been (to making the team) and it's great to be there because it means I've played well this year."

Jones, who is 37th on the tour's FedEx Cup points standings, has always had a good long game but putting has often been his weak link.

But he made his share of putts on Sunday, including a rollercoaster 45-footer at the 13th that he described as the best putt of his life.

"I had to nearly putt it off the green - at a 45-degree angle to the hole up one steep hill and back down another steep hill - and it went in," he said. "It was amazing."
