During Ming and Qing Dynasty, about 24 emperors, 14 of the Ming and 10 of the Qing ruled the country from Forbidden City.
List as one of the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987, Forbidden City is divided into two parts, the outer court, where the ceremonies are held, and the inner palace, the home of the emperor and his family. Explore the palace you could discover plenty of history and traditional Chinese architecture in numerous buildings and alleys in this huge complex.
A must sight in Beijing but very crowded and a bit repetitive in style as you walk through the grounds. We actually preferred the view we got from the park behind it (see our separate review). Queues not bad to get in, visited around midday but we were straight in.

Both David and Jackie were not only great tour guides, but extremely personable companions as well. While I hauled camera gear around (and they helped with that), they had a small cooler for soft drinks and water, which, after hiking up and down the wall, was much appreciated. The day was exceptionally beautiful and I asked to stay a bit later to capture the last of the day's sunset--a desire easily accommodated by David and Jackie.
This was truly one of the highlights of my two weeks in China. I would recommend anyone wanting to see Beijing and the surrounding sites and who wants an agenda that is flexible and tailored to his or her own interests, contact David IMMEDIATELY. He is absolutely one of the best tour operators in the city.
