1969 NASA loads fuel cell onto ‘Apollo 11’.

1994 Daimler-Benz AG publishes the fuel-cell vehicle.

■Mechanism of fuel cell

Fuel cells have been made on the principle of opposite reaction water is decomposed into hydrogen and oxygen by electrolysis. That is, the fuel is hydrogen and oxygen. It consists of three parts: an anode, an electrolyte and a cathode. Since the electrolyte does not pass only ions, hydrogen is split into ions and electrons. Hydrogen ions to form water by reacting with the electrons sent from the wire outside the oxygen sent to the electrodes on the opposite side through the electrolyte. At this time, electricity is generated when the electrons pass through an external wire.

■Disadvantage

・It is difficult to store hydrogen，because it is should keep at suitable pressure and temperature.

・Making fuel cell is high-cost. Since there is no equipment which mass-produced it since there is little demand of it now.

・Since there is also no system of distribution of a fuel cell, a system must be built newly, but it takes at least 15 year to make the base of a system.

■Advantage

・There is no noise

・It is environmentally friendly

・It is not generated sulfide nitrogen oxides and the toxic chemical

・Hydrogen as a fuel, can be made from a variety of　thing

・Contribute to energy saving because it can also be used exhaust heat

・We can be used for a long period of time

・Power generation efficiency is high

・Environmentally friendly because it does not emit only water and run it with the car
