＜熱球譜＞笑顔とバットでチーム引っ張る　成立学園（北区）３年　岩成亮祐選手

「ここで打って、重苦しいムードを変えたい」。７点を奪われた後の三回２死二塁、成立学園の岩成亮祐（いわなりりょうすけ）選手は狙った直球を振り抜いた。チーム初安打となる右前適時打で、６点差になる。「ひっくり返せば面白い試合になるぞ」。反撃の強い気持ちをチームに示した。

　成立学園が甲子園に初出場した二年前の夏、遊撃手として先発出場し、２安打を記録した。初戦で負けたが、最後まで声をからして盛り上げる先輩たちの諦めない姿勢に心が動いた。「自分も強い気持ちで仲間を引っ張ろう」と決めた。

　今大会、第一シードながら準決勝まで接戦や延長など苦しい試合が続く。中心打者として岩成選手は好機で安打を放ち、チームも粘って試合をひっくり返してきた。この日もそのはずだった。

　二回、失策をきっかけに連続安打で大量失点したことに「小さなミスが重大な結果につながった」とチームは意気消沈。岩成選手はメンバーに笑顔で声を掛け、失策を気にする後輩に「まだ終わっていない。楽しくやろう」と励ました。

　六回に四球を挟んだ３安打で１点を加えたが、それ以降は打線は沈黙。ベンチの声も、相手より明らかに小さかった。自らの懸命な声掛けや積極的な走塁、適時打も「チームの雰囲気を完全に変えることができなかった」と悔やむ。

貧者を喰らう国－中国格差社会からの警告---中国人の「生の声」と「痛み」伝える

目覚ましい躍進を続けている中国。しかし他方で深刻な環境汚染やエイズなど感染症の広がり、貧しい人々の悲惨な状況や抗議、彼らに対する権力者の弾圧や甚だしい腐敗などが頻繁に伝わってくる。この巨大な中国の全体像を、リアリティーを持って描くにはどういう研究をしたらよいのか。この問いは、中国研究を始めた頃の評者自身の悩みでもあった。著者も本格的な研究開始後まもなくこの問題にぶつかっている。
　著者は徹底したフィールドワークこそがその問題解決のカギだと実感する。その研究態度に驚きと同時に敬意を持つことができるのは、長期に及ぶ現地調査の多さのためだけではない。深く現地に入りこみ、ＨＩＶ感染の被害者との直接の接触などを通して彼らの生の声を聞きとろうとし、そのために、何度も現地に足を運び、数々の危険に立ち向かい、限界はあるにせよ弱者の「痛み」を感じ取ろうとする姿勢を貫いていることである。
　本書は、副題が示しているように中国社会の歪（ゆが）みを「格差社会」としてとらえ、その主な被害者＝農民の側から現状を描き出し、問題の本質に迫ろうとしている。対象としたテーマは、売血で広がった「エイズ村」の悲劇、重税から逃れようと都市に流れた農民工の悲惨で不安定な日々、安価での土地放棄を余儀なくされた失地農民の転落、格差の広がる歪んだ学歴競争などである。そこに共通する問題は、差別制度ともいえる農村戸籍制度の堅持、「公平なルール」を保証しない政府、その上で弱肉強食という競争原理が展開されていることだと指摘する。政治社会学のしっかりした分析枠組みがあれば、調査結果をより理論的に説明することも可能だろう。
　本書は単なる「中国批判のための書」ではない。再訪した幾つかの村で、農民の主体的な力により活気が戻っている状況も描いている。悲惨な現実を可能な限りリアルに描きだしながら、中国の人々とともに問題解決のために自らも参加しようという強い意志があふれ出ている。新進気鋭の行動的知識人の力作である。

彦一も年をとっておじいさんになり、とうとう死んでしまいました。
　死んだ彦一が、ふと気がつくと、目の前にはなんと、地獄（じごく）のえんまさまがすわっています。
（しもうた。ここは、地獄じゃ）
　だけど彦一は、少しもあわてません。
　めいどヘ旅立つとき、彦一は黒ざとうと、白ざとうと、トウガラシを入れた、三段の重箱(じゅうばこ)をもたせてもらいました。
　そのふたをあけ、黒ざとうから、さもうまそうになめはじめました。
「こら彦一、しんみょうに、おれさまのさばきをうけい。・・・やや、そこで、なにをなめているか」
　えんまさまが、大目玉でにらみつけると、彦一はニッコリ笑って、
「うまいものです。ちょっとだけさしあげましょう」
と、言うと、黒と白のさとうをだしました。
「なるほど、たしかにうまい。・・・うん？　その下のだんには、なにが入っておる」
「それでは、これもなめてください」
　彦一がさしだしたのは、ほかでもない、真っ赤なトウガラシです。
　えんまさまは、チョイとなめて、すぐにベッと、はきだしました。
　だけど彦一は、なにくわぬ顔で、
「えんまさま、こりゃ、ひと口なめれば、からいもの。いちどに食べれば、うまいものです。いっペんにのみこまないといけません」
「そうか、では、はやくよこせ」
と、えんまさまは、重箱いっぱいのトウガラシを、一口でのみこんだものですから、たまりません。
　たちまち、はらの中がにえくりかえり、口や目から火をふきました。
「あちち、あちち、もうたまらん！」
　えんまさまはドタドタところげまわったあげく、赤い衣をぬぎすてて、水をかぶりにかけだしました。
　手下のオニどもも、これはたいへんと、右ヘ左へ走りまわっています。
「では、わたしはこのすきに」
　彦一は、えんまさまの赤い衣に着替えると、外へとびだしました。
　そして、なにも知らない子オニたちに、こういいました。
「わたしはえんま大王であるぞ。ちと、天国まで用事があるので、すぐにカゴを用意しろ」
「はっ、ただいま！」
　子オニたちは、急いでカゴを用意すると、彦一を天国まではこびました。
　こうして彦一は、ぶじに天国で暮らすことができました。

これは、見(み)ることも、話(はな)すことも、聞(き)くこともできない三重苦(さんじゅうく)を乗(の)り越(こ)えう生(い)きたへレン・ケラーの言葉(ことば)である。

もし、あなたが何(なに)かの事故(じこ)で、身体(しんたい)の一部(いちぶ)を失(うしな)ってしまうという事態(じたい)に陥(おちい)ったら、どうするだろう。

殆(ほとん)どの場合(ばあい)、悲嘆(ひたん)にくれてしまうはずだ。

このへレン・ケラーの言葉(ことば)は、そんなハンデイキャップを一つの身(しん)体的特徴(からだてきとくちょう)と見(み)なす考(かんが)えから生(う)まれたもの。

これは本当(ほんとう)にいい言葉(ことば)だ。

ハンデイキャップを恨(うら)んだり、僻(ひが)んだりしないで、実(じつ)に前向(まえむ)きに生(い)きている。

おそらく、こう言(い)えるのは、ハンデイキャップを受(う)け入(い)れられ、自分(じぶん)が愛(あい)されたという経験(けいけん)が、前提(ぜんてい)として大(おお)きくあるからだろう。

同胞を大量に殺害され、自らも死の恐怖に晒（さら）されながら、そうした状況を生み出した社会に住み続けるのは、筆舌に尽くしがたいことに違いない。「ドイツはユダヤ人不在の地となり、その不在こそが……未来永劫（えいごう）ドイツの罪の証しとなるはずであった」。だから筆者も、第２次大戦後、ユダヤ人が「どこで自分の親兄弟を殺したかもしれない人間と出くわすかわからない」地にいるとは思いもしなかった。その意外性が、本書を生んだ。
　彼らの多くは、ナチスの迫害を避けて「ユダヤ人」性から逃れてきた。しかし皮肉にも戦後、彼らはその「ユダヤ人」性にすがることになる。「被害者」として戦後の救済を求めるには、「民族の枠組みに立ち戻ることが求められた」のであり、ナチズムの差別を否定して「法の前の市民の平等」を徹底することは、補償も得られないことを意味した。
　その一方で、「『ユダヤ民族』という仮想の共同体」を設定するシオニズムにとっては、「殺人者の国ドイツ」にユダヤ人が居残るということ自体が、ユダヤ人国家（イスラエル）建設の必要性に対する反証となる。自分たちは何故「ユダヤ人国家」に移らずに、ドイツに住み続けるのか。「ユダヤ人」とは何か。それは激しい帰属意識の葛藤（かっとう）を生む。
　「詰めたスーツケースに座って」いつでも移住できるつもりでいたドイツのユダヤ人。だが６０年代後半には、「ドイツでの生活を前向きに受け止めるべきだ」との主張が出てくる。９０年代のユダヤ人社会を率いたブービスは、自らを「ユダヤ教徒のドイツ市民」と位置づけた。
　半面、「被占領民となり傷ついた自尊心に苦し」むドイツ人にとっては、連合軍の庇護（ひご）を受けるユダヤ人を、自分たち敗戦国の「運命共同体」の一員とみなすのは難しい。犠牲者に与えられる特権へのねたみに始まり、「ホロコーストについて聞かされるのにはもううんざり」「ドイツはもう十分に謝罪し、罪を償った」との声が上がるなか、被害者たるユダヤ人を加害者視する風潮が生まれる。
　これは他人事ではない。「国民」形成の本質への問いは、我々の問題でもある。

中国、日本に「正しい態度と実際の行動」を要求

外交部の秦剛報道官は11日に北京で開かれた記者会見で、日本側が中国との首脳会談について発言したことを受け、「日本が正しい態度で実際の行動を取らない限り、中日関係の改善はありえない」と述べた。

　報道によると、日本の菅義偉官房長官は、日本と中国の首脳会談について「アジア太平洋経済協力会議(APEC)で行われるのは自然なことだ」と述べた。また「靖国神社参拝は心の問題だ」とし、釣魚島についても「明らかに日本の領土だ」とした。さらに「(前提条件を付けて)あれがこれがなければやらないという首脳会談はどこにも存在しない」と主張した。

　これに対し、秦剛報道官は「中日関係は深刻な状況に直面しているが、問題の所在は明らかだ。日本の指導者が、第2次世界大戦のA級戦犯を合祀し侵略戦争を美化している靖国神社に参拝することは、中国を含む被害国の国民の感情を深く傷つけ、中日関係の政治的基礎を破壊している」と指摘した。

　また、秦報道官は「釣魚島およびその付属島嶼は中国固有の領土であり、中国は争う余地のない主権を持っている」と改めて主張した。さらに中日両国の首脳会談について「最近、中国では『非誠勿擾』(誠意がなければお断り)という言葉が流行っている。日本側が正しい態度と実際の行動を取らない限り、中日関係の改善はありえない」と強調した。
